I always love a good wine history, and I need to read more about this side of the world’s wines. Someday. Or so so keep telling myself.
A well-written, engaging history of Californian wine. Briscoe takes readers throughout the complete story of California's wine industry, charting its rise from curiosity to powerhouse, able to compete with French wine. (Personally, I much prefer North and South American wines to French.)
If you're interesting in, or just curious about California's wine history, then I'd definitely recommend this.
This is a fascinating look at the development of the California wine industry and the influence of the French wine industry in it perfect for any wine lover
This is the exquisitely written sweeping historical story of 200 years of wine making in California. As someone who grew up in Napa i can attest that the author has written a body of work that encompasses the best history of our California wines. I enjoyed the details of wine making, the story of the pioneers of wine in California and the description of how California wines took Europe by storm in 1976 winning the ultimate prestigious award which made all California wine makers proud. This is a great book, for all fans of the wine industry and all who enjoy California wines. I particularly enjoyed the characterization of those amazing first pioneers of our wine industry who grew to be the titans of the wine industry they are today. I highly recommend this book.
Thank you for the ARC. My personal opinions are as stated above. A most excellent read indeed !
I ❤️ CRUSH, a captivating history of wine in The Golden State. It is a gorgeously conceived and written saga, novelistic even, especially as it recounts how California won the coveted Paris Wine Tasting of 1976. Highly recommended!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from University of Nevada Press through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
