I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book about Honey and Harry Moon. It’s perfect for the middle grade readers.

It starts off with Honey and her friends talking about her family’s heirloom - the locket of Astronomer Moon. By the end of the sleepover the locket is missing and we find out Honey may have borrowed it without permission from her mother and is now in a whole heap of trouble. While she’s on her sleuthing quest to locate the missing necklace, she makes a new friend named Shiver, has a run in with the evil town mayor, and almost loses all of her friends. By the culprit and Honey both finally coming clean, the day is saved and the only deceitful people left are the mayor and his cronies.

This is a really wholesome book for young readers. Yes, what Honey initially did was wrong; however, her actions at the end teach kids that being honest brings about the best results and helps make bad situations end well. It also teaches about the power of forgiveness and that poor judgment one time does not necessarily make you a bad person for life.

I have a strong suspicion that the other books by this author have strong moral backgrounds and would be just as wholesome. I highly recommend this book.

5 stars.

Honey Moon shows an old family heirloom locket to her three friends, Becky, Claire and newcomer, Isabela. Honey has “borrowed” the necklace from her mom without telling her.
After the sleepover, Honey finds that the locket is no longer in secret hiding place. Honey at first thinks its Harry since they were trading practical jokes. But after searching, decides it must have been stolen and suspects one of her friends. To cover for losing the locket, Honey decides to replace the locket.
In the process of trying to find a replacement, Honey comes across a new shop, Shiver, on Magic Row shopping area and meets Florence Shivers. Shivers has come to Sleepy Hollow to show Honey her gift, the glimmers.
As the story progresses, Honey realizes she needs to find the necklace as it can’t be replaced. The longer she waits, the more guilt builds for having taken the necklace in the first place and suspecting her friends. Becky acts strange towards Honey and Honey gets more suspicious of and angry with Becky as the story continues.
Sweet story with a deeper meaning on lying, deception, honesty and, finally, forgiveness. Interesting characters and lovely pictures depicting some of the scenes of the story.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher, Rabbit Publishers and Diamond Book Distributors, for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I liked this book. I thought that it was adorable and that it captured what being young was like. I liked the lessons that Honey had to learn and how she was willing to correct what was wrong.

This book was so much fun to read. I liked that, as Honey is trying to figure out what to do about her mom's stolen necklace, she receives advice from a new friend, Shiver. As an adult, I already knew what Honey should do about the necklace. It was interesting to see how she worked through the issue on her own, taking advice at some points and ignoring it altogether at others. Eventually, Honey fixes the problem her own way and I liked that. This is a series I could definitely get sucked into, even being a middle grade book. I loved Honey's character and seeing her brother Harry from a different perspective.

What a tangled web!

Honey Moon borrowed a family heirloom – a locket – from her mother, and during a sleepover with friends, it’s gone missing. Honey must solve the mystery of who took her locket, while hiding the fact that she took it from her mother. The evil Mayor of Sleepy Hollow encourages Honey to deceive her mother, but it’s Shiver, a new town resident and owner of a unique popsicle shop that helps Honey the most.

Kids will enjoy this book for the mystery, for the spooky factors of Sleepy Hollow, and the descriptions of the unique popsicle that Shiver makes. They will relate to the everyday situations with friends and family and the unique artwork.

There’s a lot in this book to open conversations: lying, borrowing, forgiveness, and more. There’s a very typical circumstance where someone who is forgiven doesn’t want to forgive someone else, and who wants someone else to have the same consequences. Really great teachable moments.

Highly recommended. Great adventure/mystery for middle-schoolers and conversation opener for teachers and parents.

Joyce Magnin has a very endearing way of narrating "Honey Moon Shiver" to readers who will relish a spoon full of humor, a dash of adventure, and a great splash of Honey. "Honey Moon Shiver" is a lovely read that should be shared with youths along with series like "Cam Jansen" by David A. Adler.

A sweet story that teaches that actions have consequences and that even though doing what's right isn't always easy but it certainly makes you feel better.

I tried very hard with various programs but I couldn't open this file. I enjoyed the first Honey Moon book, though.
