Well written book. It never really grabbed me however. I liked the MC’s but I thought the meddling family to be over the top!

I requested and received an ARC via Netgalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

The story and the characters are engaging and appealing, the wounded cop recovering from physical and psychological injuries well done, the suspense part well written, but I thought Rafael and Lillian became a couple too quickly and that dimension of unknown and guessing what would happen with them was sort of lost early in the story.
I loved Rafael – protective, loyal, sexy, tender – and his words of endearment in Spanish make him even more yummy.
The families meddling was awful, the heroine’s brothers reactions sometimes absurd and immature and for me there were too much pages spent with those issues.
In spite of a certain blandness or lack of intensity, I enjoyed the writing and will read more from this author in the future.

Artist Lillian Beaumont has chosen the life she leads, despite being pressured to join the family business. As successful as her family is, she wants to make her art her life. Working in a art studio is only a means to an end. Leaving the studio one night, she discovers that she has not one, but two, flat tires. The next day she discovers that her tires were actually slashed.

Her family steps in to try and protect her. Up to bat is so gorgeous Latin neighbor, Rafael Delgado, a cop currently on medical leave. Sparks, previously well-hidden, are definitely brewing between the two of them. As attractive as Rafe is to Lillian, she just can’t allow herself to be distracted. She has a goal and she has a secret, neither of which she is prepared to reveal to him.

Can’t Help Loving You, by Nika Rhone, is a great book! I was able to read it in one sitting. I enjoyed spending time with Rafe and Lillian, even with their oft meddling families. This is Book 3 in the Boulder Bodyguards series.

I'll start by saying that this book is clearly well written and well edited. However, I just could not connect with these characters. This is the third book in a series, and although I guess it can be read as a standalone, I definitely felt like I was missing important pieces about Lilian that I might have understood had I read the other books. I don't know that for sure, though; all I know is that I felt a disconnect. I was also extremely agitated by Rafe and Lilian's meddling siblings. I can't even fathom allowing such a thing, but I guess it happens. It grated on my last nerve, however. How does anyone let a sibling interfere to that degree without putting them in their place? And there was never any resolution to that aspect of it. I also want to mention that this one violates one of my major pet peeves: the woman on the book cover does not look like Lilian as she is described in the book. I love the cover--it's actually one of the things I was most drawn to about this book--but it's not an accurate representation of the heroine.

I received an ARC via NetGalley for an honest review.

If it smells fishy, it is fishy.

Oh, she "plays at working" does she? As if you are so much better than her, butthead.

Geez, Thea is a bit slow on the uptake.

Ooh, what is she planning?

Chocolate cake at seven o'clock in the morning. Heck yeah!

Whoa, her brothers don't play around!

She really thought that guy was legit?

Poor guy. You can't control other people, Rafe.

Fire escapes should have lights. What's the use if you trip on stairs getting out of your apartment?

Super crazy.

Ha, this medic is funny!

Ugh, her brothers are idiots.

Rafe, you are so spoiled.

Are you okay, Bella?

Nika Rhone never disappoints. On the contrary : she succeeds in achieving the same high level as in the previous two books of her hand.
'Can't help loving you' is the third book in the Boulder Bodyguards series and also here the author has found the perfect mix of intrigue, suspense, romance and passion.
Although this is a stand-alone novel, I would recommend to also read the first two books in this series.
A must-read for those who love romantic suspense books !

This was a great read with a villain that I only somewhat suspected. I thought Lillian and Rafe had some great chemistry and their path to,an HEA was an interesting one. I liked that they had some history and felt this connection for years before acting on it. It gives more credibility to their romance. That being said, I'd recommend this read!

exciting, sexy romance.

Nika Rhone has created a well crafted romance. The story line has a number of twist and turns that keep the reader's attention and the characters are well developed, realistic and likable. I loved how Lillian and Rafe got together. Their banter was fun and they just seemed to bring out the best in each other. I hadn't realized this was the third book in the Bouldet Bodyguards series and it read well as a stand alone. I enjoyed seeing glimpses of Lillian's friends lives even though I hadn't read their stories. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am confident I will be reading more of Nika Rhone's work in the future.
I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley.
