Lilah Love is back in Murder Girl. This is book 2 so if you haven't read book 1 yet please do that first. I only say that because you may get lost since book 2 really just continues where book 1 leaves off. I love this one. You are kept on your toes as secrets start to unravel. Hang onto your seats and enjoy the ride that is Lilah Love. She is so strong and independent but that is not all either, Lilah has this amazing mind to break down her cases and goes after what she is looking for. Most of the questions you had in book 1 will get answered as the bodies start to pile up again. What is amazing is the help that Kane gives her when he can. I love that you are still left with the are they or aren't they together throughout this series. I for one and hoping for more Lilah Love and her amazing crime solving skills. Such an amazing read.
Lisa Renee Jones can write steamy and a bit of dark romance. With the Lilah Love duet, I am awed with how she made her writing style a bit different. Murder Girl was written as a suspense thriller, with a little romance in the mix. The questions that ran through my head of the why's and who's...I could not fully understand or guess what the outcome could bring.
I enjoyed reading about Lilah and Kane's relationship. It was a very slow burn. Lilah was hard and int the reality of things. Kane let Lilah be and at the same time tried to be her protector. These two had my head and heart spinning. I could not tell which way was up with these two. But that is the reason why Murder Girl work. I loved the suspense and the drama. There is so much more that I want to say! I will leave my review with this. Drama...Suspense...Lust...The Right...The Wrong...Surprises...and Pure Chills you will get by the time you are done with this book!
Absolutely love this Lilah Love series......and Kane what a guy I do hope there will be more to come on this new riveting series.....love the twists and turns and wondering who is the bad guy.....I stayed in all day just to read and find out who done it........can’t wait for the next adventure
4.5 Stars Murder Girl is book 2 in the Lilah Love series and picks up where Murder Notes (book 1) ended. Suspense, Intrigue and mystery this book being us that and more. I am really enjoying this series and although I am not generally a lover of books that end in cliffhanger and leave you waiting for the next one this is well worth the wait. Dynamic characters and a well written and developed storyline this is definitely a must read for lovers of this genre and even if you aren’t I recommend you pick it up.
Murder Girl is the second book in the Lilah Love series. It can not be read as a standalone. If you haven’t read Murder Notes, I recommend not reading this review. I will try to make it spoiler free even if you don’t listen but still, no promises. Lol.
The book starts exactly where the last one left off. Lilah trying to catch a killer in her hometown. Lilah not knowing who to trust. Anyone in this town could be dirty even her family. The local officials want the case closed but she has other plans. She doesn’t believe the man who confessed was the real killer. And she wants the real killer. An assassin. She has to trust her instincts when it comes to who she brings in. Kane Mendez is a powerful man who she wants to trust. After-all, she loves him but he could be on the other side of the law like his father. Her badge will always be between them but can he help her solve the case with his connections? And what is in it for him if he does?
Lilah has so many questions in her head. Who is the assassin? Who hired him? Is her family involved somehow? Was her mom killed in a plane crash or murdered? Can she trust Kane? Can she trust anyone?
I seriously love suspense. I get hooked in. I enjoy putting all the clues together. Add in a kickass bitch FBI agent and I am all in. I say that in the kindest of ways. Read the book and you will see why. She owns it. Lilah doesn’t fuck around. She is strong, independent, sassy, and loves her junk food. She is hardcore but I could see a bit of sweetness too.
Overall...this is not a hearts and flowers romance. At all. This is a story about finding a killer. There is a story there between Kane and Lilah but don’t expect to read about them being all lovey-dovey. It’s not them and I loved that. It’s different.
Quotes:
“What’s wrong with you, Lilah?” Greg asks the minute the doors seal us inside the car.
That’s a loaded question he doesn’t really want answered. I don’t look at him. “I’m two candy bars shy of my chocolate quota for the week. That kind of shit fucks with a girl.”
“I don’t hate you, Kane,” I say, because that’s the easiest way to explain what I feel. “Not all of the time.”
Kane and I do this hate/love, throw-a-fist, fuck-to-make-up thing too damn well to screw it up with fluffy bullshit.
Wonderful closure for everything that was setup in book one. Murder Girl is a departure from Lisa's romance books, but good grief does she captivate readers with this new genre. Lilah is a badass characters that I LOVED! I hope there's so much more of this character and this world to come!
Guilt-ridden Lilah has to finally face the reality of her dark side. She can kill with no compunction in self-defense. The fact that she has the ability to zone out emotions and act as needed, is an asset as she plunges deeper into the mystery of who is killing seemingly unrelated people with the same MO.
She must also face her past and the buried emotions she has for Kane Mendez. This is their journey in this love/hate relationship while building trust between them. There is nothing Kane will not do in order to protect Lilah. She is the only woman for him.
This plot is complicated, slow in building up to delineating all the puzzle pieces, but full of introspection as Lilah goes through her thinking processes. She has to find all the significant pieces of this murder puzzle before she can fully act. With assassins for hire named "Ghost" and "Gamer", dirty politicians and those who own them, and dirty law enforcement members, there are few people Lilah can trust absolutely. Once the main pieces fit, Lilah and Kane are unstoppable.
In the venue of an amazing Agatha Christie mystery, this series will have you holding your breath. If you are a reader who enjoys thrilling complex stories, this series is for you.
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing this book with me.
What can I say.... I Love Lilah Love !!! Lisa Renee Jones does a magnificent job of taking the reader on a journey of murder, conspiracy and intrigue. I like the way she weaves many scenarios and suspects until you don"t have a clue who dun it. Lilah isn't the type person that endears herself to people, but as an FBI Criminal Profiler, she has a tough job to do and she does it well. Murders are beginning to pile up and all seem to have links to Lilah and possibly something very dark from her past. A killer is stalking and taunting Lilah as she comes to realize, she can't handle the situation she's in alone. A lover from the past and another from the present vie for the chance to get close to her and help figure out how to save her life. This is a well written, keep you up at night, murder mystery that is an absolute Must Read.
3.5 stars
I was really excited to read this book since we were left with a cliffhanger in book 1, but it just didn't move very fast for me like book 1 did. It started out slow and was all over the place but then if finally started to pick up and move. You find out that everyone is keeping secrets from Lilah and she doesn't know who she can trust. Lilah and Kane truly have a push/pull, love/hate relationship which helps her during her investigation but leaves you wondering more about them and everyone else.
5 star review of Murder Girl (Lilah Love #2) by Lisa Renee Jones
Two of my favourite types of reads together romance (although there is not a lot of this in Murder Notes) and murder mystery, what more could I ask for? I’m not to sure where to start with this review as I do not want to give any spoilers away.
Murder Girl picks up from where Murder Notes ended so if you haven’t read book one, stop what you are doing and read Murder Notes first otherwise you will not have the background to read Murder Girl.
I was invested in this book from the first page. I could not put it down, I kept saying just one more chapter I have to know what happens so a sleepless night was had, but oh what a story.
Lilah Love is an FBI profiler and is used to dealing with the seedier side of life. When a string of murders takes Lilah back to her home town, her past rises up to smack her right in the face. Is this the work of a serial killer or an assassin? Will her haunted and dark past be brought to light?
The fact that she really cannot trust anyone including her family and Kane the only man she has truly loved makes for one heck of a crazy ride.
The writing was just as intense and as strong as book one and had me on the edge of my seat. There were so many plots twists that I was kept guessing and I needed to concentrate to ensure I didn’t loose track and to me that is the sign of a great book that has drawn you right in to the storyline.
The intrigue, suspense, danger and secrets had me riveted from the first chapter until the last, I was absolutely hooked and feel that this is one of the best examples of romantic suspense I have read in a long time.
I cannot wait to see where Ms.Jones takes us next on this amazing journey that is Lilah Love.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book through NetGalley from the publisher.

Firstly, thank you Lisa Renee Jones for the wonderful, thorough recap of the first book at the beginning of Murder Girl, as I know I had forgotten most of Murder Notes - terrible Bookzheimer's here!
Murder Girl takes up right where Murder Notes ended, and right from the get go we are swept back away in the murder mystery in the Hamptons.
I adore Lilah. There is so much going on around her, she is focused and doesn't take crap from anyone. You can feel the push/pull between herself and Kane, and if you are like me you just need them to get together!
There are so many twists and turns in Murder Girl, you never know which direction you are going to be dragged next. Who could Lilah and I trust, who was after her, why??
There are a lot of things sorted out in this books, however as we come to a close, there are some things opened up to us.
Not sure if there is going to be a 3rd book in the Lilah Love series, or if this is set up for a new series, but I need to know what happens next.

What a remarkable read! This book left off right were the first book ended.
Lilah Love is a real bad a$$. She doesn’t let anyone stand in her way. Not her family, police, her ex’s, and especially Kane Mendez.
Lilah is an FBI agent trying to figure out who is murdering people, leaving notes, and who was involved in her secret past that her and Kane have together.
Lilah is smart, cunning, and can “speak to the dead”. She’s getting closer and closer to finding the assassin and the assassin is getting closer to her.
This book has excitement, mystery, suspense, and love.
Lisa Renee has done it once more. Another book that I can see as a suspense movie!
LOVED IT, I can’t wait to read the next book😊
I love this series. I couldn’t put this book down and when I got to the end I didn’t want it to end.
Lilah is an awesome FBI agent. The way she analyzes the crimes scenes makes me fill right there with her. Her and Kane work well together with trying to figure out the serial killer. They are a good team and I love them together. They connect as one when they are together. They kept reeling me in when they get one clue figured out and then onto the next. Had me on the edge waiting to see what happens. I love how it drew me in and I couldn’t stop until the end. That’s how Lilah is drawn in until she catches the bad guys. I’m glad I got more of Kane and Lilah in this book.
I can’t wait for the next book. ARC provided by netgalley.
This second part of Lilah Love takes off at a blistering pace and remains fast moving right to the end. I was on the tenterhooks throughout the whole thing!
Lilah, an FBI profiler is still determined to catch the real serial killer despite all the barriers thrown in her way. There is so much going on that one puzzle leads to another and she is now more convinced that everything is tied to the reason why she left the Hamptons in the first place.
Her love/hate relationship with her ex, the formidable Kane is entertaining despite her attitude towards him. Together, they solve one mystery after another until she discovers that there is a dangerous secret organisation at play. She is one of the targets, but she doesn't shy away from danger. Besides, Kane would rather die than allow anything to happen to her. The biggest issue is who in her surroundings belongs to this organisation. Can anyone be trusted?
This is one convoluted story which is very well constructed and one thread of the story intertwines seamlessly with the others. Each time, there is a reprieve, something else is thrown into the mix. Despite all the cover ups and lies, I felt relieved towards the end until the plot turns full circle and finishes with a cliffhanger!
I absolutely love this series, but would like to see a more stable relationship between Lilah and Kane. I now look forward to the next book in the series.
I received an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
After reading the first book in this series, I was hooked. Lilah Love is an FBI profiler and based on her past experiences, she finds it easy to focus on the dark side of murder. She is an independent, determined and stubborn woman, who doesn’t like anyone standing in her way. She’s a little difficult to like until you learn more about her circumstances and her focus. After being sent to her hometown in Hamptons to work on some murders, she sees her first love, Kane Mendez. Between Kane and his dark family history, her brother, father, previous friends, etc., along with a stalker leaving her notes, she has a lot of people to focus on for the murders.
In this book, the story starts out slow but things begin to heat up with tense warnings, more deaths, and Lilah can’t forget her brutal past. Some questions that were unanswered in the first book, are answered here but more remain.
There are many secrets that have been buried and are coming to light as Lilah continues to search for clues. There is a lot of activity in this story with several twists and turns, leaving you wondering who to suspect. Everyone is hiding secrets and the story ends with even more questions to ponder.
Ms. Jones writes fast-paced suspense that is intriguing and leaves you wanting more. I love trying to figure out a mystery and pleasantly surprised when the direction changes.
The next book in the series will have Lilah still on the East Coast following orders but will still work on the murders and I look forward to reading it.
Thanks to Netgalley, the author and published for providing this book to read.
Another great series from Lisa Renee Jones. Murder, suspense and plenty of romance; this book has it all. In Murder Girl, we see Lilah being much more decisive about her actions, even though it is proving to be a difficult balancing act. She has to respect her badge, and keep her dark impulses in check. The only source of help she can turn to is her former lover and crime family scion, Kane Mendez.
4 stars.
Oh, thank god this didn't end in another cliffhanger. I don't think I could have dealt with another abrupt ending like book #1.
So FYI you have to read book #1 "Murder Notes " prior as it is essential reading before starting part two of this romantic suspense. It takes off where the first book ended.
Its not like everything is tied up in a nice pretty parcel at the end of this book but its more like these two books are the pilot and starting point for a new series featuring my new favorite: crude, rude, anti-heroine, FBI agent and profiler, the fabulous Lilah Love.
This book proved to be as fast paced as the first book and the way it is written also highlights more detail of our heroines character through her involved thought processes.
Lilah Love is a woman who lives so much in her own head that through this personal narrative we not only get to see how Lilah works so hard to solve her cases but who she is deep inside. I must admit that I did really enjoy that back and forth narrative as she works to solve the murder puzzle in her head.
But more especially I loved the fact that she is a total, no nonsense, make no apologies sort of gal and she doesn't believe in taking crap from anyone.
It is hard to reveal very much about this story without giving away too many important plot details, so I am just not going to say anything!!!
We have great secondary characters here and some interesting family dynamics . I also found it fascinating how the two significant men in Lilah's life are such different types (Rich and Kane) and why she is drawn to both of them for those different reasons.
Altogether a very different style from any of the previous books that I have read by Lisa Renee Jones but I really enjoyed this romantic suspense with its strong heroine and I will be looking out for future releases in this series.
ARC received in exchange for an honest review.
This is a fantastic conclusion to book one Murder Notes. The twists and turns were mind bending and honestly when you really thought maybe you had a handle on the story, you were so very wrong.
I loved Lilah, such a bad a** and Kane. I don't do spoilers and I'm not going to regurgitate the blurb. I can only highly suggest you read book one and you can jump right into this one. There's much to much going on in this book to elaborate on every detail only to say that even her own family falls under suspicion, her boss and the only person she really trusts is Kane. And that gets sketchy at times. Lilah is the ultimate FBI profiler, obsessive in her manner of dissecting, it's what makes her so good at her job. I white knuckled the last half of this one on my kindle.
It is clear to see that there will be future books coming based around this story and I think they will be as good as this duet.
Just as a note and it's my own opinion, nonetheless I'm sticking to it. The detail and dialogue at times slowed this book down where I felt could have been trimmed a bit without losing the story.
Hence my knocking off half a star for that.
That said, LRJ writes a great story here and you'd be missing out by not reading these two books.
4.5 stars
** arc from NetGalley and Publisher for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.**
I love this book, this series and especially the highly interesting Lilah Love. This book is just like the first full of suspense and intrigue and I didn't want to put it down. I finished this book with answers to some questions and then a whole new set of questions. Who can Lilah trust being the biggest. This book is so well written and fast paced and keep you guessing even after the last page is read. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
