I really was apprehensive about this book. Unfortunately I did not like it.
Now I'm all for cliche romances, some tropes are even my favorite but this one was too over the top. There was too much drama, but the major draw back was the girl on girl hate. I wish this trope would die, not all women need to be immediately jealous of other women for breathing. I am not ok with slut-shaming. This was just too much and I couldn't get past it to finish the book. I DNFed this around 40%.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately, it was a case of this book wasn't for me. The tag line spelled it out for me... revenge—sweet and hot—in the first book of this sexy and wickedly funny series. I was hoping for a hit out of the park. But for me, it didn't really read that way. The revenge part was definitely there...and well deserved. Not so much sweet. Hot... maybe to some. There was just a lot of over the top drama, slut shaming and spoiled stereotypes. *eek, I'm going to hide in the blankie fort* I did really enjoy the younger sister. She seemed real. And the writing flowed well. I didn't categorically dismiss the book... it just didn't grab my attention and keep it all the time.
Fling Club is an enjoyable read. While revenge can be fun, It’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
Cherry has lived the luxurious life, huge houses, old money and summers in the Hampton's. One person she didn’t ever think she’d meet was Ashley. The nerdy guy from MIT. There’s a plan for revenge, and they're all in the mix.
I always try to write my reviews with little spoilers as possible. I think what I liked most about this story. Is that Cherry grew as a character. She goes from this Rich girl, who doesn’t stand up for herself. To a girl who knows exactly what she wants. Even though, the basis of the story is revenge. I find that all of them found themselves in the process.
I’ve read Tara Brown before, and I loved what I had read. She has a way of building a story that you're able to lose yourself in it. The only reason this didn’t get a five, is that I didn’t emotionally connect with the characters. But there was never a moment that I wanted to stop reading.
Overall, I give this Four Boundless Stars.
This is a great summer YA read. Think mean girls mixed with cruel intentions. Sometimes we just need a book that although not life changing can give you lots of laughs and tons of drama. I really enjoyed the back and fourth love hate relationships between these girls. The revenge was perfect and I loved how it all turned out. Bring down the queen at all costs even when it could ruin everything. The writing style is unique and I enjoyed the characters you can’t help but love to hate them. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Well the writing is great, expressive and colourful. The plot is a bit confusing.
The blurb already gives away..... it's about vengeance.
Revenge is everything Cherry the heroine wants. She looks forward to take down Cait, the founder of Fling Club for everything she has ever done to her. To bring her to breake her own rules. What Cherry hasn't known, was, that Cait's nastiness and immoral behavior began with a heartbreak and therefore Cait wishes everyone else to feel as miserable and hurt as her.
Although this book is mostly about revenge it's also about growing feelings between main characters and learning to forgive.
I loved the end as it was nicely wrapped up and brought somewhat warmth and understanding of the whole story.
I couldnt get into this honestly, wasnt a favorite.. i didnt honestly like the plot characters or just the subgenre. But thats my personal prefrence though honestly.. not a reflection on the actual story itself
I really enjoyed Tara Brown's Born trilogy, and was excited to read a contemporary from her. The synopsis lured me in, as well, even though I tend to be a little meh about revenge plots.
This one wasn't for me, though. I had major issues with the voice. Everyone was so hateful, it was really hard to get into. I didn't expect it to be so full of hating on girls. I thought Cherry's POV was bad until I got to Ashley's.
I started this book despite not realizing it is part of a series....and i'm so glad i did.
I loved everything about this book. Rich verses Poor love story with a new twist.
So enjoyable....cant wait to go see what other books the author has written.
This book was pretty interesting. I liked the personality the author created for Cherry. Cherry’s journey towards finding her “true self” was an enlightening and actually, a fun one too.
Ashley was amazing. I loved him and his snark comments and wittiness.
Unfortunately the book was a DNF @ 75%. While the plot was entertaining, I couldn’t stay on track with the back and forth planning between Cherry, Rachel, Ella, etc.
This book had a lot of potential, I thought this book was going to be like Cruel Intentions
but man was i wrong this book is is just filled with slut shaming.
I tried to get past all the negative crap but it was just very hard for me to continue reading i dnf this book at 43%
Story with a new concept and that is what drew my attention to this book. Loved all the characters especially Ashley, although it took me a while to get comfortable with his name.
So why only three stars???? At time I felt like the book got “wordy” and dragged a bit. I found myself skimming forward to get back to parts of the story that I felt mattered.
Story definitely gets deep and I’m not sure I liked how that part was handled. I’m having mixed feelings.
I am interested in reading the next in the series and would like it to be Andy’s story. I want to know more.

"Back in the day, girls fought over guys, and of course jealousy ensued because guys were playing the girls. So, we took back the control. We decide who our fling is; we decide what kind of fling it is."
First and foremost, a massive thank you for NetGalley to provide this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you also to the publisher and author.
Okay, so this book is pretty conflicted for me. Let's just say if Mean Girls and Cruel Intentions had a love child, this book would be it. If you're looking for drama, twist, and revenge-driven kind of stories, then Fling Club is the perfect book for you.
Welcome to the world of upper-east-siders, rich-socialites, and spoiled rich kids. Oh yeah, everything is about to get twisted.
The Fling Club was supposed to a perfect summer getaway for the young, rich, and beautiful in the Hamptons. An elite club reserved to find and pick an arm-candy to show off to the Galas, Functions, and Dinners? That's what the Summer is all about for Cherry Kennedy, at least that's what she thought she wanted.
After finding out that her boyfriend cheated on her with her supposed to be best-friend slash founder of the Fling Club, Cait Landry, Cherry Kennedy was out for revenge. Thus, enter Ashley Jardine. Just the perfect guy to lure Cait out of her den.
Ashley was supposed to be the bait. With the offer, he couldn't afford to refuse and a Summer playing pretend in the Hamptons? He was all in. Except, he wasn't expecting a sudden attraction he felt for the girl he was in no way supposed to be feeling things for. Cherry and Ashley lived two different lives. So, how were they supposed to overcome their feelings for each other whilst seeking out revenge to drag down the she-devil herself?
This story is a bit different from the usual romance stories because this time it was the hero that got a full Cinderella make-over from geek to proper gentleman of the upper east side.
"You don't know my opinion of you. From the moment I met you, I thought about you. Watching you stare at that bun like it was going to be your last meal was hilarious. A girl after my own heart, I thought."
Although I admit, they both were cute together, the romance was probably overdone. I was not very into it at the beginning. It swayed from my main focus.
It was a bit rushed for them to feel the attraction, despite their dislike of each other's upbringing. But it was all set under a false pretense. It was a bit frustrating to see them quarrel because of this. But, I'm glad they could get it all out of their ways and made up. There were also some funny and snarky scenes from their interaction that made me laugh out loud.
"Flirt with you?" I got up, pacing in front of the fire. "Like how aggresively?"
"She's smaller than I imagined."
"Bonaparte was short as well. Didn't stop him from trying to take over the world"
What I like most about this story was character development of our Heroine, Cherry. She'd fought her own insecurities to not be the same girl she was and I admired that so much. I liked that the plot more or so revolved around her character and not just about her relationship with Ashley. In between her struggle to fit in with her 'society', with her revenge on Cait, and freeing herself from what was expected, she grew more comfortable on her own skin.
"I had a new checklist, and it didn't revolve around a guy. It was my own"
Yes! more female empowerment! I was so tired of girls defining herself and making her future based on who she's with. It's time to teach girls how to support who she is and standing up for herself! I am glad this story could teach us that. I'd be sure to look out for the next installment and Tara's other books.
All in all, I give this book 4 stars! If you're looking for a drama filled story with a little twist on the side, give Fling Club by Tara Brown a try.
Fling Club is a secret society organized by Caitlyn Landry, the queen bee of the Hamptons. Her best friend-slash-frenemy Cherry Kennedy was always Cait's yes-man.The duo ran the secret and manipulative club that has 10 rules to live by for the summer flings. Cherry blindly followed Cait with these rules. Until Cait committed the ultimate betrayal. Now, Cherry wants revenge in the form of destroying the club that Cait and Cherry built. Cherry couldn't enact her revenge alone. She has her older brother, Andy and baby sister, Ella to help her. The plan is to get Cait to break all of her Fling Club rules.
Ashley Jardine is a MIT robotics student who needs a summer job. His new "job" is to help the Kennedy children force Cait to break all ten of her rules. Ashley doesn't have a problem with manipulating the ice queen but he does fall for naive, Cherry.
Brown fills the novel with suspense, manipulation, sex, and self-awakening.
When you find your best friend sleeping with your boyfriend, maybe a revenge plan is in order.
Cherry hires Ashley to carry out her revenge plan on Kate. Problem is, Ashley likes Cherry.
I have to say that I find myself shocked by how good this book actually is. It is so much more than I was expecting. There is substance to the characters and storyline that I wasn't expecting at the beginning of the book.
The story starts with us finding out that Cherry's best friend slept with her boyfriend. Her brother is stunned and they plot revenge on Kate. Of course her brother is one of Kate's exes, so he has his own reasons for wanting this revenge. Ashley is hired to help carry out this revenge plot.
So much happens. Cherry and Ashley start to fall for each other and decide to date in secret. There scenes are HOT!
As the story progresses, we learn how awful Kate actually is. Her motives are jarring, but carrying out the plans for revenge that she has been doing is insane. Upon discovery of everything Kate is willing to do to her "friends," things go from bad to worse for everyone. And Kate will do anything in her means to keep Cherry and Ashley apart.
Again, I am thrilled with how well written, well developed and keep-you-on-your toes interesting this book it!
I was thinking this was going to be a fun summer revenge novel, and it was scooting right along until about 2/3 through. The story got pretty dark and it seemed very rushed.
I loved the concept of this book, but couldn't really get into it. The main character bored me straight from the beginning. The author was trying to show that she wasn't a mean girl like her friends, but she still needs to have a personality.
This book was pretty hard to get into. For the first 45% of the characters did not feel real to me and they actually felt like they didn't fit their names. For example, the main male character Ashley did not act/convey the character Tara Brown was trying to create. I felt as if the characters were teenagers when in reality they are in their very early twenties, characteristic wise it read as a YA book. The premise of the book is was got me interested so I forced myself to finish reading it and I'm glad I did. Mid way through I became fond of the main characters as well as the side characters like Ashley's dad and Cherry's sister. The main characters see huge growth in positive manner individually and as a couple. The author Tara Brown spins Fling Club as a romance which it definitely is but it is as a book about growth and self acceptance. I'm giving this 3 stars because the ending made up for the whole thing, there were quite a few funny moments, and the steamy scenes were A+
I received an ARC from Netgalley but this is 100% my own opinion.
Ok. So here’s the positive. If you’re looking for an over the top dramatic revenge plot story, that takes place during the summer in the Hampton’s, where a couple who isn’t meant to fall in love does, and where so many secrets and lies between a group of friends are uncovered your head will spin... then Fling Club, is a story you should buy as soon as it’s available! This story is a bit problematic for me for many reasons, but I pushed through and when I got to the end the moral is good. Hurt people, hurt people. And if you don’t realize that you’re acting out from your hurt, then you just end up hurting more people. You’ve got to let yourself heal, and not retaliate.
Sadly I can’t rate this book any higher than a three, because even though the characters were unlikeable with purpose (growth), I still just didn’t like very many of them. I also wasn’t pulled in by the falling for a dude you’ve hired to ruin a friend plot. I know that’s a plot so many people love, and I thought I was going to be into it. It just didn’t work for ME in this instance. I honestly think that other readers will enjoy this story though.
If you ENJOY drama on the level of Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars, minus all the death, then this story is a good one for you.
Unfortunately, this book didn't work for me. I couldn't finish reading it. The amount of hatred in this book was too unsettling for me and really hard to continue reading. I found the characters absolutely ridiculous and extremely unlikable. This book may work for others, but ultimately, didn't work for me.

This book was amazing. I really liked the character development of Cherry (Cheryl). She showed growth over the course of the book. I think that the author did a phenomenal job with her storytelling.
