This book gave me mean girls meets gossip girls vibes. It was funny, suspenseful, romantic, and just the right amount of steamy. I can’t wait to see what book 2 will be about

I wasn't sure what to think at the beginning of the book. It seemed like a bunch of spoiled rich kids and I almost didn't continue. Although I'm glad I did. Ashley was the saving grace.
Cherry well at first was the walking dead, Did a complete turnaround for the better.
And hello did not see that coming with Andy!
Once the story picked up speed I had to keep reading to see what was going to happen!

Fling Club, by Tara Brown, is described in the summary as “sexy and wickedly funny,” but it wasn’t for me. In fact, as I type this, I’m having trouble remembering laughing at all. Sexy is in the eye of the beholder but it wasn’t that for me either.

Cherry walks in on her boyfriend and her ‘fling club’ arch nemesis Cait having sex. She decides to use the club to get revenge against her. After all, sleeping with a ‘sister’s old leftovers’ is breaking one of the rules of this very exclusive club. Enter Ashely, MIT nerd desperately in need of a job to relieve the burden his education has caused his parents. He’s willing to accept the role, and all the faking that comes along with it in exchange for the obscene amount of cash he’s offered. Of course, nothing every goes according to plan. He didn’t expect to be attracted to Cherry, or that she’d be attracted to him. He didn’t expect to be quite so sickened by the spoiled rich kids he has to hang out with, or the outrageous lengths Cait is willing to go to in order to control everything and everyone, especially Cherry.

This book was compared to Cruel Intentions and Mean Girls, and while it was a similar trope, it didn’t have the same feel, at least not of the latter. Simply put, this book was not for me. I found it impossible to relate to the level of money or high society. They all just seemed ridiculous. And while I could relate to the idea of wanting to be popular or belong, I found myself constantly asking why anyone wanted to around or involved with any of these people. Everyone was so incredibly judgmental, including Ashley, who’s attitude surprised me most of all. These people were just mean, mean without a single redeeming quality. I felt no chemistry between Ashley and Cherry, so what developed between them felt insta-lovey and forced. In fact, for Cherry it seemed very physical at first, not emotional at all, especially the first time they were together. Where Brown had the ability to show me things developing between them, she told me instead. It made their story seem a bit choppy.

The cast of characters were as weak as the plot. I especially disliked Cherry’s brother Andy. He treated Cherry like she was stupid and worthless. Her sister Ella was better but at times treated Cherry the same way. I liked Rachel and her brother Ryan, and Ashley’s parents were nice. Oh, and Cherry’s dad. But none of these characters had much bearing on the plot. I liked how the girls from the club pulled together to help one another at the end. There are a couple of twists in the book that added interest to the plot. I wish that we were given more understanding of the why after finding out what happened. It made one already unbalanced character seem certifiable and the other callous. Both became almost inhuman at that point, and the whole story sort of crumbled to pieces there for me.

This book is filled with hatred and judgment. It didn’t feel like a romance. There just wasn’t enough heart. I was 30% in and had yet to like or respect a character. I was indifferent by the time I finished, happy there was some resolution for everyone, but detached. This book just wasn’t for me.

This book just wasn’t for me. The “mean girls” storyline paired with the high society backdrop was just too much drama and occasionally anxiety-inducing. Perhaps I’m too sensitive - or perhaps I’m too old for this kind of story - but DNF at 33%.

Really love Tara Brown. Her books are normally pretty intense and this one was no exception.

I loved the chemistry of the lead characters the love story between Ashley and cherry was amazing. I loved all the references of the tv shows and movies. It added to the high society twist and turns as cherry learns about the real her. Not the one she thought she should br

Five stars and here's why:

FLING CLUB is BRILLIANT. No joke. I laughed. I cried. I even dropped my phone/kindle app several times from laughing so hard some more. Tara Brown delivers an entertaining and original modern-day "Cruel Intentions" love story. Seriously.

I love the premise. One rich girl. One poor guy. And a major payback scheme of epic proportions. What could possibly go wrong? I simply devoured this story in one sitting. You will, too.

If you love hella-hot, nerdy guys, sassy, smart girls, and a rom-com ending that’ll make your head spin, then this book is for you! Highly recommend!

This is you know when you are getting older. Books other people love, you scratch your head at. Drama.... not my thing. I tried to like this one. I tried many times to read it after putting it down. No matter how hard I tried, it wasn't for me. I honestly did not even bother to finish it.
