As soon as I was able to get my greedy little hands on this, I was set! Most of the time a suspenseful read isn't my thing because I feel like everything happening can be guessed so easily. So when it comes to this series, I'm just in love. With the writing, with the characters, with the story.

Alyssa has been there from the get go. As the police officer on the case, to the girlfriend of a murderer, to a woman wanting a man. That man being Kipling Benedict. The one she arrested and can't get out of her mind. She is drawn to him in more than one way and she doesn't know how she should handle it. Throw in some "life in danger" stuff and things are put into perspective.

Kipling has led a life of a bachelor. People think he is a playboy and he let's them. It's to help safe guard his heart. But with Alyssa, he sees that she doesn't look at him with greed or money in her eyes. She's always fighting back with him and pretty much putting him in his place. And he likes it.... A lot! So he lays it down for her and let's her know he's in it to win it.

Romance aside, they have threats coming at them from all angles. They seem to be ready to end all this madness but new twists keep popping up. How they handle those is what makes this ending nice and tidy.

Well written and a darn good ending, loved it!

Lately it has been a string it seems I gravitate towards romantic suspense. I guess it is like food you feed what it craves. This is a new to me author but it tempted me and drew me in. You get these bits of three different mysteries that will later weave together as one which I like stuff like that. It keeps you on your toes and in wonderment along with the characters that are bringing the answers. The romance in this is just the right level that adds to the element of this read which I do believe it had even a bit of heat too. This one centers around Alyssa and Kipling. Having not read the previous ones does not matter even though it would of added to the intensity. As things unravel and reveal you are drawn so deep you forget to come out at times. The danger level does reach peaks also that heightens it all. By the time I was finished with this one I was a little sad could of read more.

Broken Promise
Sons of Broad #3
Tara Thomas
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great conclusion to this series. Really enjoyed reading these books by this author.

Charleston Police Officer Alyssa Adams made a promise years ago to protect innocent women from harm. Now, she won’t rest until she can reunite every lost daughter with her family. Bring closure to every grieving husband. And, most of all, find out what happened the night her own sister disappeared, more than ten years ago…

As the eldest of the Benedict brothers, Kipling will stop at nothing to protect his family from a threat that aims to destroy them once and for all. But when a long-lost sibling is kidnapped by a powerful adversary, Alyssa is the only one he can turn to to get her back.

As Alyssa and Kipling band together to find their lost siblings, a powerful attraction builds between them that they can’t ignore. As the truth comes to light, will one broken promise tear them apart?

I look forward to reading more from Tara Thomas.

Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Broken Promise is book 3 of the Sons of Broad series. You can read it as a standalone as I did, but I recommend reading the first 2 books in the series for a better background on the characters. This book is very well written, flows well, and keeps your attention from page one. There is push and pull between the main characters Alyssa and Kipling. Their attraction to each other eventually boils over, and it is so good when it does.

The plot keeps you engaged with the murder/kidnapping/mystery that the characters are dealing with. Everything wraps up well and the story ends on a HEA. I would shelve this under Mystery more than Romance, but it was a great read and I look forward to more books by Tara Thomas.

Read this series in order - The story will stoa dup on its own but you'll be missing some pieces.

I have to admit that this was my least favorite of the series - novels & novellas. Something just didn't flow the same for me. Still a well written romantic suspense that wraps things up nicely.

Broken Promise is the third book in Tara Thomas’ Sons of Broad series set in Charleston, South Carolina. I enjoy romantic suspense but had never read any of Thomas’ previous books. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am planning to go back and read her others.

The heroine, Alyssa Adams, is a detective in the Charleston Police Department. She is contacted by Kipling Benedict, a man she has a complicated history with. He needs her help finding his kidnapped sister. She agrees and what follows is a well-written, fast-paced book with lots of twists and turns. There is good character development throughout the book, the plot is well thought out, and the scenes are well written.

I would recommend reading the two earlier books in the series first. I did not do that. And while I kept up okay with the plot, I think it would be a far richer read (the difference between four and five stars) if you start with the other books in the series. All the characters have complicated backstories that I did not know. The relationship between the hero and the heroine actually begins in a previous book. And the enemy is one that has been introduced and drawn out over several stories. So, it was a bit of a challenge to jump right into this.

All things considered though, this book was a highly enjoyable way to spend a few hours.

**I received an ARC of Broken Promise in exchange for my honest review!**

YES!!!! Broken Promise by Tara Thomas was a 5-star from me!!!
I was a huge fan of Darkest Night, the first book in this series...and this second book in the series just added to my appreciation of Tara Thomas and her writings!!!

Kipling Benedict, a wealthy, handsome man, has an interest in Officer Alyssa Adams...the officer who had to investigate and arrest him.
Jade, the Benedict brother's half sister, has been trying to escape "the Gentleman", but is trying to keep the Benedict brothers safe.
Will Kipling and Alyssa work through their banter and secrets of their past and find love?
There are a few different story lines and twists and turns in this book and they are SO WELL DONE!!! This book flowed so nicely and was such an emotional book! I loved this followup book and can't wait for Twisted End...the third novel in this swoon-worthy series!

I received an ARC copy of this book for review. This was a great story! It was the first book I read in this series but was easily able to follow along with quick recaps from the previous books intertwined with current situations. It was also nice to see were it all started. I really enjoyed the relationship between the two leads and their supporting characters/ family and while Kipling and Alyssa had some spice with their romance it wasn’t overdone. This wasn’t any overly romance driven book, more of a soft touch. The key was how they worked together to solve the mystery and their dynamic relationship showed a good balance between the leads-he wasn’t too domineering and she wasn’t a weak flower. I have already gone and bought the first two books in the series and hope for a little more from this series in the future. I would definitely recommend this book

I think this one is my favorite of all three of the books.

Lots of action and adventure. And something about Jade in this one just warms my heart.

There are a ton of errors in this copy, but I’m hoping they’re corrected before Broken Promise goes live!

I really love Kipling, I didn’t think I would but he may just be my favorite. :)

If you love a good thriller, with a side of romance I’d suggest this one. This love story has been a long time coming.

I liked the idea and the characters but my reading experience suffered because I read this book without reading the ones that came before it. I was honestly lost from the very beginning. I think it says a lot about the quality of writing that I kept reading. I liked the story enough that I really do want to start the series from the beginning.

Although this is the 3rd book of the series I was able to understand the story
I really liked this story and thought the author did a fantastic job. The interesting part in the story was how Kipling and Alyssa were able to work together and finding a common ground on solving who was behind the killings. Sometimes I love to see a happy endings. Now I have to go back and read the others.

Tara Thomas’ Broken Promise tells the story of Kipling and Alyssa as they fall in love while trying to rescue his half sister from a kidnapper. This is the third book in the Sons of Broad series, and having not read the first two books in the series, I feel like it would be helpful to do so. The plot has a lot of promise but there are points of the story where things get really implausible, both in what characters do or don’t do and how interconnected they seem to be. There are many points where they story flows well, but there are also points where the writing seems choppy and over simplistic. While the storyline is a stretch at times it does keep the book more interesting than a romance novel with a flimsy or nonexistent plot and the two main characters are enjoyable.

Great mystery! I love when characters get bounced around all over the place - I get to see all the sites just like a tourist. I can't wait to read the first two books in this series to learn the stories of the other two brothers.

This book was suspenseful and takes the reader down a twisted path of murder, scandal and romance. A unknown killer is tracking down members of the Benedict family. Throw an unknown family member, some romance, and the hunt for a killer and you have a thrilling story. I enjoyed the twists and turns and found it hard to put down until the very end.

This is a good solid read. Broken Promise is the third and final book in this series however can be read as a stand alone. With that being said, I wish I would have read the first two because I think the backstory of the character would have made this story better (like five stars). There is sexy scenes in the book but not overwhelming. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good suspense romancic story.

Broken Promise is book three in the romantic suspense series the Sons of Broad. This book can be read as a standalone but a lot of the backstory in the characters' lives will be lost. At his brother's vow renewal, Kipling Benedict, head of the family, comes face to face with officer Alyssa Adams. Officer Adams arrested and humiliated Kipling in the past and cannot stand him. Yet he still finds her the sexiest challenge he has ever had. With past betrayals, neither one is looking for a relationship, but danger and adrenaline heat their blood and bring their attraction to the forefront. The couple must race to save Kipling's half sister from the mad man, the Gentleman, who just keeps plotting against the Benedicts. The past is front and center as unexpected links to Alyssa 's murdered sister and the Benedict family's friend collide in twists and turns that keeps the pages flying by. Fast paced and action packed, the story unfolds quickly with explosive chemistry between Alyssa and Kipling and a nice, somewhat predictably, sweet HEA. A bonus Sons of Broad novella is included that is just as action packed and has a buoyant HEA. Two feel good stories, full of memorable characters that will keep you coming back for more, rolled into one book for a wonderful read. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

Third in this series. All the plot twists come to fruition and there are some well kept secrets here. The previous books are not necessary to understand the story, but they would enhance this read. I knew who the bad guy was before starting this and he is a piece of work. There is steam but the story is not overwhelmed with it. A lot of intrigue and just plain crazy. Good read.

Alyssa is a cop who has been tracking someone who’s kidnapping and killing women. The more she investigates, the more she thinks it’s the same one who killed her sister years ago. Now someone is after her and Kipling. Kipling is the oldest brother of the Benedict’s and was arrested once by Alyssa who thought he was a criminal. They are running for their life, trying to find a killer and falling in love.
I don’t want to give too much away. This is a series that needs to be read from the first. Suspense, secrets, and sexy. I absolutely loved it. Kept me reading late into the night.

I have to say that this book was my favorite of the bunch, we finally finally got some answers. And while I had wondered about this character before, since it was barely mentioned I discarded this individual. What I liked about this book, was the going into the past and why this person did what they did. And I am glad that we got an HEA and everyone and everything was tied neatly in a knot..

Broken Promises is the third and final book in the romantic suspense Sons of Broad series. This series got better each book and I am really happy how the author finished it. I think the main reason I enjoyed this book more than the previous ones are the characters. They were adults and acted in a way that made sense. Alyssa is a police officer and her behavior reflected her profession. Kipling is the oldest brother and is very protective. The tension between these two was noticeable in the previous books. I loved seeing how these two came together, and wished there were a couple more scenes showing them being intimate.

In this book there are a couple of twists and turns, and I was happy I finally found out who was terrorizing this family. I loved how everything eventually fit together and having all the answers to my questions. I am really hoping for a novella showing how all the couples are doing in the future. The suspense was perfect, I was just hoping for a bit more romance. The writing was excellent and I loved the writing style, because it was really easy to read. I just wished the book was a bit longer, however I am satisfied with how everything concluded. I am looking forward to reading more books by Tara Thomas.
