My first read by this author and I give it 3 stars. A good romance and a perfect holiday read. I would begin with the first book in the series for background information. Thanks to Net Galley for my copy. Review on Goodreads, Amazon and Facebook.

Broken Promise brings answers to so many unanswered questions from the previous books, and ends the series with a flourish.

Alyssa didn't follow her dreams because she made a promise when she was a young girl. She joined the police forces with one objective in mind. Protect women!

Kipling, the eldest of the Benedict brothers is the head of the family and their successful business. Despite the adverse portrayal of the media, he is very much a family man. He doesn't trust women due to a bad experience.

Kipling and Alyssa are always butting heads. There is an underlying attraction between them and Alyssa has no intention of acting on it. She has worked with the Benedicts in the past year due to threats on various members of the family.

Kipling's long lost sibling is abducted and he turns to Alyssa for help. She starts to reveal her past to him and find that there is a common thread between what happened to her sister and the threats on the Benedicts. This convinces her to cooperate with Kipling as they both want to put an end to the uncertainties of those dangerous threats.

As they spend time working on the case, the attraction between them intensifies and they eventually stop resisting even though Alyssa has reservations about their status. It appears that the enemy is always a step ahead of them and there is danger in every corner. It turns out that "The Gentleman" is not so much of a mystery as his reasons for relentlessly persuing them. They find evidence that what happened years ago and the present events are all tied to the same individual. They then fall into a deadly trap where "The Gentleman" appears to be have the upper hand. Will they be able to save their sibling and themselves?

This is a very well paced story riddled with mystery and suspense. The romance between Kipling and Alyssa is as funny as it is hot. Once they acknowledge their feelings, their love is something to behold. It's an intricate puzzle which is nicely put together to solve the mystery behind all the horrors. A great read.

I received an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

It took me a little bit to get everyone straight because I hadn't read the previous books it didn't stop me from needing to figure out this mystery. I was texting my blog partner, who had read the rest of the series, asking who The Gentleman is. She said she didn't know but hoped to find out in this story. I was sucked into trying to put the pieces together and unravel the twisted story-line. I also fell for these characters and all of the pain and love that had gone on in their lives. The author did a brilliant job creating mystery, suspense, heat, and romance.

4.25-4.5 STARS

In this third installment to author Tara Thomas’ Sons of Broad series, the puzzle pieces finally fall into place with the telling of Alyssa & Kipling’s sexy, suspenseful story. Through a series of flashback scenes interspersed throughout, “The Gentleman’s” identity is at last revealed, along with the reason behind his vengeful vendetta. Add Alyssa and Kipling’s steamy romance into the mix, and “Broken Promise” delivers a series finale that’s both captivating and befitting.

Taking a leave from the Charleston Police Department, Officer Alyssa Adams teams up with the eldest Benedict brother, Kipling, embarking on a journey that is paved with a myriad of twists and turns. And as they navigate their way through the secrets that are eventually laid bare before them, they are shocked to discover that their respective families are connected in ways that neither one could ever have imagined. But while the story’s suspenseful premise is what initially drew me in, it’s the emotional and physical connection between this mismatched pair that held me captive all the way throughout.

Please note: each book in this romantic suspense series builds upon the other, so it is best to start from the very beginning.

Received in exchange for a honest review.

I was waiting for Kipling’s story and wasn’t disappointed.

Kipling is the oldest Benedict brother and when you first read about him he seems really cold and distant but he is the opposite. In fact he is smart, sexy and generous. When he learns of Jade there is no anger towards her but wanting to know her. The only person that throws him is Alyssa. She is someone he is insanely attracted to and wants but doesn’t have. In this book, they are in a race of their lives. Trying to figure out who is after the Benedicts and why. But also trying to help Alyssa rest her demons and complete her promise made to her sister all those years ago.

Alyssa is the detective who has worked the Benedict’s cases from the beginning. She is sharp as a tack and has a tongue to go with it. She is kind and devoted as well. Her attraction to Kipling is one she fights at first due to him being a Benedict which has her coming off looking like an elitist but she isn’t. She is more afraid than anything else. After the fallout from her last relationship she is scared and less confident in herself in this arena.

Now they are together trying to solve murders and put a stop to the danger surrounding them and it is a wild ride.

The attraction and interaction between Alyssa and Kipling is sensual to say the least. Kipling banters in innuendo with her most of the time but has a healthy respect for her. He trusts her with him and his family’s lives which says a lot. He also is serious when needed with her. He takes her opinions very seriously and listens to her. Alyssa dishes out as much as she gets and it makes this a fun relationship to watch blossom. Their romance is a sensual balm that has you smile.

The story and how Alyssa’s past intertwines into the danger and who they are hunting is amazing. Well written, addictive and intriguing. I love where we see what drives the Gentleman and how deranged he really is. When it comes to a head wowza just wowza. And that ending so amazing. You see family and love shine through but the love for Kipling Alyssa has is just a beacon for him and beautiful.

A great story from start to finish that keeps you on your toes as Alyssa and Kipling play cat and mouse with the Gentleman as they find out who he is and work to bring him down and end it all while falling in love.

Still reeling from discovering that he had a younger half-sister, Kipling Benedict and Officer Alyssa Adams were drawn into a web of destruction by someone threatening to kill the entire Benedict family and destroy the empire they had built in Charleston. Determined to save Jade, Kipling’s sister, and to finally solve the mystery of her sister Allison’s murder, Alyssa throws herself into the fray, working closely with Kipling, and of course, falling in love with him despite the dangerous situations they found themselves in.

I read the first book in this series, and wasn’t a fan, honestly. This one was marginally better, but I felt there were too many storylines that unsurprisingly lined up at the end. There’s just more drama than I care to read about, and I couldn’t relate to any of the characters.

In Broken Promise the diabolical Gentleman is revealed and I learned why he is tormenting the Benedict Family. I was stunned by the unexpected twists. This book pulled me in and kept me reading. The action was non-stop. I loved the romance between Kipling Benedict and Police Officer Alyssa Adams. Their attraction has been simmering for some time. I was glad to see them become a couple. I've been waiting for them to act on their chemistry. Tara Thomas has created larger than life characters, a romantic thriller with a deadly adversary and a family that won't stop fighting.
I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.

If you're looking for a truly astounding read this summer. Then you must pick up a copy of Broken Promise a romantic thriller by Tara Thomas.

I had the pleasure of reading this book and like the other books in the Sons of Broad series, this book did not fail to entertain. Though I would recommend reading the books in order of publication. Broken Promise was very intense.

It carried a steady pace throughout the course of the book. I don’t know what book in the series I enjoyed more, though Broken Promise would have to top the list.

Which make this entire series a keeper. With fantastic character building and a flawless plot. Broken Promise was one of my summer guilty pleasures.

Do I Recommend this book? Oh hell yes!!

Notes and Opinions: I freaking loved this series and I'm upset it's over though I was excited to find out who The Gentleman was! This was my favorite book of the whole series. Once you get into this book, there is no stopping. It's go, go, go with the plot. Kipling has to be my favorite brother. His relationship with Alyssa was different from the others. There was some romance but they focused more on solving the mystery. The whole situation was who The Gentleman is was very creepy and sort of anti-climatic. I wish there was a more with him at the end. But overall, get this series. You won't regret it one bit!

Review:

I very much enjoy reading this series.

This book starts out after the ending of the second book. I would recommend reading the books in order because of the mystery/suspense that runs through all the books. Alyssa and Kipling were super likable and had great chemistry. I liked their past interactions and the chemistry running between them during each meeting. One thing I found hard to maneuver in the first book was the amount of characters, but this has gotten much better as the series has come along, it is easy to keep everyone straight and what their motivations are. I don't want to give away too much of the plot so as not to ruin it for others. I will say the wrapping up of some of the storylines was very satisfying. There is a lot of action, but there is romance and some good sexy moments too. The romance and these two lovers coming back together was very well-done and I was rooting for them to be together.

Very well-done romantic suspense!

4Stars

I really enjoyed this one, the conclusion of the Sons of Broad series was one of those books that once you start reading you don't want to put down. Compared to the previous installments, I had the feeling that the author had improved the flow of the story and the way she handled the multiple point of views.
I loved the way this story jumps right into the action and suspense while also building the chemistry and connection between Alyssa Adams and Kipling Benedict. The suspense in this book was worthy of nail biting. So much suspense as Alyssa and the Benedict brothers race against time to help identify and bring down the Gentleman.
Alyssa and Kipling’s relationship solidifies around the action involving the villain of this story, which made this another easy and enjoyable read. These two were perfect for each other. Alyssa is sassy, strong and smart. She loves a challenge and never backs down. Kipling is a swoon worthy hero with just the right mix of possessiveness and protectiveness.
Tara Thomas brings back all of the characters from the series’ s first books and novellas. The mystery surrounding the identity of the Gentleman raises the stakes of the story for them. The danger presented by his actions adds stress and tension to an already volatile situation.
Overall, this final installment was action packed, adrenaline fueled, had great side characters, and a sweet romance. The author did a great job of tying up all loose ends and giving me a very satisfying ending.

Brought to you by OBS reviewer Heidi

The Benedicts now know that Jade is their sister, a product of one of their father’s secret affairs. They would like to welcome her into the family, but they don’t know where she is! Kipling teams up with police officer, Alyssa, to try to find her. However, Alyssa’s present starts to feel like a repeat of the past when Kipling gets a call that Jade has been kidnapped! He must follow The Gentleman’s instructions if he ever wants to see his sister alive again. He just never expected to have to choose between Jade and Alyssa!

I actually really enjoyed this installment of the series. I love Kipling anyway, so a book featuring him was no hardship for me! We finally figure out what The Gentleman has against the Benedicts and how everything that has happened so far ties together.

Also, this author or editor (not sure which is responsible) has finally discovered page breaks! Hallelujah as that has been a complaint of mine in every book of this series so far! There are still a few places that it was missing one, but it’s a vast improvement! The wrong words in places is still an issue, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as the previous book, Deadly Secret.

The edition of the book I read for this review also included a bonus scene. It was a great scene! I loved Knox’s speech and the nice sappy ending that left me grinning like a love-sick idiot!

Everything was tied up in a nice neat bow, so I’m not expecting any more books from this series, but you just never know!

As this is a new-to-me author, and I haven't read the other two books in the series, I wasn't sure what to expect. I enjoyed the characters and storyline, although it did take me a little bit to get into it, I did like the book overall.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, St. Martin's Press, via NetGalley. My thoughts, opinions, and reviews are my own and without bias.

Thank you St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is book three of the Sons of Broad series. While I haven't read the other books in the series, I only hope that they are as good as this one!

Officer Alyssa Adams has never gotten over the fact that her sister had gone missing years before. Kipling Benedict has a secret sibling who has now been kidnapped. When this twist of fate causes her to team up with Kipling, she's forced to work with the man she's always tried to avoid.

The chemistry between these two characters is palpable and full of fire. You can tell from the first few pages of the book how Kipling feels for Alyssa, although he's been burned in the past and has no desire to ever be romantically involved with someone again. I enjoy books that combine romance and suspense in such a way that you are drawn in almost immediately. I highly recommend this book.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is the third installment of the Sons of Broad series and this book required the previous books to feel engaged with the storyline. While I was able to read this in one sitting, and the pace of the content was continual, it felt disjointed at times.

The story revolves around the Benedict brothers and Kipling is the center of this book. He is a confirmed bachelor who wants to figure out the events that have happened to his family but soon needs the help of his adversary, Allison, the officer who arrested him from the previous book. The two realize there is chemistry between them and try to prevent a connection but they soon join forces to solve a kidnapping that involves Kipling's sister. As they get deeper into the investigation, they discover there is a link between the kidnapping and the murder of Allison's sister many years ago.

Time is running out as they try to locate Jade, Kipling's sister, but the kidnapper is a step ahead of them and their own lives are in danger. The kidnapper is sinister and devious and has been waiting over 40 years to exact his revenge against the Benedict family. The story has a dramatic ending and leaves an opening to continue the series.

Broken Promises is part of a series and while it can be read as a stand alone novel I think readers will benefit from starting with book 1 instead of book 3.

Tara Thomas is able to bring readers into the world that is part soap opera with missing sisters, cheating spouses and a sister no one knew about. Romance that will have readers needing more and mystery that will have readers needing more after that finished the book.

Broken Promises is a romance where readers know there will be a HEA but it isn't about finding out who is the killer or if they main characters find they are meant for each other. This story is about the journey that brings two people who are meant to be together.

The banter at times flows will with the story and other time feels forced. This is a must read for Romantic Suspense readers.

I should have referred back to my review of book one; the author didn’t leave me caring to find out what happens next. This story does unravel the mystery of The Gentleman so there is that. I still found I did not like this author’s writing style.
