This was pretty good. It's part of a series and I didn't read the other books first, so i was a little lost at first but it turned out ok. This was suspenseful and had romance to it. I liked the writing style and it flowed smoothly. The characters were great. I liked the mystery and it had me on the edge of my seat at moments.

A good storyline and interesting characters,it would have been better tho if I had read the previous books for more background to references made in the book.

After the disappearance of her sister a decade ago, Charleston cop. Alyssa Adams has made it her business to find every missing woman so that no family member will have to experience the agony she has. When the relative of a powerful family is kidnapped, her brother turns to Alyssa for help finding her. Kipling and Alyssa have much in common and together, they will do whatever it takes to uncover the truth about their missing siblings. Taut and realistic

I want to thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for offering me this book free for honest review.

Overall I enjoyed this story but not as much as the 1st in this series. It seemed a little "copy and paste" to me. Same family, the same type of story, just a little generic. But overall it was enjoyable.

I DNF’d the first book, skipped the second, and only picked up the third on a lark, so I honestly didn’t have high expectations for BROKEN PROMISE. It wasn’t a DNF, but I also can’t really call it ‘good’: the characters (including the protagonists) were bland and unengaging, the plot (which spans all the books in the series) unevenly paced and not very believable, and the editing was atrocious (this, at least, will hopefully be fixed in the final version). I think Tara Thomas just doesn’t do it for me.

I read the first book in this series, not the second yet so going into the third was a little bit of a leap, but not so confusing that I was lost because I wasn't. This last book was such a great suspense romance hot, tense and twisty just the way I like them. I enjoyed the writing and characters, with lots of action and adventure and it definitely makes me want to read book#2 even though I might already know the answers.

Slow growing plot that is finally coming to a head with lots of build up and heat between two characters that were at odds. A little heavy on the romance, a little light on the suspense.

I received this ARC copy of Broken Promise from St. Martin's Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. Broken Promise is set for publication June 26, 2018.

This story is a romantic suspense story in my opinion and usually I am not a big fan of these stories mainly because they are just not my kind of story. This story was offered to me to review and because I have read other books by Tara, I jumped at it. Tara’s writing for me is addictive and fun to read.

Alyssa is a member of the police force and she is thrown into a new mission with Kipling Benedict which involves them both in a way that they don’t actually realise. They have a very profound connection with each other and in my eyes, I can see them as people who are flawed but courageous.

However, the story pace was a bit slow and at some times a bit too much for me, I think this is one of her weaker stories which is a shame because I have enjoyed stories by her in the past. This is just my opinion though, I am sure other readers will connect to it better than I did.

I would have never guessed the turn that the story took. Hold onto your hat, my head was spinning. It was really good.

I didn't realise that this is book 3 in a series, so I had to go back and read the other 2 before I could review properly. This was a very satisfying end to a very readable series. The characters had had plenty of time to develop over the series and it really showed in this book as I was invested in their stories and the outcomes of their threads. The ending was unpredictable and was revealed bit by bit rather than in a glut of information. A very satisfying series.

This was a thrilling conclusion to the Sons of Broad series! This is the third book of a romantic suspense trilogy focusing on the influential Benedict family. This book highlights Kipling, the oldest brother, and police officer Alyssa Adams, and their steamy relationship as they face the evil and mysterious adversary, The Gentleman.

I enjoyed the previous two books and recommend that this series be read in order because key information is revealed throughout the series as the mystery and suspense builds. This may be confusing to read as a standalone.

A stunning conclusion to the Benedict Brothers novels. This one focuses on Kipling, the oldest Benedict brother, & Alyssa, the police officer that has been helping on this case. Benedict finds out why Alyssa is determined to help with this case at any cost. The sparks continue to fly between them. We also find out the mastermind behind all of the attacks from the previous books. Will they be able to catch him in time? This is well worth the read to find out.

Broken Promise is a continuation story from Darkest Night by author Tara Thomas. While I did enjoy reading Broken Promise, it felt just a little short in the excitement part when it comes to action and mystery. Broken Promise didn't have the same nail-biting anticipation and mystery that Darkest Night had, but it was still enjoyable to read to the end.
In Broken Promise, the beginning chapters were a bit slow and dragged. It's not until towards the end of the story that the action really picked up. In the beginning and middle, there were too much thoughts about how the main characters Alyssa and Kipling felt about each other. It was like the author just wanted to drag it out to fill up the pages. While establishing a romance seemed important to the story, it did not need to be explained over and over again throughout the entire book. I got that they felt attraction for each other. I got that they denied their attraction due to Alyssa's supposed social status. And I got that they had a huge mystery to solve. I was just looking more for the mystery and the identity of the main bad guy to move along quicker.
The story itself is still interesting where we see supporting characters from Darkest Night still part of the plot. The main bad guy was written well as was the kidnapped sister.
Overall, it was still well written but I only wished the story could have moved along faster.
Thank you for the ARC!

In Broken Promise, we meet police officer Alyssa Adams who has been striving to find her sister's murderer who died when she was a young girl and her reason for joining the Charlston P.D.

Kipling Benedict the eldest of the Kipling siblings and the head of Benedict Industries, was betrayed by whom he thought was the love of his life, in college, and applies a 'one and done ' philosophy to his liaisons with females.

In the process of her investigation of a recent case, Alyssa has questioned Kipling Benedict to no avail. Despite this, she can't deny that she finds him attractive. Through mutual friends and some family members, Alyssa is on Kipling's radar too but Alyssa refuses his dinner invitation.

Things however change when a previously unknown sister suddenly disappears. Kipling approaches her and requests her help to find his sister, before it's too late.

It is obvious that there are earlier novels in this series. However, it is not absolutely necessary to have read earlier works to fully enjoy Broken Promise.

This is a story of familial love, heartbreak and resilience. Alyssa never gives up the hope that she will one day find her sister's killer.

The romance that develops between Kipling and Alyssa, although heart-warming, plays a secondary role in the telling of this story. The intrigue that is nurtured throughout prevents this from being a run of the mill love story and provides a level of mystery that adds to the enjoyment , in my opinion.

Although this is the first work that I've read from this author, it won't be the last!

Broken Promise is the third book in the Sons of Broad Trilogy by Tara Thomas and focuses on eldest son, Kipling Benedict and Officer Alyssa Adams.

Years ago, a tragedy shaped Alyssa Adams' future, turning her from her dream of pursing a degree in history to a career in law enforcement. She made a promise to protect women from harm and to find out who murdered her sister. What she never planned on was Kipling Benedict or the shocking connection between her family and his.

Kipling Benedict's family has been through a lot. First his brother Keaton and his fiancé were targeted and the family housekeeper was shot, then his brother Knox's wife was attacked and the man they hired as a bodyguard for Bea turned out to be that attacker, evidence uncovered that the plane crash that killed his parents years earlier was no accident, and now the madman orchestrating all of these plots against the Benedict family and their nearest and dearest has kidnapped Jade, the sister Kipling didn't know he had until recently. He'll have to work closely with Officer Alyssa Adams to uncover the identity of the man targeting his family before it's too late. But will he and Alyssa be able to ignore their undeniable connection? Or will they give into one another?

Of the three main books in this series, Broken Promise was the most predictable and anti-climactic book in my opinion. It also felt shorter than the other two, but that might be my imagination. I had an inkling of who The Gentleman was in Darkest Night but I wasn't positive until his identity was revealed in Broken Promise. His motivation for attacking the Benedict family was a bit of a disappointment. I expected a better - or maybe juicer is the better word - motive than what his reasoning turned out to be. It was unoriginal.

Thankfully, all unanswered questions from past books seem to be wrapped up in Broken Promise which is a huge relief as the reader sees everything come together.

Overall, this book is a quick, enjoyable read and a must if you've read the first two books and the novellas that come with the series but in my opinion it's more predictable and not quite as good as the first two books.

The wait is finally over as the identity of The Gentleman is revealed. I had a hunch about who he was but I'm not too proud to say my presumptive suspicion was way off.

Alyssa Adams became a police officer in the hope she could solve the crime leading to her own sister's death. During her investigations, she constantly crosses paths with the Benedict family and the oldest brother, who she once arrested is becoming more of a distraction as they both become targets of The Gentleman.

Kipling Benedict, the eldest brother with a womanising reputation like his father's. His brothers may have found their true loves, but after a humiliating break-up with a woman he loved, he has sworn off women until officer Adams catches his eye. After a family secret unfolds which connects the two, they work alongside each other as professional lines become blurred.

As I dived into Broken Promise, what surprised me the most was how the author tied up all the loose ends as the crimes in Savannah are solved. The high points in the narrative are the flashbacks giving us information about the motivation fuelling The Gentleman's crimes. These fit perfectly with the clues already identified. The romance between the protagonists is sexy and I enjoyed catching up with the other Benedict men and their women and happy the whole family are reunited with their sister. As in the earlier instalments, both have heart-warming and heartbreaking moments and a satisfying Happy Ever After.

Overall, an enjoyable romantic suspense trilogy. I read the three prequel novellas before starting this series and although it's not necessary to read them before this series, I feel they enhance the series.

Broken Promise is book 3 in the Sons of Broad series by Tara Thomas, and it finally brings us the answers we've been waiting for from the start. The Benedict family and those close to them have been targeted and terrorized by the Mysterious "Gentleman" all through this series, with no clue as to why. Through a series of flashback information, we find out who The Gentleman is, and how he came to be what he is today.

Book 3 focuses on the eldest Benedict brother, Kipling and police office Alyssa Adams. We actually first met Alyssa in the three novellas that accompany this series, which is actually where we first met The Gentleman as well, and we met Kipling in book 1 of the series, Darkest Night. From the very beginning, Kipling and Alyssa have been doing this dance around each other. Kipling constantly teasing and throwing sexual innuendos at Alyssa, which she has been brushing off. She can't have anything to do with him, she's a police officer who arrested Kipling at one point in time
during her investigation into events that have all been orchestrated by The Gentleman. But that part is behind them, and Kipling is determined to pursue something with the beautiful officer.

This book throws in a lot of twists and turns, Kipling and Alyssa being connected to all of the events happening in ways they never could have imagined. And slowly through the story, through the flashbacks we are given, we find out exactly how they and their families are involved in this huge tangled web The Gentleman has created.

I really enjoyed this third book the most in the series. I have enjoyed them all, but I think I liked this one the best because we get answers! We find out exactly how Jade, the mysterious girl who had been under the tutelage of The Gentleman, is connected to BOTH Alyssa and Kipling. The drama and suspense certainly ramped up to new levels in this installment. And the sexy times between Kipling and Alyssa were hot!!

I had been in a sort of reading rut prior to starting this series by Tara Thomas, and moving to this romantic suspense series was just what I needed to get out of that rut! I highly recommend it as a great series to get your feet wet with if you have not ventured into romantic suspense yet. And if you've started this series but have not read the three accompanying novellas that tell the story of Janey and Brent, I highly recommend reading them as well. Very enjoyable, all of the books have been! I am excited to see what Tara has in store for us next!

NetGalley and St. Martin's Press provided me an advance copy of the book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

I was proved an advanced copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This story and series had a lot of potential. I feel like there were the makings of a good suspense/mystery story but it definitely took a back seat to the romance side. Don't get me wrong, I generally read a lot of romantic suspense stories, but I appreciate balance between the genres. I would have really liked to explore the backstory with the Gentleman and Jade more.

Because of that, I feel the story is kind of ho-hum. There was lot of information dumped on us and decisions made that we have to take at face value. I'm not sure how I feel about Alyssa. Half the time, it seemed like she was spiraling and the other half she was cool, calm and collected. Kiplinger is kind of the same way. I also don't know how I feel about how incestuous this whole situation is. Everyone seems very okay with how things played out. And I'm just over here like- isn't Jade a killer/assassin? Shouldn't she be in jail?

What a fun, thrilling ride!!

Broken Promise is the third book in the Sons of Broad Series and can be read as a stand-alone novel. That being said, I highly recommend getting your hands on the previous books in this series and reading them first to have a better understanding of what has been going on in this series.

Just like the previous books in this series, Broken Promise hits the ground running and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Finally, all your burning questions will be answered and the identity of "The Gentleman" will be revealed.

Broken Promises is a great addition to the Sons of Broad Series. This story will suck you and keep you begging for more. I loved the pace of the story, the action and suspense. I loved trying to figure out what was going on and who the killer was. I loved all the twists along the way and the romance between Kipling and Alyssa. While their romance wasn't the main focus of the story, I still couldn't help but fall for these two. I thought they were great together. I think they had wonderful chemistry and just loved how these two challenged one another. They were a perfect balance and I think they made a solid team.

Overall, I thought this book was a really enjoyable read and I look forward to seeing what this author has in store for next!
