Lies lies lies ! I was so excited to read this book. I have seen Facebook ads for Lies and I think it’s going to be a big hit when it comes out

Great book! It had be from the beginning and I couldn't put it down! I enjoyed all the little details that came out as the book progressed. I kept looking to see how much I had left because I couldn’t wait to get to the end and find out what was really going on! Has one moment ever completely changed your life? Thats what happens to Joe when he sees his wife (Where she is not supposed to be) and follows her into a parking garage she is meeting with a male friend. From there, the book takes off and never lets go. Highly recommend!

Firstly, I would like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Joe Lynch is a loving husband and father, in what he believes is a wonderful marriage. When he happens to see his wife's car pulling into a hotel, he thinks she is going to a meeting and decides to follow and surprise her. This may turn out to be the biggest mistake of his life. Joe becomes embroiled in a missing persons investigation, and ultimately suspected of murder. How did this one simple stop end up having such catastrophic effects for Joe?This novel immediately sucks the reader in, action packed and fast paced. The ending completely blew me away. When you think you've got it all figured out...you realize you don't.

The writing kept me powering through this book, I read it in two days. It was quite a page turner for me and really satisfied my curiosity.

However, the only couple of issues I have with the book is first, the wife Melissa, and second, the ending. I really didn’t like Melissa’s character, she kept changing her story, and was pulling at Joe’s heartstrings. She was just annoying to me at the end, I didn’t even want to hear about her anymore. Good guy Joe was just putting up with it all, I really did root for Joe’s character. He was portrayed as a good guy, good father, good husband, etc. Secondly, the ending, It was unexpected I give it that, but there is something about it I didn’t enjoy. I think I would of preferred to not have the end twist and just keep going with the general story line. I would still recommend this book, original premise, great writing, great pace!

This book started out with a bang, and than fizzled out for me, while I still liked the book, it didn't live up to the hype it built for itself. It was an interesting premise, and I appreciated the depth the author added to the characters, and to the plot. Something just didn't sit well for me. I do know many other readers who loved this one. So take my opinion with a grain of salt.

This was a hard one to put down, I'll be honest, even if I didn't rush to pick it up because of it being yet another psychological thriller in my hands. Immediately though, the story of Joe Lynch, English teacher, and devoted father and husband, drew me in very quickly.

Joe's drive home one evening with his 4-year old son William, takes a nasty turn and sets the whole book's plot in motion, when he sees his wife's car pulling into a hotel parking lot. It seems his wife Mel is meeting with another man and hiding behind a web of lies, and soon enough, Joe is pulled into a game of 'cat-and-mouse' with this man who is apparently set to destroy everything he knows and loves.

From the very beginning this is an addictive read, with the action and twists never letting up from page one until the book ends, something that is vital for a successful psychological thriller. Since this is such a saturated genre (hence my earlier comment, not that I'm actually really complaining about so many thrillers), it's necessary to bring something fresh to the table.
Debut author T.M. Logan does several things to make this book different from the 'rest of the pack'. Perhaps drawing from what he knows best, Logan gives us a male lead over the stereotypical and usual neurotic and crazed young single female. Not only is our protagonist a family man he's deeply committed to nurturing his preschooler, is deeply aware of his environment, but he has a 'humble' teaching job and lets his wife take the job lead in the household, not minding that his wife is pursuing her career ambitions. Joe is the one who is the parenting heavyweight, and it really made a change to see this, and also write his character in a way that didn't seem contrived.

A few other things that I appreciated: not having yet another thriller with alternating perspectives or voices (this has been done to death lately), especially since I'd like to focus on one unreliable narrator at a time. Writing one voice at a time is often the best way to dig into the mind of a character and this is where 'Lies' is successful'; Logan really gets us into the mind of Joe so well that it's hard to get out of it. No wonder his character gets so little sleep (like myself).

Technology, like computers and cell phones, plays a vital role in this novel, and the way it's used is done so cleverly that, like all books written in this day and age, makes it especially current, and since these things permeate all our lives, there's no wonder they're good fodder for literary weaponry. They certainly leaves us feeling vulnerable and with a sense of constant uncertainty.

My biggest complaint about the book is the relationship Joe has with his wife, Mel, and her character, but since Joe finds he is surrounded by lies (surprise!), and nobody can be relied upon, it's hard to like many people in his life.
I can't give too much more away about anything but Logan weaves all the lies and twists fantastically throughout this novel, and the ending really is a turn that the reader won't expect at all. I'm mostly curious to hear what other people think about it, but I can't talk about it, because I'm spoiler-free girl! You'll have to read it yourself to see what I mean!
Super clever read by another new author. Hope there's more from T.M. Logan.

I received a sample of this book Lies by T. M. Logan. The very beginning had me hooked. Joe Lynch is driving with his son Will and the little boy spots his mother’s car, asks if they can surprise her. Joe follows her into a hotel parking garage, heads upstairs to the lobby, and then sees his wife Melissa talking heatedly with Ben, the husband of her best friend.

Joe doesn’t want their young son to witness any unpleasantness so he heads them back to the car. He tries to catch Melissa as she drives off but then runs into Ben and gets into an altercation. Ben is knocked to the parking garage floor and isn’t responsive.

To make matters worse Will has gotten out of the car and sees Ben knocked out on the ground, blood seeping from his ear. This upset causes an asthma attack and Joe has get his son medicine. So he leaves Ben, gets the boy help, returns to the garage and Ben is gone. So is Ben’s car. When his wife returns home he asks her about meeting Ben but she lies and says she’s been playing tennis. More conversation between them makes it clear she’s hiding something.

Based on that, and it was edgier than I wrote this out, I requested the book from NetGalley. The first part of this book was great and highlighted the dangers of social media. Joe had lost his cell phone in the struggle in the parking garage – suddenly his Facebook page has updates that he isn’t making. Photos posted from that hotel parking garage clearly showing blood in the background. People “liking” and commenting on the posts.

“They knew where I’d been. It was like suddenly realizing you lived in a goldfish bowl. Both updates had been posted this evening. I had driven out of the Premier Inn around 5:10 p.m. and both Facebook posts had followed inside the next ninety minutes.”

Can’t imagine someone hacking my social media account and posting as me.

Towards the middle I felt the plot dragged a bit and wasn’t believable. We have to suspend disbelief with some story lines but after a while, I just couldn’t do it with this story. Joe’s reactions to the “implied evidence” his wife was cheating was very unrealistic. I know my husband wouldn’t be as understanding and rightfully so!

Obviously you have to have a weak character, the fall-guy so to speak, but this just didn’t fly. Melissa Lynch is a completely unlikable person in the way she is manipulating her husband. Why didn’t he toss her out? Should of done so. Is Ben a dangerous man or another victim? You will see at the end. Overall I felt disconnected from the characters and repelled by Joe (even though he is the victim) by his weak behavior.

The ending had a twist I certainly didn’t see coming and I will say well done there.

Would I read more by this author? Probably so. I’d try one more book. It kept my interest until the end with the twists and turns and I wanted to know whodunit.

Linking up with Joy’s Book Blog for British Isles Friday as the author is British and the setting is London and Sunderland.

Much thanks to NetGalley for the digital copy. I was not compensated for the review, all opinions nice and otherwise are my own.

I read a lot of psychological thrillers, many of the domestic variety and the story lines sometimes get blurred, but this one certainly had a new twist and as such I really enjoyed it. I really appreciated that the main character really tried to do the 'right' thing. I also liked the use of technology in the story. If you are a fan of domestic thrillers this is a great choice.

From page one, this fast-paced novel keeps you trembling with anticipation, and never lets up until the end. This rollercoaster novel should come with the warning: "Please keep your hands and arms inside the vehicle at all time." T. M. Logan's magic is in his ability to draw the reader in with snappy dialogue, suspicious characters, and breathless action. I loved every minute of it.

I gave this a solid 3 stars. Logan keeps you on one track while it's really headed somewhere else. I didn't see the ending coming though I was pretty sure I had a few other things figured out.

What if your whole life was based on lies?

Joe is a devoted loving father and husband. He is a happy man, happy with were he is in life, at work and with his marriage to Mel. What if all that was a lie, what if everything you thought about your adult life was a lie? Do you really know the people in our lives?

This domestic thriller had me really wanting to know what was going to happen next. The build up was great, until the middle of the book, it just dragged on for me. I really didn't enjoy the ending, after all that build up, I just wanted more from it.

Six days ago, Joe Lynch was a happily married man, a devoted father, and a respected teacher living in a well-to-do London suburb. But that was before he spotted his wife’s car entering a hotel parking garage. Before he saw her in a heated argument with her best friend’s husband. Before Joe confronted the other man in an altercation where he left him for dead, bleeding and unconscious.

Now, Joe’s life is unraveling. His wife has lied to him. Her deception has put their entire family in jeopardy. The man she met at the hotel has vanished. And as the police investigate his disappearance, suspicion falls on Joe.

Unable to trust the woman he loves, Joe finds himself at the mercy of her revelations and deceits, unsure of who or what to believe. All he knows is that her actions have brought someone dangerous into their lives—someone obsessed with her and determined to tear Joe’s world apart.

What if your whole life was based on LIES?

My Thoughts: I was immediately hooked on Lies, as the pages quickly turned and more and more duplicity was revealed.

Joe’s first person narrative carried us along, our feelings heightened with each lie revealed, and as we followed each step he took, we were unsure of who the enemies would turn out to be, and whose life would be endangered next.

Joe and Mel’s son William, a sweet four-year-old who was precocious and spoke up with his thoughts and needs, was such a treat, but his vulnerability intensified my hope that Joe would find the answers he sought.

From the beginning, I distrusted Mel. Initially, she seemed loving, but as she began to share the lies, a bit at a time, the tidbits handed out in pieces, it was easy to see that she had a lot more hidden. Her façade was intact, though, making it hard to penetrate it in the quest for full disclosure.

What is the end game for the liars? Is Beth’s husband Ben the evil perpetrator, or is there more to the story? Why are the police so quickly targeting Joe? Who has set up the perfect trap, and why?

Even though I didn’t believe the stories Mel was telling, I wasn’t prepared for what came out in the stunning conclusion. Intense and horrifying, I couldn’t breathe while the events played out.

This book was full of twists and turns. It started off a little jarring (to me) with so many bad things happening to the main character so quickly, but I was glad I hung in there. I never saw the ending coming until it was revealed.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ABSOLUTE GEM! This book was great from start to finish. I love books that I can't figure out the "whodunnit". This was a believable story, too. I could not find a single scenario that I didn't think "I would have done the same thing" in that position. It was intriguing, fast fast paced and I read it in a matter of hours. 5 stars all the way! I have not read a book that kept me going like this for a very long time!

Joe is just your average guy, going about his daily life. Until one fateful day when he’s driving down the freeway with his 4 year old, William. William spots his mommy’s car and begs his daddy to follow it so they can surprise her. Joe does so, following her car to a hotel parking lot where he then witnesses her having a strange conversation with family friend, Ben. As his wife drives off after the encounter, Joe confronts Ben. The conversation gets heated, and Joe ends up shoving Ben so hard he falls to the ground, seemingly unconscious. Before Joe can make sure Ben’s alright, William begins having an asthma attack and Joe has to rush off to help him. By the time he comes back to check on him, Ben is gone.

And this is when it all begins to unravel for Joe.

This book is absolutely stunning... It immediately sucks you in and takes you on this crazy ride where every page takes you further down the rabbit hole, and you’re constantly wondering when you’re finally going to hit the bottom. Then when you finally do, you are speechless because you never, in all honesty, saw THAT coming. At least, that’s 100% how I felt.

If I had to describe this book in three words they would probably be: thrilling, surprising, unsettling. I was NEVER able to anticipate what was going to happen next. I consider myself to be a kind of cynical reader, either guessing the twists, or not being impressed by them. I usually come out of a thriller/mystery novel feeling disappointed, which is why I’ve shied away from this genre in recent years. This book, though...just writing this review has my heart pounding again because I’m thinking about the story. I don’t think any other book has actually made my heart physically pound like this one did. I could not flip through the pages quickly enough.

One aspect this book deals with extensively is the role of technology and social media in our lives, and how these things can be used against us. It’s so unsettling to watch one man’s life fall apart right before his eyes in and of itself, but the role of technology and social media just made it that much more terrifying.

This book will definitely take you on a journey. You will become Joe Lynch. You will watch your life, and everything you thought you knew, systematically unravel piece by piece. And you will feel as powerless as he did. Your heart will race, your palms will sweat. You will question everything.

I mentioned that this book was unsettling. For me, this was partly due to the things mentioned above, but also due to family dynamics. This books deals with infidelity and marital issues. Pair that with an innocent and loving 4 year old who doesn’t understand what’s going on, and cue my heart breaking. Including the 4 year old in this story really adds an entirely new and heart-wrenching dimension. Just be aware.

I just can’t stop thinking about this book. The level of betrayal. The depth of the lies. It was like watching this awful train wreck, but you just can’t look away. You keep hoping, somehow, you’re going to watch the passengers limp out alive. That somehow, some way, they’re going to survive this...

Unfortunately, I did not find this book to be very believable. I felt disconnected throughout the entire time. Hoping that I would be able to lose myself in the characters and the plot, but was instead bored. I knew very early on that Mel was the one involved and that the only thing that could make sense would be if Beth was in on it, and of course that ended up being the case. Thank you for giving me the chance to read.

Alright, this book was good enough to keep me from checking my instagram while reading....and to be quite frank, I would have given it 4 stars had I not figured out the ending as soon as I did. This book definitely reminded me of Gone Girl - a wife that wanted her way, but had to frame a husband, a few hiccups in a poorly constructed plan, and a police force that obviously puts the blame on the husband. I'd call this a beachy read, something that is good enough to have for a book club or recommend to a friend you don't know very well, but I definitely wouldn't put this in my top 5 for the year.

What a ride this book took me on! It was a heart-pounding journey, a great mix of trying to unravel the puzzle (which I absolutely failed at) and just feeling bad about the events taking place. This poor guy. I mean what in the world was going on? I love books you can't figure out until the author lays it out for you. It was hard to put down, a story I thought about even when I wasn't reading it. I don't want to say much because it has the chance of giving something away.

I will say, I'm primarily a reader of love stories. I read books like this once in awhile to get a little something different. And this exceeded all expectations. I couldn't have told from just the blurb how crazy of a story I was about to fall into. I will definitely look for more from this author in the future.
