Lies by T.M. Logan is an excellently-paced and entertaining thriller that keeps you guessing and engaged from start to finish. The character development and attention to detail combined with the clever traps and unique foes supported an excellent piece of fiction.

I gave Lies four stars because I deeply enjoyed reading this book and felt as though it had unique characteristics that set it apart from other thrillers. This was the first thriller I have read in some time that developed its story through the eyes of a male main character, and that, combined with the other literary elements, set Lies apart. This book was different in a way that set me, the reader, off kilter (in a good way) just enough to add that extra element of questioning and discomfort. Additionally, the naivety and "beta male" aspect to Joe Lynch, adds a level of unease and almost disbelief that so many perfectly placed dominoes fall the way they do. You worry about Joe at every turn, tearing through the story with the hope that the end, which seems so inevitable at times, will change. The twist was certainly a surprise.

Perhaps the only criticism I have for this book is that the development of the perceived villain (or villains, if you count technology’s role) was just a touch to perfect and maybe a bit contrived. In my opinion, any villain needs just a touch more normalcy, a bit more blending, so as to fit better in the world the story creates. As for technology as a villain, I believe that all the aspects about its use in this story are applicable, but it was just a bit clunky in how it was inserted into the story line (particularly the pieces involving Facebook).

I enjoyed this book very much.. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this title.

Wow, wow wow!! Absolutely loved this domestic thriller. Totally mesmerized. Nothing is what it seems - everything is a lie This is the best domestic thriller I've read this year and I have actually read several others that were excellent - this one outshines them all. Loved it!

The action starts immediately out of the gate when Joe is driving his son home from school and they spot his wife entering a hotel parking garage. He spins around and goes in to surprise her because the boy wants to show his Mom his award from school. Joe sees his wife arguing with her best friend's husband. Joe stops the guy in the parking garage to ask him about the meeting with his wife and the guy hits him. Joe pushes him and he hits his head on the concrete floor and is bleeding from his ear. At the same time Joe's son has a major asthma attack and he has no inhaler - it's at home. He grabs his son and hurries to ge t the inhaler, leaving the guy unconscious in the parking. lot. Once Joe returns to the hotel to check on him the guy is gone and there is no sign of crime tape or anything to indicate a problem. And this is just the beginning...

The characters seemed real, the writing was great, and it kept my interest totally. I was fascinated. I will recommend this one to all my friends! I'm putting T. M. Logan on my list to grab he writes - and I see one other book out there, but I understand this was a debut novel and was one of Amazon UK's bestselling ebooks of 2017.

Many thanks to T. M. Logan and St. Martin's Press through Netgalley for an advance copy.

Lies by T.M. Logan is one of the best books I have read this year. If I could give it 10 stars I would. I was hooked from page one and the ending is not to be believed. What a great twist!!! This book is truly one of the best psychological books I have ever read. I will not give any detail of the book because I do not want to give anything away. I am really looking for to his next book.

Lies by T. M. Logan really surprised me, in the best way. Compulsively readable, the pages fly by and although I thought I'd figured the twist, I was WAY off. An average Joe, literally, finds his life falling apart in the span of a week, after he follows his wife into a parking garage, sees her arguing with a friend of the family that he happens to NOT be very fond of...and then it all goes to hell after that. I found Joe to be totally believable, reacting in situations much like I suspect many of us would, with incredulity, anger and indignation. "It had been a crazy forty-eight hours; first I thought my wife was having an affair, then I thought I'd put someone in the hospital and might lose my job, my marriage, my liberty."

Oh Joe, if you only knew...

P. S. Thanks so much to #netgalley and #stmartinspress for the advanced reader copies.

Joe Lynch's life spins out of control after he follows his wife's car to a hotel one afternoon and then confronts the man she is seen arguing with. Then the man disappears and Joe falls under suspicion. The story kept me fully engaged, though Joe's naivety wore on me after a while. I did not see the twist at the end coming! I recommend this book if you are looking for a quick and exciting suspense thriller to read.

Fast paced read! Joe Lynch is living the life; beautiful wife, adorable child, job he loves. One day he finds its all based on Lies! His normal, boring, content life is upended when he finds out his wife has a big secret. What starts as a minor altercation, turns into him fighting to stay out of prison for murder.

Well written, this book keeps you entertained and curious chapter after chapter. Author Logan shows just enough of the Lies in each chapter till it all comes to an end. Enjoyed this fast-paced read, and look forward to reading this author more!

Total 4.5 Stars. Thanks NetGalley and StMartins Press for this ARC. Opinion is my own.

This book had me trying to figure out what was happening until the end. Joe Lynch and his wife Melanie have been happily married for 9 years. Or at least that is what Joe thinks. Then he finds out she has been lying to him for years. He is being gaslighted big time, but he doesn't know by whom. The worst week of his life sees his marriage demolished, his freedom threatened and someone in his circle of friends dead (or maybe not). He tried to be a sleuth, which only gets him in deeper trouble. Most of the time I can figure out who is doing what to whom, but in this book I missed the clues, just like Joe.
I enjoyed the story. The twists and turns are devilish. The solution is well hidden. It's a fun read.
I read this book on NetGalley.

OMG this book was so good! I started reading this on vacation and pretty much wanted to ignore my family to just keep reading it. A page-turner right from the beginning. Enter Joe Lynch, a happily married dad of 4 yr old William. Joe leads a great life and is planning on celebrating his 10th anniversary with his wife Mel. Driving home one day with William in tow changes everything he thought he knew about his life over the past 10 years. The title of the book tells it all, but still, I was surprised on how many twists and turns there were in this book. Social media plays a role in this book and it really makes you think about what can be perceived as truth when looking at it through the likes of Facebook, etc. Go read this book! You won't be disappointed. Thank you to NetGalley & St. Martin’s Press for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this book. Lies definitely was worth the read!

Joe Lynch was having an ordinary day heading home with his young son, William. William loves cars and can name them, when he spots his mother's car. Curious as to why his wife would be in the area, Joe follows her. He watches a heated exchange between his wife and a friend, Ben Delaney. When Joe sees Ben leave, he intercepts him and things get physical. Joe leaves an injured Ben on the floor of the parking garage, to rush his son home to get his inhaler. Worried about Ben, Joe returns only to find Ben and his vehicle gone. Ben's wife, Beth, heard Ben come in late very upset cursing Joe, and left. She hasn't heard or seen him since, and one of his guns is missing. Then come the taunting messages on FB, texts and computer. A brutal confession from Joe's wife, Mel, sends his world crashing. His broken heart is telling him to repair their marriage, but trusting again isn't easy.

Joe's ordinary day is going to be the start of his worst nightmare. With no one to trust, and going against legal advice, Joe sets off to prove Ben is behind the messages.

I really enjoyed the twists and turns of the story. I thought it was original and unique. I received a free ARC from NetGalley via St Martin's Press.

Lies, This book is full of lies, deceit and mystery. Even the best mystery reader won't figure this one out! Poor Joe is being set up for murder, we think, but by who and why? It seems the person he's being accused of murdering is actually alive, but in this book, nothing is as it seems. A really good, fast paced, psychological thriller.

First sentence: I often wonder what would have happened if I hadn't seen her car that day.

Last sentence: That's one lie I'll keep going as long as I can.

His son spots his mother's car and wants to surprise her.

A quick decision turns in a confrontation that then turns violent.

The other guy is missing when Lynch returns to the scene after saving his son. And so is his phone. Joe Lynch's life is then thrown into chaos. Mysterious social media posts, phone calls, and text messages first causes him to lose his job, then his freedom.

Murder. They are charging him with murder.

Then the twist. You think you have it figured out, YOU DON'T! The twist of this book had my heart pounding! It's fast paced and an excellent read! 5 out of 5 bookmarks for sure!

Expertly written to mesmerize the most intelligent reader of psychological thrillers! Be prepared to get sucked into this spinning tale of being in the wrong place at the wrong time - or is that the case at all? In this novel, Joe Lynch is a husband and father of impeccable character and seems to have it all - lovely wife, an amazing child who he loves deeply, a career as a teacher in an affluent community. When stumbling upon his wife's car that leads him to a hotel, he doesn't bat an eyelash of distrust. But then he witnesses a heated argument between her and her best friend's husband. He is then baffled even further when an altercation with the man unravels into a missing man and series of confusing events that nails him at the top of the suspect list. He is determined to learn the truth so he can set his life back to normal and protect his child.

I had this book figured out early on - or so I thought, and I pondered different twists that could possibly spin the plot, diverging it into a different conclusion. I did not expect the ending that unfolded. Fans of B.A. Paris, Paula Hawkins, and Shari Lapena will love this journey to the truth!

It's 3:20 a.m. and I just finished this book...LOVED it!!
Special thanks to #netgalley and the publisher for allowing me an #arc!!
Most books I've read lately are all from a woman's perspective and this was a man's and I thoroughly enjoyed it even though, I figured it out quite early. Well, I sort of figured it out haha! The ending ripples through me like "what??"
A man sees his wife's car driving into a hotel parking lot, the son innocently wants to see his Mommy and the husband starts to realize something isn't right but, he doesn't quite get it until the end. Meanwhile, he's being accused of murder for a man he thinks is just trying to take his wife away from him.
Absolute craziness but, a really good and fast read!! I'll definitely rate this a 5!!!
More reviews coming soon!

One thing I know to be true from experience is that life can change in a blink of an eye. One minute you're happy and content going about your normal day, and the next minute your whole world comes crashing down. That is what happened to Joe Lynch in Lies. Joe is an average, happy, contented, trusting man with a wife he loves and a son he worships. Life is good . . . until one day it isn't. One afternoon, one impulsive decision, one life-altering moment, and Joe's perfect world comes crashing down with devastating implications and results. The more he tries to unravel the lies, the more deception he discovers. The foundation Joe's life is built on is crumbling away, and he has no idea how to shore it back up.

Lies begins with an ordinary man making an ordinary decision that sets off a tsunami of events that forever change his life. There's no way to discuss more detail without revealing a story line best discovered by reading it yourself. I found the first half of the story to be intense and compelling as events escalated out of Joe's control. The story unfolds from Joe's pov thus making it easy for readers to feel his pain, sense of loss, sorrow, and growing confusion and panic as he works to uncover the truth and salvage life as he once knew it. The author's use of social media and technology is brilliant as it ends up playing a huge part in the storyline while potentially sealing Joe's fate. This part of the story is fast-paced, heart-pounding action that is well executed.

The middle to latter part of the story lacked the intensity of the first part in my opinion. The pacing seemed to stall as the storyline became a bit predictable and almost repetitive. I think maybe it was just a case of one lie too many drawing the story out too long at a point when I was impatient to be immersed in the escalating suspense and danger. Having said that, the detailed characters and plot line are conducive to an intriguing story, and a surprise twist near the end is sure to keep readers talking. A complex story of lies, deceit, and the ultimate betrayal, Lies will be high on the list of Must Reads among fans of mystery, suspense, and thrillers.
