Lies, This book is full of lies, deceit and mystery. Even the best mystery reader won't figure this one out! Poor Joe is being set up for murder, we think, but by who and why? It seems the person he's being accused of murdering is actually alive, but in this book, nothing is as it seems. A really good, fast paced, psychological thriller.

First sentence: I often wonder what would have happened if I hadn't seen her car that day.

Last sentence: That's one lie I'll keep going as long as I can.

Wow! In the first two hours of reading this book, I was almost 200 pages in. It is so suspenseful and plot twisty that it just flies by. Excellent, excellent book, with an ending I never saw coming!

His son spots his mother's car and wants to surprise her.

A quick decision turns in a confrontation that then turns violent.

The other guy is missing when Lynch returns to the scene after saving his son. And so is his phone. Joe Lynch's life is then thrown into chaos. Mysterious social media posts, phone calls, and text messages first causes him to lose his job, then his freedom.

Murder. They are charging him with murder.

Then the twist. You think you have it figured out, YOU DON'T! The twist of this book had my heart pounding! It's fast paced and an excellent read! 5 out of 5 bookmarks for sure!

Expertly written to mesmerize the most intelligent reader of psychological thrillers! Be prepared to get sucked into this spinning tale of being in the wrong place at the wrong time - or is that the case at all? In this novel, Joe Lynch is a husband and father of impeccable character and seems to have it all - lovely wife, an amazing child who he loves deeply, a career as a teacher in an affluent community. When stumbling upon his wife's car that leads him to a hotel, he doesn't bat an eyelash of distrust. But then he witnesses a heated argument between her and her best friend's husband. He is then baffled even further when an altercation with the man unravels into a missing man and series of confusing events that nails him at the top of the suspect list. He is determined to learn the truth so he can set his life back to normal and protect his child.

I had this book figured out early on - or so I thought, and I pondered different twists that could possibly spin the plot, diverging it into a different conclusion. I did not expect the ending that unfolded. Fans of B.A. Paris, Paula Hawkins, and Shari Lapena will love this journey to the truth!

It's 3:20 a.m. and I just finished this book...LOVED it!!
Special thanks to #netgalley and the publisher for allowing me an #arc!!
Most books I've read lately are all from a woman's perspective and this was a man's and I thoroughly enjoyed it even though, I figured it out quite early. Well, I sort of figured it out haha! The ending ripples through me like "what??"
A man sees his wife's car driving into a hotel parking lot, the son innocently wants to see his Mommy and the husband starts to realize something isn't right but, he doesn't quite get it until the end. Meanwhile, he's being accused of murder for a man he thinks is just trying to take his wife away from him.
Absolute craziness but, a really good and fast read!! I'll definitely rate this a 5!!!
More reviews coming soon!

One thing I know to be true from experience is that life can change in a blink of an eye. One minute you're happy and content going about your normal day, and the next minute your whole world comes crashing down. That is what happened to Joe Lynch in Lies. Joe is an average, happy, contented, trusting man with a wife he loves and a son he worships. Life is good . . . until one day it isn't. One afternoon, one impulsive decision, one life-altering moment, and Joe's perfect world comes crashing down with devastating implications and results. The more he tries to unravel the lies, the more deception he discovers. The foundation Joe's life is built on is crumbling away, and he has no idea how to shore it back up.

Lies begins with an ordinary man making an ordinary decision that sets off a tsunami of events that forever change his life. There's no way to discuss more detail without revealing a story line best discovered by reading it yourself. I found the first half of the story to be intense and compelling as events escalated out of Joe's control. The story unfolds from Joe's pov thus making it easy for readers to feel his pain, sense of loss, sorrow, and growing confusion and panic as he works to uncover the truth and salvage life as he once knew it. The author's use of social media and technology is brilliant as it ends up playing a huge part in the storyline while potentially sealing Joe's fate. This part of the story is fast-paced, heart-pounding action that is well executed.

The middle to latter part of the story lacked the intensity of the first part in my opinion. The pacing seemed to stall as the storyline became a bit predictable and almost repetitive. I think maybe it was just a case of one lie too many drawing the story out too long at a point when I was impatient to be immersed in the escalating suspense and danger. Having said that, the detailed characters and plot line are conducive to an intriguing story, and a surprise twist near the end is sure to keep readers talking. A complex story of lies, deceit, and the ultimate betrayal, Lies will be high on the list of Must Reads among fans of mystery, suspense, and thrillers.

What if your whole life was built upon Lies? When Joe Lynch follows his child's desire to follow his wife's car to an underground parking lot at a hotel, his life becomes upended. He sees his wife fighting with a male acquaintance , he confronts him in the parking lot while simultaneously his child has an asthma attack with no inhaler , and leaves the scene to get his medication. The scene is thus orchestrated for his downfall, one lie at a time. The novel snakes back and forth with twists and turns as if peeling back the layers of an onion, one lie at a time. Finally, the ultimate lie is exposed, dramatic and unexpected, to the conclusion of the novel. The ending felt a bit abrupt to me which is why I only rate it as 3.5 stars, but this one mystery that goes down like an ice cream on a hot day..

A chance moment changes his life forever.

Joe Lynch is driving with his four-year-old son when they spot his wife’s car driving into a hotel parking garage. They follow, and Joe’s seemingly happy family life starts to unravel.

I found Joe to be a likeable, sympathetic character, and his feelings of anger and betrayal felt real. While some of his actions seemed naive, they were completely within character for this man whose life until then had been fairly uncomplicated. Not only did he have to deal with personal betrayals, the police were convinced he was guilty of a heinous crime of which he was innocent. No doubt most readers would have been as unequipped to deal with these as he.

That, I believe, was the appeal of this story. The protagonist wasn’t a superspy, adept with the latest technology and able to suss out lies as they’re spoken. He’s a pretty average nice guy whose life is turned upside down and he has to scramble to cope. I was drawn into the story because his character was so relatable and I wanted him to survive and outwit his obviously more devious nemesis.

Does he? You’ll need to read it yourself to find out.

I found the main character likeable and I felt sympathetic towards him, which is the glue that holds a book like this together. Though I also enjoyed the author’s easy writing style, I skipped most descriptional or procedural paragraphs, as I was constantly rushing through to grasp hold of something thrilling— for which there is not much. I also noted how long it took for the plot to reach an interesting point, where I felt somewhat invested— Chapter 21, a fourth of the way into the book, to be exact. After that, the meager thrills and final reveal did not pay off, causing this book to be a disappointment, despite its satisfying good-guy-wins conclusion.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did because I usually enjoy a twisty suspenseful story. In the end this was an engaging story and did have a nice twist or two. But my goodness it was hard to get behind the clueless protagonist! You sort of expected him to go back down just because he was trusting people who had already shown him they couldn’t be trusted. How many times does a person need to lie to have to be considered a liar? That said, it is a quick read and did keep me interested, so worthy of 3 stars. (Maybe 3.5....)

I was hooked from the first sentence, at least for the first half of the book. Then I kind of lost interest. I was so excited to read this book! The reviews were great! I feel let down. I hated Melanie, the wife, of the main character Joe. I was pulling for Joe for the first half the book. He seemed like a genuinely good guy who ended up in mess. As the book progressed I found myself feel like saying "Seriously? Gimme a break" It just felt like T.M. Morgan threw absolutely everything at this character. By the end of the book I really didn't care about Joe anymore, I was just over it. There was a twist at the end but it wasn't enough to bring me back. This was a quick and easy vacation read, and those who are not as cynical as I am will probably enjoy this book a lot. I'm giving it a generous 3 stars only because I can't give 2.5.. Even though the writing was good and captivating enough, I found it impossible to relate to any of the characters in this book.
The main actor, English teacher Joe Lynch, is just very naive, dull, uninteresting, unimaginative, with the intelligence of a canary. Inevitably he makes stupid decision after stupid decision.
The five years old child has the eloquence and the wisdom of a sage and at times falls back into toddler mode.
The wife, Mel, is extremely deceiving and conniving, and has been for years.

The premise of ‘Lies’ was enticing, as Joe and his son, unexpectedly catch Mel, where she wasn't expected at a time when she shouldn’t have been there. And then everyone starts to lie…
Joe in his right mind decides to become his own detective in a disappearance/murder investigation, reinforcing himself as the sole culprit. All, but for Joe and the police, are well versed in technology, stealing each others Facebook account, tracking others cell phones and invading email accounts … the plot feels extremely implausible, borderline ridiculous.
The big climax of the book is just ludicrous.

The only deeming quality of that book is that it's a quick read.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and T.M. Logan for the chance to read LIES in exchange for this honest review.

Honestly, I started reading this book on my iPad by accident as I planned on reading another ARC first. One chapter in I realized it wasn’t the book I was expecting but I was, in a very short amount of time, invested.

Joe stumbles across his wife while driving his young son home from school, who pleads that they stop to say hello. This coincidental meeting snowballs into an unimaginable amount of lies and drama. You’ll find yourself incredibly frustrated (for Joe) and incredibly confused (about Ben). The only way to get answers is to keep reading.

You won’t be able to put this book down. I’ve found a new author to look out for and will be following T.M. Logan’s career.

A chilling thriller with a final twist that I did not see coming. The story moved at a gripping pace and revealed little clues along the way that all came together in the final moments. Believable characters made it an agonizing read as circumstances spiraled out of control and left me breathless.

Wonderfully twisted ended. Will be enthusiastically suggesting this title to patrons looking for a refreshingly new thriller.
