I really enjoyed this book. It was a page turner from the start and just kept going. Joe Lynch was a likeable main character and I was really rooting for him. I loved all the twists and turns and did not have it figured out at all until it was finally exposed at the end of the book what had happened. It was well thought out, well written, had great suspense and a likeable main character. 4.5 stars!

Action packed read!

This was a quick read. Main character was annoying though because he was a bit too surface when everyone was clearly lying to him.

Very enjoyable read! This thriller grabs you from the first chapter, pulls you in and doesn't let you go until the exciting ending, when everything is revealed.

Similar to Gone Girl, the story is about a man who goes missing and the protagonist, who's framed for his murder. The plot isn't as convoluted as Gone Girl, but it kept me reading.

Highly recommended!

Lies is the latest story by T. M. Logan and the first I've read of his work. I certainly will be reading more by this author. The first chapter immediately draws in the reader and as the pages flow it gets more and more difficult to put down. Mr Logan delivers twists and turns the reader won't see coming. I was given an early copy to review.

Lies by T. M. Logan is not coming out in the US until September 2018. So I’d like to thank Netgalley for a chance to read and review this book well before the release in the US. It has been available in the UK for a while and presumably sold well enough that the a release in the US seemed like a good idea.

The book cover poses the question ” WHAT IF YOUR WHOLE LIFE WAS BASED ON LIES?” Seemed to me to be a bit of an oversell. Certainly the main character believed much of his adult life was based on a lie but not his entire life. Perhaps that is a fairly minor point or maybe the publisher just tried too hard with the cover.

The reviews I have seen on Netgalley, US Amazon, UK Amazon, and Goodreads have mostly been favorable. But I had mixed feelings about this book.

I enjoyed Lies by T. M. Logan very much up to a certain point and then tired of it somewhat but it did keep my interest until the end.

But nearly all the reviews I’ve seen were good ones and maybe my problem was just me. Read the reviews and decide if you might like this one.

Joe Lynch's seemingly perfect life is about to change. He adores his wife and their young son but when he decides to follow his wife's car inside an underground car garage he witnesses his wife arguing with Ben (a friend of the family) and life as he knows it starts to unravel in a fast paced, entertaining fashion.

Joe confronts Ben in the parking lot. They get into a physical argument and Joe knocks, Ben unconscious. Immediately, his young son has an asthma attack and with no inhaler in sight, Joe leaves to take care of his son.

Joe returns to check on Ben and Ben and his car are missing. Shortly after, Joe starts to receive threatening messages from Ben. Joe reports, Ben missing and becomes a suspect. Joe now has to prove his innocence.

TM Logan, tells this debut novel from a first person perspective and a twist that will make your head spin. This is a perfect psychological thriller that uses fast paced technology to enhance the story line. This is a cat and mouse thriller that will entertain you for hours.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good surprise ending. I had a hard time putting this book down and even when I wasn't reading it, I was trying to put all the pieces together.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for a copy of LIES in exchange for an honest review.

What a beautifully twisty phsychological thriller Lies was! In the vein of Gone Girl and The Good Widow by Steinke and Fenton, this book takes you on an unexpected ride.

Poor Joe finds himself in the midst of a crazy murder investigation. But the person he is accused of murdering doesn't actually seem to be dead. The majority of the story follows Joe as he tries to prove he is innocent. But, what should be such an easy task ends up being the complete opposite and he can't seem to figure out which way is up.

Every time I thought I had this one figured out, Logan threw me for another loop. What a beautifully done thriller. I ripped through the pages at a high rate of speed and loved every minute. I would love to read more of his books. Loved, loved, loved it!

Wow! This is a very cool psychological thriller. So many lies. The characters are so well developed, the story line is great and it’s so well written. There are so many twists and turns. You simply don’t know who you can trust.

This is the story of Joe a high school teacher and main caregiver of his son, William. After watching his wife, Mel, in an argument with Ben, the husband of Mel's best friend, Beth, Joe makes an unwise decision to confront Ben. As a result, his life starts to fall apart. What follows is very fast-paced, with twists and turns all over the place!
Reminded me a lot of Gone Girl, but with a male protagonist. I really was surprised by the ending.

I wanted to read this book based on the description, and that it had such a good rating -- I thought well, maybe this will be good thriller material. Unfortunately, it was assuredly not.

"Lies" tells the story of Joe Lynch, married to Mel and father to their son, William. Early in the book, Joe spots Mel going to a hotel, and he follows her, only to see her in a heated confrontation with a man. After she leaves, he confronts the man -- a family friend named Ben Delaney -- which turns violent, Ben punching Joe, and Joe shoving him back. Ben ends up on the ground, unconscious, bleeding from the head. And from there, everything goes downhill for Joe. Ben goes missing, Joe isn't sure if his wife is trustworthy or faithful, and police suspect that Joe has murdered Ben. Can Joe figure out the truth before he's locked away in prison forever for murder? (dun dun dun!)

Well... I read the entire book, which is a plus. It was an easy, fast read. But I didn't feel like it was a thriller at all. Mostly, it was depressing; the subject matter was just miserable, and the notion of someone's life being torn apart is not fun. But I didn't really buy into the mystery, or the suspense. I understand why, for the plot's sake, the police had to be clueless. But it required just such a major suspension of disbelief. Joe's been receiving text messages, phone calls, e-mails, and even viruses from Ben, which were tracked to Ben's actual phone? Well, it must be Joe faking it! And then there was Joe and Mel's relationship. Repeatedly, she gets caught in a lie, which she explains and is repentant for, and Joe forgives and believes her. Over. And over. And over. Again. By the time you get to the end, it's more frustrating than anything else, because this character is apparently the stupidest man to have ever walked the earth.

On top of all of this, there is an utterly ludicrous "twist" ending that just... in my opinion, ruined the entire book. <spoiler>In the end, it's Mel -- no surprise there -- responsible for half of Joe's torment, but her partner-in-crime isn't Ben. It's Beth, Ben's wife, and the two are in a secret lesbian love affair, that also somehow includes male escorts for some reason that isn't quite explained. I say this not because I don't understand the concept of an escort, but because the book says they've used the escort service numerous times, yet in their Villains Monologue at the end, they merely say they used the escort as part of their devious mastermind set-up of Joe. Sooo... which is it? Are they having threesomes with an escort AND using the escort as a Ben stand-in? Or are they JUST using him for a Ben stand-in? It's never really explained and could have been left out of the plot entirely, in my opinion. And Ben has been set up as the villain through this entire book -- smart, calculating, narcissistic, arrogant, ruthless -- only to find out Beth killed him, and he's been the innocent victim the entire time. Talk about frustrating. I understand wanting a plot twist, but ripping the rug out from under your readers at the end just to give them an unexpected ending is not something I'm much a fan of.</spoiler> I really think that if the ending was different, without the "twist", this book may have sat better with me... but alas.

I wasn’t a fan of the writing. I think the book had its potential but there was no depth in the writing. The conversations were very simple. I didn’t connect to any of the characters. I wish Joe was a bit smarter, he was making very dumb mistakes that made him a weak character.
The ending was a disappointment. It had a good build up but it didn’t deliver a shocking effect like most thrillers do. It was just too unrealistic.

The premise for this book is intriguing, but the execution is lacking a bit. The first few chapters really grabbed me. Joe and his son discover that mom appears to be seeing another man. When questioned, she dodges and weaves skillfully. I was suspicious of her from the start but hubby trusts her completely. The plot seems to ramble, as Joe comes under suspicion when the other man disappears.. It is hard to believe that he would actually make all the wrong choices that he makes. I had the plot half figured out, but I do admit I was thrown by one surprising development. In the end, the story raises thought-provoking questions about the power our electronic world - computers, cell phones, internet, social media - has over all our lives.

Thank you so much to St. Martin’s Press for the eARC of this book! I don’t often read thrillers, but this one sucked me right in! The story follows Joe, happily married, father of a 4 year old boy, and English teacher who loves his job. When he and his son see his wife’s car going to a hotel on the way home from school, Joe realizes that maybe his life isn’t as idyllic as he thought.
This book kept me turning pages because, like Joe, I was never sure what was actually going on — I could really empathize with what he was going through. If you enjoy domestic thrillers, definitely check out Lies!

This was an amazing book! I could not put it down once I started. The plot is intriguing and there are twists and turns throughout the book. This book was very well written. I did not see the ending coming at all!!! I found this book very suspenseful and thoroughly enjoyed it!

After reading the description to this book, I expected to like it. The premise is catchy and intriguing. And T.M. Logan did not disappoint. The story moved along so fast, I kept reading long past bedtime, just to find out WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!?! Both chores and children were neglected (only briefly, I swear)so I could finish the last pages. I really thought I had it all figured out, but I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the ending, that I was not as smart as I thought it was. As a reader, it’s a wonderful thing to be caught off guard by the writing in a suspenseful thriller again. This is definitely a 5 star read. #lies #NetGalley

Review by 2shay..........

Surprising in many ways! Surprisingly good, well written and...surprising! I have read countless cop dramas and police procedurals, but what if you’re on the other side of all the clues and evidence? What If a group of methodical and relentless police officers are finding evidence, a lot of evidence, that points to you as a ruthless murderer? That’s what Joe Lynch is facing in this superb thriller.

Joe, by the way, is innocent. We know everything Joe has done and hasn’t done from page one, so that’s not even a tiny bit spolerish. Joe’s life revolves around his family, especially his four year old son, William. Joe calls him Wills. Wills is a four year old heart throb, and Joe is a great dad, finding joy in the simplest things his son says or does. They are quite a pair. And Joe loves his wife. They truly have a perfect family...until everything unravels.

I talked to Joe while reading his story. Really. Out loud. I pleaded with Joe more than once to stop trying to clear himself and let the police handle his case. He didn’t listen to me, obviously. He was sure he was being framed and just as sure that the police didn’t believe him. He believes that the man he is accused of killing is alive and well, determined to turn Joe’s perfect life into a shipwreck from hell.

I’ve never read a book quite like this. I was impressed and engaged during the whole wild ride. I think that any fan for the Mystery/Thriller genre is going to enjoy this story as much as I did.
