The first chapter captivated my attention, but the story lost me about halfway through the book. It seemed to drag on too long. Although the ending was an unpredictable twist, I had lost interest in the characters and just wanted it to be over.

I love books that keep me interested from beginning to end. This was one of those, very surprising ending,,,, that is I all I will say so as not to spoil it for others.

This was an incredible thriller. First of all, I absolutely loved the little boy in the book, William. The author described William so well and he became such a vivid and important character to me as much as the father, Joe. When Joe discovers where his wife is going and sees her with another man, my first instinct on this was that this was going to be the standard 'couple's life falling apart due to an affair' type of book. It was so much more than that. The second that Joe finds his wife with another man is just one piece in an enormous puzzle that Joe has to figure out.

Truly, this book will grab you and not let go. Right when Joe thinks he is helping his situation, he makes it worse. And I absolutely didn't see any of it going. It didn't once make me roll my eyes and think that it was predictable. I tend to read a lot on my bus ride home and I just couldn't wait to read this one.

Oddly, and maybe not surprisingly, I didn't like Mel. Despite everything she did in the book, I feel like there should've been aspects of her that was likable. I didn't trust her at all. I thought she was incredibly phony most times and seemed set out to make the situation worse. Of course, considering what unfolds, maybe that was intentional. Some part of me felt like it was characterization flaw. I wanted to find something deep within her and there wasn't a whole lot that I saw.

Overall, if you like thrillers and reading at the edge of your seat, you must read this book. You will not be disappointed.

I can't explain how fresh it is to see a male-identifying main character in a thriller novel. Where you're questioning HIS sanity and unreliable narrating. I absolutely love psychological thrillers but I found the genre getting repetitive: woman (usually of the "unlikable" variety) witnesses something. But did she reeeeeeally see it? This novel's build up was really great—I was completely riveted the entire time. I'm not completely satisfied by the ending, but still a solid 3-3.5 stars, and I will definitely read more of T.M. Logan's work.

This is the kind of book I usually read but this book had a little twist. Joe Lynch, his wife Mel and son William seem to be a very happy family. One day when Joe and William are driving home William sees a car that looks like his mom’s car. The Lies begin. Remember the saying “oh what wicked web we weave when we start to deceive” fits this book to a “T”. Got a little long winded in the middle of the book but once past that it is a good read.

My Rating: 3.5 Stars

One moment in time, one chance in a million, one argument and Joe Lynch’s quiet life would never be the same. The life he thought he was living with the love of his life and his young son became a twisted nightmare, a series of lies and a race to find the truth. Where is Ben? Is he dead or is he playing a sinister game of cat and mouse, using Joe as the bait? For every step forward Joe thinks he has made, he falls deeper into an abyss that could find him the prime suspect in what could be the murder of the century, a murder with no body.

LIES by T. M. Logan starts out putting me firmly on the edge of my seat, but I found so many dizzying twists and a main character so clearly out of his depth, that I had a hard time believing some of the events that took place. I will say, the twist at the end was brilliant, although just a little long in coming.

I couldn’t put it down — of course I had to to sleep, etc. but it is a real page turner. I pride myself on figuring out endings of who dunits but this one had me totally fooled. It involves social media, cyber-hacking, infidelity in addition to possible murder(s) I loved it and think anyone who likes suspense, intrigue, etc, will love this.

I wanted to finish this book. I wanted to know what was coming next. This one is a rapid plot that is a quick read. Without saying too much, I was disappointed in the ending. A little too much of a male fantasy, IMO. Anyway.. Worth a read, maybe but I wouldn't recommend paying for it.

This one started our fast and kept on going. It was an intense, exciting read that was hard to put down. There were lies on top of lies and I had all sorts of theories. It makes you think about how a random occurrence can alter life in a big way. I had empathy for some characters and wanted to slap others! A good psychological thriller!

Yes, get it, read it! Very well written psychological thriller that actually made me a little uncomfortable because it was so real, Also made me take a second look at my social media, my circle of friends, my family. I like Joe. I didn't think he was a little naive, I was right there with him, wanting to give my spouse the benefit. It was so well written I was feeling the hate for Ben! Sadly it made me a little disgruntled with cops , its like hey, investigate, your job does not allow an easy out. One of the surprises I sort of knew was coming, the second half of the surprise threw me. I am not trying to be cryptic, just so hard not to leave a spoiler! Thank you St Martins and Net Galley for this awesome read. I am ready for another book by T.M. Logan!

What a fantastic book! So many twists and turns. I never saw the ending coming! I can not wait for other books from this author. Love psychological thrillers and this was one of the best! Keep writing them and I will keep reading them!

I requested this book solely based on the cover, and I loved it. In a lot of the thrillers I had read lately, it was hard to be rooting for anyone - all of the characters had major flaws. This book lets you actually like Joe, the main character, as his world starts to fall down around him. The twist (there's always a twist!) was different and a bit unexpected. It takes the old style of thriller, and adds in a layer of technology use that makes you realize how susceptible we all could be to someone hacking into our lives. It kept me reading, I breezed through it quickly, and would recommend!

Joe Lynch and his 4-year-old son, William, are heading home when William spots his mom's car. He begs his dad to follower her into the parking garage of the Premier Inn so they can surprise her. Joe follows her thinking she is most likely meeting a client. By the time they get parked his wife Melissa is already inside. So Joe and his son head in to see if they can't locate her and say hi.

But what they find is a total surprise. Melissa and her best friend's husband Ben Delaney, a self-made techy millionaire, are arguing at a table. After watching a few minutes, Joe takes his son back to their car in the garage area and they wait. Finally, his wife rushes out and quickly leaves before he can wave her down. Ben isn't in such a rush. Joe is able to stop him and try to ask some questions. But Ben denies having seen Melissa and isn't in a good mood. A scuffle takes place and when Joe, who is much larger than Ben, gives him a shove. Ben falls, striking his head on the concrete floor and losing consciousness, blood trickling from his ear. For all the world it looks as though he might be dead. Joe is shocked since he was just defending himself with the shove and Ben had tripped over his own briefcase as he fell. William begins having an asthma attack so Joe is torn, take care of Ben, or rush home for an inhaler and then quickly return to Ben. Of course, his son's welfare wins out.

Now the mystery really begins, when Joe returns Ben and his car aren't in the garage. Joe also realizes he's missing his cell phone and wristband. He can't locate either.

Later, that night he carefully asks a few questions to his wife. Eventually, she admits that she and Ben met but it was totally business-related, giving the exact topic they were discussing. Joe is totally relieved and even sorry that he suspected anything. But now that certain thoughts have entered his mind, will they be dispelled that easily?

In time Ben's wife reports her husband missing. By now Joe has shared what happened in the garage with his wife. She encourages him to tell the police only half-truths to protect himself. Not agreeing at first, he finally listens to her counsel. So when he is questioned by the police, he gives the story Melissa rehearsed with him. But will she give that same story to the police?

What Concerned Me: I missed doing things around the house because I couldn't put the book down. (Then again, who needs a clean house when you're reading a good book?) In all honesty, the ending felt slightly off, but not enough to cause much concern.

What I Liked Most: This book grabbed my attention from the get-go. There is a very small cast of characters, but they are well developed and believable. The twists and turns are around every corner and kept me guessing until the end.

I will be watching for this British author's next book.

Ever since Gone Girl, the psychological thrillers I’ve read have almost universally been narrated by unreliable female characters who have social anxiety, substance abuse or some other serious dysfunction (or a combination thereof). So, it was a pleasure to read T.M. Logan’s novel Lies, where the narrator is a man who is about as normal as one can be. Joe is a husband, father, teacher with a settled family life. (I am tempted to say he is an “average Joe”). Until one day, while driving his 4 year- old son home, the son spots Mummy’s car across the lanes of traffic. Thinking it is some kind of work-related ‘do’, Joe decides they’ll go surprise her and follows her car into the garage. And a surprise it is, but on him. There is his wife meeting one of their friends in a hotel. From that point forward, Joe’s life as he knew it disintegrates. He suddenly discovers he doesn’t know if/when his wife is lying. The man she met in the hotel sets out to destroy his life in some odd revenge. At the same time, the police are investigating the disappearance and suspected death of the man, and Joe is the primary suspect. The story moves forward quickly, with lots of plot turns, and leads to a conclusion that I didn’t anticipate. I’d certainly read this author again.

Thanks to NetGallery, St. Martin’s Press and the author for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Highly suspenseful thriller in the vein of "The Girl on the Train," and "The Woman in Cabin 10," Joe Lynch sees his wife in an unusual location and innocently thinks to approach her with their young son to say hello. This action results in a chain of horrifying events in which Joe is set up to take the fall for a murder he did not commit by people he most trusted. A variety of plot twists keep the reader turning the page, and as the book progresses, it seems more and more likely that Joe will become the victim in the set-up. The final plot twist is a bit of a surprise, even though the real perpetrators become slightly obvious to those who read many thriller/suspense novels, the way in which it unfolds is surprising. A definite recommendation for those who love this genre.

I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion.
I LOVED this book. I was drawn in from the first page and was a page turner till the last page. What a thrill ride. I was on the edge of my seat.

I can't even begin to explain how much I liked this book. Can't even begin. I will admit that I went into reading Lies, thinking that this book was going to be an ordinary mystery. Then I started reading the book and well, I was proven wrong, This book is anything but ordinary.

Lies had a simple plot. Joe sees his wife going into a hotel parking lot. Seeing that she is supposed to be at work, he follows her. He ends up witnessing her arguing with a family friend. Breaking them up, the friend turns on Joe and tries to start a fight. Forced to defend himself, Joe knocks the friend unconscious. Before he could get help for him, Joe's son has an asthma attack...which requires Joe to go home to get his inhaler. Returning, he finds that his friend has disappeared. Strange things start happening that culminate with the police charging Joe with murder. But everything is not what it seems. The truth is more sinister than what Joe expected.

I felt awful for Joe. His life was destroyed within a week. I did think that his reaction to what was going on was pretty dead on for an ordinary guy. His confusion over everything came off the pages. Even his actions started showing how erratic he was becoming. I love it that the author took him to the edge and then pulled him back. I won't say what pulled him back. But I will say that it was brilliant.

The mystery angle of the book was excellently written. I did figure out part of what was going on. I thought it was the whole thing. But, then the major plot twist happened and it seemed like it came out of left field. There is a smaller, minor plot twist that happens almost after the major one. It only added to the story. It was also sad.

The suspense angle of the book was awesome. I was with Joe, wondering who was tormenting him.

The end of the book was insane. Like I mentioned above, there was a plot twist that blew my mind. I didn't see it coming. But, the author also touched on what happened afterward. Which is something that I don't see too often in books like these. I was glad that the author chose to do that. It gave me the closure that I needed.

What I liked about Lies:

A) How intense the book was

B) Joe.

C) The plot twist

What I disliked about Lies:

A) Nothing, the book was very well written

I would give Lies an Adult rating. There is no sex. But there are sexually explicit pictures and talk. There is violence. There is language. I would suggest that no one under the age of 21 read this book.

There are trigger warnings for Lies. They are stalking and death.

I would reread Lies. I would also recommend this book to family and friends.

I would like to thank St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Lies.

Joe is driving his son home when he sees his wife pull into a hotel and meet a male friend of theirs in the restaurant. After this encounter things begin to unravel. Logan keeps you turning the pages to find out what will happen next, but I did struggle with the writing some.

Didn't see that coming at all! This book is a page turning thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have been able to read this. I took it with me on vacation for some 'light reading' and was immediately sucked into the story. Although my vacation was great, I may have done more if I wasn't so absorbed in this book. An interesting read.

Although lying is an age-old activity, LIES is a contemporary novel in every sense of the word, and Facebook plays a prominent role. Like lying, bullies are universal, in fact, these two vices seem to go hand in hand as the web of deceit escalates.

Seldom have I read a book so well-crafted with twists here and turns there that the only way to keep track is to keep on reading. LIES exploits all of our fears surrounding social media and technology by using cell phones and computers to create a false reality. This isn't dirty politics; this is eight days in one man's life where black is white, up is down, and nothing is quite as it seems.

LIES is the kind of novel that you just can't put down. From the first chapter, you are drawn into a tale where untruth seems to be the norm, so you keep on reading to see just where it is all heading. The story is every train wreck situation from which you couldn't extricate yourself; it is every automobile accident for which you slowed down and rubber necked.

My rule for reviewing is to never give anything away, and I feel that the little I have said has given away just a bit too much. So, if you are looking for a compelling, well-written book, with amazing characters that you will either love or hate, click on that button to buy this book!
