A stunning, up all night thriller, that will have you asking questions about the people you think you know best. Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Based on the description of the story I really thought I would like this book. The basic plot was good, the characters well developed, and I didn't guess the ending. But, the pace of the story was so slow that it was tedious to read. I kept expecting something exciting to happen, but every time our hero discovered another lie he was quick to forgive and move on. The plot didn’t move much, it just dragged. I really can’t recommend LIES to anyone looking for an exciting mystery.
I received a free advance copy of this novel from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This book is one that definitely keeps the pages turning. It is a quick read with chapters that end in cliffhangers. A classic who can you trust suspense, led me down many turns with one I had suspected all along but the ending was a total twisty surprise. Joe Lynch is a wonderful father, to Will his son whom he adores. He had just picked up Will from his preschool and was almost home when Will said look ... "Mummy car" and when Joe looked he saw the plate KK59DWD. It was his wife Mel's car indeed, going into an underground parking lot.... The race is on and it takes so many twists and turns my head was spinning. It was an interesting and scary look into how technology and social media can lead one into places they should not even go. Plenty of action and suspicion will keep you posted to this book as you won't want to put it down until you finish it.

The old saying is true...you don't realize what you have until it's gone...or that everything in your world has gone haywire and is not as it seems.
This book! What a page turner and twists along the way will keep you guessing. It has kept me up reading way to late into the night and then awake thinking about it during the night. Could this happen to anyone...it sure could. Some things are not as they seem.
The story of a once happy family, broken apart by lies and deception. Sounds typical, but it is not!
Social media and technology play a big part in the core of the suspense. Who is sending us things, who can hear us, see us. It is all very much something that could happen to anyone today.
Joe Lynch is a happily married to his wife of ten years, Meg, and father of little William. He is happy taking care of his son and bringing him to swim lessons and birthday parties. His wife is a busy executive. He is a school teacher. One day driving home, playing the car brand guessing game, William sees his Mum's car and wants to see her, so they follow her...into the parking garage of a hotel. What Joe witnesses is an angry altercation between his wife, Meg and their friend Beth's husband, Ben. One things leads to another and Joe is on the hunt to find out what is really going on, in the meantime it seems someone is hacking his computer, his phone, and his life - ripping it apart in pieces. Who can he trust, who can help him? Evidence is piling up against him for the "murder" of Ben, who has disappeared since the night in the hotel. The events build and turn and twist to an ending that no one will see coming!!
Great book! Great suspense, I didn't want to put it down!

Another great thriller read! I easily read this in one day.. I liked the story line and I am happy that the characters were so in-depth. It wasn't as suspenseful as I thought but still worth a read!

This is a fast-paced psychological thriller of a confused and gullible husband whose life falls to pieces after a chance encounter in a parking garage. Nothing is quite what it seems to Joe or to the reader. The author does a great job of glossing over the important information and spreading red herrings, so that while you know Joe isn't quite on the right track, you're not quite sure why until the very end. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a quick, suspenseful read, and who can suspend disbelief of a husband who is so utterly clueless about what is going on in his life. Joe gives new meaning to the term 'laid back.'

This book isn't what I expected, wondered where the story would take me but wow what a edgy twist and turn thrilled keeps you guessing and you living every moment with joe, fabulous fully recommend this book.

Amazing! I couldn’t put it down! It drew my attention from the first page and kept it until the last. A true page turner every step of the way.

The publisher provided me with the opportunity to read this in exchange for providing feedback. (via NetGalley)
4.5 stars. I got hooked on this around the 30% mark and didn't stop until I finished. The writing was done really well and I did not see the twist coming at the end! Great read.

A great suspenseful story with lots of twists and turns. Unique plot with a well developed main character.

This is a great book of mystery and family dynamics. I was shocked by who the perpetrator was in this book. I can't explain that much or I will give it away. But, this book did a great job keeping my interest and keeping me guessing along the way. I highly recommend this book.

I recommend checking out this new thriller. It has a interesting plot and is well-written. I will be checking out more from this author in the future!

This is an entertaining psychological thriller. It was a fast read and it kept my interest. I didn't have difficulty suspending my disbelief and found the plot has enough twists to make it suspenseful and intriguing.
What really makes this work is the first person narrative and the believability of the protagonist, Joe Lynch. I found him likable and relatable. What makes this different and fresh from similar books is that it is told from a male perspective and he is an average citizen.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the eARC.
Joe Lynch is married to Mel and they have a young son, William. He is a happy man. That changes when he's driving William home and sees his wife in what is obviously a heated argument with family friend Ben. Mel runs off, but Joe ends up in a row with Ben, leaving him unconscious on the ground.
As William has a serious asthma attack, Ben needs to leave immediately to seek help. To his relief, when he goes back to check up on Ben, he and his car are gone. But now the nightmare really starts ... threatening emails and texts from Ben promising to take everything good from his life make Joe's life a misery. Then Mel visits informing Joe that Ben has gone missing and that she made a terrible mistake regarding Ben.
This is a good psychological thriller, but Joe comes across as a weak character; it detracted from my enjoyment of the book. I wanted to slap some sense into him. There are some very good, tense scenes, but it really bothered me that Joe didn't kick Mel to the curb,.. Social media pays a big part in the story, which is believable, but Joe's arrest for murder (with no body) and the subsequent investigation seemed a bit farfetched.
But the ending is terrific and I can see why the book got so many 5 star reviews. My irritation with Joe got in the way though, so my rating is 3.5 stars.

I almost gave up on this book because I found the beginning rather slow, but so very glad that I kept on reading. This thriller is quite riveting and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very unexpected end. Joe is a happily married man with a young child. They are out driving when his son William spots his mother's car. They want to show her a certificate that William has just got, so follow her car. Joe is then devastated when he sees his wife with another man and that is when Joe's life takes a turn he never saw coming and he finds himself a suspect in a murder. How could all this happen to him so quickly. How can one be so content and then in a matter of days, have your whole world turned upside down. For a first book, this is a great novel and I look forward to reading more from this author. I thank the publisher and Netgalley for giving me an ARC for my honestvreview.

I received this book as an ARC from #NetGalley. This is one of the best books that I’ve read in ages! I did not see the end coming. Marriage is tricky, lying makes it trickier. Joe and Mel have been together for 10 years, Joe is a great dad and after seeing Mel’s car, follows her to a parking garage. After beating up Ben, Joe’s life goes crazy. Ben can’t be found, Joe is slammed on social media, loses his job, and tries to get his life back. All the time wondering, as is the reader, whether or not he can trust Mel.

Wow, what a great book! It's a page turning psychological thriller. One you will not want to put down! I definitely look forward to reading more from this author!

Firstly thank you so much to Net galley for this free e-book in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this story for a few reasons, the first and main one was SO many twists. I just love when you can predict and ending and i really didnt call this one. Secondly, it is set in the UK and thats a rarity in thrillers so for me it was much more relatable and thirdly and most importantly i just love mystery type thrillers!
Ok, so this story follows Joe and Mel lynch a seemingly happily married couple that share a 4 year old boy together. When Joe walks in on his wife arguing with Ben Delaney who is Mels best friends husband the seeds of doubt form in Joes mind and he sets out to uncover the truth. When Ben goes missing Joe is prime suspect in his disappearance and must uncover the truth before the police arrest him for something he didnt do.
Bens wife Beth and 14 year old daughter Alice are also good side characters, i usually find side characters in books a bit meh but these 2 were introduced well and added to the plot without taking it over.
I found that the story had a nice flow to it and was a really fast read, it was descriptive which i like and the story was believable. Sometimes thrillers can be a bit outlandish and take the twists too far but in this book they were subtle and it was nice to see the story develop chapter by chapter!

It took me exactly half way through the book before it started getting interesting. I found the added character of the little boy somewhat annoying and felt that the author could have handled his character better. The Childish talking then the explanation of the father, the explaining in full detail how he liked to play with his cars did not add to the book but detracted and I felt the author was trying to fill in space to make the book longer than it needed to be. The ending was great but that's about all I enjoyed from the book.

'Lies was a good read, a thriller on the lines of Gone girl . The story is entirely told from the male protagonist's view.(Joe Lynch). His interactions with his 4 year old son were heart warming. I felt the characters could have been fleshed out a bit more and the situations more taut and thrilling. Still never saw the end coming. The writer has a simple style and language. The stand out feature is this book shows how technology and social media can influence lives today and the damages they can do. Based on this fact I was expecting the story to go a different way and perplexed the police could not find the bad guys themselves. The plot wasn't 100% realistic in some places, yet makes for a good summer read.👍
