3.5 stars.
I’m on the fence with this one. I like the premise of it, but Adam and Evelyn kinda drove me a wee bit batty. There were a couple of times I had to put the book down because I was getting frustrated with the fake people! The beginning was great, it really drew me in. But as the story moved along, there was just so much drama between those two. It’s like they spend 90% of the book arguing then having angry make-up sex. I get that they have hurtful pasts and they’re trying to navigate their relationship but it was very one sided. He wants Evelyn to bare all and he doesn’t feel the need to bare his? Huh? I wanted to put them both in a time out. Although I was getting pissy at these two, I would probably read the second book just to see Evelyn grow and see what else happens between these two crazy kids.
All I can say is wow. The emotions in this book are All over the place . The issues of depresion and suicide are in the background and keep coming into the forefront. Evie and Adam are a good match of push and pull. They fight hard. They love hard. And I can't wait for the next part of their story.
Really good romance. There are problems with both of the main characters but that is what makes them interesting. Can’t wait to read more of their story.
Adam craves control ,Evelyn is searching for control. So when he becomes her savoir they both lose control .Neither can deny the sizzle of the sexual tension. They both have a past they wish neither to know. They only way that they can survive together and find true happiness. Is to overcome their suspicious and learn to trust the ones who are their biggest threat , each other. This is the first in this new series and I can't wait for the follow up. It's a good thing that will soon be out.
The first time I saw Adam Black, I was between the arms of a criminal, a gun to my throat and even then, I knew I was staring at the most dangerous man in the room.Maybe it was his confident, cerulean eyes, or the sex appeal radiating from his pores like heat waves on a scorching day, but by proximity alone he made my vision blur and my heart stammer. The day I was nearly killed in a bank hold-up, I began to live because of him. Now, I’m praying for the first time in years, hoping the scars of my past, the secrets I keep, don’t interfere with my future. When I started reading I couldn't put it down I read the book in one day.V.H. Luis is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of her books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.
