I have not read any other books by this author before. I do love books that are set in the low country. Carolina Slade is a wonderful character. She has weaknesses and fears. Perfect balance of intrigue and suspense, of heartwarming and heartbreak. I am going to go read the others in the series

Newberry Son is the 4th Carolina Slade mystery, and the first one that I have read. However, I have already purchased the first three books to make up for that grievous oversight.

As an special projects/investigator for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Carolina Space is hampered by the new head of her division who seems to delight in making her suffer through mundane tasks, and keep her out of investigations. After suspicions towards the Ag agent in Newberry are raised, Carolina goes off investigating on her own placing her job and life in jeopardy.

Original in locale and milieau, characters jump off the page and keep those pages turning quickly. Highly recommended!

Loved the whole series. Especially love the mentioning of local places. If you know the area it makes the story that much more fun.

I have read every one of the Carolina Slade mysteries and loved them all. This series just keeps getting better! I hope that there will be more to come in this series.
