Great thrilling novel which kept me turning the pages, would highly recommend to others. Brilliant writing, plot and characters.
Will I liked it ,it was a for out love like I was hoping.for, it did keep me pulled into the story but I just didn't love it like I did and do the rest of his books . With that said.I would love to say thanks to.Netgalley for giving me a chance at reading it and reviewing or in change for my honest opinion.
We love westerns around here and Johnstone is one of our favorites. My husband has read every book he has written. I don’t think the books are as good as when William was alive and writing on his own but we are hanging in determined to read all his books
I haven't read a western since reading L'Amour 20 years ago. This was fabulous in comparison to my memories. I thought no one could write a western as well as L'Amour. I was wrong. Strong, lonesome cowboys, even stronger cattle Barron women, and a great shoot out that leaves the bad guys on Boot Hill.
You can always count on an exciting story when you read Johnstone books but this one is even better! The good guy is actually a girl and manages to make the villians sorry they crossed her. As a woman in the West, Kate had many more restrictions on her actions but still manages to teach the bad guys a fierce lesson. This is not a typical Johnstone book, but it's as good...or better...than the others.
I like the wonderfully strong female character. I am learning to like Westerns as much as my sons does. Will definitely be looking for more books like this by this author.
The Devil to Pay is book five from The Kerrigans: A Texas Dynasty series. I enjoyed and look forward to more of the series. 4 1/2 stars.
