So, somehow, I never actually wrote my review when I initially read Ronan and Faith’s book. I will say there’s a very good reason for this, their story is one that shows just how hard Rebecca Zanetti’s writing will hit you.
Imagine being a vampire or demon, trapped, alone in a dimension for centuries, with only dreams of your person, alone, knowing only you keep your race safe…
Or…
Imagine being a doctor, science based, you don’t believe in things that go bump in the night, but that yummy (okay that’s also my opinion) man (hah!) on the bed…
Faith has to take Ronan on, you guessed it, faith, and Ronan has to not act like a centuries old savage… If they weren’t trying to save their world it would be hilarious.
Just when I thought this series was properly wrapped up and were looking forward to seeing what the future holds for little Hope Kayrs-Kyllwood, Ms. Zanetti brings back the excitement with more of the Dark Protectors; with a bigger, bolder storyline with new characters and an expanded world where the stakes are higher than they've ever been.
This series is my number one favorite and I binge it at least every other month, so knowing that there are more books to come is making me so happy!
With the previous books, there was the vague possibility of the earth coming to ruin, but with these new villains there is a certainty that earth will come to an end, unless the Realm can pull off a major feat and defeat the enemy.
Ronan Kayrs willingly gave up his life to keep the enemy in prison in a different dimension, but a side effect of the events in Marked is that his world got damaged and he found himself back on earth, hundreds of years after he left. The upside to being back is getting to meet his mate, who he's dreamed of for so long.
Dr. Faith Cooper is a woman of science and nothing about her new patient cannot be explained by the science she holds so dear, but she is willing to take any chance if there is the slightest option of saving her sister.
I enjoyed everything about this story and the possibilities that abound with this new storyline are endless. Ronan was a very interesting character and watching him catch up to hundreds of years of change was very entertaining in its own way. Faith is smart and independent, which I liked but for a smart woman she was very annoying, made some very dumb decisions instead of trusting the one person who had her best interests at heart.
Another keeper from Rebecca Zanetti. This whole series has been a roller-coaster ride of alpha males and strong female leads. Keep them coming.
This rant may contain some spoilers
Houston we have some very big problems! Readers, brace yourselves for a rant because I have some things to say about this book. Lets start with the better stuff.
The Good
* The vampire lore is imaginative and different.
* It is very readable.
* It is all a bit bonkers which I kinda liked.
* I finished it.
The Not so Bad
* This book is far to long. Not enough happened in-between the action scenes. Instead of putting in some character growth we are subjected to endless backwards and forwards between Ronan and Faith about their relationship, with neither willing to compromise or not be a dick.
* The first couple of chapters featured an unsure Ronan who had been thrust into modern times and had no idea what was going on. His sweet reactions to the modern world and his interactions with Siri were adorable. Unfortunately, this lasts about three chapters and its onto alpha male warrior mode.
* The mating aspect of this book is awful. He bares a mark therefore they must mate. There is no choice in this, no emotion, no love. There was no chemistry between the characters.
* Ronan could not care less about getting to know Faith as a person. He wants her to be a certain way and he isn't happy until she is. He doesn't learn anything about her past or personality.
* Faith is a nightmare of a character. She wants to be independent and free but refuses to listen to anyone, use her common sense and constantly makes bad decisions without thinking of the consequences of others. The worst part of this is that Zanetti made sure that all of Faith's actions backup and prove Ronan's point which is a massive issue because...
The Bad
* Ronan is awful. Seriously atrocious. If you like bossy borderline abusive men then maybe you'll love him! He is so forceful and pushy. He wants Faith to be completely under his control. He isn't happy for her to make any of her own choices. He tells her that she must stay where he tells her, that she isn't allowed to swear. At one point he actually says, 'Faith, obey' Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooope.
* He literally doesn't give her a choice as to weather she wants to mate him or not. There are a lot of 'you will mate me' getting throw about which really pissed me off.
* Women have no free will in this. If you are a mate then it is pretty much forced on you, A key? that's forced on you too. Men make all the choices.
* Ronan makes Faith call him a male instead of a man. (blugh)
* HE LITERALLY GRABS HER BY THE THROAT AT ONE POINT.
* She disobeys him and he thinks about killing her.
So if any of that is your bag have at it, but if like me you don't want to read romance full of alpha male stereotypes, misogyny and abuse disguised as affection then you might want to give this one a wide birth.
Vampires Faith was a very good installment in the Dark Protectors series - because I felt like Faith’s reactions were so relatable. Like, who would really believe in vampires and other creatures for real, right? The action and the interactions were well done, and I enjoyed how Faith and Ronan got to know each other.
Wow that was something I never saw coming, but I enjoyed every single second of it. For fans of this series we have seen a lot of changes in recent installments, mainly a huge jump in time and now some of our favorite second generation vampires and demons are coming into their own and making their mark on the world. Many of us were wondering who this Ronan character was and while I won’t totally spoil the surprised I will just say he is a distant relative of the ruling family and will become a very important link to some of our favorite folks as this series moves forward. This story begins with a new story arc that takes us into a secret society within the vampire nation and introduces us to some seriously badass sexy alpha males. Ronan and Faith’s story kicks off quickly when she is forced to face some hard truths and learns of the existence of the hidden world of the Realm first hand, not to mention a seemingly crazy vampire claiming she is his mate. But danger is following her everywhere and he is definitely the lesser of two evils so she decides to give him some limited trust, for now. Ronan is weak, but the sight of the mate he has dreamt of for a millennia is enough to power him through whatever is coming at them, whether it be finding his footing in this strange new world or keeping them both alive and safe long enough to actually complete the damn mating. In the end only by building trust will they be able to find a way to truly defeat their enemies and share a life together, when trust is something neither of them gives easily. I loved every second of this hair-raising story and even with previous novels there was way more action than I was expecting for what was essentially a new beginning in the series. The world of the Dark Protectors has changed on us again, with our perceptions being forced into all new directions and there was never really a dull moment to give us time to process it all. Ronan was alternately endearingly sweet and frustratingly annoying in his interactions with Faith and amazingly deadly and terrifying in his skill for killing his enemies. I never actually thought that Zanetti could make her males even more deadly and dangerous, but damn has she proven me wrong. Getting to experience the world from his viewpoint and watch him learn his way in our world was entertaining and gave me a few laughs while at the same time reminding me that sometimes the technologies we take for granted can actually make life more complicated instead of easier. Faith was one of those women that you just knew was going to get herself killed; her unwillingness to trust in her male, even when she’d make promises, led her to make stupid decisions putting not only herself but others in danger. While I liked her fighting spirit and willingness to help, those kinds of choices, especially when you’re making them just to prove the point that you can is stupid when in a dangerous situation. So that being said I had a love-hate relationship with Faith through most of the story, but thankfully came to like her in the end. The intensity and passion Ronan sparks whenever he even thinks about Faith are enough to have any woman willing to strip naked and offer herself for him, and thankfully once Faith does just that the fire they build between them is mind-boggling. I am already dying for whatever comes next in this series and know that Ms. Zanetti has just set her readers up for another long and amazing journey filled with magic, mayhem, intrigue, and love, and I for one am thrilled to be along for the ride. If you are looking for a story filled with sexy male heroes and sensuality to melt the panties right off your body, you have come to the right place, so grab some ice or ice cold wine and lose yourself in the magic of Vampire’s Faith.
I loved the passion that Ronan had for his friends and what he was willing to sacrifice to keep them safe. When he meets Faith, all of that love and devotion transferred to her. It was inspiring how much Faith and Ronan loved eachother and their families.
The book was frustrating. More specifically Faith was. She was too stuck in not believing Ronan and it took a lot of time for her to come to terms with everything he told her. She got on my nerves for that and it wasn't nice. I might have just begun the series, but I was intrigued and I want to see more of this world. I didn't feel like I missed something and to me at least, the book can be read as stand-alone. Ronan has been in a coma for 1000 years and his character has some views that might not seem good to everyone. He is an alpha male.
Steamy, actiony goodness, full of heart, sexy moments and tenderness. I love Rebeca Zanetti’s writing -it’s equal parts emotional and plot driven and this whole series is excellent entertainment.

4.25 Hearts WHOO HOO The Dark Protectors series is back! Zanetti is the Queen of Paranormal in my opinion. I have never read a book from Zanetti that I did not enjoy. Some more than others but always an enjoyable read.
Dr Faith has the same reaction that I think most would have finding out that Vampires exist but she is a scientist. Scientist can not possibly believe in something that science can not explain.
And then there is King Ronan… One word fits him… YUM! No more needs to be said.
If you love vampires and have not read any of Zanetti’s books.. WHY NOT? Pick them up but start at the beginning. You won’t be disappointed.
Disclaimer:
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This book opened up an entire new chapter in this Dark Protector's series and I am here for it. I know I wasn't the only one sad when we thought the DP series had come to an end, but this gave me life. However, I can admit that Dr. Faith was a little bit annoying. There's 'hard to convince' and then there's Faith. At one point, I found myself wishing she would just get with the program, internalize what Ronan was telling her and move the freak on. I also enjoyed the cloak and dagger of the group Ronan belonged to. We knew some of the secrets, but it was obvious there was many more being left out.
This was my first read by Rebecca Zanetti and I absolutely loved it. It can be read as a standalone and I was able to follow everything that I'm guessing is from other storylines. I will definitely be going back and reading the previously released books in this series. If your a fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, you'll love this book.
The writing is great and will suck you right into the world. The action starts right off and keeps you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Told in multiple POV's.
Vampires, demons and witches. Oh my! Rebecca Zanetti is back with a glue your eyes to the page read. The story/ plot is all new but still manages to bring in material from her last two series. The characters are delightful and still have moments of wanting to hug and shake them. Come and meet The Seven!
This books can be read before her other series (after all it is the start to a new series), but it does have references to the previous series, so it's MUCH more enjoyable to read them all in order.
If you enjoy Paranormal Romance, this book...ALL Rebecca Zanetti's books are a must read.
I was so overjoyed about the novel, "Vampire's Faith." I have been a devoted reader of the author's, Rebecca Zanetti's, "Dark Protectors," for so long. I have loved every single book, until now. Sadly, I did not find myself indulging in this story as much as I did the others. The reason for this is because I feel strongly that this book is merely a repeat. The story is the standard story that I have been reading with each newly published writings of the series. The action is the same. The sex is the same. The characters have the same personalities as those before them. There is nothing special about this story.
Don't get me wrong I liked the book. I didn't love it. I did like it. It isn't a favorite. I won't be rereading the novel. Yet, the story itself does have its moments. For example, I go back to this author time and time again because she knows how to pen an exceptional romance. Darker, edger and powerful the romance always excels in a Zanetti book. I'm strictly a romance reader so I have high expectations for romance. Zanetti delivers.
The plots, on the other hand, need work. This book is proof. The plots duplicate so much that I have had my fill. I love a vampire hero. I love a paranormal romance. I just need more of a backstory if I am going to rate a book high. So the plot of this story was a downfall for me.
I did like both Ronan and Faith. I thought together with the story the twosome added a bit of a much-needed spark. Both Ronan and Faith had something to gain and to learn from one another. I did much prefer Ronan's character to Faith's and there were times when Ronan did out shadow Faith as a character, but together the pair worked well enough for me.
Overall, the "Dark Protectors," series will always be a favorite of mine but for now, my fun ends here.
Ronan Kayrs wakes up in the twenty first century having no idea where he is. What he does know is that he isn’t supposed to be there, he’s not all full strength, and he’s found his mate. All in about five minutes. There is sort of an off-brand of the Kurjans that are even more evil than the Kurjans. Ronan and his fellow warriors did a spell five hundred years ago to trap their leader. The fact that Ronan is awake means that it’s only a matter of time before that world collapses and he is free. Now Ronan is awake and facing the woman that he has dreamed of for hundreds of years. The only problem now is that vampires are not only hidden, they’re treated as myths. So how is he going to get Faith to see him as he truly is.
Dr. Faith Cooper is called in when a perfectly health man appears to be in a coma for 25 years. Faith immediately suspects a prank when she sees the shape he is in. Imagine her surprise when the patient wakes up, starts talking about vampires and demons, then tells her that she is his mate. Laughable. Faith is a woman of science and in her world, vampires don’t exist. Things start changing when the off-brand (I can’t remember their name for the life of me) Kurjans start coming after Ronan and Faith. It’s then that Faith is brought fully into the world of the Realm, vampires, witches, and demons.
So the main problem here is that Ronan and his circle are trying to find three keys. AKA three women. Faith’s sister happens to be one of those women and she keeps it quiet. Her sister has been in coma herself ever since an accident and Faith has been unable to reach her, even with her gift. See, Faith can talk to people in comas. Weird, right? She’s never been able to talk to her sister however.
This book was unusual because of Ronan. He was a throwback to the time where men took care of women and women did what men told them. Faith rebels at that more than other women probably would because she’s always been so independent. I did like this book despite the almost weirdness of it. It’s kind of hard to explain without going into major spoilers. Overall, I enjoyed it and hope that we don’t have to wait other handful of years for the next Dark Protectors book.
Rating: 3.5 out of 5
I know what you’re thinking… How in the heck can Ronan Kayrs be the Vampire King when Dage Kayrs (CLAIMED, Book 2) is the King of the Realm??? My first thought was there’s going to be a Terminator-like timeline or something from Back to the Future. Then I thought there might be a time jump in the story where the next King is Ronan but then I thought: Who the hell is Ronan? Where does he fit into the Dark Protectors world? Thankfully all the answers to our questions are answered pretty quickly so we don’t spend most of our time confused! I love the way Rebecca Zanetti’s mind works!
VAMPIRE’S FAITH continues our journey into the heart of the Dark Protectors world where there’s always a war to fight, a wrong to right and where the Realm can’t get a break from those damn Kurjans! It’s also where we are introduced to new characters, exciting plots twists, dangerous secrets and villains deadlier than you can imagine! What more can you ask for?
There was one hiccup in the story for me though. I was not a fan of the heroine Grace. For a doctor, she was pretty stupid. Stupid choices, trust issues and some other stuff that just irritated the heck out of me, but it wasn’t enough to spoil an otherwise amazing story!
VAMPIRE’S FAITH is fast-paced, exciting, engaging and will leave you desperate for more!
I love this series! The characters are well developed and the men are strong without going to over-the-top.
I really struggled to like the heroine in this one. Faith does not live up to her name. She is a woman of science and doesn't believe in Vampires. Ronan can only show and tell her so much. Faith makes poor decisions throughout the book and causes problems for both sides. Ronan has made the ultimate sacrifice for humanity to become part of a magical prison. He is confused about how he ended up here, on Earth, but is amazingly adaptable.
Another amazing read by one of my favoite authors! Fascinating storyline, riveting characters, and wonderful romance. Love, love, love this series!
Dr. Faith Cooper thought her friend was playing a joke on her when she was called in to witness something odd, but when said patient wakes up and claims to be a vampire from another time, she thinks it’s time he visit the psych ward. When odd men start hunting them down and she has a hard time resisting him, he might just be telling the truth.
This was a pretty good book. I liked following Faith from beginning to end as she learned about this dangerous world and figured out her place in it. I look forward to reading the next story in this series. I highly recommend.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
I am so happy that Rebecca Zanetti decided to continue writing her Dark Protector series after we all thought she ended it with the epic conclusion book 'Marked' back in 2014. Vampires Faith is a great book for new readers to start reading as she introduces us to new characters, grown up characters of children who were born during the series and our old favorites we love.
