Usually it is the man that I don't like but for this story, I just could not like Christine. She was annoying and very dismissive of Arif. No matter how many times someone asked her what SHE wanted, she could only talk about her father and his plans. Kinda wanted to smack some sense into her - she had this great guy showering her with attention, gifts, romance and she ignored him.
Later in the book when she finally woke up and finally admitted she did have feelings was the best part of the book.
Love this series , can't wait to read the next one in it , it keeps.getting better which each book, thank you Netgalley for letting me read and review it
The Sheikh's Determined Lover is book 2 of the Zahkim Sheikhs 3 part series and is written by Leslie North. Christine Harper wants/needs access to the Royal Palace archives to prove that her father's theory relating to the Lion people who first settled in Egypt. Sheikh Arif ben Iben falls in love with Christine at first sight and proposes to her. Unsurprisingly she turns him down! He is willing to allow her to have access to his archives if she will allow him to spend three months trying to change her mind about marrying him and moving to Zahkim. Will Arif be able take jeep her attention away from the dusty archives and fall in love with him?
A traditional love story with a twist as it is the hero not the heroine who believes in fate and love at first sight. An enjoyable light read.
I received this book via Netgalley UK in exchange for an honest review.
Sheikh Arif ben Iben must convince Christine that their fate is together in a love match. The second of the Zahkim Sheikhs Series brings a good love story with characters the reader can enjoy.
Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
I like books to be a little realistic & this one didn’t do it for me. Proposing marriage when just meeting was a little far fetched for me.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Relay Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 2nd in the series. It reads well as a stand alone.. Arif claims love at first sight but has to prove it!! He has to win Christine over. A cute, fun story with a happy ending. Most romance readers would enjoy.
Highly entertaining, emotionally thrilling, sweetly sexy and action packed romantic adventure filled with desire, the struggle for true love and passion.
Christine Harper is sweetly sexy, charming and determined bookworm her looking for the information her father has longed for... Sheikh Arif is a strong, sexy, charming alpha male looking to convince her she belongs with him for life and is willing to use the royal archives to give him the time to prove it... highly enjoyable reading.
Christine had one goal in mind when she was visiting her childhood friend’s wedding. Accessing the archives in the palace was a dream come true. Meeting a Shiek that could possibly make this dream come true was icing on the cake. Arif knew what he wanted and he wasn’t about to let a timid American stand in his way. He would wait patiently while he slowly seduced Christina to his way of thinking. After all who could argue with fate has decided. Love how each book in the series is written!
The Sheikh’s Determined Lover by Leslie North
A romance from Ms North is a love story with emotion. I love the way the book digs through images to reach the substance and emotion beneath the character’s image. Wonderfully easy to read, this story gives the reader the escapism of reading with the charm of modern romance.
5 Star Read
ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!!
I really enjoy Leslie North’s books!! In the 2nd in her latest Shiek series we meet Arif & Christine ...
Christine holds a PHD as a researcher hoping to gain access to the palace archives - she is in Zahkim to see her good friend get married ...
Arif sees Christine at the wedding & its like a lightening bolt strikes - but that’s Love for him anyway ... Christine wants nothing to do with a sheik until he promises her access to the archives in exchange she allows him to court her & prove his love ...
I love how smart Christine is & she is not one to let Arif get the best of her since she really doesn’t believe in true love - but maybe she should ..,,
Really quick read - engaging characters & HEA
Loved this book !!
Leslie North continues to write great stories that makes the reader fall in love with her characters. "The Sheikh's Determined Lover" is a story of love at first sight, at least for the Sheikh. A great afternoon read, it will pull on the heartstrings, to see how hard Arif was willing to work to break through Christine's walls. With details and a flawless flow in the storyline of their romance, it is written in a way that gives the reader a real page turner and a HEA for Arif and Christine. I would like to thank NetGalley and Relay Pub. for gifting me "The Sheikh's Determined Lover". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 4.5 Stars!
Christine is on a mission to gain access to the royal palace to find the research that can hopefully cure her father. Arif has fallen in love with Christine at first sight but Christine is hesitant. Arif will give her three months of access to the archives in exchange for Christine allowing him to court her. Will Arif be able to win the heart of the woman he loves?
Again, another wonderful romance by Leslie North. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I loved how determined Christine was to help her father and how much Arif loved her. This was such a great book!
I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest
For Arif, it was love at first sight
For Christine, it was a chance to help her father.
Not he just have to woo her to his way of thinking.
The storytelling + the character's build were awesome!
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
This book involved a heroine who was the one being chase and the hero trying to persuade her to become involved with him. Christine was a bookworm who is a bit oblivious to Arif's feelings. The two of them had a nice chemistry and the plot moved along quite well. The "plot setback" was a bit contrived and glossed over but wasn't enough to detract from the story. I received a free ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Christine thought maybe there were worse fates then marrying a sheikh. She had thought Tess had lost it when she said she was marrying a sheikh. But Tess life - her singing career and her production company- was like something out of a movie as was her wedding. Christine felt she was just the boring friend. She also felt she better start cheering up and stop being so nervous and negative. Christine had a lot to lose, her dad even more if she didn’t achieve her aim for coming to Zahkim. All Christine wanted was to get out of the Palace Gardens where tess’s wedding was being held and go exploring. Christine felt she had a way of getting her dad more committed to beating his cancer - but she needed access to the Palace Archives. Christine was content to sit back and stay on the sidelines as she felt comfortable she always had. Tess and christine had been best friends growing up but then tess left to find her fortune. They reconnected through emails and texts over the years. Christine didn’t know why fairy tale love happened to other people and not practical women who preferred books and museums, and antiquities to hot dates. Then Tess and her new husband approached Christine and introduced her to Sheikh Afir ben Iben - who was known as the Protector Of knowledge. He kissed Christine's palm and the top of her hand and a charge went through her. Christine thought she had to get out ,more. She’d been buried with her dissertation for too long. She was still buried in research. Then before she knew it Sheikh Afir was taking her to the library. Christine was not used to much male possessiveness, it was kinda nice and left her feeling dainty and protected. the n the Sheikh looked at cristine and asked her to marry him. When Arif had set eyes on Christine he knew she was for him. Then Arif said” you aren’t going to accept my proposal” and cristine said no. So Arif said he make a deal with her. Christine was to stay in Zahkim for three months and if that time she could do her research in the archives and he would help her , but she also had to let Afir court her. Then Arif said he promised her the next time he asked her to marry him she would say yes. Christine thought it may be harder to manage both her research and the too sexy Sheikh then she anticipated. Christine had always been a sucker for men who loved animals, and it seemed Sheikh Afir was loved by his horse. Christine knew she wasn’t the girl guys fell for - certainly not instantly, Christine was too serious and focused. She usually bored a death with facts and trivia. Christine had a teaching job to go back to after her sabbatical ended. The Sheikh had given Christine a beautiful sapphire ring and it was odd that it didn’t feel strange on her hand as she doesn't wear jewelry often. Of course she would return it to Arif before she left his country. Christine's father buried himself even deeper than she in work . On the third day Arif told christine they had a deal and today he had the day planned for courtship. Christine needed a break anyway. Arif needed a woman if his life - someone to care for him, a woman such as his christine who would love him for himself , not his position in Zahkim. He also found out Christine was a virgin. A few days later Arid took Christine to a traditional wedding on a third cousin related to the royal family. Zarek was on his honeymoon with tess so it fell to Afir to attend. Christine and Arif became lovers that night. Christine decided she could at least have one night to look back on when she was much older.
Of course I loved this book it was by Leslie North and about Sheiks what’s not to love? I loved the heat between Arif and Christine and I just loved them together. I didn’t like Arif’s aunt and how she almost succeeded in driving Christine away. I loved the descriptions and details of the scenery and the wedding and clothing and everything so you formed an actual picture in your mind and you felt like you were right there with Christine and Arif. Hats off to The author. This was a quick, interesting, fun, romantic read. I didn’t want to set it down and it kept my interest from the first page until the last. , I loved the Arif was determined Christine was fated to be his no matter what she said. I could find nothing to criticize and that made me very HAPPY! I loved the characters and the ins and outs and I highly recommend.
Arif knew when he first met Christine that he wants to marry her. Throughout the book He keeps trying to figure out the best way to get her to say yes.
Christine is more interested in Arif's country's history and finding a reason for her dad to live, than she is in finding love. So Arif didn't have an easy way of getting what he wanted.
