Ahhhh! Damn, I wished I liked it more! It’s not your fault writer, it’s all mine 😣 The problem is, that I’m used to reading Dark Romances and as soon as I saw this had Mafia genre in it I was expecting a Satan-incarnated male MC - which was not the case! Sorry, I just like my male MC to be dangerous and ruthless killers, and I like my scenes to include gore and torture 🤫
Apart from that though, I really liked the storyline (though the start of the book was a bit boring and dragged) and also the female MC is one of the few I’ve ever liked! She’s ACTUALLY smart and strong and independent, unlike many other female MCs that say they are but become complete wusses as soon as they meet the male MC 😒

Not a predictable book at all where love, crime and gangsters are connected. There was a good based story line running through the pages which had me constantly guessing.
I can't wait for book number 2.
I really enjoyed this book! Read it in two days! I was in the mood for romance and thought of picking it up, so thanks Netgalley for a copy of it! I was not expecting to read the story that I read and I really enjoyed Yvette's and Anthony's relationship, as well as their character growth (especially Yvette's who goes from being pushed around, to someone who can stand on their own). Yes, there were moments when I was like... nah, that's fiction, but overall it was a surprisingly good read (although I did find a typo). There is a cliffhanger at the end, but not enough to kill your soul, but enough to want to read book two! I am looking forward to it!!
Woah. What a great start to a series! I couldn't put it down, I stayed up all night reading it
The story is full of intrigue and ends on a cliffhanger!
I really did like the book but the beginning of a series. Yvette likes her job but one day goes to work to find her boss gone and Antony Carbonaro in his place. They have an immediate attraction but neither like to mix business with pleasure. Yvette does not realize the shipping company is owned by the Carbonaro family. Her nice quiet life suddenly is turned up side down. Can Yvette take control of her life again after a bombing puts her too close to danger like she has never experienced?
Well I really liked the book! The writing was very well done!! But I hated the way it ends!!! Ugh!! It's a very suspenseful book, the characters are well written and I did like them! It's a mafia story and definitely had some brutal moments! The main heroine is such a strong developed character I truly enjoyed her!! Anthony has a lot to prove to "the family" he made some sketchy decisions that I didn't really agree with but like I said it was well written not really my cup of tea but I'm sure a lot will enjoy this read!! Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!

I actually live Mafia books and that is what drew me to this one.
This story really broke my heart because events can keep you away from the one you love and in this book, being in a Mafia Crime Family, is exactly what did that to Antony and Yvette.
I did not take to how it started and wished the prologue was scraped off, but one thing that I was intrigued by was the presence that Antony radiate wherever he goes-it was both powerful as it was uncertain and that stuck with me. Those who love crime novels with a pinch of romance would devour this book!
Thank you NetGalley for the eARC.
