A very enjoyable read. Although I am not the age this is intended for, it was a good read. I could see myself reading this out loud to children during December. I feel it may be too long to keep young children's attention.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I selected this book thinking it would be a picture book. Instead, it was a middle grade book. I liked the story and the concept. I think younger kids would enjoy it if you read it aloud. I think it should become part of your Christmas tradition.
This book was such a good book. I read it and enjoyed it very much. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Title: The Christmasaurus
Author: Tom Fletcher
Genre: children fiction
Description
Why settle for a pony or a puppy for Christmas when you could have a dinosaur? A rollicking adventure from singer-songwriter and YouTuber Tom Fletcher.
Once upon a time--long, long ago, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth--an egg rolled away from its mother and landed in the ocean, where it froze solid and stayed peacefully for thousands of years. Then one day Santa and his elves discover the frozen egg, and Santa sits on it to see if it will hatch. But he can't guess what's inside. . . . A dinosaur!
Meanwhile, a young boy named William Trundle has only ever wished for one thing for Christmas: a dinosaur! So when Santa accidentally gives William the real Christmasaurus instead of a stuffed replica, it's the BEST CHRISTMAS EVER! Until an evil man known as the Hunter decides a dinosaur will be the perfect addition to his collection.

Would I recommend it? yes
Will I read anything else by this author ? I don't know because I don't usually read children's fiction
A cute and adorable story about a boy and his dinosaur ( yes you read it right , not about a boy and his dog but about a boy and his dinosaur) ,As well as being Charming, funny, whimsical and heart-warming, it's truly a festive treat for readers young and not so young , and the more you read it the more you fall in love with the characters , its so to be a favorite of anyone no matter their age. With that said I want to thank Netgalley for letting me read and review .
While there are plenty of Christmas picture books, we don't get as many for the chapter book set. So this book fills a definite need. It's mostly silly with a touch of heart. It has obvious lessons about bullying and loneliness. But with a dinosaur. And fart jokes. And a kid in a wheelchair.
This was a cute story and my younger middle school students will enjoy this book. Santa and his elves find a frozen dinosaur egg from long ago, and chaos ensues. Funny story!
This was such a very sweet story. It was so much more emotional than I was expecting. I can't wait to share it with my little man when he is a bit older. I definitely recommend this heartwarming tale.
This is our new family tradition, reading this book and drinking hot chocolate. A perfect story to get for young and old alike to read on Christmas Eve or even over the course of Christmas week. With a great story, adorable characters, and one very cool dinosaur, Christmasaurus is definitely a new classic for the holiday.
**thank you to the publishers for the honor to review***
I did not realize that this book was intended for an older child, but once I started reading it I really wanted to finish it. My grandson is too young to enjoy it now but I will definitely purchase in a few years. It is a sweet story and the language is really geared for a young child to enjoy. It does deal with the death of the mother which might be disturbing for some children, so parents beware if you have a sensitive child. The relationship between father and son is well written and develops as the story progresses. The issue of bullying is also covered and does a nice job of trying to explain why some bullies act the way they do. It was entertaining and had a nice happy ending.
My son loved this book! He was so excited to see it had dinosaurs and he was engaged in seeing what would happen to this egg and dinosaur. He thought sitting on the egg was really funny. My son did say the book was long but he overall enjoyed it!
I had a wonderful time reading The Christmasaurus. The story starts off strong and never once lost its momentum. It told a different kind of holiday story, one that hasn’t been told before. The characters were quite likable, and your feelings on some characters may change as this tale unfolds. This was the first book I have read in a while that truly moved me. It does a great job capturing the spirit of this holiday, and I can see most kids having a lot of fun reading it.
This is a fun middle grade Christmas story about a young boy named william who is in a wheel chair and his love of dinosaurs. Wuch a lovely story that i shared with my 14 year old. Tom does such a good job of accurately portraying life in a wheelchair-the positives and negatives! It is a story that I know could bring so much light and hope to so many children in the world in William's position. Lots of good lessons in this story along with a nice comical funnies to go along with what can be some serious topics. A wonderful read.
Omg this book was soooo cute. From the minute I opened this book I was smiling. The art work is super adorable, and the way it is written along with the illustrations really just make this. The storyline is also very cute, and really cute is the main word to use for this story. I definitely would recommend reading this to your kid during the Christmas time because it is making me want the holiday season to get here.
This is an adorable chapter book with really cute illustrations. The different size font was an added bonus. I highly recommend this book. Thank you Random House Children's Random House Books For Young Readers via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. I really enjoyed it. This is my honest opinion.
This is a really cute early chapter book. I especially love the illustrations throughout the book. The different font type/size is a little annoying to read, but I suppose might keep grade-school aged kids more engaged? The story is fun and good for a K-5 age range.
I first became interested in Tom Fletcher many years ago when I discovered his band McFly and I was thrilled when he started writing books. I find his writing style to be funny, engaging and thoughtful. He writes books destined to be modern day classics that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. I am reviewing this book based on an ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.
