This is a heartprint book for me! I love the characters and the way their stories bring them together. Mavis is a spunky girl who has never stayed in one place long enough to make a true friend, and she longs for that. Rose is lonely, and feels that she doesn’t really fit in with some of the other girls in her neighborhood. These two girls come from two entirely different worlds, but they are brought together when Mavis’s mother begins working for Rose’s family. They begin working together to try to help Mr. Duffy, who has been depressed since the death of his dog, Queenie. I look for many young readers to enjoy this book!
