I completely devoured this whole series!! Definetly added to my favs list and will be one I re-read!!!
4.5 stars
Beckett and Gia have had the hots for each other for a few years, but they’ve never acted on their attraction. Until a slip of the lips in a drunken haze cues Beckett into Gia’s true feelings...
Gia was a spitfire with a chip on her shoulder and oh my lands, did she have sass! A career in security constantly defending her abilities caused Gia to have a tendency to be an overachiever- the backfire was she never cut back and let loose. Until Beckett provided a safe haven. Gia’s cloak of defensiveness and tough attitude hid a rather sweet and protective personality I could relate to and made her easy to like.
Beckett had the grace and charm of a panther. Sleek and silent, he pounced out of nowhere with his slightly bossy nature, taking Gia by surprise with his deviously simple plan to sway her into a relationship. It was actually sweetly amusing and intelligently thought out, but his bigger attraction was his vulnerable openness with his sensory processing issues. His tangible need to touch and be touched was handled gracefully and informatively and I personally enjoyed the spin it put on Beckett’s character.
There’s so much happening in this book! The gang comes out enforce to help one of their own, Beckett and Gia’s sizzling connection paces the way for a great romance, and with a twisty bit of suspense...well, I’ll just say Beckett and Gia’s story had all the elements I’ve come to love with this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
While not the first in the Men of Haven series, it can easily be read as a standalone. A touch of suspense, a lot of emotion, a bit of steam, and a strong female with a sense of humor makes this book an overall winner :)
This was my first book from Rhenna Morgan and the first in the series. And I wasn't disappointed at all. There was a good plot. Very good writing, very good pace. For fan of romance mixed with a bit of suspense and a good amount of sexy time between the sheets, this is a must have. I'll definitely check out her other selections.
Thanks to the publisher via Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This novel reminded me quite a bit of Lori Foster’s novels about MMA fighters and the women they love. In this case, we have security experts and the women they love. They’re all extremely buff, hunky alpha guys who are over-protective of their women, but the women come to enjoy and accept that sort of possessive, protective love.
The heroine of this book, Gia Sinclair, runs her own security company and she’s been fighting her attraction to Beckett Tate who runs a security firm with several guys that he terms his “brothers,” although they’re bound by friendship, not blood. I haven’t read the previous books in this series, and it got a bit confusing as the other characters appear and I couldn’t keep straight which guy was paired with which woman, but it wasn’t a real problem.
Gia and Beckett come together relatively early in the book. They become a couple with lots of hot sex during which Gia comes to enjoy Beck’s dominant attitude in the bedroom. The rest of the novel deals with the mystery of someone tinkering with Gia’s business and basically destroying her professional reputation.
SPOILERS:
It was rather obvious to me early on who the culprit in the sabotage was. There seemed to be a major clue that both Beckett and Gia ignored when her father calls her to ask about the sabotage even though Beckett’s guys had gotten the incriminating video taken down immediately from the internet. Wouldn’t that be the first question such supposedly smart security people would ask - how did this guy know that she had had a problem at a time no one else knew? Of course, if they had figured out, based on that clue, who was guilty, they wouldn’t have had the bigger problems later on.
Gia is supposed to be a rather BA, tough woman, but we don’t see her being tough. Mostly, she has to be rescued by Beckett and his posse. I liked the relationship between her and Beckett, but the rest of the plot didn’t do much for me.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
Stand & Deliver is book five in the Men of Haven series by Rhenna Morgan. This is one of those times that come along when the rating system we are allowed does not do justice to the book. This book gets ALL the stars! Five is not enough! I can’t even really say what it was about Beckett that did it for me, and oh my gosh, he most definitely did do it for me! Maybe that he was an all alpha, tough, possessive, no holds barred man, but also had a weakness. Something he had to deal with, fight against, that made him real, it made him human, and it made me love him all the more!
Beckett Tate never knew what it was like to have a family, to have someone protect your back, except for his best friend, Knox, whom he grew up with. When he and Knox joined the Haven Brotherhood, though, he finally realized what he had been missing his whole life, he had a family. And their family was growing as four of his brothers had claimed their women. Beckett works with Knox for a security company. He has known Gia Sinclair for three years now since she is in the same line of work. But he’d watched her turn away man after man and it was obvious she didn’t mix work and dating. So, he kept his distance but he watched her, and he dreamed about her. On one particular night, though, when Gia had a few too many shots of tequila, she let slip a little tidbit of information that let him know she had also been watching him. He knew right that minute that his days of just dreaming about Gia, and watching her from a distance were over. That she was going to be his. Now all he had to do was convince her of that once she sobered up.
“I want your eyes wide-open and your thoughts crystal clear the next time you see me.” His grip tightened against her scalp, conviction pushing the words free in an almost violent surge. “Because your days of dreaming are over.”
Gia was raised by her wealthy attorney father and socialite mother in Atlanta. They expected Gia to be a carbon copy of her mother, to do as she was told, marry, have children. But that’s not what she wanted at all. She majored in criminal justice in college and after graduating, started freelancing in security. She had worked with Knox and Beckett on occasion and knew about the Haven Brothers and how they worked. Every time she was around Beckett, she felt flustered, she knew she was attracted to him. He was always there in the back of her mind. But she saw him parade a different woman with him every time he was out. She was not going to be another notch in his bedpost. Plus, she worked with him on occasion. So she just admired him from a distance. But evidently she let her feelings slip after she had a few too many shots. And now, Beckett has let her know that their days of mutual admiring from afar are over. That he wants her, for more than just one night! That he’s all in, and he will do whatever it takes to show her that she can trust him.
The chemistry between Gia and Beckett is off the charts, like in the stratosphere. Gia is a strong woman and is used to being in control. But with Beckett, she can let that control go, let him take the wheel so to speak. But that is in the bedroom only. Outside of the bedroom, he shows her nothing but respect. And he offers her something else too, a family. His brothers, their wives, the moms, all of them, take Gia in like one of their own. She’s never experienced anything like this before, her own upbringing cold and lonely. Can she accept what Beckett is offering her? Can she trust him?
Gia is good at what she does. But accidents start happening that make her doubt herself. Now she has managed to score a huge gig, one that will be a big addition to her resume. With Beckett and his brothers at her back, she’s sure to pull it off.
This book just blew me away right from the start. Gia and Beckett together were perfection. I swooned, I sighed, I gasped. Of the Haven Brothers I would have told you with no hesitation that my favorite so far was Trevor. But now…I can’t really say that. Beckett has stolen my heart. Rhenna Morgan is now hard at work on Axel’s story, the Scottish hottie, which is going to be called Down & Dirty. I hope those fingers are typing fast, Rhenna. That book can’t get here fast enough.
“Beckett? What just happened?”
“That was the beginning of me and you.”

"Stand & Deliver" by Rhenna Morgan
My Thoughts....
Great story with not only a sweet romance but also a little mystery and suspense that will keep you turning the pages. This novel features Beckett and Gia both with stubborn ways that will keep the reader shaking there heads and saying not again! Believe me these two go so well utterly together! This is the fifth brother[Beckett] in the 'Men of Haven' series where we find Becket and Gia finally getting together. However, this author really knows how to bring out the unexpected giving the reader a lots of depth in creating for us such a well written story. I really liked how the SPD [Sensory Processing Disorder] was incorporated into this story. I was able to learn something from what SPD was in the way it was presented in this story. If you are looking for a good read "Stand & Deliver" will give the reader a story that is enriched with a little bit of it all from 'emotion, vulnerability, love, friendship, family, intensity, humorous, loyal, heart and passion' all of this will definitely keep your attention through this incredible good read. So, is there another read left in this Men of Haven Series? Yes, Axel's story!
This is for me the best story from the series. The story from Gia and Beckett is absolutely amazing from the start and until the end. Both Gia and Beckett are well developed and easy to love. The background from both of them is solid and great written and both are still struggling with the effects of the past. But it is a huge difference they both have someone to fight in their corner. It is like they both know each other and how to soothe their pain or other bad feelings. The action between the sheets is so hot and amazingly written. Really enjoyable read. Highly recommended.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
For Romantic Suspense Readers this series should be at the top of your list of Summer reads. FYI Steamy Sexy times.
Stand and Deliver is a fun feisty story that readers of romantic suspense and alpha men will fall head over heels in love with.
Rhenna Morgan series Men of Haven has me a little lost at first since it was my first book I have read by this author so jumping in at book 5 isn't always the best. With that being said this can be read as a stand alone novel.
Beckett Tate is very Alpha but he has a condition that most women miss understand. The author reached this topic out and was able to bring it into the light allowing readers to see a different side to the Alpha hear me roar male.
Gia Sinclair is feisty, fun, and kick butt strong.
The author is able to create a decent backstory that readers will be able to grab onto and watch as the past and present collide in a perfect storm. Stand and Deliver has romance, action, steamy sexy times and easy fun dialogue. I promise is you start with book 5 of the Men of Haven you will be spending the next month buying and reading book 1-4 to enjoy the different characters and stories Rhenna Morgan has to offer.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Carina Press for the Advance copy of Rhenna Morgan Stand and Deliver
4.5 Stars The fifth instalment in the Haven Brotherhood and what a great read it was. Stand & deliver has everything I have come to enjoy about this series that just keep me wanting with every book. I love the strength of the characters and the well written storyline. This will definitely be one series sitting on my favourite book shelf to enjoy over and over again.
ONE OF THE BEST SERIES EVER!
Yes, this is only my personal opinion, but I can honestly say that any near 400-page book (which each story is) that I can devour and finish on a workday where I only read on the bus, at lunch and a few hours at night, is something special.
I loved Rhenna Morgan’s EDEN series and beautiful and sexy covers that adorned them all, so I’m embarrassed to admit that while I purchased the HAVEN BROTHERHOOD books, they have sat on my bookshelf as the covers didn’t draw me in….yes, I’m a cover whore! But please, don’t let this deter YOU from starting this incredible series, as you are in for a treat.
The series begins with six strong, sexy and when needed, dangerous men from challenging and difficult backgrounds, who have formed a family of choice, rather than one of blood; and they love and protect those who inhabit their realm with their very life if necessary. There are other support characters I’m hoping Ms Morgan may choose to give their own story further on, but for now, it’s the six brothers, Jace, Axel, Zeke, Trevor, Beckett and Knox.
But, this is where my synopsis ends; for this review is not meant to reiterate what the author has provided in her description of each book, but to outline the depth of background and world building each book delivers and the intensity of character each and every person portrayed projects.
The Haven Brotherhood members are so much more than just handsome bad boys with a propensity for attracting trouble; they are hard working, honourable and loyal to a fault, but threaten those they call their own and all bets are off. Yes, they may occasionally cross what some would call acceptable lines, but in their determination to protect what’s theirs means nothing stands in their way, and innocents are always safeguarded. Sexy as hell, with danger and mayhem all around them, there are so many things to love about these exceptional men.
So, while some may think it is lazy not to write an separate review for each of these books, my purpose here is to tell you EVERY book is as good as the last and worth finding any spare minutes in your day and possible sleepless nights to consume each and every word.
Ms Morgan is an extraordinary author, but this is by far her best work to date; and while readers often say they hate to see a series end, his is one series that once the last book is written, will be read and reread, over and over again.
Thank you NetGalley for not making me wait until the June release of this fabulous book!
Once again a fantastic story by this author. I love the premise of the Brotherhood and each book just keeps getting better!
I appreciate how the author is able to bring not only the romance to the story, but a bit of suspense and usually some insight on the human condition. It makes her characters more vulnerable and believable. Of course, the steam factor is through the roof and the love shared between this "family" of brothers is amazing.
I can't wait to read more! Looking forward to the hot Scot for sure! Great book!
“Because your days of dreaming are over.”
Haaa,so dreamy! Beck and Gina are clearly into eachother but both are stubborn af and not willing to admit.. But one drunken night secrets and confessions spill out and it's the sweetest thing everrrrrr!
The fifth brother in the Men Of Haven series to get his story, Beckett, works in the security business. A contractor who works with his business Gia, a feisty, badass, southern women is the heroine of this story. Knowing the background of these two and having had glimpses of Gia and Beckett in Knox’s story I “thought” I knew what to expect with this story. Except I should learn when Rhenna is behind the keyboard to expect the unexpected! The depth and creativity of this story was so much more in so many ways. How she incorporated things like SPD, her knowledge around autos, and the Broad spectrum of the Haven world wove a beautiful story!
The story begins and we learn off the bat that during the three years these two have known each other a mutual attraction has simmered below the surface. Several tequila shots later, a little liquid courage has the two of them admitting it out loud for the first times. Not wanting to give in immediately Gia throws that sass around and makes Beckett work for it. The story progresses and we learn of potential threats as Gia try’s to land a high profile job. There is no way on gods green earth Beckett and his brothers would let Gia deal with this on her own.
This story was simply unputdownable, and I read it from start to finish in one sitting and have read it twice more since! It burned hot and loud, the heat was the perfect amount and it was an ending I didn’t see coming.
Rhenna Morgan has done it again with Stand & Deliver. She's given us a story filled with emotion and intensity, heart and passion. This story will make your heart clench then soar. Sit back and get punched in the gut by the sensation that is the Men of Haven.
I don't know why I was feeling uncertain when I started reading this but at the opening pages I was not sure if I'd like Gia or Beckett, and I was uncertain how I'd feel about the story. I should not have worried. Ms Morgan did not disappoint at all. Beckett and the Men of Haven were everything I have come to love. Their alpha maleness. Their unfailing loyalty. Their love of their family. Their willingness to go to bat for one of their own. It's all "melt Deanna into a puddle of goo" stuff. While I loved Beckett and enjoyed Mia, it's when the men are together doing what they do best that gets my heart pounding.
So Beckett. I adored Beckett. He was stunning. Demanding but gentle. Pushy but tender. Arrogant but protective. He's all the things I love in a hero. Beckett's been attracted to Gia for as long as he's known her. He's kept his distance because he's seen her shoot all the other men who've approached her down. But then he gets his opening and he swoops in, and he doesn't give up in the face of Gia's opposition. I loved his determination and doggedness, and sheer tenacity in the face of Gia's resistance. Seeing her down to her core and offering her the safety and protection she doesn't think she needs, along with the freedom to be herself. I gotta admit he's a little highhanded at times with the way he treats Gia but he does it to get past her barriers. Frankly, if he treated me the way he treated Gia, I would have caved inside of a minute. What woman doesn't love knowing she's cared for, protected, safe, and loved? I loved that he knew she was his from the start and he wasn't afraid to claim her, bring her into the fold of the family, and show her the kind of love and affection she's been missing.
**“I don’t play games at work. If you’re on the primary and calling the shots, I’ll have your back. That goes without question. Always.” This time it was both eyebrows that hopped high. “You mean that?” “Absolutely.” ... He held her face steady at one side and got nose to nose. He should have gentled his voice, but what came out was all him. The unvarnished raw man under his barely civilized veneer. “When we fuck you absolutely will not have the lead. Ever.”
**She already knew about the brotherhood and how tight they were as a family. Knew how they guarded each other’s backs and looked out for the women they loved. She’d just have to adjust to what it meant to be one of the ones being protected. No small feat given she spent her days looking out for other people. He’d have to talk with Sylvie and Ninette about that. Maybe see if they couldn’t work her from a female perspective and help her see being cared for wasn’t a bad thing.
You know the whole uncertain thing I mentioned earlier? It had a lot to do with Gia because she's such a ball buster. She's tough as nails and has struggled for years to gain the respect of her peers as a woman in a man's game. She's had to claw her way up through prejucide, sexism, and fighting the old boys network. Underneath her tenacity and her hard exterior though, she's feminine and all things girly. And her confidence comes at a cost. From fighting to gain the approval of her cold and demanding father to fighting her way into a man's world, and never letting her guard down. Beckett was a shock to her system. He offers a safe haven, a protection, and an affection she's never known in her life, and she has a hard time letting go and just being. I loved that Gia was mature, confident enough to know when to give in, and allowed herself to trust. She becomes even stronger under Beckett's care and the Haven family's unconditional acceptance. She may have started out strong at the beginning of the story, but her strength and self-worth was blinding by the end.
**“...You’ve helped my brothers and their women. You let go on this and let us return the favor, you’ll find another kind of freedom.” He kissed her forehead, stepped back and slid her coffee back in front of her. “You find the courage to face what I’m offering on both fronts, you’ll never be safer.”
**“That’s my girl.” A shudder moved through her, the simple, praising statement and the approval in his eyes eliciting warring responses she didn’t have a clue how to process. No one talked to her that way. She couldn’t let them. Couldn’t risk ceding control to anyone. And yet the delicious, deep velvet of his voice whispered across her skin. Pushed her physical response higher and dared her to try.
**“I was a lot like you, once upon a time.” She waggled her eyebrows. “Still am.” She studied Gia’s face. “The difference between now and then is I’m not alone anymore. I have family. I have strong sons with solid moral compasses who know what it means to protect and provide for the women they care about. I have strong daughters who can hold their ground when they need to and can give their men safe haven when it’s needed.” Her gaze drifted to Sylvie and her smile softened. “And I have a best friend who’s stood with me for longer than I probably deserve.” She looked back to Gia. “I told you when you were with us because I remember how hard it was to be strong and to try and come to grips with the fact that I didn’t have to be anymore. But I also told you when you were with us so you’d have absolutely no doubt.” She covered Gia’s hand and squeezed. “You’re not alone anymore either.”
With this book, I didn't want it to end because it was so delicious, but at the same time, I couldn't read it fast enough to see what happens. The ending was every bit as satisfying as I'd hoped. And now I have the next book to look forward to.
I've always held a bit of a torch for Beck, and been a little leery of Gia. Seeing them together has probably sent my love for Beck skyrocketing into crazy-lusty-stalker-lady territory, and Gia has sort of cooled to lukewarm. She's okay, and I know that there's lots of professional tough-guy ladies in the world with chips on their shoulders and Daddy issues who like to shoot things and wear the pants in relationships. -and that's cool- but it's not for me. And even the exceptional writing of Ms Morgan couldn't bring me around. I'd still take Beckett anyway, anyhow... but Gia could stay home.
Her character development shows a soft squidgy underbelly and a vulnerability that may make her palatable to other readers, but she just turned me off.
The power dynamic in bed however, was a huge turn on, Beck was dominant and yet careful of her emotional confusion, he took charge and basically laid siege - putting in time and effort for someone he, at least, found worthy. You have to admire that.
As usual, the other men of Haven, their ladies and mothers were fabulous and I LITERALLY CANNOT WAIT for AXELS STORY. Thanks!
This was a good read, it flowed very nicely! It's a group of hot security men and women who are harass and hot! Lol I'll definitely go back and read the others in this series as this was my first that I've read! I definitely recommend this book and series!! Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin carina press for sharing this book with me!
This book is amazing! It's hot, it shows strength and vulnerability, love and friendship, and what the word family truly means!
I loved this book and it's characters. They are fantastic and funny. The guys are all alpha males and the women are smart and sassy. That are all loyal!
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Holy bloody moly!!!! I have no clue how Rhenna Morgan does it, but each book is better than the previous and the previous was pretty freaking amazing!!!! Beckett and Gia were so utterly perfect for each other it was just incredible. The scene after dinner at her parents and then the one where she faces off with her father were complete perfection! The Men of Haven did it again. If you haven't tried this amazing series RUN to your computer and stock up on all her titles!!!
