Over 300 great recipes that have replaced more than one meal in my life :) I love quick and easy blender drinks to do for breakfast or a snack and there are some combinations in here I hadn't considered that are going to be favorites going forward.
Thank you so much, Quarto Publishing, for the opportunity to read this book early! When I received the email, I was thrilled because I knew that I would love this book. I didn't know how much though. This book will be my bible. I want to try every recipe in it. I have a lot of food intolerances, but I can easily switch ingredients for most of them. Can't wait to put my Vitamix to good use!!!
I bought myself a little power blender. It sits on my counter-top, its tiny footprint unobtrusive while its larger food-processer cousin languishes in a cupboard. ‘Power Blender Revolution’ is the perfect companion for it. Bright, clear photos; simple recipes. This is everyday stuff. Smoothies, juices, soups and dips – of course – but also ice-creams, nut milks and even beauty products. These power blenders crush ice, so why didn’t I think of using it to make slushies? And without the additives you’d rather your kids didn’t have.
On the downside, there’s a small section on ‘clean-eating’ and a juice ‘cleanse’ – fine if you believe in that stuff – I found I could easily ignore it.
Last week I discovered that the shop-bought hummus I’d intended to use was finished. Aha , I thought, I’ll make my own! Then I discovered I didn’t have any chickpeas (well-organised as ever) but I did have a carton of black beans. In a fraction of the time it’d take to go to the shop, I whipped up Simkins’ Spicy Black Bean Dip – and very nice it was too.
Thanks to Quarto / Harvard Common Press and Netgalley for this advanced reader copy.

I have a ninja blender set and make the basic smoothies. I wanted to find more things to use my blender for. I learned so much with this book. So many good tips, like the proper order to put food in the blender to blend properly. I spend a lot of time trying to blend my smoothies correctly. And the ideas and recipes I got were priceless. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has power blender.
Almost five years ago, I bought a Vitamix. I used to use it daily, making healthy smoothies for myself, but I never read or heard about different recipes until recently. When I read my goodreads friend Jennifer’s review for this book, I knew I wanted to read this and find some other ways to introduce some more creative and some more varied recipes. It’s more difficult to obtain quantities of fresh fruit, or even frozen depending upon where you live, but now that warmer days are approaching, I am looking forward to enjoying some fresh local fruit. After reading this book and looking at each and every recipe, most of which I was wishing I was sampling as I was reading the ingredients, I knew this was the incentive I needed.
With over 300 recipes, the sections include:
Power Blender 7-Day Clean Eating Plan
Power Blender 3-Day Juice and Smoothie Cleanse
Whole Food Juices
Smoothies, Shakes, and Slushies
Coffee Drinks, Matcha Drinks, and Creamers
Nut Milks and Other Nondairy Milks
James, Butters, and Syrups
Guacamoles, Hummuses, and Other Dips and Spreads
All-Purpose Sauces, Pestos, and Condiments
Dressings, Vinaigrettes, Marinades, and Spice Blends
Smoothie Bowls
Soups
Entrees From the Blender
Vegetables Sides
Muffins, Pancakes, and Other Quick Breads
Desserts From the Blender
Sorbets, Ice Creams, and Popsicles
Baby Food Purées
Masks, Washes and More for Your Skin: Body Wash, Face Wash, Body Scrub, Body Lotions, Exfoliation Masks, Skin Brightening Masks, Moisture Masks
There’s a balance of vegan and vegetarian and meat-based recipes. There’s also information on using your blender to grind meat, churn butter, and other things, depending on which blender you are using. I’m planning on buying a few copies of this, one for me, and the rest of my family.
Many thanks to my goodreads friend Jennifer, whose wonderful, and more detailed, review inspired me to read this. Please check out her review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The Power Blender Revolution has kept my VitaMix busy for the last week and will continue to keep it busy well into the future. I have used my blender for smoothies and occasionally for soup, but this book showed me how to use it for so much more.
This book has two sections to break the recipes into Part 1 Things to Drink and Part 2 Things to Eat. Each recipe starts with a brief introduction describing something about the recipe. The book is filled with vibrant pictures and each recipe notes if it is vegan, gluten free, dairy free, nut free, and/or low sugar to make it easier to use with any diet restrictions.
Some of my new favorite recipes (and these are just a sampling of the many recipes in this book) are:
Things to Drink:
Chapter 1 Whole Food Juices: Strawberry Pineapple Lemonade Juice, Cranberry Juice Crush, Simple Orange Juice, and Red Apple Juice. The apple juice is so much better than traditional store bough apple juice.
Chapter 2 Smoothie, Shakes, and Slushies: Berry Oat Breakfast Shake (who knew you could put oatmeal in a smoothie? The chapter also has recipes that include cashews, broccoli, and turmeric…) and Frozen Lemonade Slushie.
Chapter 3 Coffee Drinks, Matcha Drinks, and Creamers: this chapter wasn’t for me; I am not a fan of coffee.
Chapter 4 Nut Milks and Other Non-Dairy Milks: Cashew Milk, Chocolate Macadamia Milk, and several nut milks with fruit add-ins.
Things to Eat:
Chapter 5 Jams, Butters, and Syrups: Whipped Garlic Herb Butter and Chocolate Hazelnut Spread.
Chapter 6 Guacamoles, Hummuses, and Other Dips and Spreads: Caramelized Sweet Onion Dip, Simple Hummus (and all the hummus varieties), Spicy Cheese Guacamole, and Chicken Spread.
Chapter 7 All-Purpose Sauces, Pestos, and Condiments: Classic Ketchup, Cauliflower Alfredo Sauce, Arugula Lemon Pesto (this may be my favorite recipe in the whole book), and Vegan Sour Cream.
Chapter 8 Dressings, Vinaigrettes, Marinades, and Spice Blends: Strawberry Vinaigrette (the strawberries just add something amazing), Cilantro Lime Dressing (my new go-to salad dressing), Classic French Dressing, and Turmeric Ginger Vinaigrette.
Chapter 9 Smoothie Bowls: Peanut Butter Cup Smoothie Bowl and Lemon Crème Superfood Smoothie Bowl.
Chapter 10 Soups: (this is my favorite chapter…soup is so quick and easy in the blender!) Broccoli Cheddar Soup, Black Bean Soup, Spinach and Broccoli Soup, and Tomato, White Bean, and Basil Soup.
Chapter 11 Entrees from the Blender: Whole Wheat Margherita Pizza, Cauliflower Crust Pizza, and Mashed Chickpea Lettuce Wrap.
Chapter 12 Vegetable Sides: Classic Coleslaw (the blender makes shredding cabbage so easy!) and Cheese and Chive Cauliflower Mash.
Chapter 13 Muffins, Pancakes, and Other Quick Breads: Cheddar Biscuits, Classic Crepes, Broccoli and Cheese Frittata, Quinoa Flatbread Pita, and Pao de Queso Cheese Rolls.
Chapter 14 Desserts from the Blender: Peanut Butter Chocolates, No Bake Individual Cheesecakes, and Raw Strawberry Cheesecake.
Chapter 15: Sorbets, Ice Creams, and Popsicles: Strawberry Sorbet, Pineapple Whip Sorbet, Peach Ice Cream, and Double Chocolate Ice Cream (so easy and so good).
Chapter 16: Baby Food Purees: I don’t have a baby so I did not try any of the recipes in this chapter.
Chapter 17: Masks, Washes, and More for Your Skin: Avocado Oat Exfoliation Mask and Skin-Brightening Kiwi and Lemon Facial Mask.
The only downside to this book for me is I wish there were companion recipes. For instance there is a recipe for Green Enchilada Sauce, but no Enchilada recipe to go with it. I think that would have been a great addition to this book. However, I still feel that if you want to get the most out of your high powered blender, I suggest picking up this book!
Very thorough super blender cookbook with recipes for food, drink and even beauty products. Learn how to make milks, butters, soups, smoothies, desserts, sides, entrees, baby food purees and more. Great recipes, and a lot of them, with bright photographs and tips to get the most out of a power blender.
Author Vanessa Simkins has written a well-rounded cookbook that offers tips and recipes on how to get the most out of your high=speed high-power blender. You will find plenty of recipes and color photos in her cookbook called Power Blender Revolution. Some of the recipes you'll find include:
Dairy-Free Strawberry Milkshake
Coconut Creamer
Iced Caramel Frappe
Rice Milk
Cinnamon Apple Butter
Classic Ketchup
Sweet Vegan Ranch Dressing
Ginger Carrot Soup
Peach Ice Cream (Makes 2 cups perfect for serving up a sweet for a small group of diners)
Double Chocolate Ice Cream (Makes 1 cup perfect for dessert for two)
Sweet Potato Puree (baby food)
Honey Face Wash (a beauty item to cleanse the face)
Be aware you will find plenty of recipes that use nuts. If you have a nut allergy, you might want to borrow the book first to see if the recipes will work for you.
Recommend.
Review written after downloading a galley from Net Galley.
Great recipes for a variety of the machines, not just any one particular kind of power blender. Also, not just recipes for smoothies, or for a particular diet style in mind. This cookbook really lets you know all the various things you can do with your blender, reminding you it's not just for making drinks. There are spreads, dips, hummuses, soups, quick breads, etc. There's even a section on masks and washes you can use your power blender to make.
I'm eager to try all of the 300 recipes from this wonderful book! Very informative!
Blender talk. I bought my Vitamix six years ago. Ever since, I drink a green smoothie every day, and I’ve noticed I am sick far less often. I also notice if I skip a day because I’ll feel sluggish. I worship my Vitamix and have discovered it’s for so much more than just smoothies, as this book illustrates. Some recipes are marked vegan, and there are also vegetarian and meat-centered recipes.
Power Blender Revolution is a well-rounded instructional and recipe book for powerful blenders! I bolded each of the recipe sections below and highlighted some I can’t wait to try!
The Basics - cheeses, flours, etc. I love grating cheese in my blender because it’s quick and the clean-up is a breeze.
3 Day Juice and Smoothie Cleanses are outlined. It tells you what to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts based on recipes in the book.
Things to Drink/Whole Food Juices These are great if you have a juicer.
