A divorce party, your ex-husbands best friend, and a kiss.
For years Cash Hale has hidden his feelings for his best friends girl and kept a huge secret. When Callie finally decides to leave her cheating husband can Cash find the courage to tell her how he really feels?
After her divorce party and a little be of fun Cash takes her home. One kiss will unleash years of bottled up feelings. How steamy will it get? Time will tell if they can figure out how to shake it out of their system before things get too real.
Family expectations, business deals, trust and truth. Can Callie finally find the love she deserves?
I really enjoyed this book. Cash and Callie have a history going back to college. She met both him and her ex, Beau, at the same time and ended up marrying Beau and leaving Cash to silently pine for the girl that got away. Years later, Callie is going through a rough patch, with her marriage to Beau over and her future in question. Her parents want her to reconcile, but after Beau’s betrayal Callie won’t even consider it. Meanwhile, she and Cash start spending more time together, and the attraction between them grows. Cash is trying to be a good friend to Beau, but he is having a hard time fighting his feelings for the woman he has always secretly loved. There were a few bits that I thought were a little hard to believe, including Callie deciding to open a business and having immediate success. But all in all, it was a good read and Cash and Callie certainly heated up the pages. Recommended.
Cash has been in love with Callie for years, but she married Baeu, his best friend, and business partner.
Now they are divorced and she is back from her trip abroard, Callie and Cash start to spend more time together. But with her ex and parents against them, will they have a chance together.
A great read.
This book started off really strong. It was captivating and funny. The chemistry between Callie and Cash is undeniable. Cash has always loved Callie, however as Callie is Beau's ex-wife, he did nothing about it. Loyalty to Beau hasn't been easy, being Beau's best friend and business partner, Cash had to stand back and watch Beau marry and also cheat on Callie. Friendship blossomed between Cash and Callie, however that friendship turned into something more.
The best parts in this book in my opinion, is the start and the ending. The middle section is just lust and steamy encounters. There is not much of a storyline, Cash is conflicted and wants/fails to stay away. Callie wants to start her own business and is also conflicted. Beau is a horrible person throughout the book and then at the end becomes mister nice guy???
Character development - Callie discovers she is worth more than what her parents and Beau made of her. She becomes her own self.
- Beau is a horrible person throughout the book and then at the end becomes mister nice guy??? There was no development, yes he found out about Cash and Callie but he was okay with it. Doesn't make sense in my opinion.
Thank you entangled publishing and netgalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This charming story not only touches your heart but have you cheering for Callie and Cash. When Callie catches her husband cheating, she immediately goes for a divorce which prompts her best friends to have a divorce party. Cash has always had a thing for Callie but remained in the background. When the divorce was final, he and Callie's relationship blossomed and developed into something more. Will they get a chance for a happily ever after or will her ex make a play to win her back. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Kelly Jamieson brings us the sparkling gem an off ice romance that quickly caught my attention and was a totally engaging romance. I loved the story of Cash and Callie, Callie the now ex of Cash's best friend and business partner and a friend of Cash's as well. As Cash seeks to help Callie out after her return from a long trip to Europe putting her divorce behind her, the two grow closer as friends. Loved how Cash was so supportive of Callie's endeavors and her desire to build a business that was her passion. Callie struggles with her less than stellar wealthy parents who feel her new business is beneath her, but Cash is there supporting her all the way. Cash and Callie give in to the feelings that have for each other and break out the fans and cold showers for this one! Cash is caught between his loyalty with his best friend and business partner, a job with Callie's family's company they're trying to win and his growing feelings for Callie. I love how this story unfolded and the strength that Callie was as she held her ground with her family. Great story and I'd read it again.

I LOVED CALLIE AND CASH.
And let me just say I'm a big sucker for stories set in my hometown. I felt like I could hop in my car and go find Cash and Callie down in River Oaks and try to become their friend or get a job at CAKED. :)
Cash knows that Callie is off limits. Bro code and all, since Callie is his best friend's ex-wife. But Beau messed up when he cheated on Callie... plus it's been a year since they have separated and now with her divorce final, maybe he can let some of his pent upped feelings for Callie finally come free.
Cash and Callie were magnetic and so HOT. Callie needed someone like Cash in her life. Someone who believed in her and supported her. Cash has always been in love with Callie but stepped aside when his best friend started dating and later married her. The two of them coming together was like an explosion!
A great quick read that was originally part of an Anthology about the Sutherlands (Callie's family) Looking forward to reading more about this Texas family.
Callie has just gotten divorced from Beau, the man her parents loved who cheated on her. After returning from a prolonged trip to Europe, Callie's friends throw her a divorce party. Cash, Beau's best friend, shows up at the party. Cash had a long-time crush on Callie but never acted on it due to not wanting to lose his friendship with Beau. Now that Callie is free, Cash is wondering if it is time to act on his interest in Callie.
Callie has decided that it is time for her to act on her desire to be her own person and start up her bakery. She bakes beautiful wedding cakes and other goodies. As she builds her new business that her family highly disapproves of, Cash is there to help her every step of the way. While they are spending all of this time together, the attraction between the two blossoms. Due to the fact that Cash is still best friends and business partners with Beau, they can't do anything official (bro code and all) but that doesn't stop them from enjoying each other.
This was a good book. I liked Callie and her ambition to be her own person. I loved how Cash was so supportive of Callie. The internal war he struggled with as he tried to decide if he should be with Callie or be faithful to his friend was a large part of the story. At the end, I appreciated the fact that Cash finally realized what was most important.
Screwed was a feel good romance that was not only easy to read but sweet and enjoyable. And with little angst, a few hot moments, plenty of Texan charm and likable characters I was easily engaged throughout.
I would happily recommend.
I have read several of Ms. Jamieson’s novels now and this is one of my favorites. I love reading about a character the wants someone they feel they shouldn’t. Pick up this book, you won’t be sorry!
This book was pretty good. It definitely held my attention and I’ll be checking out the author’s other books.
A brilliant read with a brilliant storyline and characters and I will look forward to reading more from you from this author thank you for my arc
I loved this one. It just had so much heart. I had seen Kelly's books floating around with my romance reading buddies, so I scooped this one up when I saw it posted. I am so glad I did! Screwed may be my first read by her, but it most definitely won't be my last.
I did not know what to expect as this was the first time I had read a book by Kelly Jamieson and I promise you it won’t be the last. I generally go for the dark books but every now and then I need a little break from the brutality of the darker books. Screwed was just the break I needed it was heartwarming, sweet, and sexy read.
The character development was amazing as it seems as though you could live in the same world as them and be friends. I absolutely loved Callie and her amazing strength and will to succeed on her own. It was fun watching the banter and the playfulness between Callie and Cash play out. I devoured this title in one sitting and wanted so much more. I love it when a book ends and leaves you reeling and begging for more. Screwed did that for me. I will be on the lookout for more titles by this author.
This was a cute story, not your typical girl falls in love with ex's best friend. I loved that unlike those typical stories, it was the guy who had always been in love with his best friend's girl then wife then ex. I appreciated the battle he faced when he found out his best friend was cheating on her: do you stay local to your best friend or to the woman you've secretly been in love with but can never have? Oh and to top it all off, your best friend is also your business partner so if you screw up your friendship you may have screwed up your career as well. And of course you support your family with said career.
Cash has been in love with Callie since his best friend Beau first started dating her. Now Callie is divorced from Beau and Cash knows that he may jeopardize not only his friendship with Beau but also his business relationship with him. Regardless of how things with Beau may turn out, he can't stay away from Callie.
I have read several Kelly Jamieson books and this one definitely did not disappoint. I look forward to reading even more by this author.
Screwed was a quick but amazing read, it was a fun twist on a usual trope and delivered a story that not only sucked me in, but had me rooting for a win.
Cash and Callie are friends of a sort, they've known each other for years because of Callie's now ex-husband, Beau - who is not only Cash's friend, but also his business partner. And Cash is holding on to a secret - he's been in love with Callie for years - but it would never work, he knows he can never act on those feelings, even if Callie is divorced. But then things change when Callie is initiating things that bring those feelings to the forefront. Will Cash risk his professional future for his personal one?
I loved Callie's character, she's sweet, a little bit funny, and not one to take betrayal sitting down. Though she's not quite sure what to do with her life now that she's officially divorced, but she has been finding her own way and what makes her happy. I felt connected to Callie, as if we'd be good friends and I'd want to be around her.
I also enjoyed Cash and I especially liked watching as he fought himself against his feelings believing that he couldn't and shouldn't act on them. I really loved how Jamieson wrote his inner struggle as it came off as not only believable but brought the emotions to a deeper level.
Screwed was full of steamy moments, splashes of humor, and an intense chemistry between Callie and Cash. The story was compelling and left me unable to put my kindle down until I'd read the very last word - and then I wanted to go back in the story so I'd still have more.
I had exceptionally high hopes for this book as it featured one of my favorite tropes- hero pines for woman who can’t be his because she is already involved. When the story opens up Callie has been divorced for a year and her ex-husbands BFF and business partner, Cash had always had feelings for her. Except we don’t really get enough insite to how those feelings started and how he had to spend several years pining for her. I think I have several notes to myself in the book that say “stupid.”
Basically there wasn’t enough piney angstyness for me to believe in this set up. I typically really enjoy Jamieson’s voice, but this one was just off for me. It won’t stop me from reading her future books though.
Whoa--this forbidden love/starting over story blew me away!
I loved Callie and Cash's story. Talk about complicated--he's her ex's best friend and business partner, and their business is bidding on a project involving her family's company. Her very influential family's company--the family that still hasn't completely accepted the fact that her ex is actually ex. Callie's glad her marriage is over--she's been questioning if their relationship was ever really built on solid ground for some years now--and wants to finally do something with her life...but what? Her mother can't get over the fact that Callie isn't/doesn't want to be a society wife like she is, and when Callie does come up with a plan for her future--her family is less than supportive.
But Cash isn't. He's with her 100%. As their friendship grows into something more and Callie's business starts to take off, things get even more complicated. Does her ex still have feelings for her? Is this relationship a rebound one (or worse, revenge one) for Callie? Will Cash be able to be with Callie and keep his business partner?
Even more importantly--does the recipe for those cookie dough macrons really exist? ;)
Things aren't going to be easy for Callie and Cash, but reading about their story is truly delightful. I loved every minute of this book, even when the things they were doing or saying were breaking my heart--fortunately, their HEA made up for a whole lot. If you like somewhat angsty stories about having the courage to start over and finding the person you were meant to be with in live, then this is the book for you. Just don't read it when you're hungry--you have been warned. ;)
Rating: 4 stars / A
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book..
"Screwed" was definitely an appropriate name for this book, because both hero and heroine were stuck between a rock and hard place, when it came their romance.
Who?
• Callie, divorced from her cheating husband, Beau, and trying to find her "happy".
• Cash, Beau's best friend and business parter, who has harbored unrequited feelings for Callie
What?
After Callie returns from a post-divorce year of traveling, she begins spending more and more time with Cash. The more time they spend together, the more she learns about him, and the more attractive he becomes to her. Sparks fly between the two, but they need to determine if they are willing to risk friendship and career for their relationship.
Why?
I loved these two together. They had such a great rapport with each other, and their chemistry was undeniable. I was cheering for them to make this love match the whole time, because you can just tell they belonged together. Yes, they were attracted to one another, and had quite a few "passionate" encounters, but there was so much more to their relationship. The basis of their relationship was friendship and it was a strong one. I adored these two together, but they were pretty special apart too. Callie and Cash were both slightly damaged.
Callie's self esteem was really low. She always felt like she was not good enough. She spent her whole life trying to please her parents, but never making them happy. Then she entered into a marriage with someone, who needed other women to make him happy. She felt like a failure as a daughter and wife, so seeing her with Cash was so vital for me. He "saw" her, acknowledged all the wonderful parts of her, and supported her as she made her new life. Watching her change and heal over the course of this book really warmed my heart, and I couldn't believe how important her personal growth was to my happiness.
Cash never fully understood how his father could abandon his family. He buried these feelings, but when his father re-entered the picture, old hurts rose to the surface. It was Callie, who helped him through this tough time. She gave him advice, support, and listened to him. She reassured him that he was a person worthy of love, and he showed he was via his actions.
I am warning you right now, there is a lot of push-and-pull in this one. However, I felt like the payoff was worth all the aggravation, and as a bonus, there was a ton of cookies and cake.
Overall
A sweet, charming, and smile-inducing friends-to-more romance featuring a couple I couldn't stop rooting for.
