This the first novella in the Rogues Inc series provides the reader with entry to another world. I loved the Sinc character, her background was so detailed and well researched I felt as though I knew her; smiled and cried with her. A wonderfully well written piece of escapism that isn’t all the rose-coloured-glasses writing of some authors. There is a gritty element to this book that adds to the feel of the story.

Entertaining for any shifter lover, and anyone wanting to try the sub-genre of romance.

I was just introduced to author. Gayle Parness and her shifter world and I am hooked. I was introduced to her world by Gabe and Sinc in A Stubborn Heart, which is the first book in the Rogues Inc. series which includes characters from the Rogue Shifter and Triad series. The World is well developed and inviting with lots of strong, compelling characters that I really want to get to know better so I will be visiting the previous series as soon as possible. Gabe and Sinc were captivating and their story was full of romance, passion, chemistry and suspense.

Gabe and Sinc had a very troubling past, so their romance is full of emotional turmoil that pulls the reader into their story as they work hard to overcome the past and move forward, but the journey forward is no picnic either due to the circumstances that the couple must endure. Sinc is a solid character that draws empathy from the readers as well as she strives to stabilize her world since the explosion. Note – the explosion took place in a previous book but I had no problem catching on to what was going on.

This fast paced story is full of thrills and suspense that gets the heart pumping and hanging on to the edge of their seats as these characters have to deal with heart breaking and disappointing but also cathartic issues before they heal and start a new chapter in their life. (Beware that the way the issues are solved is quite violent but to me well deserved). The story jumps ahead a bit as changes to Gabe and Sinc’s lives progress toward a hopefully bright future which also adds to the depth and the overall full view of this couples journey toward their happily ever after.

I was completely enthralled with A Stubborn Heart and Gayle Parness’s shifter world which she painted such vivid images of that I was easily able to picture the scenes and I eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.
