A different kind of fairytale

While I know Tara Sivec tried to put a unique twist on well loved princess fairy tales this just didn't work for me. I thought Belle and her friends were immature. I didn't care for the disparaging way she treated Vincent. I didn't find the book humorous at all. Sadly, this was a miss for me.
I received an advance reader copy.

I love Tara Sivec writing style, is just so much fun.

And her version of Beauty and the Beast is hilarious. I loved.

Belle starts kind of naive, but it fits perfectly with her, and she evolves, a lot.

And the Beast is my favorite prince ever, so my opinion can be a little biased, but I adored Vincent.

Together they are just perfect.

Tara Sivec is a comedic genius. In Bed with the Beast was so funny and sweet! I loved the character development of both Belle and Vincent. Belle was such a quirky, fun character. Her random facts were so amusing. The storyline was entertaining and easy to read. It was the perfect blend of humor, heart, and romance. This is the second book in the Naughty Princess Club, but can be read as a standalone. I look forward to reading more in this series!

I’m nobody’s hero princess. And this isn’t a fairytale.”

Tara Sivec is on a roll with this series!!! I wasn’t disappointed with the first book and I sure as heck didn’t feel that way about this one. If anything, I think I fell in love with these characters even more if that’s possible. I’m beyond wrapped up in this fairytale and I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect ending for this one.

I’m going to keep this review short and sweet. I loved the premise of the story and I think that the author did a wonderful job staying true to her originality with her humor, full on wittiness, and likable characters. Belle was the awkward nerdy girl with glasses who unbeknownst to her, was a knockout. Her life was sheltered due to an overbearing father and lack of friends but now that she’s met two of the most incredible women and formed a sisterhood for life, she’s now come into her own. Well sort of.. What happens when she comes face to face with a beast of her own?

This was a wonderful addition to the Naughty princess club series and I can’t wait for Ariel’s book! That chick bypasses her medicine so I know we’re in for one heck of a ride with her. If you’re looking for a hilarious series with a fairytale theme, this one is most definitely for you.

When fairytales jump off the page into your everyday life, the magic will last a lifetime. This may just be my favorite Tara Sivec series yet and my deep seeded love of Beauty and the Beast has this book making all my beastly dreams come true.

This modern day twist on Belle and her Beast was sweet, sassy, and sexy. You wouldn’t think that a retelling of a story couldn't be original, but this one was. All the main players were there, yet a little different than you may remember. The Beast will melt your heart, while Belle dishes out facts and figures like it’s her second job. In Bed With the Beast, along with the other books in this series are everything I love about a romcom. A great story, tons of laughs, and lovable characters. Totally a five star read that I will be revisited often.

You might remember when I discovered the magical awesomeness that is Tara Sivec's Naughty Princess Club back in April. At the Stroke of Midnight was a fantastic introduction into this hilarious and sexy retelling. As soon as I finished it, I couldn't wait for the follow up, In Bed with the Beast, in which my favorite librarian and the grumpy security guard mix things up in a Beauty & the Beast retelling. I totally loved it.

Beauty & the Beast is one of my favorite fairy tales. I've always loved it. The grumpy hero, the awkward heroine, the freaking amazing library — I love it all. In fact, I think I've read more B&tB retellings than any other. None of them were quite like Tara's take, however. (Man, I love this series.) I'd basically fallen in love with Isabelle (and the other "naughty princesses") in the first book. I couldn't wait to see what happened when Isabelle broke from her shy, smart, awkward, sheltered Isabelle broke free and came into her own. It was everything I wanted and more.

Belle and Beast were the absolute best. I just adored their story. They had so much chemistry and complemented each other perfectly. I loved how protective he was of her. He might've been a giant beast of a man, but he was really sweet and swoony under all that exterior grump. The banter was amazing, the slow burn gave me life and the romance, overall, was just flat out wonderful. It's always a treat to watch a character I love figure out who they really are. That, when mixed with a smexy romance and literally laugh out loud moments, made In Bed with the Beast total perfection for me.

Now, I can chomp at the bit while I wait for Ariel to get her story. I REALLY need to know what's going on with all the animosity between her and Eric. Plus, Ariel delivers one-liners that have me basically busting a gut laughing so I'm positive her book will be amazing. I can't get my hands on it soon enough! If you're not reading this series, you're totally missing out.

FAVORITE QUOTES

I've lived my life in black and white, content with being the shy, quiet wallflower who does nothing but read, just waiting for something exciting to happen to me like it does for the heroines in my books.

"Boys in books do it better," Vincent reads aloud. "True story."
He takes a step towards me and leans forward, placing his hands on either side of the counter, caging me in.
"That's because they're boys. Maybe you should try a man."

"Dude, have you seen the size of him? Your first time can't be with a guy like that. He'd snap you in two, and you'd never want to have sex again. He wouldn't just pop your cherry, he'd make a cherry slush."

I guess fairy tales really do come true for a nerdy bookworm-turned-stripper.

In Bed with the Beast by Tara Sivec is the 2nd in the series, The Naughty Princess Club - a modern retelling of classic fairy tales with a twist.

This time around we have the story of Isabelle Reading, a shy bookworm who still lives in her fathers basement because all her extra funds are going towards trying to keep the public library where she works from closing their doors. When her father voices his opinion on her new friends and the fact that she is now running a stripping business, he kicks her out. Since she has nowhere else to go, she ends up spending her nights at the library. That is until Vincent "Beast" Adams finds this out and orders her to come home with him. He's willing to give her a place to stay on a few conditions - one of which being.. do not enter the locked room. Can Belle get to the softer side of Beast despite his unreasonable requests? Or will his short temper scare her away before anything can grow between them?

I love the type of humour that Tara Sivec is known for and she does not disappoint in this one. Some of the things that comes out of the mouths of these characters is pure gold! Such as this one...
"I just want to state for the record that I did not get a boner!" PJ shouts, not moving from his position in the chair. "Can you please make sure Beast knows I DID NOT GET A BONER?!"

Belle and Vincent were so good together. She doesn't put up with his crap! She starts off very sweet and innocent, but by the end of the novel she certainly doesn't stay that way! I still love all her random facts all the time. - Makes her really quirky. Also, I was grinning about where Beast is from and then Ariel's response to it when she finds out? Just the best.

Again, now I am waiting very impatiently for the next book in the series - this time it will be Ariel's turn!

My only issue with this novel.. is that the ending felt rushed. I totally get why it ended the way it did, but I just don't overly like it. So, I couldn't give it a full 5 stars like I did the previous novel in this series.

Rated 4.5/5 stars, rounded up to 5

I first fell in love with Tara Sivec's writing with the Chocolate Lovers series. And through the years we seen many different faces of Tara with suspense, contemporary romance and now back to comedic romance with a twist.

This time around we have comedy and modern day fairytales.

The friendship between these Ariel, Cindy and Isabelle (Belle) is hilarious. And now that Cindy has found her HEA we get to find one for Belle, the bookish innocent vixen.

Belle and her father are not seeing eye to eye, so Belle leaves the house since he doesn't understand their stripping business. Belle has no where to go but Beast whom we find out is really Vincent comes to her rescue with a home and also to help her learn to date.

Especially, since Ariel and Cindy are convinced Belle needs to date but Belle doesn't have a lot of experience. And the more she dates and lives with Vincent the more she learns he's so much more than the beast she thinks he is.

After many shenanigans, Belle finally gets her HEA. And now I can't wait for Ariel's story.

4.25⭐

This is the first book I've read by Tara Sivec, but I can definitely see myself reading more. As In Bed with the Beast was a sweet, charming, endearing and at times very funny story. That was also quite a little awkward and sexy. But great to read.

Plus, I thought it was a very intriguing and fresh twist on the old Beauty and the Beast fairy tale, and Vincent for me en captured the 'beast' perfectly. And I really enjoyed how he grew and changed as this story developed.

I also really liked Belle and her two friends Cindy and Ariel. As they were such fun, straight talking and entertaining characters. Yet they were all very different and that really shone through. And I never once felt like I was missing out on anything having not read Cindy's story first.

And I would happily recommend In Bed with the Beast to others.

Thank you Netgalley, St. Martin Press, and Tara Sivec for the chance to read this ARC book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a complete sucker for a Beauty and the Beast story and try to read as many as possible so when I saw this, I knew I just needed to read it and it was a great, smart, and fun read from beginning to end.
I loved the interactions between Isabelle "Belle" Reading (I know right?) and Vincent "The Beast" Adams (a combination of Disney's BATB and Vincent from "BATB" tv series maybe?) as they get to know each other and I loved that Sivec kept the Beast character on the growly and a bit on the surly.but it made for great dialogue and banter.that kept me reading all night until this was done!

I did enjoy the quick pacing of the book ass it lent itself nicely to the dialogue between the characters as Belle was not taking any attitude from the Beast, who was commanding while Ariel was in the background with her very vocal opinions which made me laugh out loud.

I can't wait to read the next installment, Tara!

3.5 A Spread Your Wings and Fly Stars
* * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
A Naughty take on Beauty and The Beast with an arrested development librarian fighting an over protective father for control of her own life She crosses paths with a big beast of a man who talks with few words and is the bouncer of a strip club. But still waters run deep and neither of these people are what the other assumes them to be.

This is the second entry to Naughty Princess Club series. It is based on 3 women who were either cheated on or betrayed, no longer married or in Belle's case a bit isolated. In the first book, they all had dressed up for a community event as Disney princesses and were mistaken as dancers for a bachelor's party. Big confusion, they ran out but not without meeting the man in charge of the local strip club. From watching how the strippers made so much money doing parties and such, these 3 women banded together and created the business Naughty Princess. One of the women found love with the strip club owner. All the women call the bouncer The Beast because of how huge he is and because he is kinda scary.

The story unfolds with Belle getting into a fight with her demanding father after returning from a party. She had to sneak out at 25 feeling like she was 13 fighting a curfew. The father trash talks her new friends and with that being the last straw, she packs up and leaves.

Belle doesn't want to bother her new friends because one is in love and "busy" with him while the other mentions she has a new roommate moving in, so there goes the possibility of her spare bedroom. The only answer for Belle is where she feels the most comfortable and at home any way... The Library.

Belle starts to live at the library... she sleeps on the hard floor with just a blanket and somehow she is making everything work the best she can. She loves the place and has been using the extra money with the new business venture with the girls to help keep it flourishing. The city has cut funding and she has been trying to cover the difference so all the children can continue to come.

Belle is tired and feeling exhausted. Sleeping at the library isn't all that and a bag of chips...it is hard on the body. She is at the desk, in walks The Beast! What is he doing here. He sits down and pulls out a book and starts reading it. It just seems so out of place for this mountain of a man to be right in front of her like that. He stays in the branch until closing and then leaves.

This keeps happening again and again...and soon they have a few very brief conversations. Each time the Beast asks to drive her home at closing and each time she turns him down saying she still has work to do.

Finally, the Beast let's it be known he is not having it. He is not allowing her to go home in the dead of night, he is not having her sleep in the library...WHAT!!! How did he know that...

It seems Beast knows a lot about Belle and has been watching when he can as to what she is not doing at night... She is not leaving at all. This is not right and he will make it stop. He decides to take matters into his own hands and confronts Belle.

Belle cannot breathe... Here is this man she really doesn't know a lot about and he is making her come with him to his house...out in the middle of no where. Belle actually is confused; her mind tells her she should be scared and not go... but her body and heart is telling her, he is someone unique and maybe caring in a way...he offering his spare bedroom for her to use.

This tale is full of slow burn between the Beast and Belle... and also includes the characters from the first book. There is learning how to strip and be sensual lessons for Belle as she feels she needs to pull her weight in the business. There is the possessiveness Beast feels for Belle and their learning about each other. There is also the sub-plot about funding for the library.

This is part of a series so there is another friend who needs to find her love match, too.

The next story in Tara Sivec’s Naughty Princess Cub is In Bed with the Beast, a new take on fairytales with a twist and lots of humor! This time around we get the story of shy Belle and her Beast. It was funny and cute and so much fun to read.

Isabelle Reading is looking to save the library she works for and move out of her dad’s house. But these were long term goals. So, when she finds herself out of her dad’s house before planned, she finds assistant in the last place she thought she would. Vincent, the bouncer at Charming’s comes to the rescue. I loved Belle, she was sweet, shy, caring, but I also loved seeing her come into herself.

Vincent, the beast, is helping Belle, but he is also moody and scary. When Belle moves in, he sets down rules and the biggest is staying away from the locked room. Yet Belle has always felt safe when she is with Vincent, but what is he hiding?

Belle is ready to take the next step in the business she shares with Ariel and Cindy. She wants to save the library but has only been running the business and administrative side of things. The more time they spend together, the closer they get. Vincent is taken by the sweet and nerdy librarian. But he is also hiding a part of himself. Can his secrets destroy what they are building?

I would highly suggest reading the series in order. Though each book is about a different couple, the stories build on friendship and love and are just fun to read. I l enjoyed In Bed with the Beast. It was a sweet slow burn that was funny and adorable.

Isabelle Reading is incredibly dedicated to her local library, where every day when she walks into work, she feels like she's coming home. But, with a financial burden threatening it's closure, Belle is left scrambling with new ways to make money for the library she loves so much.

With the start of her and her two best friends' new business, the Naughty Princess Club, she finally has a way to earn the amount of money that could possibly help... if only she could find the sexual confidence it would take to be a successful stripper...

Beast is a security guard at a strip club, and he wants nothing to do with strippers. But, with Belle in need of assistance, he finds she is the one woman he doesn't want to say no to...

When sweet Belle's work to become a vixen starts to pay off, the tenuous restraint that Beast has kept in check thus far is about to snap... too bad for him that Belle has never wanted Beast to be anything but himself...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Naughty Princess Club series is sexy, hilarious, and so freaking good, and "In Bed with the Beast" delivered with another amazing story...
Belle is tired of living under the roof of her overprotective father, and when she finds herself suddenly without a place to live, the most unlikely of saviors comes to her rescue.  With his offer to live with him until she gets on her feet, Belle begins a tentative friendship with the one and only Beast.
Beast is a secretive, man of VERY few words. A total alpha hottie, with every simplistic grunt, he worms his way deeper into Belle's heart. With her penchant for spouting random facts when she's nervous, and her sweet and innocent outlook where she believes in love, fairytales and happily ever after, Belle and Beast couldn't be any more opposite...
This book will have you laughing out loud and devouring every single page of this contemporary and extremely sexy spin on a storybook classic...
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Wow!!! Tara Sive has done it again! This series is amazing, I received book 1 as an ARC and fell in love with The Naughty Princesses from the beginning! 2 down and 1 to go!
Belle has always done what she was told. She wanted to be the perfect daughter, get good grades and never break the rules. However, she was alone. She didn’t have any friends other than the people she worked with or ran into at the library she ran. She was an adult living in her dad’s basement. Meeting Cindy & Ariel changed her life! I don’t want to spoil it, but I will say she broke out of her shell and started living her life the way she wanted. She will not let anyone tell her how to live her life anymore.
Beast walked right into her library everyday day for over a week an hour before closing. Belle was ready to join Cindy in their business but first she had to get some male interaction, to know what make them tick and most important what turned them on. For her the perfect person for the job was the one guy that rarely talked, growled and gave her butterflies....Beast! Her friends thought she was crazy but she know no one else would do a better job. She was going to do everything she could to get to know him. Everyone saw the beast from the outside but Belle saw right through. Saw him as the person her really is, and no his real name isn’t beast, but you will have to read the book to find out what it is ;)
A true fairy tale in real life! You definitely have to read book 1 before starting In Bed With The Beast, but I have to tell you this series is hilarious and perfect. Go preorder your copy now!!
In Bed with the Beast is the next fairy tale re-imagining by Tara Sivec. Belle hatches a plan to save her beloved library with some help from her friends and Vincent the "Beast". I really enjoyed this new adventure of Cindy, Ariel, and Belle.This hate to love romance was a great read with the same laughs as the previous book in the series. I loved the couple and all of their banter. I am looking forward to the next book. Thanks to St.Martin's Press for the ARC of this title via NetGalley.
I was looking for a quick, easy, somewhat mindless summer read and that's exactly what I got with this book. It was a cute story.
A fantastic romcom with a fairytale twist. I really enjoyed this book nerd taming her beast storyline. Belle is normally shy and soft spoken and throughout this story finds herself as well as her voice. Then there is Beast, alpha, sexy and swoon worthy. A match made in fairytales.
This modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast was a fun, quick read that mostly delivers what you're expecting with a few surprises to make it interesting. Here we get a Belle who, aside from being the shy librarian, is also...get ready...part owner of a stripping business. Unexpected, right?! Well, it's certainly a twist that brings with it some funny scenes as she interacts with her friends and fellow business partners, Ariel and Cindy (aka The Little Mermaid and Cinderella). Their friendship and humorous banter help the story move along fairly quickly and highlight three independent women who want to better their lives.
Vincent, our "Beast", is a broody, swoony prince, just as you'd expect. Together, these two have some challenges to overcome and some good chemistry to get them through it. They helped each other grow, Belle becoming more confident and Vincent opening up his heart, and I was happy to see that transformation in each of them.
I enjoyed the author's creativity as she includes the parts of the fairytale we all know in different and unexpected ways. I'm assuming this is difficult to do since the original story is loved by many. I must admit that I didn't read the first book in this series (as usual I didn't even realize that this was the second book in a series when I got it) but that didn't make the story confusing at all. This definitely can be read as a standalone book. If you love fairytales and fun rom-coms this might just be the story for you.
Was this review helpful?
This was a charming and funny love story. It had a bunch of little nods to the fairy tale, with a real life romance taking it's place. Oh and with a naughty twist. The Naughty Princess Club is definitely empowering these girls, and being able to find love while doing it is awesome.
Belle is finding her strength and sensuality in this book. She moves out of her dad's basement into Beast's lair. She goes on some EPICALLY horrible dates. She's so smart, always spouting random facts, and I love how she is when with her friends. Also her coworker at the library is hillarious.
Beast is gruff and grunty, strong and silent. She really brings out the best in him and I am so amused to everyone else's reaction to him, because reading from Belle's point of view makes you wonder why everyone else sees him the way they do.
I didn't read book one and wasn't lost, so this can be read as a stand alone. And like any good fairy tale, it has a happy ever after.
4 stars
I can't help myself with this series. Each time I start one, I expect it to be too Disney or too cute or too something and I think I approach them with an expectation that I will be disappointed. Yet, this is the second book in the series and the second time I have found myself enjoying all the things I thought were going to give me trouble.
I don't think I can count the number of times that I have seen the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast as my daughter LOVED the movie. I know it by heart and I found that as I was reading, those echoes of the Disney moved were wonderfully placed and not over done. I found myself smiling at how well Sivec included those references. She was able to pull out the elements of Belle's movie character while giving her her own personality for this book series.
In all, I found it to be a very pleasant read. A great distraction from the every day.
