As always, Catherine Coulter delivers. Her latest Savich and Sherlock thriller find the pair facing a very personal threat. Balancing safety of their young son, Sean, with the realization that he is reaching the time when he will begin to grasp what his parents do, the duo hunt down a savage killer linked the their past in a way many wouldn't believe. Sheer grit and determination, plus a bit of help from MAX, bring them closer to solving the puzzle of the murder of an attorney and foiled kidnapping of Sean.
As usual Catherine Coulter has given us a thriller I couldn’t put down until my brain would not cooperate any longer and I fell asleep, dropping my Kindle on my face. This latest FBI thriller opens with an attempted kidnapping of Savich and Sherlock’s son Sean. Meanwhile in Willicott MD, Chief of Police Ty Christie witnesses a murder on the lake in front of her house. While dragging the lake for the victim hundreds of bones are found along with a gold Star of David belt buckle. Are these things somehow connected and if so, how? Ms Coulter does not disappoint as she weaves her tale with many twists and turns and much suspense. I figured things out at the same time the characters did. As usual she ties up everything quite nicely but leaves us wanting more Savich and Sherlock. I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this awesome book.
Paradox by Catherine Coulter, book 22 in the FBI Thriller series. A long time favorite series of mine, Catherine Coulter never disappoints me with her Savich and Sherlock series. I always look forward to reading what suspense this couple get involved in. Great character new and old, intriguing storyline and so much more. As always look forward to reading more books by this author.
Two of my favorite Coulter characters, Savich and Sherlock, are back again. This time someone is threatening their young son, Sean. Sherlock awakens in the middle of the night and finds someone standing over Sean's bed with a knife. He escapes before she can get to him. At the same time, a police chief witnesses a murder out on a lake in front of her home. She yells to the killer but of course, the killer escapes. The body is found and identified as a criminal defense lawyer who FBI team knows well, but that is not the only body found in the lake.
Savich and Sherlock are tasked to assist with the investigation, and their suspect is identified as a young man whom the murder victim had defended.. So Savich and Sherlock attempt to protect their son and to catch a killer. There are other things going on in the small town and all come to a stunning conclusion as only Catherine Coulter can reveal. Catherine Coulter never disappoints her readers and this is just another in a long line of wonderful reads!
As always, Catherine Coulter brings us an intensely paced and peopled mystery that keeps you turning pages till the very end. #22 in the FBI Thrillers is as captivating as is every other one, and if you aren't reading that series, this is as good a place as any to start. Coulter series book are all stand alone pieces of an overall big picture.
That said, Savich and Sherlock are three dimensional characters with lots of common sense and the odd special gift or two that keep them exciting. Sala is a wounded soul, but beginning to see the light. And Ty is a very interesting lady, one I am glad to 'know'. This was a mystery fully hidden until mid-book and complex enough to keep you reading until the very end. This is a modern novel, author and series I am happy to recommend to friends and family.
I received a free electronic copy of this novel from Netgalley, Catherine Coulter, and Gallery Books in exchange for an honest review. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with me.
I have a love/hate relationship with this series - it used to be one of my favorites but the past five or so books have not been very good. I'm honestly not sure why I keep trying but I do because I still remember when I looked forward to every summer and the release of a new book. This one was just predictable - I think the series needs to move on. The same little details keep being re-tread and I felt like this book was super similar to prior books. Sherlock and Savich were in fine form but it wasn't enough to save this book.
Paradox comes out TODAY on July 31, 2018, and you can purchase HERE. Hopefully you have better luck with this one than I did!
FBI Thriller #22, One of the on going series I love. Savich and Sherlock are two of my favorite characters. In the past these books were more Romantic Suspense but now the romance has pulled back and let the suspense/thriller aspect take precedence, which is fine because she's really good at that. Once again we deal with two distinct storylines working in tandem. Savich gets called down to a quiet little town in Maryland when the Chief of Police, Ty Christie, witness a murder out on the lake in the early morning hours and the rowboat that the murder was committed on was rented out to a friend and fellow FBI, Special Agent Sala Porto. In the search for the murder victim they also uncover bones that have been at the bottom of the lake for years. Savich and Sherlock discover that an old enemy connects them to the murdered woman in Maryland, while they deal with tracking this insane person Sala and Ty try to figure the origin of the bones.
I really did enjoy this one the going back and forth between the stories and the characters it flowed pretty easily. Both stories were exciting, intriguing, and really good reading. I love Catherine Coulter's writing style, I wouldn't have read all 22 books in the series if I didn't, the characters are easy to connect with and empathize with Sala and Ty have the start of a romance but it is not the main focus of the story. I hope we can see more of Leigh "Gunny" in the future she was a special character I liked her. Overall this was a great read, out Coulter's recent books in the series this is a favorite.
A fantastic read, Catherine Coulter writing about Sherlock and Savich ! Love that couple. Someone wants to kidnap their son, there is a murder and old bones are found, what would happen next? A must read, once you start you will not want to put it down!
A body in the lake. An old dump site filled with bones. Can these cases be connected? How can they not be? Strap
yourself in for a roller coaster thrill ride.
Paradox by Catherine Coulter
Book 22. This FBI series has gone to the paranormal a bit.
Two tiered story. The first is close to the family: someone tried to kidnap their child. The second story: skull and bones found in the lake. Dredging uncovers enough bones for dozens of people. The stories proceed following these two events twining together and merging at the end.
After 22 books it’s become a bit of a standard formula. This one was better than the prior, but I’m not sure how much longer I’ll stick. It’s endearing watching Sean grow up and cute with his future wives. The mystery solving is good but becomes predictable now that Savich can see things beyond the norm. And the author still switches from last name to first and back that sometimes causes a pause.
An enjoyable read. The story weaving together is done well.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.
Another book from one of my favorite series that did not disappoint. Twists and turns, never knowing who you can and cannot trust. Great read!
This time it’s personal for Sherlock and Savich in Paradox, the latest book in the FBI Thriller series.
Sherlock and Savich awake to an attempted kidnapping of their five-year-old son, Sean. Concurrently, Chief Ty witnesses a murder on a lake. When the lake is dragged for the victim, many old bones are found along with the new body. A old belt buckle is found with the victims that links the case to another in Sherlock and Savich’s history. The three stories intertwine as the plot plays out.
Regardless of which series I’m reading, Catherine Coulter never fails to keep me entertained. Even in the 22nd book in this series, the suspense is kept at a fever pace. Paradox begins with a breathless adrenaline rush and finishes with a twisty but not ultimately surprising finale. I liked Enigma, the immediately prior book in the series, more (review here) than this one but that was because of the science in that book. Still this book is highly recommended for thriller fans. 4 stars!
Thanks to the publisher, Gallery Books, and NetGalley for an advanced copy.
If you are familiar with Coulter's work and characters this is another great novel that will keep you engaged and interested with its numerous plot twists and mysteries. The setting is great and her descriptions are the usual evocative and fascinating, along with numerous personality conflicts that moves the story along. Highly recommended, even for readers new to this series.
I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion. I have most of Catherines books and she has yet to disappoint, this novel is classic Catherine Coulter and may just be one of my favorites so far. one The story is face paced and exciting. Savich and Sherlock are being terrorized by from a nemesis from their past. The intent is to inflict as much pain as possible, their family in tatters. There is a side story involving Chief Ty Christie who witnesses a murder across the lake from her home. So many twists and turns in this story, keeps you totally captivated, which is her style. The characters are fun and well developed and easy to love. The book was hard to put down and I would say a must read.
Oh, the twists and turns and this one was soooooo good! Savich and Sherlock have a young son who is targeted and the book starts off with a break-in at their residence and they find the kidnapper standing over their son's bed. He gets away but this is the start of many twists and turns. Chief Ty Christie witnesses a murder and body dump into the lake across from her cottage while drinking her morning coffee and when the body is brought up, more bones and a belt buckle is found. More twists and turns...In true Savich and Sherlock fashion we are treated to lots of intrigue and suspense but even more, great characters. This was truly one of the best in this series! This is not a short book buts it didn't take long to read because I could not put it down.
**Received this ARC for review from the publisher via NetGalley**
This was a great addition to the series. I have read this series completely out of order and wasn't lost at all. I stayed up late to discover whodunit, and was completely surprised. Definitely recommend the FBI thriller series.
In this 22nd book of author Catherine Coulter’s FBI series, “Paradox" features multiple storylines that are equally gripping and suspenseful. Featuring fan favorites, Sherlock and Savich, these recurring characters inject a personal element into each and every story, and “Paradox” is no exception. Having read this book from cover to cover in just one sitting, this story is definitely one of my top favorites of this year.
The otherwise serene setting of Lake Massey in Willicott, Maryland, quickly becomes a crime scene of epic proportions, when Chief Ty Christie witnesses a murder from the deck of her cottage, only to unearth a psychopath’s dumping ground in that very same lake. Added to the mix is the failed kidnapping of Sherlock and Savich’s son, which yields an unexpected connection to the murder that was witnessed by Chief Christie in the first place.
Spinning an intricate web of suspense and intrigue, Catherine Coulter snags the reader right from the very start. The premise is compelling and the characters are well-developed and likeable. While I have only read a few of the books in this particular series, I find myself wanting to go back and further explore all the ones that came prior.
Whether you are new to this series or just discovering it for the very first time, "Paradox" is one suspense novel you won't want to miss out on!
Paradox by Catherine Coulter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is book 22 in the FBI Thriller series but it was easy to read as a standalone. While there were mentions of previous cases they did not impact the flow of this mystery. I enjoyed the story even though I knew who and what long before most of the mystery was revealed in the book. A lot of my enjoyment was generated as I got to know the characters and how they reacted to the plot. A nice series and a easy to read story.
I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.
This is my first book that I have read by Catherine Coulter. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I liked the multiple mysteries of the novel. I plan on starting from the beginning of the series I really enjoyed the way Savich and Sherlock worked so well as a team, now I'm curious to see how there partnership started.
Paradox was an excellent book! While I have most (if not all) of Catherine Coulter's books, I am way partial to the FBI Thrillers. In fact, Savage and Sherlock have come to feel like family over the years. This time their young son, Sean, is threatened, and they have to find a killer before he (or one of them) becomes a victim. I couldn't put it down!
