This is a story of divorce and how it affects the children.
How a mother’s betrayal changes a child’s beliefs.
Great story a must read.
Thank you for providing a copy of this book for review however I was unable to open the file for this document unfortunately! Apologies.
The Definition of Fflur is an emotional coming of age story that has an addicting quality and a fair bit of angst. I really loved this character driven story.
Fflur’s life gets turned upside down as a teenager when her parents divorce. She and her brother Rhys start spending every other week with their dad, and the other with their mom, along with her new beau Max and his son Galen. Galen and Fflur have an instant connection. Once they get over the awkwardness of their situation, they become fast friends. Galen is a little older than Fflur, but they are a pair. I loved some of the scenes when they were younger, watching their friendship build. It was one of my favorite things about the book.
As they get older, things get more complicated. The feelings of friendship they’ve always had turn into more. It’s always been more right there beneath the surface. When those feelings come out, it’s confusing for them both in different ways.
A romance between Fflur and Galen would be forbidden in more ways than you’re aware at the start. But they can’t help the feelings between them. Instead of giving in to them, Galen starts to distance himself. As his music takes off, Fflur starts college and they start to grow apart. A tragedy in their family will bring them back together.
The romance element of this book wasn’t my favorite part, it was the friendship and the family ties. Families come in all shapes and sizes and I loved this family. There were a few things about Galen and Fflur’s romance I wasn’t crazy about, which is why this wasn’t a 5 star read for me, but overall I still really enjoyed the book! I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

This book started off really well and it really made your heart for Fflur. It was almost a coming of age story in my opinion. The emotions placed in this book due to divorce, unrequited love and sibling rivalry and friendship are all well done. The rest of the twists and turns don’t work for me. Oddly I have lived almost all the other twists (except the final one) and it was just too much. There was too much going on in this book. Galen becomes the friend she never wanted but they became thick as thieves as children. This book is long so it does not lack in character development and can be considered a taboo romance. There was soooo much angst it hurt my face ha-ha. This book was filled with parts that just confused me in terms of characters <spoiler> Galen became gay because he didn’t want to sleep with any other woman? Galen didn’t tell Fflur they were biologically related until after the sex stuff? maybe I hated Galen and the wall Fflur didn’t even care about any of it </spoiler> I will say the author has a lovely writing style and you really felt you were connected to the story in general there was just moments I didn’t care for. I won’t ruin the TON of other twists in the book because you should be surprised
This was really good. I concur with the other reviews too, it’s a beautiful story. It was also a wee bit emotional too. I had no clue what the story was about when I clicked on it. It was a pure cover love click and I’ve never read anything by this author before. Fflur and Galen have a unique story. Young love and bad timing. But they both held on and fought for their love. I was really drawn into the story, I didn’t want to put it down. I’ll for sure check out the authors other books. I really like her writing.
3,5 STARS
An interesting and unique story! It's not a simple story so if you are looking for something refreshing I would say you have to read it!It is a complex and raw story! At the same time it was emotional and also I was frustrated a lot with some behaviors and this make me not give it 5 stars as I was planning at the beginning!
I really enjoyed this book. A little angsty. Loved the characters. It was a sweet story.
Thanks for the arc Netgalley
This book was just okay for me. The writing was fantastic, almost lyrical, and I definitely highlighted a lot of great lines about life, but I had some trouble really getting into the story. I found it was hard to figure out the time, because it was jumping around so fast. I have no idea how old Fflur was for most of the first part of the book. Also, I really could not connect with Fflur. She was maybe just a bit too odd for me. I did learn a lot about flowers though, so there's that! I did like Galen's character a lot. But, overall, I just couldn't connect with the main character, and personally, it was just really hard to get into the story. I don't think anything is wrong with the book; it just didn't work for me.
"Sometimes flowers grown in cracks. Some people call them weeds. I don't. They're the strong ones. The resilient ones. The ones who survive anything."
This book is hard for me to review, because I liked it but did not love it. I felt at times it was just to darn out but the over all story was sweet with a good punch of angst.
A wonderfully written heartfelt story of love, loss and new beginnings. What starts out as families breaking apart and changing brings a love story of 3 couples. The main couple being flower and Galen. It’s an emotional story that leaves you at a loss of words, Empty and hollow and hoping and praying for more. ES carter has a knack of interweaving her stories into a masterpiece- and this is no exception. Bravo!
A unique and beautifully crafted tale of Fflur—a quirky young girl—and her broken family.
Betrayal, forgiveness, love, loss, all wrapped up in an emotional journey filled with depth and uniqueness.
A story I won't forget for a very long time.
Fflur, Galen and their family will stay with me.
The writing was masterful and effortless and the story captivating from the first page.
I highly recommend.

This was a great and emotional read with a bit of forbidden romance touch to it. I enjoyed the characters a lot. They are definitely easy to love and hard to hate. This book has a touch of drama, a few surprises, it deals with loss, love, forgiveness, acceptance and following your heart. I enjoyed this book a lot and I definitely look forward to reading more books from this author in the future. This was a great standalone read that's worth reading.
