I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Stacey Kennedy is one of my favorite authors and I enjoyed this book being set on a ranch. Emma’s grams passed away and she inherited her house and animals in Colorado. Emma had suffered some personal problems with her boyfriend/boss when he didn’t announce they were together. It also looked like her promotion was because they were sleeping together, not based on her merits. Emma left her home and job in NYC for River Rock, CO where she started working in a bar, the Kinky Spur. She meets Shep Blackshaw and inially has trouble trusting him. As the story progresses, Shep helps Emma learn how to care for the animals as well as becoming important to each other. They also discover they enjoy their sexual escapades. Also, the Blackshaw patriarch has recently died and they’ve discovered they are nearly bankrupt and have to devise a plan. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the storyline as well as the characters. I look forward to the next book. Definitely another 5 star winning book.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I have to admit that this story surprised me. I thought this might be one note and I worried that I would not be engaged. I was wrong. This was a story that flowed from the beginning and had a continuous flow that left you wanting more.
Emma moves to her grandma's home after she learns she has passed away. The timing was perfect since she had recently broken up with her boyfriend. While nursing a broken heart, she meets her neighbor, Shep, and he's got eyes on her.
Emma is injured while trying to care for a horse on her farm. She discovers her and makes it his mission to get her back to health. She is beginning to have feelings for him as they spend more time together and is terrified of losing her heart to him since her broken heart is on the mend. Shep is also balancing his feelings for Emma and the current status of his family ranch. He has some big decision s to make that will have a huge impact on his future.
I liked this story and am looking forward to the next installment, the first book introduced us to many characters with enough interest to want more.
Great author. Great story. Not what I expected but it sure had a wonderful, flow to it. The two main characters I just adored. Swoon worthy cowboy that’s a certainty in this book. I need more cowboys please
I would round this up to 3.5 stars. I was a little unsure in the beginning but the more I read it, the more I enjoyed it. I think I liked Shep though more than Emma. He was a strong hero who knew what he wanted and she didn't.
Emma Monroe has returned to her hometown after the death of her grandmother. As she tries to get into the rhythm of life on her grandmother's farm full of abused animals and work part time at a local bar, the last thing she needs is a relationship.
Shep is a cowboy who is trying to save his father's farm. When he meets Emma, sparks fly. Will they be able to stay apart so they can do what they need to do to save their respective farms? Should they deny the fire between them? This very enjoyable novel will keep you guessing until the end!
Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this novel for review.
Emma is back in Colorado after her grandmother passes away and leaves her the farm. She is trying to save his father’s ranch from foreclosure. Their chemistry is steamy but neither is looking for a relationship, can they keep it just casual? This is a fast-paced read with great characters and a lot of steam. I really liked it!
3.5 stars
Fun story that shows that sexual attraction CAN lead to more. Emma and Shep both fight the relationship and the attraction but their feelings win out in the end.
I'm not quite finished reading this one but so far so good!
Steamy as all get out and a great story!
How could I not have picked this to read with a title like this? I couldn't, right!!! I'm always looking for a good cowboy story to read and this one fit the bill.
I've only read a few books by Stacey Kennedy but I enjoyed what I read so when this new series came up I knew I had to try it and I'm so glad that I did. I really enjoyed it.
The characters are wonderful and you want to know more about them and their lives. Something I want in my romance. Nothing worse then unlikable characters. Okay, it's alright to not like a character that's not the main characters, those you need to like.
My heart melts for animals so what her grandma did for animals made me tear up. A place for them to go after life treated them so badly. Kudos to her.
You are really going to enjoy Emma and Shep together. They work even if they don't realize it right away. I was fun watching them figure it out.
Dirty-Talking Cowboy has everything I like in my romance, good characters, tons of hot romance and big hearts. It's also well-written and makes you want more of this group. Did I mention that Shep has brothers? This is the perfect time read Dirty-Talking Cowboy with it being hot out no one will notice when you sweat!
With so much going on in her life right now Emma is not looking for love but one night and one cowboy changes everything. When she meets Shep her feelings start to change, could this cowboy be what she needs to move on and find a better future or will the past hold her back?
I enjoyed Shep and Emma's story. Love and trust are big issues in this book. Emotions are high and the chemistry is strong. Not only do the main characters have their say but the secondary ones make themselves known as well. It was nice to see the relationship grow into something more between Shep and Emma. as the two figure out just what they want life throws in a curveball. It was nice to see Emma and Shep find their way against the odds. The author does a nice job of bringing these characters and their world to life making this a good addition to this series.
Emma is on a big crossroad in her life, her grandmother dies and she inherits her farm with wounded animals, her career is under question and she is left heartbroken. Until she finds all the answers she works in a Kinky Spurs as a bartender. And there she met him Shep sexy as sin cowboy which makes her blood boil and speeds her heartbeat. But she doesn't want another mistake but an accident with horse draws them together. Shep is letting for a long time women in his life. In a way, they heal each other but all lover comes back and who will Emma choose? I liked the story and both characters were great and well developed. Also, the chemistry was hot and explosive. And as we see this book great start of the series, two remaining brothers must also fall in love.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly.
While this book did live up to its title, I just got a bit hung up on Emma and he inability to move past Jake. Jake is gone and she must move on, however it seemed to take forever for her to realize this. Shep is treating her as gentle as the broken horse that is out in the barn. I'm sure he wanted Emma to move forward with her life too. Shep might have fallen for Emma quickly but he knew that he needed to go slow and that was the only drawback to this book. Kinky Spurs sounds like such a fun bar and the fun way Shep roped Emma into seeing if the sparks would fly between them was flirty and hot.
The story flowed beautifully that I just ate up every page as quickly as I could. The attraction and sparks between the characters where just jumped off the pages right at me while I read their story, their banter was also spot on and made for a extremely entertaining read. It was captivating and interesting that I just didn’t want this book to end. I would absolutely recommend this book to all book lovers out there
I love me a dirty talking cowboy! I mean, who doesn't, amirite? Anywho, Shep is definitely a dirty talker. But he's also extremely sweet and mature and alpha and just a great guy! He has some of the best lines while he is trying to handle Bentley. Well and Emma. But Emma and Shep's relationship is HOT to begin with, from page 1 you just feel the heat and the tension and the flirting just bursting through their conversations.
I think that Emma and Shep needed each other. While I don't think women need "handling" per se, I think Emma needed the quiet strength and gentle determination (and ardent at times!) to help her get over what drove her to River Rock.
The Blackshaw family is a fun one and I absolutely love their dynamic! Shep is the responsible one while Nash and Chase are less so. I know they're going to have some interesting stories, just based on the peeks into their lives in this story!
ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
DIRTY-TALKING COWBOY is the first book in Stacey Kennedy's Kinky Spurs series. I love this book! There are spicy scenes galore in DIRTY- TALKING COWBOY, but this book has a lot more to rave about. What starts out as an erotic tale of two strangers locking eyes across a crowded bar, turns into a multilayered and fascinating character-driven romance with a small-town feel. Family and trust are two major themes in DIRTY-TALKING COWBOY, and Stacey Kennedy weaves both into an enjoyable story.
Emma Monroe is taking a hiatus from her big city, corporate lifestyle. Things colossally take a wrong turn for her when the man she thought she loved betrayed her. Although the betrayal didn't involve any cheating, the consequences were just as devastating and have left Emma questioning everything, especially her own judgment. While emotionally fragile in some ways, Emma is taking control of her life by taking care of her late grandmother's farm and working in the local bar, Kinky Spurs. The last thing Emma is looking for is a romantic relationship. Shep Blackshaw is a cowboy hottie and force of nature who provides the stability and affection that Emma needs most as she sorts through her recent upheaval. I love both characters, and the chemistry between them is off the charts. Stacey Kennedy is able to convey an emotional resonance along with a deeply erotic connection.
DIRTY-TALKING COWBOY is one of the best contemporary romances I've read this year. Kennedy does a superb writing multifaceted, fully fleshed out characters with plenty of depth. There are no stock characters or predictable reactions in DIRTY-TALKING COWBOY. The side story involving Emma's adopted horse is a nice metaphor for the effort Shep takes to gain Emma's trust. The supporting characters, who include Shep's equally hot brothers and Emma's girlfriends, are interesting and I look forward to reading their stories. I can't wait for the next book in this series!
A fun, sexy read that was highly engaging. Perfect when you're looking for a nice break from reality.
Dirty, Sexy and Hot, book 1 in the Kinky Spurs series, Dirty Talking Cowboy is one delicious read. The first of three Blackshaw brothers; Shep is the true romantic, who know who’s heart he wants to win. Stacey Kennedy has a way with words that make you sink deep within the pages and barley coming up for air. This is a well written story with a great plot and characters. I can’t wait to read more about these brothers and how they find their forever loves.
Emma Monroe has left her great job, her boyfriend, and the glamorous life of New York City and is now living in River Rock Colorado, and working part time as a bar tender at the kinky spurs bar. After finally meeting the sexy cowboy Shep Blackhshaw, things begin to heat up for her and between them. This becomes more apparent the next day when he saves her from a runaway horse and the dream she had she tells him in the ambulance. After being released from the hospital the heat between the two of them becomes hotter every day. Meanwhile Shep is dealing with issues from his father passing away and now running the ranch along with his two brothers. He also wants to get to know Emma better. The more time the two of them spend together she is becoming more confused in what she should. Weather to stay or move back to New York. The sex scenes between the two of them are hot and you want them to be together, when her ex shows up. What is she to do? Especially when Shep finds out and returns back to her ranch… What drama, let me tell you a very good story and one you most certainly want to read to find out what happens? A story with good bedroom and outdoor scenes along with good characters. A very good read.
For being advertised as kinky, this book fell a little flat. Both the romance and the chemistry between Shep and Emma seemed a little unnatural and forced. It was a quick read.
Hot sexy cowboy story. Emma is not looking for romance but along comes Shep. It's a kinky hot romance. Well-written and likable characters.
