On the day Emma learns of her Gram’s death, she also learns that the man who she believed to be her forever was not going to stand up for her. Leaving New York for a small town in Colorado, she takes over her grandmother’s farm. She has a lot of healing to do to get beyond the broken trust her ex left her with. She was not expecting to get tied up by a cowboy at Kinky Spurs.
Shep was hot to rope Emma in from the first time he saw her. When the opportunity presents itself, he grabs the reins and holds on. He’s got a lot on his plate these days after his father’s death and running his own business. Shep is a fixer and he’s determined he’s going to fix the problems that the Blackshaw Brothers have just learned about. And if she’ll let him, he’d like to help fix Emma’s problems as well.
This was a great cowboy story with plenty of interactions with horses as well as some other livestock curtesy of Emma’s Gram. I loved the way Shep stepped up to help Emma when she was in a little over her head. He has had his own heart broken and he is so patient and kind while he waits for Emma to find her way to him.
This is very well written and deeper than I originally expected it to be. While there is plenty of humor, at the core of this story is the love of family and learning to rebuild trust within yourself. Emma’s transition from fear of her own choices to determination to be what Shep needs in his woman was heartfelt.
There are secondary characters all over the place that I suspect will be getting their own stories and after reading this first installment in the series I’m curious to see how the rest is going to play out. This is my first book by this author and I am looking forward to reading more from her.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and St. Martin's Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
When Shep and Emma are together is fan yourself worthy. Shep is mega intense, focused and demanding but what really makes him special is that he is very centered. Knows the right way to handle and fix problems, even when it is not in his favor or requires a lot of patience and restrained from him. Emma is a bit lost, guarded and hurt when meeting him, but soon he starts teaching her a different kind of man. One that she deserves, one that will put her first. What I like about this book is that both characters help each other. With Shep's sweetness, protectiveness and honesty, Emma finds her home. With Bentley's help, she becomes aware of realities she previously ignored. With her Shep finds a partner, someone to rely on, someone to trust and share his burdens. This story is sweet and hot and realistic in the matters of the heart and heartache, showing the little details that are important when it comes to love.
LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!
So the heroine Emma returns to River Rock after her grandmother dies.
She's had a recent heartbreak and iant looking for a man.
But in walks SHEP ♡ a hot sexy cowboy into her life.
She shouldnt want things with him. But she does and she cant help it.
I swooned so damn much whilst reading this. Shep though *fans self* *swoons* he's one yummy Cowboy xx
This cowboy is about control and he makes her want to lose hers. She just lost her grandma and her boyfriend. Why not have some fun he's sexy, funny and he makes her shiver all over.
Dirty-talking Cowboy is a hot and steamy introduction to Stacey Kennedy’s new Kinky Spurs series. Shep and Emma are two strong, captivating characters that have blazing hot chemistry that practically sizzles from every page as this couple engage in a red hot and passionate relationship. The relationship has its ups and downs with emotional woes which has Emma and Shep working hard to reach their happily ever after especially since both of them have no intentions of making their relationship a permanent one.
The plot is fast paced and flows smoothly keeping reader’s attention and keeping them in suspense about how this relationship will work out while keeping the heart pumping with the very steamy passion. It starts off with a scene that had me questioning whether I wanted to continue with the book, but it all comes together and after a little twist and the problems facing Shep and his brothers adds to depth of the story and ensures that I want to get to know all of them.
As usual, Stacey Kennedy does a great job of creating her worlds and bringing them to vivid life with well-developed characters that make it easy for the readers to connect with them. I enjoyed reading this sweet, heartwarming story and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series which I believe is due to be released in October.
5 Totally Dirty Talking Stars!!
Dirty-Talking Cowboy was my first read by Stacey Kennedy and holy hotness! Talk about one heck of a hot dirty talking modern cowboy.
Emma has left the city to get away from her ex Jack to her Grams farm that she has inherited when her gram passed away. While at the farm Emma gets a part-time job working at a local bar called the Kinky Spurs. This is one heck of a bar that someone really needs to open up. There real cowboys all over the places, and Shep only has eyes for Emma.
Shep isn't really looking for a relationship, he's just looking to run the family Cattle ranch after his father passed away, but when he sees Emma all of those plans are thrown out of the window.
This book will have you wanting your very own sexy cowboy and I just say "Save a horse, ride a cowboy", get totally get it this once you.
The character chemistry was amazing. This is one series where I actually can't wait to read about the other Blackshaw brothers. Usually I'm not a huge fan or in any rush to finish a series when I know the other books are going to be able to supporting character from the first book. However this is not the case with this series, I NEED Chase and Nash Blackshaw.
Emma is nursing her broken heart while taking care of what her grandmother started taking care of abused animals. What she didn't expect was the hott cowboy Shep who seems to be good at tying her emotions in knots. Meanwhile Shep is dealing with the loss of his father and finding out that everything his father has worked for seemed to be worse they anyone could've imagined and got to work out how to keep what his father build afloat.
I loved this book. I loved the connection between Shep and Emma and how they were able to be open with one another and really compliment one another. I loved getting to know the two characters and seeing how they were able to slowly but surely work on Bentley. There was plenty of hott steamy scenes and romance between the two which I enjoyed. Its hard to talk more about this book without spoiling it but if you love a good contemporary romance with cowboys and plenty of steam you're not gonna want to miss this boo
Emma’s boyfriend has broken up with her so it seems just the right time when she inherits a farm from her Grandmother with it comes the abused animals her Grandmother cared for. Emma finds a waitress job at a joint called Kinky Spurs, it’s there she meets Shep he is about the sexiest man she has ever seen.
So Emma has left her big city life, her job her ex all behind, but she still has her heart and it is a broken one, but this Cowboy is really taking her mind off that, seems he might have just the fix for her.
So much story here beyond the spicy kinky sex is a great heart warming finding home and building a country life with her heart mended tale to satisfy you.
I have enjoyed many books by Stacey Kennedy and this one is no different, Dirty-Talking Cowboy had me hooked from the first page to the very last.
Emma and Shep are both going through not only a deep loss but a life changing event and loosing themselves in one another seems to be just what the doctor ordered to heal their hearts.
Emma's grandmother just passed away and left her the farm that she had to used to help rescue animals and unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, it came at the perfect time because Emma needed to get out of New York for a while and figure out what her next steps would be after leaving her high profile marketing position. Shep's father passed away suddenly of a heart attack and it left him and his two brothers, Chase and Nash, with a business none of them wanted but they needed to figure out how to make it work not only for their mother but also for all of the employees the company had.
Shep and Emma had great chemistry together. I not only liked the main characters of this book but I also loved the secondary characters, I am really looking forward to seeing both Chase and Nash getting their HEAs. If you enjoy a good story line with a dirty-talking cowboy then this book is for you. Happy Reading!
I always enjoy Stacey Kennedy's steamy romances, and Dirty-Talking Cowboy is a great launch to her new cowboy series. Shep and Emma have great chemistry, and I love the Kinky Spurs bar. Shep is a GOOD guy with a dirty mouth, so he is pretty irresistible, especially when he works with Emma. All in all, this is an entertaining, sexy and sweet romance.
After the death of her grandmother Emma Monroe has returned to River Rock, Colorado where she's inherited a farm full of abused animals. The last thing Emma wants in her life is a sexy and powerful cowboy.
Shep Blackshaw knows that the last thing on his mind should be the heated attraction he feels for Emma.
Their heated nights helps Emma to heal and forget her pain. But when her past returns she has to make a choice.
Sometimes a character in a book will just grab me and not let go, this time around it was Shep. Oh, sure he’s hot, sexy, handsome and more than capable of using his words to get exactly what he wants. But he’s also a man in mourning, a man with huge responsibilities on his shoulders, a man who takes control of a room by his mere presence yet can calm a terrified, abused horse with his words and touch. He is an amazing character and yes, somewhat like Emma I fell instantly for Shep. He’s a man anyone will notice, and Emma certainly did even if she didn’t intend to.
I was hooked on Dirty Talking Cowboy from the start, and I certainly wasn’t ready for the final page. I liked Emma, she’s been through some rough times lately. Yet she also annoyed me by constantly living in the broken past when the future was right in front of her. For me, Shep was the star of this story. This couple is believable, intense, sexy with tender moments and bantering like crazy the next. Shep and her grandmother’s farm are exactly what Emma needs, now she has to be willing to leave the past behind and take a risk. I believe most Contemporary Romance readers will enjoy Dirty Talking Cowboy. They fit – two broken pieces fit and at the heart that is what makes this romance believable. I am now eagerly awaiting the next story in the Kinky Spurs series.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
This book was a good read! It wasn't my favorite but definitely worth reading! It's shep and Emma book, Emma works at kinky spurs and takes care of her late grammas abused animal farm last thing she needs is a dirty talking cowboy! Shep is a rancher trying to save his late fathers cattle ranch, when these two get together?! Woo hoo i needed a cool drink of water after those scenes!! This is a high steam sometimes funny sometimes a little heartbreak, I definitely recommend reading this book it was a very good story! Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
Emma is living in her late grandmother's house while recovering from a breakup. Shep is a cowboy she meets at her job. The chemistry was explosive between this couple. A dirty talking cowboy just may be the thing Emma needs to put things right in her life. A sexy good read.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.
Here is what happened with this book and I. I was really digging the story and the tease about the two future couples, but then came this part of the blurb "But when the past comes to claim Emma, she’ll need to choose between the life she thought she wanted and the life she’s grown to love with Shep. " and I lost any interest I had in this book, which is why I am giving it 3 stars. I honestly thought that Emma would go to her old life and spend her time with another man. The way she was thinking made me believe that she didn't have any feelings for Shep and his were one-sided. I haven't felt like that in a long time. I had zero faith in the heroine and her love for Shep. I had already imagined how the rest of the book was going to play out and that's not a good thing. On the other hand, I felt like Shep was truly invested in the relationship they had.
I loved Chase in this book. Why? Because he has feelings for Harper as she has for him, but he wants her to fly and not hold her back. I found that very sweet and he is my favorite brother (sorry Shep). I will read the next two books in the series because both couples seemed like they would have an interesting journey, but I wouldn't recommend this book.
This fantastic book one in the Kinky Spurs series features Emma and Shep. PHEW! I had to keep a towel close by to wipe the condensation from my overheated e-reader! Shep is HOT HOT HOT! His voice along with his description but most of all his confidence is undeniably sexy! No wonder she couldn’t resist. I can’t seem to get him out of my head now! Anyways, I admire Emma’s determination to try to do her grandmother Daisy proud. There’s some unexpected serious business happening, which makes for a deeper story.
This book has an amazing story line, with fabulous characters! ALL the Blackshaw men are seriously SEXY but Shep is the darkest emotionally. BRAVO Stacey Kennedy! You definitely know how to write a truly kick butt cowboy! I can’t wait for more.
Dirty-Talking Cowboy is the first book of this series & sets the scene for the others. Emma is an ex-marketing executive that has inherited her Grandmother's farm. While she is trying to decide what to do, she has a part time job at the local bar. Shep is a hot Alpha cowboy & is interested in Emma. He's determined she'll be his. She is hung up on her former boss who "done her wrong". Can Shep make her forget her ex-boss?
Thanks to the descriptive prose, arrogance & sexiness of Shep, the development of the supporting characters & the main premise, this story was enjoyable. The attraction between Shep & Emma leapt off the page & the sexual scenes were well written & exquisitely descriptive. The only jarring note was Emma's hang up on her ex-boss. It was needed at the beginning of the story but seemed excessive. Overall, this was a very good story.
I have got to say I love a cowboy romance. Shep and Emma are such a hot pair. I not only enjoyed the storyline but I liked the bit of humor thrown in now and again. Especially when Emma under the influence of medication said things she might not otherwise say. This couple was very well mached and they seemed to be good for one another. I like how Shep was able to build trust in Emma by opening up to her and listening to what she had to say. All the characters in this book were great. Emma was able to realize that what her grandmother left her was worth sticking around for and that she loved River Rock and could make a great life for herself. I am glad she was able to see the ex that hurt her was not what she needed and sent him away when he came around. Shep was such a warm and caring man. Always trying to make sure his family was taken care of. He is definitely an alpha man who knows what he wants and makes sure that Emma knows that. I love how Shep and his brothers Chase and Nash along with the help of Emma are able to keep their father's legacy alive. Great HEA. I can wait to read what is in store for Chase and Nash and the ladies they have their eyes on!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Dirty Talking Cowboy is right up my alley. And the Kink wasn't over the top, so don't let the title throw you off.
Emma returns back to her Grandmother's farm after she dies and leaves her farm. Her grandmother rescued abuse animals and Emma wants to continue her work until she figures out what she is going to do about her ex back in New York. If there was one part of the story I didn't care for was how hung up she was on her ex, who ditched her when she need him the most.
Shep,is the hot cowboy who she has seen at her part time job as a waitress at the bar Kinky Spurs. They play some pretty kinky roping games and she can't seem to get him out of her head.
When Shep rescues Emma from after being dragged by an abused horse, he hangs around to help out with the horse. Shep has a reputation and Emma isn't sure she should hook up with him, no matter how good her dreams are of him.
Although Shep isn't sure he wants anything permanent, he can't help but be drawn to her. But when things get heavy, he isn't sure she is gonna stick around. He is afraid she will head back to her life in New York.
I enjoyed reading this book and the series and hope to read about some of the supporting cast in this series.
I have a thing for cowboys and the blurb sounded like it might be good so I took a chance on this one. Stacey Kennedy is a new to me author so I had no idea what to expect. Honestly I was a little worried that this book would be all sex and little substance given the title. It really wasn't at all.
Shep is the H in this one and a real cowboy. Emma, the h, is a city girl who inherited her Gram's farm. Emma arrives broken hearted to the River Rock farm, not only because of the loss of her beloved Gram but also because of the end of a one year relationship. The physical attraction between Shep and Emma is intense from the start but how could they possibly make it being so opposite of one another? Could Emma even stay in River Rock? What about her corporate line of work? Are things really over with the ex? All this is happening while Shep is also dealing with major family and financial problems after the death of his father.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The characters were interesting and engaging. The plot flows nicely. And the author even sets up some future stories for this series (although this one can completely stand alone). Glad I read it and will likely continue with the series.
