First, thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title. Access to review copies is always appreciated.
Unfortunately, I have chosen not to finish and review this title. I was not able to connect with it, and instead of finishing a title I was not connecting with, I have chosen to move on to another title.
Again, I appreciate the opportunity and look forward to the next title.
This was seriously cute and had all the feels!.
Fernando never disappoints!
These characters were really great solo and even better together. The family aspects in reference to the MC, Knuckle's daughters, Erin and Gage, Celina and her flakey father were the things I believe were meant to stick out. Everything fit so intrinsically, the good and the bad and formed an awesome story. The intense moments were gut-wrenching and real. I had an amazing time getring to truly know these characters and read about their life and how they flourished despite the unexpected occurrences and unplanned happenstances.
This romance was fast, but it felt right it every way.
Chantal Fernando has written another story in The Cursed Ravens MC. It will bring Knuckle story which I am totally excited about because he is such a teddy bear but definitely dangerous to others. And he pairs up with Erin cousin, Celina, who is intelligent sexy woman.
Knuckle is well-known for using his knuckle when there is a problem but he also have a softer side to the woman in his life. He is single father to two little ones which super adorable because he is a total softies to them. He spoils them rotten every time. He is not involve with the baby mother since she is just drama and trouble for no reason which is a good thing for Cellina. And he is determine to catch Cellina because she is the one for him. And he will show her that they are meant to be.
Cellina is Erin cousin and she is hoot too. And she is very intelligent that may scary men but too bad for them. Only a man will appreciate her true self, not weak ones. And Knuckle definitely does. He is different than any man that she never dated which will throw her through the loophole. But I think is best thing though. She will get to know more about herself when she has strong support behind at every chance. And there will be some struggle between them.
Knuckle Down will different sides of the MC member than before which will bring insightful views about man supporting their woman in every aspect. Five stars!
*****5 Knuckle Stars*****
Knuckle is not only the Sergeant at Arms of the MC, he's also a single father to two beautiful daughters. He not only does what it takes to protect his club but also what it takes to protect his family. Knuckle has swore that he would never let another woman back in, given the horrible relationship he had with his girl's mother. Erin Cousin invites her to the MC clubhouse for Erin's birthday party, she didn't go with the intention of finding a man. But when she meets Knuckles all bets are off the table. Celina is a journalist for one of the biggest newspapers in her town. Her dream has always been to have her article on the front page. Knuckles and Celina had strong chemistry from the start but Celina refused to have anything to do with him until he kept hanging around as “just friends.” When Knuckle met Celina, it was the first time that he felt an attraction to someone in years. This is such an easy good read.
*****ARC from Net Galley for review*****
So continuing the story of a group of amazing men that have come together to make the most unusual family around, another woman is roped into the love of a wild man that she never saw coming. I jumped at the chance to read this series when I saw how sexy the cover was and of course the comparison to one of my favorite authors wasn’t a bad thing, but I was still a little skeptical. As this series moves forward I am enjoying it more and more, with Celina and Knuckles having their own unique brand of craziness to make them just so special. I was a little surprised by the direction the author took, but ok it all came together in the end, even if it moved even faster than the last story in the series. Knuckles was a great guy, even though he had a moment of being an asshole, but of course he redeemed himself and proved that he deserved to be the man to earn Celina’s heart. I liked getting to see more of him, but as with all fist person POV stories he is the character you get to know the least and it always takes the longest because you have to wait for all the hidden stuff to come out at the same time as Celina learning everything. In the end, I found that I loved his sweetness, wildness, skill at fatherhood and obvious love for Celina in every moment of their lives together. Celina was obviously a woman that had been hurt in the past, but I wish she hadn’t been quite so hard and mean in the beginning though, of course, Knuckles just rolls right over her objections. I loved seeing her being a kickass independent woman, but my favorite moments were when she lowered her shields and showed her softness and sweetness with Knuckles or his girls. I will say that their relationship was so much, so fast, and that could have been excused, had we gotten to see them building their relationship in the quiet moments as their time together progressed. However once they got over their major conflict moments, it seemed like the rest of the story was just wrap up with lots of time and plot jumps to make sure that there were no lingering threads, with a few little twists then added to keep it from being boring. I’m the kind of reader that loves the sexy stuff but loves the easy and soft moments just as much, so I would have loved to see more of that too. That being said I enjoyed this story very much and am looking forward to Rogue’s story coming next and cannot wait for that chance. Knuckles and Celina burned up the sheets and just as much burned the back of my eyes with unshed tears, but I was thrilled to see them get their HEA and find a way build their lives together. For fans of crazy, sassy characters, hot and sexy couples, and of course drama to beat the band then you can’t go wrong with Knuckle Down, but I am also looking forward to Going Rogue! (giggle)
I love this book! The chemistry between Knuckle and Lina from the start is off the charts. Lina is in a rough spot with her job but does the right thing for her family. Knuckle is a full alpha male and shows it many times. He jumps to conclusions about the woman he fell for and almost loses her. I'm so excited for this series!
I was nervous reading another mc series by Fernando because I deeply love her previous series and I didn’t want to alter that. But she is QUEEN and rocked it! I have yet to be disappointed by her words, her spirit, and the energy she puts in all her novels!
Yess yesssss 10000% yes you should be reading this!
I read this series one book after the next. So I won’t do individual reviews because they all were absolutely fantastic! I know it took me a while to get to them, and I truly apologize. BUT she always has the best books to get out of a slump with! I loved this whole series!
I absolutely adored this book the characters are simply amazing with single dad Griffin who's not had amazing relationships since he's bringing up his boy Levi and running his bar business, he lives in a new apartment and runs into Ava and her pup.
They both have alot of trust issues when it comes to commitment which leaves them being very casual and it makes it a sexy read, Ava falls in love with the guy and his boy but I think Griffin falls the hardest and does everything he can to break down Ava's walls and make a relationship together.
This is a super cute and sexy read it leaves you craving more of the three of them, It's got a big family feel to it and also Tacos lots and lots of Tacos ;)
I received a digital copy of Knuckle Down from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The following review contains opinions that are mine and mine alone.
I was honestly in love with Knuckles the Cursed Ravens’ Sergeant in Arms in Ace of Hearts and I was overly excited to learn that he was next in line to receive his own story ( there was squealing) and I quickly made the request to review as soon as I saw the listing go up on NetGalley.
I had some worries about pairing Knuckles with Erin’s journalist cousin, Celina, since journalists and bikers totally go well together, right? Ha. I just knew that our sweet and amazing Knuckles was in for a rough time of it. But I buckled my seat belt and prepared for the ride. No, really. I read this on the way to the medical centre for my MRI scans. I buckled up, my mum’s not a Sunday driver. Knuckles and Celina work, they have a bumpy journey, but Knuckles isn’t your stereotypical biker and Celina isn’t your stereotypical journalist. And that’s what makes this work, thankfully. I’d have been heartbroken if Knuckles didn’t get a HEA.
Knuckles is enamoured of his bestie’s cousin, Celina, the moment he sets eyes on her at Erin’s birthday party. He politely bulldozes his way through the roadblocks Celina’s erected to keep all men at bay since her disastership with her workmate and Celina recognises that yes, she likes Knuckles and she’s letting her past relationship and her daddy issues cloud her vision when it comes to Knuckles. We also see Knuckles letting his past relationship with his daughters’ mother cloud his relationship with Celina a few times. If nothing else, we do learn that open communication is important, right?
From the very beginning of the story we see Celina having an internal struggle between her journalistic drive and her morals. Should she use her family connection to the Cursed Ravens MC to get an all-access pass to write a front-page story or not? She even tries to reason that if it's a positive story on the MC, it'd be okay. Can I have some of whatever she's on? We see this tug of war go back and forth for a good portion of the book, and it only gets worse as her relationship with Knuckles progresses. Be forewarned, this storyline will frustrate you and you will be tempted to pull your hair out.
I loved the bit we saw of Celina's best friend, Akeira, she reminded me of my sister and that's always a good thing. No filter and a taste for adventure. I wish there'd been more of her!
I was a bit disappointed that Knuckles didn’t get a more action-packed story for being an enforcer but I’m also glad he got a more emotional story because it showed him as more than a stereotyped biker. Oh, look at me. I learned something. Ha. I’m kidding, y’all.
I loved how Knuckles was always a gentleman towards Celina, never invading her personal space except when they were flirting, and it was still done respectfully. No groping! Even when they’re playing chase at the beach in bathing suits, Knuckles doesn’t grab Celina inappropriately. I was just so proud of him. Don’t judge me.
Knuckles, along with his two daughters, Willow and Westley, quickly become regular fixtures in Celina’s home. It’s a normal occurrence for Knuckles to bring the girls over for dinner and a movie. While she’s consciously still fighting the lasting relationship aspect of their relationship, Celina’s already acting maternal towards the girls. You might as well just give them keys, honey.
The big event at the end really freaked the living tar out of me, readers. I actually had to take a moment to just breathe – both times I read it! I can’t tell y’all about it, because spoilers and all, but eesh, it made me thank the deities my momma is my momma. Long story and it'd be a bit of a spoiler. But y'all,
I had a lot of laughs reading Knuckle Down, and I even reread it because I enjoyed it the first time through. I don’t like rereading books within the first year because I’ve got a photographic memory and I loathe déjà vu. But I reread Knuckle Down and it was totally worth it. Because I took notes! Don't expect that to happen again, it was so constrictive and I couldn't knit while I read. So annoying.
Overall, I'm giving Knuckle Down a 4 out of 5 stars and 2 flames for the sexy times. Although, that one scene on the stairs had my friend and I both hoping Celina has some good insurance for a chiropractor!
I have to admit, MC books are not usually my thing, but I got caught up with Jack being a single father and having to balance his MC life with bringing up two little girls. I loved that Jack had a super sweet side to him.
Chantal Fernando writes bad boys oh so good. In Knuckle Down, she outdoes herself. I love the detail and character journeys.
Chantal Fernando is an author who knows how to catch your attention and hold tight to it.
The worlds she creates are immersive, evocative and captivating.
Ace of Hearts introduced readers to the Cursed Ravens MC, providing a look at the club from an insider's perspective.
Knuckle Down shows yet more insight into the Cursed Ravens MC.
Celina, a cousin to Erin (the heroine from Ace of Hearts) is treated somewhat like family by the Cursed Ravens but she's still an outsider, not a fully integrated part of the Cursed Ravens and as such is still viewed somewhat warily, especially as she's a journalist for a popular newspaper.
Knuckles, the Cursed Ravens enforcer and a loving, single father, takes one look at Celina and knows that he has to know her, has to have her in his life and goes after her like a steamroller, a gentle, loving steamroller that won't let anything get in his way of wooing her.
However, both Celina and Knuckles have issues and struggle to trust.
Will their different lifestyles and issues prove too much for them?
Read and find out!
This is an excellent continuation of the Cursed Ravens series and I hope that there's more, much more to come.
Decent story, more of a romance than a MC story, but seeing as how Knuckles wants to change for his daughters, it makes sense to be more romance-focused.
Stevie‘s review of Knuckle Down (Cursed Ravens MC, Book 2) by Chantal Fernando
Contemporary Action Adventure Romance published by Pocket Star 09 Jul 18
I think I like the idea of biker romances a lot better than I enjoy most of the books themselves. Somehow the women are hard-boiled enough and the men aren’t shifty enough to give me what I want from the story; nevertheless, I’m always happy to try new-to-me authors within the genre, even if it means diving in partway through a series. This time I started with the second book in the Cursed Ravens series, and while it stood alone very nicely, there were possibly more references back to the previous book (in an ‘as you know, Bob’ kind of way) than I really needed. Our introduction to the club at the heart of the series, for this book, comes via the cousin of the previous book’s heroine.
Celina Hutton is an up-and-coming journalist on a local paper and so has professional as well as personal reasons for wanting to meet her cousin’s new man and the rest of his club. Having secured an invite to a birthday party at the clubhouse, her first thought is how normal everything seems. When the introductions are made, Celina’s attention is grabbed by the club’s sergeant at arms, Jack ‘Knuckles’ Chester, and he seems equally struck by her. As the party turns into a double celebration – of an engagement as well as a birthday – Celina finds herself more than a little inebriated. Fortunately, a totally sober Knuckles has managed to purloin her car keys and offers to drive her home. Now I know things are a little different over the other side of the pond, but I really don’t like to see a supposedly upstanding protagonist drive to any kind of gathering and then not watch how much (if anything) they have to drink. Don’t drink and drive, kids.
I was prepared to forgive Celina her first lapse, but she never really managed to endear herself to me as the book progressed. I found her whole attitude to investigative journalism a little off. She wants to write positive stories about the club and is angry when her words are twisted by a vindictive editor, yet she’s never curious enough to find out just what the club’s members are doing when illegal activities are hinted at.
Knuckles wasn’t much better in some respects: neither tough enough nor enlightened enough to appeal to me as a hero, he falls out with Celina over the story published in her name, yet is prepared to throw lots of money at her situation when life starts to get tough for her. Another hint, kids: don’t entirely trust blokes who tell you they’ve had a vasectomy, and certainly don’t have unsafe sex with a near-stranger. Just saying.
All in all, this book was a bit of a let-down. One day, however, I’m sure I’ll find biker romances that appeal again.
Grade: D
Unfortunately, this title was not my cup of tea. I like my MC romance novels to be quite a bit grittier than this. Cute story, decent characters, but I felt like it was lacking something.
Knuckle Down
Cursed Ravens-Book 2
Knuckles and Celina
They meet through her cousin Erin, who is dating Ace, a Cursed Raven’s member. The minute Knuckle sees Celina, he knows he wants her. But, she has her walls up high and they are strongly built.
All she needs in her life is her job as a journalist, Erin, her best friend, Akeira, and her three dogs. She has no room or desire for a man. Until she meets him.
I liked this book. Love that people from Chantal’s other books make an appearance (Wind Dragons and Conflict of Interest). You don’t need to read these to enjoy this book, but they’re good, so you should.
Reading this book is a great way to spend a day.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
At face value, there’s no way that Knuckles, the Cursed Ravens Motorcycle Club’s sergeant-at-arms and single dad, and Celina, Erin’s cousin and a journalist for the local newspaper, should want anything to do with one another…not only because they live in contradictory worlds, but they also seem to be on opposite sides when it comes to breaking the law.
But despite Knuckles and Celina’s very obvious differences, it’s clear from their initial interactions and the more than mutual attraction, that there’s something worth pursuing between them, even if Knuckles thought he’d never want anything ‘real’ with another woman after his ex and the fact that Celina’s walls seem to be even higher than his own, which means he’ll have to work if he wants anything with her other than a whole lot of sexual chemistry.
I absolutely adored Knuckles in Erin and Ace’s story, not only because he was Erin’s ‘bestie,’ but because it was easy to see just how much he loves his two daughters; he’s a born protector, refusing to allow his girls or his brothers to get hurt or suffer needlessly if he can help it.
Celina’s an interesting heroine; she’s fiercely independent and driven to succeed, and she seems to have a standard way to live her life, which means that if someone or something doesn’t fit her wants and needs, adding something to the good life she has then it’s not worth it, but she can’t seem to completely control herself when it comes to Knuckles.
The storyline is a bit predictable, given Celina’s profession, her desire to get her name on her newspaper’s front page, and the fact that the public doesn’t know much about the Cursed Ravens Motorcycle Club, but those factors didn’t really prevent my enjoyment of the story. It also helps that the climax of the conflict doesn’t occur at the end of the story; in fact, after revelations threaten to destroy Celina and Knuckles’ fairly new relationship, there’s a lot more to their story, and while other complications arise, they’re working together a lot more than they’re working against each other.
There’s so much more to a motorcycle club than their illegal activities and the out of control parties they throw, and Chantal Fernando presents those ideas through Celina’s eyes, which adds credence to her perspective and allows for a less judgmental understanding of all of the characteristics that make up an MC brotherhood.
Bring on Rogue’s story!
4 Poison Apples
I really loved and enjoyed this one. really an awesome read that i cant get enough of. cant wait to read more.
I really loved the first book in the series! But Knuckle Down just wasn't as good to me. I kind of struggled with even finishing it, but I wanted to see where the story went and I knew that I wanted to read the 3rd book Going Rogue- so I did stick with it.
I felt like Chantal really set up the story in book one, but in this one, it just fell flat!
Such a great series, each of these books is unique.I love the story line and the bikers in these stories.I loved the idea of Celina and Knuckles together the minute he first approaches her at the clubhouse. I was excited and intrigued! All of the characters felt well developed! This was a fast, enjoyable read. I could have easily read it in one sitting!!
