I received a free copy of Purrder She Wrote by Cate Conte in exchange for an honest review. Maddie James has just opened a cat café on Daybreak Island. On opening day, an argument breaks out between one of the volunteers and a wealthy woman over whether the woman would be able to adopt one of the cats. Later on, when the wealthy woman is found stifled with a custom catnip toy made by the same volunteer, that volunteer becomes the focus of the police’s investigation. Maddie is concerned and begins to investigate in order to clear the volunteer’s name. During the investigation, Maddie is further stressed when her family members, friends, and acquaintances heap additional responsibilities on her and try to make her responsible for the wellbeing of their careers and egos.

This was a fun book. I liked it and think you will, too. You do not need to have read the prior novel to enjoy this tale. I do agree with Maddie that she has terrible taste in men. She has either a saint’s or a doormat’s patience with both the egotistically unrealistic expectations and the blame/shaming foisted upon her by her family, her partner, and especially her tentative boyfriend.

I  received a free digital copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

This was my first time reading this series, and I honestly loved it! Apart from a great story line, there were so many funny lines!

"I always thought he'd divorce her in a second if someone offered him a cat."

The characters were well thought out and just wonderful. Grandpa was one of my favorite! I didn't care for Craig and I found Val wishy washy. (But quite frankly she had a lot going on)

I really hate when you find out who the killer is, and it was someone you liked. Sigh.

I can't wait for the next book !!

Purrder She Wrote by Cate Conte is the second in her Cat Cafe series and was a strong addition to this new series.
On opening day of the Cat Cafe, Maddie is thrilled until she has to referee a squabble between a spoiled local socialite and one of her volunteers. But the rest of the day goes well until the police show up. It seems that some one has murdered that particular socialite and the police are looking at her volunteer.
The pace is smooth and swift with the usual twists and several suspects for Maddie to consider. Ms. Conte also added more detail to each of the characters so that I felt like I got to know Maddie, her family and friends much better in this book. I also enjoyed meeting Maddie's partner, Ethan, in this book. He seems to be a solid young man who is smart and definitely business savvy. I hope to get to know him better as this series progresses since Ms. Conte seems to have a romance in mind for him. An enjoyable afternoon read and I look forward to reading more in this series.

This is the second book in the series. A great premise with all the ingredients of a solid cozy mystery.

This is a delightful series! This latest installment did nothing but add to the charming cast of characters and includes a solid whodunit. With a new business underway, conflict, and a dead body, this tale keeps you on the edge of your seat! I cannot wait for the next installment!

The second book in the series, and even better than the first. A perfect cozy mystery. Enjoy the coastal town and characters in it. The main female lead is very likeable. I like the author doesn't make the main character's family too perfect in their relationships, like other cozy mysteries tend to do. There should be a little tension sometimes. The romance aspect is a nice blend, not too much. I like it is based around a cat cafe, that is a fresh take in the cozy mystery genre. Looking forward to the next in the series.

A little disappointing after such a great first book. I’m hoping book 3 will be on stronger footing.

Madalyn James has left California to return to Daybreak Island, somewhere off the New England coast, where she and her friend Ethan are starting a cat café. They hope to combine re-homing cats with running a coffee shop. When a spoiled rich woman, Holly, comes in on opening day and demands to take a cat without going through any reference checks, one of the volunteers gets into a shouting match with her. You can probably guess who turns up dead in this cute cozy mystery for cat lovers.
