This was a good book. Full of suspense and great chemistry between the characters. This is the first book of the series I’ve read and I would recommend reading the others first. That way you have a better idea about all the characters. I’m definitely going to check out the other books in the series. I also see potential for future books with some other characters. You really can’t go wrong with Seals.
Cabe is a moving hero. Strong and brave, of course, but he had terrible times that led him to build walls around him to protect himself. This does not prevent him from being loyal and honest, he is just very cautious, which is easily understood. Amy is a heroine that we can only admire. Sassy, smart, determined. She is an impressive force of nature. I loved that our protagonists behave like adults who communicate and help each other. Their relationship was able to convince me without problem. The secondary characters are not set aside, they are not there for the decor, we are very attached to them. Scarlett Cole once again proves her immense talent.
comme d'habitude avec l'autrice, j'ai passé un très bon moment avec les personnages ! Une romance avec du suspense, des sentiments et des personnages attachants !!
This is book 3 in the Love Over Duty Series. When Ex-Navy Seal Cabe & FBI operative Amy meet to work a case together, sparks fly and they must overcome their pasts to solve the case and maybe find love.
Cabe, who has been introduced in earlier books, gets his time to shine with new to the series, Amy.
We learn that Cabe is affected by the earlier loss of his fiance while she was in active duty and that is now clouding his decisions and actions around FBI agent Amy. Cabe doesn't want to lose his love for Jes and Amy doesn't want to be the girl perceived as sleeping with upper management. They fight their own battles but their attraction is too much to keep them apart for very long.
This is another cute installment and the author does a good job keeping the universe and characters tied together while giving each book its own plot line.
What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.
This story takes place between Cabe Moss and Amy Murray. These characters are well constructed with realistic backgrounds. The loss Cabe experiences is captured very well and does not go overboard. The job harassment Amy goes through is all too real and I commend Ms. Cole for writing it in this manner. The setup of this story is nicely done with Amy's motive for joining the FBI.
I would say the first half of this book, I am riveted and fully engaged. Then about half way through, when the romance part starts to get heated up, I lose interest. The chemistry between Cabe and Amy just is not there for me. I like them better as partners in fighting crime. The plot seems to take a back seat and felt a bit glossed over so that the relationship between the two characters could evolve. It isn't a bad thing, it just lost that action and suspense part of the story.
What I really like is how much I learned about playing poker and hidden gems in Las Vegas. I learn about the Neon museum that I wish I had known before I went to Vegas. Viewing through the eyes of Amy, Vegas becomes less a depressing sin city of despair and drunken mayhem. Instead, it is a colourful place with history and character. The little touches of history regarding blacks and women in Vegas enhanced the story.
The conflict in this story is straightforward and there are no surprises. The ending concludes swiftly and yet I am left feeling a bit dissatisfied. Because there are a couple of threads that I am not sure why they were important enough to mention yet nothing happened with it. And of course, the mystery of Amy's mother is never solved. One specific thread that is mentioned is the slots bothering Amy. Yet nothing materializes from it. This romantic suspense is recommended to readers who like happily ever afters and work place romances.
Steamy romance between Cabe and Amy, who are working together in a case. I hadn’t read the previous books in the series so there was a slight disadvantage in that sense but it was still easy to follow. I do wish the author explained a few points more, like how Amy’s cover was blown, but overall it was still a good book.
I was looking forward to Cabe's story but for some reason he wasn't my favorite. I don't know why this story didn't reel me in like others.
I did like Amy and I liked the chemistry and story between Cabe and Amy. My heart went to Cabe with the loss of his fiancee and I felt him moving on was done well, but there was just something that didn't win me over.
Again time line issues and giggling which do distract me. Those are person irks and for others these two things wouldn't be an issue.
2.5 Stars!
Deep Cover is a riveting story packed with action, romance and adrenaline. You don't want to miss the sizzling chemistry between Cabe Moss and Amy Murray, as they get deep undercover putting their lives at risk but fighting to keep their hearts together!
Scarlett Cole is a great writer of romantic suspense and never a disappointment!
Deep Cover will keep you interested from the start.
Deep Cover will bring Cabe story to the head. He gets to work with Amy which will spark up his life never before. Cabe has always been about his work ever since he lost his fiance. He never pay attention to anything unless it was about work. But things change when he partner with Amy. Amy is different than he ever expected. She is so positive and determine that he also gets that way too.
Amy may be a little over her head with this coming mission. But she is determine to make it through no matter what. And I love the determination from her. She is willing to do the work in order to make it work. And she does not mind the grumpy Cabe even though she has a little crush on him. Who can blame her? I would too.
Cabe and Amy will bring positive for each other that you want them together in Deep Cover.
3 1/2 Star
Both haunted by the past….
Finally Cabe’s story! When he lost Jess, any thoughts of love and forever were gone. Immersed in his military career and now in the Security firm he and his brothers in arms started, he still thought that way. Even if a chance meeting with Amy, shook him up. That beyond awkward encounter paved the way for an even bigger chock… Working together! Amy had been through the wringer work-wise and the rocky start with Cabe didn’t help. She wanted to do well in her new assignment for many different reasons but her past haunted her life too….
Two wounded souls brought together in a common goal, with danger and suspense all around them, made for a rollicking good ride! I loved how confident Amy was despite being knocked down again and again. She could still be positive and never give up her sense of self-worth. With Cabe she could show a softer side and help him through battles of his own. Together, they were a team. In all ways…
With heart-pounding action, love found its way for Cabe and Amy, bringing the series arc to a close with a completely satisfying read. If you like love with a lot of action and tension, this is a series for you!
Exciting, hot and steamy, and fast-paced. I loved the how the characters played off each other! Book provided by NetGalley.
Scarlett Cole writes sexy characters and a sexy plot. This will be steaming up beach bags on every coast.
An exciting, fast-paced read with an amazing romance between a man learning to love again and a woman learning to trust again. While you could read this one on its own, you’ll definitely understand more of the backstory and motivation of the main characters if you’ve read the other books. I highly recommend these books if you're in the mood for a great romantic suspense series.
The plot - <i>"Ex-Navy SEAL Cabe Moss always comes when called to duty―at all costs. Even though the death of his fiancée nearly destroyed him, Cabe won’t let his past interfere with any work that has to get done. When his latest task pushes him to team up with FBI Agent Amy Murray, a fierce beauty with the undercover skills to match, Cabe must admit that, for the first time in years, he wants to do more than just complete their mission together…
Amy was born ready for this assignment, but working side-by-side with the strong, silent, and frustratingly professional Cabe seems to be the biggest challenge of all. But when the sparks begin to fly―and the stakes rise to dangerous heights―the only thing Amy is left worrying about is how she can resist him. Their lives may be in danger, but their hearts hold the biggest risk of all…"<i>
Steamy, sizzling, angsty romantic suspense full of drama, nail biting twists and turns. Lots of chemistry but bad timing for Cabe when he met Amy. Will their stars ever align? Love the Navy Seal man and a strong heroine. Great second cast of characters. Enjoyable read!
I really love the way that this author writes and found they can write a story that completely engages me in their story. This was another great story written by this author that I really could not get enough of reading.
This was a really great read! The characters were great and the plot was interesting. I love Scarlett Cole's books and can't wait to read more!
DNF. I struggled to get invested in this book between the generic prose and the well worn trope. I'm sure that some would enjoy it but for me I found this quite boring.
First, my apologies as I should have sent this a lot sooner and just realized that a number of titles I had marked as not reading were not also cleared off of my NetGalley page.
In this case, I was not able to connect with the storyline, and chose to not read farther than the 12% mark in the book.
As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review and I look forward to the next title.
Thank you,
Laura
