Within the first few pages, this book will reach out to the frenetic, scattered, lost feeling you might have from life in the modern world. It speaks with calm and assurance with the lovely photos of family, food, and charming decor.

Your soul will breathe in the beauty, and you will begin to think about how you could bring your everyday life into sync with nature. The conversational style with which the author shares about her days will make you feel you are hearing from an old friend.

Your imagination will spark, your motivation to live a bit closer to Earth, to pay attention to what is actually happening outside your door, and to simplify your life will grow.

Get this beautiful book and lift your spirits!

Beautiful book!! So gorgeous with great stories and recipes. I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy. Would make an excellent coffee table book or gift!

A majority of my rating was influenced by the gorgeous photos alone. Each photo was beautifully taken and added quite a bit to the overall book. Honestly, I could have looked at just the pictures and been happy. However, I did really enjoy the recipes, the blurbs about what she was harvesting and when, and the interior decorating. Not to mention, the wonderfully simple do-it-yourself projects. I thought that with everything it was a really good tie-together for the book. One little thing though is that I did wish that there was more about the farmstead itself and how that was grown.

Now, if only I could have her decorate my home for me!

After a thought inspiring forward by Stuart Elliot comes the author’s introduction sharing how she celebrates family and farm traditions year-round in Seasons at the Farm.

The book is then divided into four main sections, one for each season. Section 1 is Unveiling Spring, including sections on The Spring Garden, Spring Recipes, Spring In The Home, Spring Celebrations, and Spring Chaos.

In The Spring Garden, you will find tips on creating an indoor garden, including how to tend and mark it. Information on edible perennials and perennial flowers are also included with details on how to press flowers.

The first set of recipes, Spring Recipes, uses the spring vegetables and fruits which are in season at that time.

The recipes themselves all begin with an introduction, yield, and simple instructions. Most also include a large or full-page photograph of the finished article, which is very helpful when visualizing what it is you want to make.

This section is completed with A Spring In The Home, offering various decorating ideas for spring. It’s followed by Spring Celebrations, offering advice on setting a spring table, and Spring Chaos, a peek at the insanity of the season.

Each of the other seasons is covered in a similar manner. All with appropriate seasonal recipes.

Interesting Selection Of Information And Recipes

This book is less of a recipe/cookbook then it is a lifestyle guide. But it is extremely fun and interesting with a lot of good information included.

There are tons of ideas throughout the book. Everything from creating the look you want, to growing the plants you’ll need, and how to cook them. It really is a one-stop shop.

This is the kind of book you will keep on your coffee table or your go-to shelf for easy reference. The level of detail on ingredients and ideas for creating the ambience you want to in any season is exceptional.

Have you ever wished you lived on a farm or are you in love the the lifestyle and not quite ready to give up the hustle of the City? Shaye Elliott's book can help you to have a bit of the farm in your home no matter where you live.
Seasons at the Farm is exactly that, it's broken into the four seasons with beautiful photography and wonderful insight. It includes ideas on how to turn regular meals into something special. It's about eating seasonally but also taking it up a notch. She encourages us to not hold out on beautiful presentations just for parties and groups of friends, but to also welcome your family daily to the table and to create a rustic welcoming daily home.
There are ideas on creating displays by using what you have on hand, no need to spend more than you need on making a statement tablescape. The recipes shown are adventurous without being difficult and will appeal to a wide range of audiences.
Also included are gardening tips, home projects and a peek into Ms. Elliot's truly magical farm. Definitely a great addition to anyone's booklist, a great resource that will be visited time and time again as the seasons change for new ideas and farm wisdom.

I often use the phrase “my new best friend” when referencing a kindred spirit; a person with whom I am instantly connected; with whom I share a common bond. Such is the feeling I had about Shaye Elliott when simply reading the introduction to her new book, Seasons at the Farm. What unfolds in this book is a casual conversation with the author. She paints a vivid picture of the life her family is creating.

She walks you through each season of the year. She lets you know what she harvesting and eating. The seasonal commentary includes various recipes. She includes ways in which she has given her homestead a personal touch - from DIY seed markers to decorating tips. She supplements each section with simple family activities (her children are still young), as well as her thoughts on color palettes, fabrics, and textures. You are given an intimate peek at the various elements and approaches she uses to cultivate her home.

Elliot's approach is refreshing because it is casual and friendly. She doesn’t feel the need to explain why she likes to grow poppies and peonies. Those are simply her preferences. She readily admits that she has had little success with corn but still grows a specific variety to use for fall decorations. She doesn’t feel the need to justify her decisions or qualify her reasoning. She does what she does because that is what allows her to create the space that will enable her family to flourish.

The result of this approach is a friendly conversation that is easy to read, with vivid photos to round out the commentary.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Seasons at the Farm delivers everything it promises and then some. Beautifully written by the author Shaye Elliott, this book is a well-thought-out and from the heart look at family, farm life, and the seasonal beauty of life at Le Chalet; the farm (Elliott Homestead). I’ve enjoyed this book thoroughly and will probably wear it out grabbing for it time and time again. Seasons at the Farm takes the reader on a journey from spring to fall revealing purpose, hope, joy, celebration, and many more realities and inspirations of life at the farm. Seasons at the Farm is a rich looking, well made, coffee table perfect (though mine won’t sit for long), beautifully photographed collection of stories and recipes from some of my favorite people—

What a lovely publication! And there is so much more to this book than I even anticipated. Not only does it contain a variety of recipes for each season, it also has suggestions for presentation, settings to use for entertaining and decorating ideas. Seasons on the Farm even gives advice on how to use what you have to make a stunning and enjoyable meal.

All in all, this is a book that should appeal to a wide variety of cooks. The recipes are somewhat unique and should make you feel like a pro, the decorating advice and projects will inspire nearly everyone and the beautiful photographs add a touch of elegance.

I highly recommend this book to cooks of all levels. I’m sure there are ideas that will appeal to nearly everyone. It is definitely a book for cookbook lovers and collectors.

Many thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

The Elliott family shares their family farm with us in this book. It is beautifully put together. It is divided into the four seasons. It includes everything imaginable for that time of year. They share what is grown on the farm from peas in the spring to artichokes in the fall. The recipes are based on what is happening on the farm. The food is fresh and plentiful. There are decorations to go along with the beautiful foods. Even something as simple as colors listed for the season. There's helpful pictures showing how to plant flowers and create indoor gardens as well as outdoor ones. I would have enjoyed a few more recipes but it was a nice book.

Seasons at the Farm is a nice collection of seasonal musings and anecdotes about life around author Shaye Elliott's family farm in Washington, and entertaining at the homestead. Broken into four sections - Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter - with tips about decorating, gardening, and general housekeeping - I enjoyed reading it. Although I don't have a farm homestead of my own, I can certainly try some of her growing tips and recipes (I'm definitely planning on making the summer quiche and chocolate bread!). It's a quick read, and can be re-read seasonally as needed or desired. 5 stars!

What I appreciated most, even including the beautiful photography, and approachable writing, was the author's unapologetic confession that many of her the house plants she buys in the Spring die. This does not seem to stop her trying, so now...I'm going to try plants again myself. Whether they die or not, I will have plants again.

This is a really delightful book with many good recipes and lots of personal anecdotes. I haven't read the authors other books, but after reading this one, I will.
Their life on their farm sounds like a combination of really hard work and really good food and times.
The photos are really lovely as well.
I enjoyed her style sense of 'farmhouse' and shabby chic. Twenty-five years ago I would have loved this style, now as a minimalist not so much. But I appreciated her take on it all.
I would highly recommend this book as a gift for the farmhouse lover and those that love homegrown things.

In SEASONS AT THE FARM, popular author and storyteller Shaye Elliott shares year-round celebrations at the Elliot Homestead, her famous farmhouse. This is a stunningly beautiful book, with delicious recipes, DYI projects, and design and entertainment ideas, all captured in sumptuous color photographs. SEASONS is a much-awaited sequel to her previous books, derived from her popular blog. Highly recommended!

Note: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Rowman & Littlefield, Lyons Press, through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

When I saw the cover of "Seasons at the Farm" by Shaye Elliot, I had to get it because the photos on the cover were beautiful and the idea that it was sectioned by seasons was appealing.  The anticipation to review this book was perfect for my "Spring"- fresh, sunny  attitude and I couldn't wait to get it.

The book was divided into seasons and each season included sections of gardening, recipes, decorations in the home, and celebrations.  At first glance, you notice the stunning photographs. aYou're invited into a warm, comfortable home with fresh food and good company.  Sometimes a feeling of  "I want my house to be like that" hits you and you want to quit looking at the book and

start redecorating your house.  Then reality becomes clear. Most of us are too busy for a complete home makeover.  The better approach to this book is to use whatever ideas appeal to you and relax to enjoy the rest of the book through its photographs.

I enjoyed looking at "Seasons at the Farm", but didn't like reading it.  It felt like the author was bragging about her accomplishments and stories rather than trying to connect with her readers.  I also saw gourmet recipes and time consuming projects.  This disappointed my creative side.

After shelving the book for a little time, I decided to give it a second chance.  It was worth it. Sometimes as a reader, we have to understand the intentions of the author.  Shaye's intentions weren't to give us a cookbook or a book on gardening and crafts.  She intended to give us a guide on how to make the most of each season.  The recipes, gardening projects and home decor tips are meant to show us how to celebrate each season to its fullest and how to love the people in our lives by giving them our best in all things.

One of the things I missed the first time was a great recipe.  What I originally thought was meant to be a fancy, gourmet side for a celebration is now often on our weekday table.  Try Shaye Elliot's  "Spring Asparagus Bundles" recipe and you'll be glad you gave this book a second look.

When I can cook for my family using the best seasonal ingredients...we are all happy. The problem is remembering what works from one season to the next. I love cookbooks, have over 200 and this one makes an excellent addition to the ones I read regularly. I now have some new recipes and ideas to try on my willing family.

A lovely, inspiring book about life on a farm through the seasons, from food to gardening, crafts to rustic style. The photos are beautiful and the recipes healthy and seasonal. I only wish there were more recipes!

Shaye Elliott, blogger at The Elliott Homestead, shares a seasonal guide to rustic style and homegrown food in her latest book. Each season includes a list of what she's harvesting from her garden, interior design inspiration (textures/colors), floral and dining table arrangements, and of course, recipes. I like that she included simple DIY projects like aging terra cotta pots and creating a homemade terrarium and also had helpful home and garden tips listed throughout. She includes lovely food, family, and home photos throughout the book.
Overall, I enjoyed this extended look into her home but I wish more recipes were included. The focus is primarily on farmhouse/cottage decorating and entertaining rather than the food and homestead.
Seasons at the Farm is well written in the familiar style her blog readers have come to know and enjoy over the years and the book format is easy to follow by season.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
