On Highland Time is a promising start to the Time Weavers Inc. series. Although time travel is not one of the genres I read being that it was Lexi Post I requested it from Netgalley and I am glad I did. Great characters and a well developed plot made for a great read and makes me want to read more of this series as it is released.
I received a copy of this e-book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Diana is a time traveler, working with a small team for TWI, Time Weavers Inc. Their job is to go back in time after a Disturber has altered what happened in history and make it as it should have been. When a Disturber alters events, history of the world changes.
Diana's latest job is to go back to 1306 Scotland. A Disturber has saved the life of a man who was to die in battle against Comyn, and this changed the whole future. Diana is to make sure he dies in battle and to hopefully identify the Disturber and bring them back to be interrogated.
Torr is the man who is to die. He is a Laird of a small clan, loyal to Robert the Bruce. He has lost most of his family in battle, only having one younger brother left. He is unmarried and doesn't develop any
relationships because he doesn't feel he can lose another loved one. He does engage in sex but all the women know it will not go further, and rarely does he engage with the same woman more than once.
Diana arrived a few weeks before the battle and events started off all wrong. She usually keeps a low profile, making no friends or bringing attention to herself. Right away she is befriended and the Laird notices her.
Torr is looking for a possible spy so he notices all new faces, of which their are several. He and Diana are very attracted to one another which is not usual for either of them. He has invited Diana to his bed but she has refused as she has a job to do.
Diana is having a hard time, she finds Torr to be a good man with a big heart who is good to his clan and truly cares about them. He is a fair Laird.
Can Diana complete her task successfully?
I really enjoyed this story and thought the twist at the end was well done. It really completed the story.
I did have some questions in my mind about the Disturbers but that is just being me overly analytical I think. The story does come full circle. I think any Highland fan would like the book.
I really loved this story. It's start in a very intriguing way, makes readers want to read on. The rest of the book is just as good and doesn't disappoint at all. I loved all the characters. Story was great and little twists and turns kept it all the more interesting. It's a very hot historical time travel novel, which I enjoyed reading a lot.
What a twist of fate to find herself in the past having to ensure history happens the way it's supposed to but falling in love along the way and feeling conflicted to make sure he dies. Tough decision.
While the time travel genre is not my usual go to, I enjoyed this first book in Lexi Post’s new Time Weavers Inc. series - On Highland Time.
The story had a good plot, likeable and interesting characters, and kept my interest till the very end. Torr and Diana and an undeniable chemistry from the beginning, and the support cast made for some fun moments, away from all the serious stuff. I look forward to reading the next instalment and meeting more of these unique individuals.
Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced copy.
Diana is a member of a group called TWI, Timer Weavers Inc. When they are made aware of something that changed in the past, but wasn’t supposed to change, TWI steps in to put things back to normal. When Diana wakes up one day and her mansion is pretty much in the middle of a slum, the group knows that something in history changed. She gets instructions from the head of TWI to go back to medieval Scotland. Apparently a Scottish Laird, Torr MacPherson, was supposed to die, but didn’t, and this changed everything. There is another group that TWI calls Disruptors and they go around changing history. I had no clue by the end of the book why they disrupt anything, but I guess it’s job security for TWI.
Diana is sent back to 1306 Scotland where she is to ensure that the Laird does indeed die when he’s supposed to and to try to find out who the Disruptor is. She sets herself up as a relative of someone in the clan that had passed and tries to stay inconspicuous. Unfortunately, she catches the eye of the Laird and starts to have feelings for him and he for her. How can she ensure that he dies when she wants to spend the rest of her life with him? She can’t stay in 1306 Scotland as it will change the course of history forever.
This was a cute story that I enjoyed reading, to a point. When I first began reading I kept thinking that I was missing something because the way it was written made it seem like there was maybe a previous book in the series, but that’s not the case. Because I was a little lost the story didn’t flow well for me at first. I don’t think it was ever explained how exactly Diana’s boss, the elusive Jules who only speaks to Diana telepathically and who Diana has never met, knows exactly when in history the changes are made by the Disruptors. Diana woke up and saw her neighborhood was a slum. Ok, but how does Jules know exactly which point in history caused this to happen? I have no idea. There are also a couple of other characters in TWI that were unexplained. There was one guy, Arthur, who “downloaded” stuff into people’s brains. What? It was nuts, and frustrating to not know what was going on. Why were these people blindly following this person they’ve never met?
The romance between Diana and Torr was kind of sweet but Diana was worrying so much the entire time it was hard for me to enjoy it fully. Torr didn’t want to fall in love so that was a big obstacle. Then something happens near the end of the book (that I can’t tell you about) and Torr gets so incredibly pissed at Diana I thought it was over. Of course I would have been pissed at her too, so I felt his pain. Unfortunately he got over being pissed way too quickly for me – I would have liked to have seen him take more time to think things over. IDK, maybe it was just me.
Overall not a bad book but there was too much of the unknown for my liking. I needed answers to a lot of questions by the time I ended this book.

On Highland Time features a modern woman employed by an organization seeking to stop "Disruptors" from travelling back in time and adversely impacting history as we know it. In this opening book in the series, our heroine, Diana, is sent back to the Scottish Highlands to ensure that laird Torr MacPherson dies in battle, inspiring Robert the Bruce to continue his fight for Scottish independence. But Diana does not realize how difficult this assignment will become as she comes to know the clan and its people, particularly Torr himself.
I really, really wanted to like this book. The characters are well-drawn and likable, and the descriptions of the stronghold and its idyllic setting are vivid and stunning. Unfortunately, many aspects of the time travel element of the story and the travelers' abilities are awkward and not well=planned. The relationship between Diana and Jules is never fully addressed--Diana seems compelled to obey Jules' directives, yet the entire organization operates from Diana's home so why is there such an imbalance of power? What is the Disruptors' ultimate motivation? It is clear that this is not Diana's first assignment and that others in the organization have been operating for some time as well--have they learned nothing from those missions? In addition, without giving away any spoilers, the ending pertaining to the MacPherson clan seemed implausible in the extreme. While there is much to like in this novel with its strong characters and lively plot, the execution just falls flat.
I really wanted to enjoy Diana and Torr's story, but the writing just wasn't up to par with the books I normally read. I love a good time travel and the premise of the story reminded me of Timeless, one of my favorite shows. Unfortunately, there were several times when I wanted to put the book down because it just wasn't holding my attention. I'm iffy on whether I would read another by this author, so I guess I'll see what she comes up with next and make a decision then.
I loved the connection between Diana and Torr! The pacing of this book is spot on, and makes for a truly delightful read.
I enjoy time travel books into the past but this one was just okay. It didn't do very well as a stand alone. I feel I need to go back to the beginning to have answers to a lot of an answered things, such as how and why people could travel through time, and an explanation of people's special gifts. The book seemed rushed and full of holes. I did like the time frame and the premise of the story. Series has promise.

Welcome to Time Weavers, Inc., where the agents have the power to travel in time to fix ripples caused by the Disruptors. Diana Montgomery is a TWI agent with a mission to make sure Laird Torr MacPherson, of the Clan MacPherson, dies in battle. A Disruptor has saved his life, and has caused a backlash of epic proportions in the future. Thinking this will be a routine assignment, Diana isn’t prepared for the kind hearted giant of a man who welcomes her not only into his Clan, but his bed as well. Laird MacPherson has vowed to never love anyone, but when he sets his eyes on the new lass that has requested sanctuary in his clan, he’s left wondering if he will be able to keep that vow. Diana and Torr are faced with hard choices that will forever impact the future of not only their lives, but the lives of future descendants. Will Diana throw caution to the wind, and save her gentle giant that she has grown to love? Or will she allow history to play out as it should and allow him to pass on to the hereafter…“You own my heart, lass. Without you, I am truly dead.”
On Highland Time is the first in a series, and like with all new installments, we the readers are hit with a lot of information. But once the rules of time travel and the powers the TWI agents have are put in motion, readers can set back and enjoy the adventure and romance as told On Highland Time.
Lexi Post has written a dream come true for this reader! Love overcomes all obstacles in this historical romance, and I already can’t wait for the next installment!! Highly recommend!
Here’s a cheat sheet of the Rules for Time Weavers, Inc., (TWI) Agents:
Rule One: Don’t change history; only change it back.
Rule Two: Never travel back to a period and place already visited.
Rule Three: Travel no more than once a day.
Rule Four: Do not hint at anything in the future.
Rule Five: Do not make friends.
On Highland Time is a phenomenal time travel romance by Lexi Post. Ms. Post has once again delivered a book that is well-written, fun to read and stands out in it's genre. The cast of characters in this book is extraordinary, I love them. Diana is an agent for Time Weavers and travels in time to repair history to what it should be before it was changed by Disruptors. She travels back in time to the Scottish Highlands. Torr is the MacPherson laird and must die in the upcoming battle for history to not be changed. Torr and Diana's story is loaded with suspense, action, humor and sizzle. On Highland time hooked me at page one and I enjoyed every page and I look forward to my next book by Lexi Post. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I didn't enjoy On Highland Time as much as I wanted to. I love time travel romance books but I really struggled with this one. I didn’t enjoy the time travel aspect that the author created in this book. The main heroine, Diana, is a member of TWI, a time travelling organization that fixes time disruptions caused by other time travelers, called Disruptors. Disruptors travel back in time to change events in the past in order to change the future. This is an interesting premise that unfortunately wasn't well executed. On the one hand, there was a lot of infodumping in the beginning of the book, when the author introduces the idea of Time Weavers and Disruptors. And on the other hand, the whole idea is not well developed and just messy. For example, some of the members of TWI, in addition to having time travelling gene, have extra abilities: Arthur can "download" information, including language, to other people brains with just his look (how convenient!), Jules can communicate telepathically with other members, and Javier has the ability to sense muscle triggers (what does it even mean?)
Also, it seemed to me that the author really wanted to make sure that her readers never forgot how big and muscly the main hero, Torr, is. I lost count of how many times we were told that Torr has such thick thighs, bulging biceps, huge shoulders, and muscles all over. I would wager that there was a mention of Torr's muscles on every other page. I was rolling my eyes constantly!
On Highland Time was not the best Highlander time travel romance I've read. If there are any more books planned to make it a series, I won't be reading them
Captivating tale full of suspense and heart
I will say right from the start that I am not a huge fan of historicals or time travel. Most I have tried to read the authors try too hard, focusing on minute details that do not affect the story or characters trying to bring the background of the story to life but leaving the plot choppy and unsatisfying and the characters boring. I usually end up stopping before I get halfway through the read. With that said, I truly enjoy Lexi Post’s writing style. It is a fresh approach you do not see every day with intriguing twists on classic stories and poems. She brings them to life with her talent weaving layers of mystery, suspense and romance into the tale and giving added depth to the characters. On Highland Time is no different. The descriptions of the beautiful Scottish scenery, the comradery of the clan, the tension filled air as they ready for battle, the strength and loyalty of the characters, the heart pounding suspense as the mystery unfolds and the sexy chemistry that simmers between Diana and Torr will pull you in to this unique story and hold your interest. There are smiles, laughter, tears, worry, angst, turmoil, deep bonds of friendship and loyalty, compassion and a soul-deep love that crosses time. And let us not forget the charming, sexy Scottish Highlanders who know how to treat a lady in any time. Just WOW! This book is a win-win all around and you will be cheating yourself out of a good story if you do not give it a try.
