This was a very enjoyable read. While not what I would classify as a thriller, more suspense if anything, it will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The characters were well thought out and both very relatable. I found the plot to be original, which sometimes with these types of books can be hard.
I wouldn't say this book is great but it is well written and I think readers will really enjoy it.
I was provided a free advance copy of For Better and Worse by Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
How far would you go to protect your child? Is there ever truly “a kind worth killing?” This book doesn’t necessarily answer these questions, but definitely makes you consider them- and keeps twisting and turning until the very last page.
I honestly didn’t know what to expect with this book. When I first started reading it, I got an “All We Ever Wanted” vibe, but as I continued on, it was so much different!
Nat and Will met in law school, got married, both have their own law practices (Nat, a criminal defense attorney, and Will, in real estate), and now an 11-year old son, Charlie. Their marriage has hit a “ho-hun” phase, where they do things as a family for the sake of Charlie, but their marriage seems to be a little lackluster.
Things don’t get made any easier when Charlie confesses to something that happened at a school field trip. Suddenly, Nat and Will are off on their own trying hard to protect their son.
I really can’t say anymore than that- this book, told in alternating voices between Nat and Will, will be one you won’t want to put down!
I strongly suggest this for those who were fans of “The Kind Worth Killing” or “All We Ever Wanted.”
I would give this book 4/5 stars!
For Better and Worse by Margot Hunt is really one of a kind. Natalie and Will are college sweethearts, both lawyers, and on their first date they think they can plan the perfect murder. Fast forward 15 years. After years of an unhappy marriage, but holding it together for their 10 year old son, Charlie, the principal at Charlie's school is arrested for an unspeakable crime. When Charlie finally confides in his mom, that he too is one of the principals victims, Natalie thinks the only way to fix this is murder. Will is brought into this, not really willingly, and when the police start to piece their evidence, it becomes pretty clear things that seem perfect aren't usually perfect after all.
The ending will surprise you, as you are reading, just keep in mind things don't always play out as they seem they will. Was justice served? Maybe...
I really enjoyed this book. It keeps the reader interested, you will have a love/hate relationship with the main characters, but you need to see how it ends. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was a very enjoyable read...it was fast paced and had a lot of twists and turns. I would recommend it to anyone who loves thrillers and suspense. I received a free copy from NetGalley and the publisher for a fair and honest review.
4.25/5 stars
How many times have you made the comment ‘if someone ever did that to my kid I’d kill them!’? Not really planning on ever needing to act on it.
When the unthinkable happens to Charlie, Nat knows what she needs to do. As an attorney, she knows how to do it, but can she get her husband on board? This is a story of loving parents, a marriage gone stale, vigilante justice and a small town judicial system. Not to mention lies, gossip and taking matters into your own hands. But, can they get away with it? Will things change? Where does it stop?
This book is a page turner. Yes, you can pick out some holes in the story but it’s a fast paced read that will leave you shaking your head! Characters are interesting, not necessarily likable, yet somewhat relatable. Small town setting, gossip included, spot on.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC. Opinion is my own. Reviewed on Goodreads and BookBub. Will review on Amazon on review date.

I had read the author's previous book and was really excited to see that she had a new book out. I was really thrilled tp be approved for this title.
This book deals with a horrific situation for any parent - finding out that your child has been abused by a person in authority and even worse, a person who is a family friend. What would one do if the justice system fails us? This is the predicament this family is faced with. They are forced to find a way to deal with it. This book was nail-bitingly tense and kept me on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed it and flew through it.
I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good psychological thriller.
This was a great psychological thriller. I enjoyed it. There were so many twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Wow, such a great read! This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I wanted to like Natalie, and in some parts I really did like her. Her character came across as a very loving mother, but at the same time she had a coldness to others that seemed to really just seem to be the opposite side of her personality. There were twists that I just didn’t see coming up until the end of the book. I don’t want to give away any spoilers! It’s so such an engrossing book that I would recommend it to anyone looking for a book that will take them through some twists and turns!
I received a copy of “For Better or Worse” by Margot Hunt via Netgalley and this is my review.
The title grabbed me before I even read the book and it really suits the story perfectly. Having been married for 33 years I can tell you there are things we have learned about each other that we never in 1 million years thought existed. This is a story about what it’s like to deal with terrible issues in a marriage, issues that will make you or break you, and still have to maintain a relationship. Either way you’ll never come out the same. I think the author did a great job really delving into what it’s like to deal with a heartbreaking situation as a couple. I would definitely recommend this book !
I did not like this book. I didn't like the writing, didn't connect with the characters and it just wasn't for me.
This is a book about a married couple, both lawyers but with different specialties, who discover their son was molested by an old friend who was also their sons school principal. Instead of dealing with the situation properly, the wife comes up with a plan to murder the principal, while making it look like suicide. Of course things go wrong and the husband actually kills the principal in a manner that can't be mistaken for suicide. The plot continues on with them continuing to get away with murder while protecting their son. I enjoyed the story and thought the ending was interesting.
I received this book from NetGalley in return for a review.
This has been on my shelf a little while now, and today was the day I got round to reading it.
I always find reading anything where children are hurt really difficult and this was no exception.
It was, however an excellent read. I didn’t really like Will and I felt Natalie was an absolute control freak, but I really liked the way this was written, and I found it difficult to put down.
The one thing that stopped me giving 5 stars was the ridiculous ending! So far fetched it was unimaginable! I love the escapism that reading brings, but this took it to a whole new level!
Would still recommend, and I did enjoy it, but it did spoil it for me.
Will and Natalie meet in college where both are studying to be lawyers. They marry and have a son Charlie. A boy in Charlie's school accuses the principal of molesting him. It turns out maybe the boy is lying but then Will and Natalie find out Charlie was alone with the principal, Robert Gibbons, who used to be good friends with them before his wife divorced him. Natalie questions Charlie and finds out that Robert did indeed molest him. From there until the end of the book, there are lots of surprises that come to light with a real surprising ending. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received an advanced copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! It was definitely a book that kept you thinking! I would definitely recommend this book to fellow readers. Thank you!
For Better and Worse by Margot Hunt
I received this book as an advanced e-reader copy for my honest review. Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin for the opportunity to read this!
To kill or not to kill.
I found this book to be a quite entertaining read. The story line was unique and kept me very well engaged. The story follows Natalie and Will Clarke as they navigate the difficulties of learning that their son’s school principle has been accused of sexual misconduct and that their son has, indeed, been a victim. Told in alternating viewpoints between Natalie and Will, you get a feel for how they both process the repercussions of their actions.
I found Natalie to be fairly relatable. She is a defense attorney who has done well for herself and a doting mother. The only thing I didn’t find believable was how she seemed so calm and collected throughout the book, even when we were seeing things her point of view. I feel like someone in her position would have been a bit erratic and emotional at times. Will I found completely annoying. He seemed whiny and petulant throughout the entire book. I just couldn’t relate to him. But maybe that was the intention of the author. His reaction and behavior, opposite of Natalie, was very relatable and how I would expect someone to be given the circumstances. It just seemed that there was no OFF button to it.
Overall, I would recommend this book and am very glad I read it. I look forward to more stories from Margot Hunt.
This is the first book I’ve read from Margot Hunt and I really enjoyed the story. Margot did an excellent job of creating believable characters and giving us an interesting story from difficult subject matter.
Natalie and Will maneuver their way through life after learning of the abuse of their son...and taking matters into their own hands. I liked that both of their point of views were used to tell the story.
I was given an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
This one really took a very bold storyline and couldn’t completely pull it off. The book starts out is very grounded and we fiction, but eventually beers into what the fuck did I just read territory. Just meh
"Some people just need killing."
ooh, i do love a good murder. who doesn't love a good murder?
this was well-written and excellently paced, and it was nearly a 5 star read except that i thought it would have worked better if the set-up was more of an agatha christie-style murder mystery, rather than following nat and will's point of views. still, Hunt managed to keep the novel very suspenseful even when we did know who the murderer was, so kudos for that!
This book really took me in from the first chapter! The switching point of views was a great necessity to being able to follow the character's storylines. I thought the legal aspect of the book was descriptive and the details were well thought out. I will definitely be recommending this novel to my book club and friends/family! Thank you to the author and to Netgalley for the chance to read and give honest feedback.

What I Loved: can't say I loved too much about this.
What I liked: I'm a solid Meh on this one.
What I hated: I didn't actually hate anything about this either.
I thought this was going to be a thriller, but it didn't real thrill me. It wrapped up way to easily. And the ending left me feeling completely Meh.
