Once again Melody Anne provides an intriguing story in the undercover billionaire series!. Arden Forbes, the billionaire, dedicated teacher shows his protective nature when new high school principal Keera Thompson is caught up in the middle of several violent high school break-ins. Keera thought she had left her troubling past behind her when she took this new position as high school principal. But a series of break-ins proves that her past troubles are back. Keera is not used to having to rely on others for help but Arden proves to her that he is there to stay and the chemistry between the two is explosive. There are more unanswered questions centered around Keera's past that hopefully will be resolved in the next story.
Arden, the title character, isn’t really undercover. He’s a teacher whose family just happens to be rich, but everyone knows that about him. The whole town knows about his family, but the reader doesn’t since we’re never told where their money comes from, just that he’s wealthy, but chose to be a high school teacher and football coach in their small town.
The real plot complications involve the sexy principal, Keera Thompson, who clearly has a mysterious past that she’s hiding. When Arden’s brother, who happens to be an FBI agent in their small town - that’s never explained, tells him that their are drugs in the high school and gives him a retired canine agent to help solve the mystery, Arden is on the case. Because the FBI always turns over drug crimes in a high school over to an untrained teacher. Arden and Keera spend a lot of time wandering the empty building of the school, alternately being attracted to one another while undercovering clues to the mystery.
There were just so many irritating details in this book. Police and FBI agents don’t act like they would in real life. It wasn’t believable that such a young woman would have been given the job as principal even in this small town. Even when we find out what was behind all the mysterious happenings at the school, it was still pretty unsatisfying with several holes in the whole thing.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
I received an arc from Netgalley. While this book was not my absolute favorite I really enjoyed the genuine characters and the family aspect of the story.
Arden and Keera have a beautiful story that should be shared. Melody is a fantastic author and her books have such an ease to them.
Arden Forbes although a billionaire is a man of principle who wants to give back to society, as a school teacher he more than does this, enter Kiera the new school principle who Arden is attracted to but has kept his distance feeling wasn't ready for any permanent relationship. His brother a police officer gives him the heads up that they are investigating a possible drug supply ring at the school, to help him he introduces him to Max a retired police sniffer dog to take to the school to help, Arden is not happy about Max, which leads to some great scenes between them.
Keene has had a terrible time in her past and feels everyone will judge her if they knew. Unfortunately her past catches up with her and her life is in danger.
Their relationship developed at a great pace, and they are a great couple, Arden is a fantastic character and his love for Kiera is deep and beautiful.
A really good enjoyable book
My thanks to net galley and publisher for opportunity to review this book.
Arden is the second book in the Undercover Billionaires series written by author Melody Anne. Thanks to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for the advance copy.
Arden was the first book of the series that I have read and it was an amazing book!
Melody Anne is one of my fav authors and she always delivers a page turner. Arden was no different.
Arden is part of the Forbes brothers who are infamous around their town. He's a high school teacher as well as football coach for the school. He loves his job even though he doesn't need to work another day in his life.
When his high school gets a new principal he can't help but take notice. She's a beautiful woman but when things start happening in the school he immediately becomes suspicious. His brother Declan, hands him Max, a retired police dog to help him with his investigation. I loved Max, he had me smiling and sometimes laughing with his antics throughout the book.
Keera loves her job as principal and takes it very seriously. When it seems her past has come to catch up with her and haunt her at her new school, she doesn't know what to do. But finds herself drawn to Arden and Max.
This book was a great romantic suspense and I loved every minute of it. The chemistry between the characters just jumps off the pages and I love how Max is always there too. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
Good story from an author I have followed for some time. The characters are likeable and the story has a different and credible slant.
The book was sooooo painfully boring it was like having to pull teeth. I literally had to force myself to get through it to even start writing this review. The cover is hot but the story was dreadfully boring. I fell asleep so many times and if I wasnt dozing, I was yawning.
I felt very little chemistry between the hero and heroine. Honestly, I saw more chemistry between Max and Arden.
I cant say I even liked it. Disappointed in this book
Arden by author Melody Anne is the second movie in the Undercover Billionaire series. We didn't read the first book in the series before reading Arden, but we do enjoy Melody Anne's writing so we want to read Kian for sure!
We did find that Arden never really took off for us. We found ourselves skimming over parts of the story instead of diving into it! We felt like there wasn't a great development in the characters or the story.
Although I did not read the first book, Arden captivated me so much, I already bought the first book too. I cannot wait to read Kian's story. This book had mystery, had suspense, romance and humor. So it had everything that can make a book perfect. I recommend it. If you love a good romance mystery, this is definitely the book you need. I love Melody Ann.
Romantic suspense following super hot, Mr Nice Guy, billionaire history teacher, Arden Forbes as he gets to know the new headteacher Keera Thompson. They work together to try and figure out if someone is trying to kill Keera, and if there’s an actual drugs ring in their sleepy town. Whilst I thought the story had lots of potential, I couldn’t gel particularly with Keera, maybe it was because she didn’t fall for the goodness, and the hotness, that was Arden Forbes, how could she not trust him? I found some of the dialogue and the sexy scenes to be a bit cheesy in places, so much so that I was inwardly cringing. I did however love retired police dog Max, and the scenes that included him were cute and funny. All together a good read, with some great twists and turns. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This is a good solid read. This book is a romance with a mystery mixed in the plot. Arden and Keera are two strong characters. I can't wait for the next installment in this series.
I love a suspenseful romance. Keera Thompson is the new high school principal. Arden Forbes is a well liked teacher and football coach. When Arden finds out there are drugs in his beloved school he promises to get to the bottom of it. He is given a retired police dog by his brother Declan to help with the mission. Max is like a person which bothers Arden. As time goes on and more and more is revealed about Keera’s past the pieces start to fall into place as her life starts to crumble again. This book will keep you on your toes until the every end. I hope Declan and Angela are next.
This was good story and a great plot. I enjoyed the characters and I look forward to the next book! I def want to read more about Arden’s brothers!
I love the fact that even though Arden is a billionaire he is just a regular guy. Come on how can you not love the fact that he is not only a school teacher but also the football couch. The Forbes men are something else with all being down to earth regular guys. I love this family I really do. There is a bit of mystery that surrounds Keera. She may be the principle but you just can feel that there is something going on. It doesn't take much for the sizzle to build between Arden and Keera once they are thrown into finding out what is going on within the school. I love how protective Arden is from the very beginning when it comes down to the threats on Keera. Be prepared for the secrets to come out and a few twists along the way. This is an amazing read. I have yet to come across a Melody Anne book that I can't put down. Seriously so good.
***Arc received from Netgalley in exchange for honest review***
I'm a long time Melody Anne fan. To date I've read 29 of her books and loved everyone one of them. Her latest book Arden however, just didn't work for me. I just couldn't get past the billionaire teacher story line. I'm not quite sure why the romance industry is so obsessed with billionaires lately. Like millionaires and multi-millionaires aren't good enough? What's next trillionaires? The dialogue, character development, romance/steam level were great but the story line seemed forced.
I received an ARC via Netgalley for an honest review.
Arden Forbes is a billionaire who has a job teaching in a high school. He is very dedicated to his job and loves his work. Keera Thompson is the new principal at the school and things start happening after she arrives. After drugs are found in the school more and more secrets are revealed, bad guys come out of the woodwork and of course there is plenty of steam.
I am a diehard Melody Anne fan. I’ve loved her billionaire romance stories and read them as soon as they are released. I loved Kian, the first book in this series very much. That being said, I didn’t enjoy this one as much. It took me longer than normal to read and felt like something was missing from her usual story telling. This was a mix of romance and mystery and while I’m not a fan of mystery plots this one worked well. It just didn’t wow me like her previous books have. Also I’m definitely not a fan of cliffhangers at all. As stated I am a big fan and won’t let this one stop me from reading the next one and look forward to what happens next in this series.
Arden tells Kiera and Arden’s story. Their story not only includes romance, but also mystery and danger. Their love was solidified by the end, but the mystery wasn’t completely unraveled. I suspect that we will have to wait for the next book in the series for that to be resolved.
I liked the storyline and the mystery. Arden, for being a billionaire, is just a regular good guy, who wants to do his part and give back, and is also a (hunky) teacher.
Keera, who is the new school principal, has a past she wants to keep hidden, but of course it follows her.
Quite a twisty plot surrounding her, and Arden is there for her all the way, which I feel she didn't always appreciate, but her past did make it hard for her to trust. I felt the book reiterated that a bit too much, as I got that the first few times.
I loved Max, a retired service dog, who was the smartest, loveable furbaby and made the story.
I received an ARC thru Netgalley and am giving my voluntary honest opinion.
This book captured my heart instantly because there is something I love about men whose primary nature is to protect and defend the people they care about. Keera is a school principal who has barely been in the town for a month before things start to go wrong.
Arden is a sports coach and his brother apprises him of a tip that something is not quite right in the school which also ends up being a sneaky ploy to get Arden to adopt a police dog called Max. I’m calling it now, Max is mine. His actions with Arden and how they are completely opposite to his actions with Keera made me laugh so many times. There is something very special about the bond between a human and an animal. A bond that is not to be taken for granted.
The school has a drug problem which in a sinister way links to Keera. This mystery is a plotline that goes through the entire story and whatever you think it may be, you’re probably off track. I was expecting one element of it but not the rest. The true reasoning about Keera being in the job and who brought her there and why they did are secrets you get to uncover.
The sexual tension and chemistry between Keera & Arden is off the charts, I want myself an Arden, or even any of the Forbes, I am not fussy. The family unit in the Forbes family is something I’m so envious of, this book has it all; tension, romance, drama, heartache and family. I genuinely would recommend to everyone. You don’t even have to have read the first book but I think you should because you’d miss out on another amazing story if you didn’t.
