This was my first time reading this author, and it won't be my last. It had the perfect combination of romance and suspense.

The hero, Arden, is a billionaire working as a high school history teacher. Keera, the heroine, is his new principal. This sounded like catnip to me and I’m a huge Melody Anne fan. Unfortunately, this book fell a little flat for me.

Mostly I had a hard time buying into the plot. I’ll give you an example that is slightly spoiler-ish. Arden’s brother, a cop, shows up at his apartment in chapter one and announces to Arden that there is a huge drug problem at the high school. He gives Arden a drug sniffing dog and tells Arden to take the dog to school. That would never happen in a school without permission. The same night, Arden is listening to the scanner and hears about a break-in at the school. He traipses over there with new dog in tow. That is where he finds the heroine, Keera, shaken up following an attack in her office. He then announces that there is a drug problem at the school and he’s taking his new dog and searching the school for drugs. Wouldn’t the police do that? They were there, having been called following the break-in. It was just weird and I couldn’t buy in.

That being said, I think Melody Anne is a great author and I would definitely recommend trying her out even if this book is not my favorite.

I normally really like Melody Anne’s books. She does billionaire romance like no one else. This cross between a mystery and romance is not quite as good for me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still well written but I’m not a fan of the cliffhanger.

Keera hasn’t been in town for long. She’s the new principal at the high school but has some secrets she’s hiding. When someone breaks into her office, the police are called. Arden is a billionaire but the history teacher and football coach. His brother is with the FBI and got a tip of drugs being dealt at the school. He gives Arden a retired police dog, Max, so he can sniff out the drugs. Arden doesn’t believe Keera has anything to do with the drugs but she is hiding something. When her apartment is broken into and trashed, Arden convinces her to come stay with him. Arden is falling hard for Keera but she isn’t the most trusting person and it takes a while to trust Arden. Even though she is very much attracted to him and the one time they had sex, it blew her mind. Someone has put a contract out on Keera and Arden and Max will do anything to keep her safe.
So much suspense. Edge of your seat. Very sexy scenes that’ll leave you needing a cold shower. A woman who when she gets knocked down, picks herself up and dusts herself off. A handsome man who’s rich but still teaches because he loves helping kids. Just a slight cliffhanger. I can’t wait to see who’s story is next.

Confusing, dramatic and very far fetched story. I didn't really like it. Felt like I was missing something.

I have genuinely enjoyed Melody Anne's various romance series, and really liked the first novel in this new series, so I was hoping that would extend to 'Arden'. Unfortunately, I just wasn't pulled into this story, and it took me almost a week to finish, rather than my regular 1-2 days. I felt that some of the writing was repetitive, and that not much happened between the MCs before one was internally claiming they loved the other and were never going to let go (something mentioned at least 15 times, hence the repetitive writing claim). Additionally, one of the secondary characters was injured and then never mentioned in the story again! I did like Max, the heroic canine companion.

I am hoping the next book in the series will be better, as I absolutely loved all the secondary characters, and the potential couples that were hinted at.

I found this book to be somewhat preachy and the relationship between Keera and Arden hard to believe in. Arden is a wealthy individual but works as a high school history teacher and Keera is his new Principal. Her background is not believable and I really had to work hard to finish this book. The premise of Arden being an undercover billionaire is a lie as it states in the very beginning that he is known to be a wealthy member of the Forbes family. I was given a free ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

No one would guess that dedicated teacher Arden Forbes is a billionaire. His profession gives him a purpose that wealth alone can’t provide. He’s developing another passion, too, for Keera Thompson, the new principal. She’s beautiful, enigmatic, guarded, and after a series of violent school break-ins need of protection. And Arden is eager to supply it. But what he wants most is to unearth the mysteries that surround her. After a troubling past, Keera thought she’d be safe in this sleepy town and that she’d never be shaken again. Yet nothing has unsettled Keera more than her desire for Arden. When I started reading I couldn't put it down I read the book in one day.Melody is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of her books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.

I'm normally a huge fan of Melody Anne's books and recommend her frequently to our store customers. And I really went into this one fully expecting to love it also, but the story never took off. I found myself skimming over parts and hoping for more development but it never came. Story had potential, but parts were obvious from the get go and it felt rushed instead of the usual developed story. That being said, I still love her work and will look forward to the next one- maybe I'm just spoiled and expect awesome each time! :)

Keera has moved to a small town to get away from her past and enjoys being the principal at the local high school. Unfortunately soon after she arrives several sinister incidents occur making her question her decision. Arden is a dedicated teacher at the school who teaches because he loves making a difference. Keera brings out the protector in Arden and as they get closer things get more complicated. Enjoyable romance with a mystery component too.
