Immediately you are thrown into the action following the main character, Jack. Which leaves you wondering what is happening and why. Admittedly, was kind of fun though! You also are introduced to Jill and Clare. Then, Holden. In the beginning there is quite a bit of guesswork, but as you move through the book some questions are answered. The excerpt that I was provided gave just enough story to really whet my appetite.
The main characters are very unique, each with unusual skill sets. Their back and forth banter is a little too expected... but still fun. The banter does get a little less annoying the further along in the book you get.
Although, while I do want to continue reading, it did feel a little hurried. Incredibly fast paced, if you will. I am curious to see if the pace slows for more detail. There were quite a few gaps that I had to fill in on my own.

After having finished Liars' Paradox, I will have to admit that I like it considerably more. While the excerpt really caught my attention, the rest of the story held it. I found myself enjoying the main characters more. Not to mention, loving the action. Finishing this book moved it from a three-star review to a four-star. While I do feel that there could have been a little more world building, I understand why there was not. The main focus is the story line, not what is going on around it. Adding more detail could have easily taken away from that.
In the end, I would be more than happy to continue reading this series.
A book that deserves to catch on with readers! A lot of good and unique here! See review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2480677633
I love this book, characters were well developed. The plot had many twist and turns. Great read., cannot wait for the next book..
I really like the preview and can't wait for the complete book to be available. Nice action and quite suspenseful, I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the story.
This was not a full copy of the book, so there is no way to provide a review. However, I was intrigued by the excerpt provided and would read the full copy.
I was not able to finish this book due to life obligations. I will not be reviewing. What I did read was excellent, so 5 stars it is!
This was not a full copy of the book. No way to review it. It was quite disappointing since I love Taylor Steven's work.
The book excerpt from #NetGalley and #KensingtonBooks was just confusing.
Jack, 26, kidnaps Jill (no age) while she's having relations with another man. After he knocks her out, half clothed, he tosses her into his car trunk so he can bring her to some mysterious person named Clare. So begins this story, set in Austin, Texas.
And that's supposed to whet the appetite for more. But, it only leaves more questions.
So I can't honestly give a full review here because I have no idea who are Jack and Jill, this being my first book by Taylor Stevens, and why Clare wants to see them.
This is why I hate reading exerts - I’m already so invested in this story and need to know what happens!
So much mystery in the story, and to have read an exrract, have no idea what’s going on and yet still want to read the book this much has got to be a good thing!
Can’t wait for this to be published, will definitely keep my eye out for it.
I was a bit confused when my kindle suddenly said that I had only 1 mins left in the book. I actually started over and re-read the pages that I had. I can't say that I was sucked into the story and already wondered in these few pages if I would actually manage to finish it.
I think I will give it another shot when the full book is available but so far I can give the book only 2 stars.
I want to thank Kesington Editions and netgalley for this partnership.
The story tells us two twins who live in hiding: Jack & Jill, their mother is their mentor she taught them everything: to hide, to hunt even to spy. When one day their mother Clare disappears they will do everything to find her.
A thriller filled with suspense and twists with endearing characters. I loved the script: read book in one go.
This book wasn’t what i expected and i was a bit disappointed but i still recommended to a few readers who i thought would enjoy such genre and i got amazing feedback! So keep it up and believe writing can get better with practice.
Best of luck!
This is a good start but it’s only a little bit of the story. I’d love to see how the rest of the book is and I look forward to reading it.
this is the beginning of what seems to be a very good book. I have read all of Taylor Stevens books and they are all worth a read waiting for July for the rest of the book! I am so looking forward to it
was very disappointed it was a limited page turner. story was great. kept me wanting to read more. would have loved to finishing reading this book.
I am rather glad that I just received an excerpt of Liar's Paradox.
The premise was enticing. Two twins that spent their lives off the grid because crazy mother thought they were in danger. But when they try to live normal lives, they find out their mother was right all along.
The first few chapters are written in short sentencing. I assume this gives a sense of urgency but for me this gave me no meat to get into. I couldn't get into the characters or understand the basic plot. So in the end this isn't the kind of book for me.
Loved the excerpt that I got this far, very engrossing and actually upsetting because I couldn't read anymore! Looking forward to the rest, but wondering if we need to request again or just check back mid July?
Excerpt from: Liars’ Paradox
Part of a novel by Taylor Stevens
Wow!
Now, I could leave my comments on "Liars' Paradox" at that. Or rather the three-chapter excerpt the publisher, Kensington Press, and NetGalley are sending around. Just that one word expresses my astonishment, awe, admiration for the author, and enjoyment of this "trailer." However, that wouldn't be fair to the reader of this review, and so I want to tell you of the high octane, 150 proof adrenaline that fairly jumps off every one of the pages. It is not just an "unputdownable, non-stop action, high energy" read! It is vicious, body slamming fiction from beginning to end. So, put away that tame stuff about Jack Reacher, Lucas Davenport, Stone Barrington and Court Gentry! Prepare to meet the new kids on the block, the bare knuckles tag-team champion duo of Jack and Jill. They are brother and sister, they hate each other, and mama Clare has called them home. Home to the Earthship, where they trained and bled and trained to razor sharpness. Home to demanding, paranoid mama and her Hill Country fortress . . .
Yes, I loved it. And wish my copy of the complete novel could arrive a bit sooner. But, couldn't someone correctly format the text? Words jammed together, poorly constructed sentences and not one standard paragraph in the whole thing made reading a chore.
Disappointed this was only a 30 page preview. From what I read not sure if I would go forward and purchase the novel
I wish this was a full version. I read only excerpt and was enjoying it very much, but I am very frustrated that I cannot read on!!
