If you are looking for a way to disciple the young girl in your life, this book is an excellent resource. Winter writes as a big sister, sharing her personal stories growing up, and offers words of encouragement along the way. She is definitely a positive light in the midst of darkness. I highly recommend this book for all girls aged 8-12.
Gods Girl Says Yes was a wonderful book for me to share with my young daughters. It helped me to approach topics I otherwise would not know how to bring up and helped me be more intentional in teaching my daughters the importance of being a Gods Girl!
This book is a study on the fruits of the spirit, and each fruit gets its own chapter. But first, Wynter lays a solid five-step foundation:
1. An offer of friendship with the tween girl, like an older, wiser sister
2. The fact that God has chosen this girl for special purposes, and she needs to choose Him too
3. How to say yes to God by loving and trusting in Him
4. Saying yes to a relationship with God, and practical suggestions for how to cultivate one
5. Saying yes to God’s offer for help as she begins bearing spiritual fruit
I love that She can connect to tweens like no other author can. Using personal stories that actually connect with girls today. I love that she talks about the fruits of the spirit and what it looks like to live that out.
Wynter Pitts wrote such a beautiful book for girls. I love her writing style as she mentors her reader like a Titus 2 Godly woman. The personal stories deepen the connection between reader and writer. This book will always be special to me and I look forward to sharing it with my daughters and other young girls so they can learn and grow in their faith.
Beautifully crafted book with a spiritual message that is helpful. The lessons or messages included are well chosen. It is even interactive with areas to write thoughts to help with discussions. Bible verses fit well too with the chapters, messages or lessons included throughout the book. When reading we are reminded we all make mistakes, but we have God to help us throughout our lives to help us.
God's Girl Says Yes crossed my path at exactly the right time. I was looking for resources to help my 9 and 10-year-old daughters develop a close, personal relationship with Jesus, and I stumbled upon this book. It was an answer to my prayers because it sets out to do exactly that: teach young girls what it means to follow Jesus and how they can choose to say 'yes' to Him.
Wynter Pitt's conversational tone is perfect for tween girls. When I read this aloud to my daughters, they enjoyed the personal stories and laughed at the funny parts. They understood what she was talking about and were interested in hearing what she had to say because she established a rapport with them and made them feel like she was their friend.
God's Girls Says Yes could be used as a devotional, a family read-aloud, or as the basis for deeper study of God's promises to us. It has sixteen chapters. The first five cover what it means to be chosen (set apart) by God, and how we can choose to enter into a relationship with Him. The next nine each deal with a fruit of the Spirit and how we can also choose to let God grow inside of us and bring those fruits to bear in our lives.
Wynter seamlessly weaves together personal anecdotes, Bible stories, journaling activities, prayers, examples of other children who've said 'yes' to God, and scripture verses for sowing these messages in our daughters' hearts.
At 141 pages, this is a fairly light read, and one that kids could read on their own if they wanted to. The content is certainly digestible for this age range. However, I think there is much to be gained from reading this one together and using it to start discussions with the preteen girl in your life about what it really looks like to say 'yes' to Jesus.
[Disclosure: I received an advance digital copy of this book for review purposes. All opinions are my own.]
Are you looking for a faith-building book for your tween girl? God’s Girl Says Yes is an excellent choice for girls between the ages of 8 and 12 years. It would also make a great Bible study for an adult to lead with a Sunday school class or small group with tween girls.
Wynter Pitts writes in a friendly, casual voice that tween girls like my 9-year-old daughter enjoy. She shares stories of her own childhood with details that appeal to girls’ sensibilities. I like the fact that she approaches girls with humility and kindness.

1. An offer of friendship with the tween girl, like an older, wiser sister
2. The fact that God has chosen this girl for special purposes, and she needs to choose Him too

5. Saying yes to God’s offer for help as she begins bearing spiritual fruit
I really like that Wynter takes the time to form that basis before diving into a discussion about each fruit.
As your tween girl works through the fruits of the spirit, she’ll find journal prompts, thoughtful questions and inspiring stories of other tweens who are serving God. The turquoise blue highlights and cute graphics will also appeal to your tween girl.
My daughter and I are reading this book out loud together, taking turns discussing the truths and how they apply to our lives. It’s a great tool for talking about God with your tween girl.
Thanks goes to Harvest House and Netgalley for a preview copy of this book.
What a great tool for girls ages 8-12. Such a great mother/daughter devotional book. I love how the author teaches young girls how to start early following Christ. She includes scriptures, bible reading and prays. She also adds questions at the end of each chapter for girls to ponder.
I really like how she teaches the Fruit of the Spirit and how to live your life in this way.
I wish there had been something like this when my girls were this age. I will be ordering it for some young girls in my life.
I was blessed to received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest opinion.
I recommend this book for young girls (preteen) and wish I had a book like this when I was young. She explores Biblical concepts but simplifies them in a way that young girls can understand. I really liked the section on the fruits of the spirit and loved all of the stories to personalize the topics.
When I can't see the whole path in front of me without directions, it is hard to trust I will find a way to my destination. That is how following God is like. Sometimes He calls us to tasks but He surprises us with unexpected twists and turns on the road to where He wants us to be. It is definitely not easy to listen to Him at times. But if we knew exactly what to do, where to go, and the plan to get there, we would be in control, then we wouldn't need God. I think it will be a life-long journey to learn to say yes, but I know He has some great things in store when we trust in His way. I love that this book is a challenge for girls to really go beyond what is mediocre and just settling for what's comfortable. This challenges me as a mom to set the example too. Are you ready to say yes to God? - Mom of 2 tween girls
It's about different ways how we can say yes. I thought it was like a cross between a devotional and a book. It also shows the Fruits of the Spirit and how we can say yes to growing in each of the character traits too. I like the theme of this book. I enjoyed the little tips and verses inside the devotionals. - Melody (age 11)
Another beautiful and necessary book by Wynter Pitts! A book my daughters and I can go back to for so much wisdom and help! Today's girls are set up with so much extra hard stuff to deal with and I have been searching for a book to help me lead my girls to Him. The ministry that Wynter and her husband and now their girls share is so needed and beneficial for parents today. A positive message. A guide to God. Reminding us our girls are a gift from Him to raise and nurture to give them these tools.
I love the lay out of this book, the prayers, the chosen scripture. I was so happy to have received a copy from the publishers to review after I had read two of Wynter's other books and was so encouraged by her words.
There are 16 chapters and an introduction that I highly recommend reading. Written for pre-teen girls in a language that is neither to young nor to old for them. I find that sometimes devotionals written for younger girls tend to baby concepts and explanations which a disservice to the reader. Yet it does not provide information, words or explanations that are too mature for the youngest reader. The book has anecdotes and relatable examples and explanations that help bring the devotionals to life. This devotional guides the pre-teen in a life in line with the fruits of the Spirit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. This is a good book for some mother/daughter time or even to start a bible study group for your little girl and a few of her friends or cousins. I would say this book is good for girls 8 to 12 years old.
Inspirational and encouraging book. Making decisions in life can be difficult. Knowing you are a child of God can help with those decisions. This book is geared for young ladies but I think girls of any age will benefit from reading this book. I enjoyed reading this and look forward to sharing with all the girls in my family. Sharing with friends, too. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my personal honest opinion. No review was required.
As someone who works with kids, I found this book a good conversation starter resource. Very helpful, well written and enjoyable.
This book surprised me. I expected a water-down version of Christianity for tween girls, but what I read was impactful even to me as a 30-something mommy of 3, who has been a Christian for decades. The language and style are certainly geared for the younger crowd, but the message is universal. The writer covers the fruits of the spirit in a practical and applicable way and includes anecdotes and Bible stories bring weight and significance to her points. I am definitely a fan. Despite the recommended age range, I would say this book is good for ages 8-108.
This is a good book for educational purposes. It shows how quotes can be used in daily lives.
However, there are two things I am concerned about. Firstly, is the title. It could be used against vulnerable children to manipulate them.
Secondly is the passage that states to love people, it means you have to say no. While there certainly are people who need to learn this, there are others who are already selfless; I’m worried this reinforcing could lead to unhealthy lifestyles for some.
