Anne Ashburn had the a career she worked hard to get, but the latest call as a firefighter has everything changing for her and her partner Danny Maguire gravely injured. New job, Anne doesn't particularly want as an arson investigator has her relooking at her life and finally addressing some of the issues she has kept within.

Anne renters Danny's life and Danny is not handling it well. The chemistry is hard to continue to deny and it is only a matter of time before they begin to give in to the feelings swirling around them. With an arsonist that seems to be targeting Anne, she begins to question everything including if she can really trust Danny.

This was entertaining, I thought it hopped a bit in the beginning but overall good story. I thought the characters emotions at times were brutally raw. Very different from the other books I have read by this author.

I found Consumed to be extremely inclusive. It’s not often that you find main characters with disabilities. I really felt like Ward showed the depth of emotion behind the life changes that came along with Anne’s amputation.

I was not expecting either of the big twists in this novel. I really felt that Ward did great with the mystery/who done it aspect. While the story was not super suspenseful, it did keep me on my toes.

Great story! Exiting, sweet, sad. I like humor in a Book and this was all very serious. Wich suited the characters but i think its the writing style as well. Its my first jr ward Book. Im curious for more but not exited to the bone. So 4 stars it is. I listened to the audiobook. The narration was great!

I ended up reading this as a finished audiobook, and it was wonderful! There were many times that I didn't want to stop listening, which is a huge draw when it comes to audiobooks for me. I was interested an engaged almost immediately, and found the pacing nearly perfect. I loved Ann and Danny so much - their history and their story added to the mystery in a perfect way. I'm bummed that I haven't seen any additional full length novels for this series!

Just an okay romance. I definitely prefer her paranormal romances compared to this one. I had a hard to getting into this one and I didn't ever fully get on board with the chemistry between the couple.

I read this book last year but neglected to include a review. I love JR Ward's style and read this one rather quickly. The character building was very good and the plot was intense. If you enjoyed Black Dagger Brother series, you will certainly like this book!

This book had one of the most intense opening sequences I have ever read! Great characters, twisty plot, hot sex. Perfect blend of romantic suspense.

I had a difficult time getting into this book, I found myself picking it up and putting out down, which really surprised me as it's written by a very popular, well established author. It definitely wasn't my cup of tea however, that won't stop me from recommending the book to the many fans of author JR Ward.

One crazy thing after another. The suspense just kept building with one more thing. I can’t believe I didn’t figure out the ending until the end! I was colored surprise on so many levels. The characters were fun and believable. The bond of firemen was everything I wanted. Great book and even better ending. Book provided by NetGalley.

I struggled to get into this book from an established author. It clearly was not for me but would not stop me from recommending the book to fans of JR Ward.

The WARDen knocked it out of the park with this one. This is one of the very few authors that I will auto-buy whatever she writes.

J. R. Ward is such an amazing author. I have read everything by her and she never disappoints me. Consumed was such an amazing story. I loved every part of this book from the characters to the story line. It was amazing.

I generally love J.R. Ward's writing, but sadly this wasn't a book for me. I love her Black Dagger Brotherhood series and have binged it and started on her Fallen Angels series as well.

An enjoyable contemporary romance story with two characters dealing with their problems while finding their way into a life with one another. Not sure where the title came from, except that both characters are fire fighters, although one is now an arson investigator. I did really like the villain and the craziness reflecting reality of the characters!

Loved this book! It was very emotional and it consumed me in every aspect of what ifs in my life. This hit home. The author did a fantastic job in writing this story. I definitely recommend.

While I am a huge fan of JR Ward, this book didn't hold the same excitement for me that many of her other books have.

I didn't feel the chemistry between our main characters and that made it difficult for me to get as invested in the story as I usually am with her work. The multiple POVs also made it hard for me to fully immerse myself in this story.

While I didn't dislike the book, it was a little too drawn out for me to fully enjoy this one.

J.R Ward drew me in and kept me captive from beginning to end of Consumed. To say that I did not see that ending coming would be an understatement. I was enthralled with Anne and Danny and did not want the story to end … I just wanted to keep on reading about them and the men at Engine Company 17.

You would have gotten an idea of what kind of a woman Anne Ashburn is if you read The Wedding from Hell novella’s. She’s strong-willed, determined and every inch a firefighter. As this story starts and you see how brave and stubborn she is, you can understand why a man like Dannyboy could be so protective and passionate about her. But, Danny has his own demons that he’s fighting and just added another one with Anne.

One of Danny’s biggest mistakes was Deandra and that too is coming back to haunt everyone at the Engine Company. But, it’s going to take Anne and Danny working together to catch the arsonist and bring the firehouse back together. It’s time for Sister to come back into the fold, to accept that she is still one of them and to settle down their Dannyboy.

I was absolutely amazed with Consumed. I’ve had the pleasure of reading BDB and was thrilled that she was branching out. For her to have gone into a Firefighters series and to have gone into it with a story that was filled with suspense and classic J.R Ward finesse, was just astounding. Consumed is the beginning and I cannot wait to see where else she is going to take us.

I had high hopes for this one. In the end, I struggled to connect with the characters and it just wasn't my cup of tea.
