This is a very cute idea! A group of young girls learn that if they are vocal about art, friendship, and their freedom, they can save themselves and their friends from a joyless dictator. I liked the way the author used Greek mythology in the story, and Tammy, the 10th muse, was a very sweet character. I wish she had appeared earlier!

There are quite a few grammatical errors in this, particularly comma splices and strange tense shifts (flashbacks should really be more clearly delineated). In a book about the power of writing, I would have liked this to have been tighter - personally, I struggle to enjoy books with jarring grammar problems. However, the story is pacy, light and well-plotted. I was surprised that these characters were supposed to be 13 or 14, since I felt they read more like 9 or 10 year olds. They were quite immature. I would recommend this for readers in the 7-9 age range.

I received this book for free from Netgalley and publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book It was a little young for me but I still loved it. I loved the main character and the school she attends. This books is such a cute book. I would recommend it to younger adults but I find myself enjoying these types of books to break away for the high fantasy. The storyline of this book was great. It had good world building.

Now, the book did have its faults but overall I was able to look over them and enjoy the book.

This is such a lovely story. I really enjoyed reading it. It is not my age range but i wanted to read because i like mythology and that cover is really adorable. I love Annie's passion about art and that green haired muse Tammy is amazing. Maybe everyone should go frolic sometimes.

I am not the audience for this book, and I think that is why it mostly missed the mark for me. I love Greek mythology, especially the Muses, so I thought this would be a fun read. Unfortunately, it was too simplistic for my tastes. All the characters were completely interchangeable, and they had a weird, stilted way of speaking that felt unnatural. The plot was pretty straightforward, nothing overly exciting. I feel like this book had a lot of elements that I like, but they didn't pack the punch they needed to be significant. I might have liked this a lot more if I were younger, but it was not written for my age, and it shows.
