Final story about the Ash brothers. Sexy, interesting quirks and caring about life, the last brother looks forward to finding his happy after, but will the woman he desires match his interest?
This is a quick steamy easy read. Without too many complications or details about the character’s past. Why bother denying all that desire for a strong caring big dirty talking lumberjack? Letting go of pride never felt so good for Andra. I needed more, I get that it is a short story and that the purpose is to be steamy but it seemed that it circled to same thing over and over between being stubborn and finally acting on desire.
The only thing that bugged me is that it took too long for the hero and heroine to *talk* to each other for the first time, like they've been in each other's spaces for like a couple of times already and they haven't even talked to each other??? but other than that this was a short and fun read.
When Liam and Andra meet sparks fly. This is a fun, entertaining and sweet read. I liked the story as well as the characters. Enjoyable read.
When Andra and Liam meet, it's clashing hearts at first sight. They get under each other's skins like no one before them. They each want each other, but neither will admit to it, to themselves or to each other. Thank God for Liam's brothers and sisters-in-law, who take matters in their own hands and push the two together!
I thought Touch Wood was a sweet, short piece of insta-love goodness. Not that that is a bad thing, just don't go into this thinking it's a full-length novel or a well-rounded romance with lots of character and relationship development, because it's not. It is sweet, though, and super sexy. So if you're in the mood for something short and sticky sweet with a possessive lumberjack and a resistant, independent woman, then 1-click Touch Wood today.
This is the third in the Ash Brothers series of Dirty Bits novellas, though it could be read as a standalone. The previous couples do play a prominent part, however, so you’d probably be better off starting at the beginning of the series.
“Truth was, I was just as stubborn as he was, and even though I wanted him, even if I would have gotten undressed and gotten in his bed if he’d asked, the whole game we played was far more fun. He thought his charm and good looks, his cocky attitude, would get him in my pants. He was wrong.
If he really wanted me, he’d have to work at it.”
Liam is the last girlfriendless Ash Brother, though it’s not so much of a surprise to him as he’s been celibate for quite a while. Andra is the construction manager (honestly, I’m not sure her exact job title was ever in the book) in charge of the the latest project the lumberjack brothers and their construction company are working on. Liam and Andra have a serious case of insta-lust going on, which Andra is attempting to hide under a mask of indifference. Andra’s a bit of a control freak (though it’s never explained why) and, frankly, that’s half of Liam’s attraction to her.
Like the second book in the series, there was a lot of repetition, especially both Liam and Andra obsessing over why they can’t just give in to the lust between them. There’s a lot of words spent on both of them individually thinking about the other person, but not a lot on them actually interacting with each other before they actually fall in bed with each other (or, er, have sex in front of the fridge). Besides the fridge sex, the story did deliver on its promises of being short and steamy with an HEA.
This is the last in the series, and I have mixed feelings about it. While I still like the idea of an interconnected series of super-short novellas, this fell short on execution. I still like the first in the series, but the other two suffered from being too repetitive, which is especially noticeable and annoying in a story this short.
Overall, this was just an OK read for me. If you want short and steamy romances about lumberjacks, however, I’d still recommend the series as a whole!
I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Fun and steamy short read. Liam and Andra generate a lot of heat and sparks as this mountain man finally meets the woman that can bring him to his knees. Enjoyable and entertaining, this quick read is well worth reading.
Love Jenika's books. Love the ash Brothers. Loved every second. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Liam and Andra’s story is short and sweet. Very steamy. They both feel the attraction but are both too stubborn to make a move. One encounter and all bets are off. It’s an intense emotional rollercoaster that will leave you wanting more. 5 stars!
This series has been pretty lukewarm for me. Other than sexual tension, there really wasn’t any “excitement” in the story. Nothing really popped. They Need a little something more to take them from an okay read.
Jenika Snow is back with a HOT read. Good characters help bring Touch Wood to life. Good blend of heat and romance.
I love grabbing quick little Novellas once in a while. They’re perfect to break the monotony and to indulge in a really hot read.
The one thing you have to realize and accept when you read hot little numbers like this is that there will be insta-lust and insta-love. This book definitely includes both of those.
For some reason I had issues with this story. I liked the plot and definitely the delicious lumberjack. But one thing I did not care for was the repetitiveness in some of his conversation. A lot of it came off kind of cheesy and unbelievable.
But understand that is book gives exactly what you what you want...The connection and the sexy scenes that are smoking. No big build up to the grand affair.. Just down and dirty, like we want!
Need a break? Here you go.
If you're looking for a quick, steamy read don't pass this up! Being a novella is was a little short for my taste but still hot!
Touch wood is the third book in The Ash Brother series by Jenika Snow. This fast paced romance was entertaining and had great characters. Overall, this was great book.
This was my least favorite of the Ash Brothers series. The repetitive writing and the back and forth going on in Andra's head was doing me in. I was bummed because I was looking forward to the story for a while. This just didn't work as well for me as the others in the series.
The parts of the book that were good were very good. The parts of the book that were repetitive reminded me of everything I disliked about the second in this series, however. I suspect that the author would do better with a longer format, where she could do more showing and less telling. Telling me a few times how good they are together doesn't do much to convince me, you know?
Anyway, the setup is enemies-to-lovers with an intense sexual attraction and a very thin veneer of animosity, quickly broken by the both of them getting over themselves. The HEA was a little hard to buy because it went straight from "gotta have you" to "now you're mine forever." That said, if you want a quick, hot read with a very alpha guy with eyes only for one woman... this will probably do the trick.
I’ve read Noah and Johnny’s stories, so, of course, I couldn’t miss out on Liam’s! I was looking forward to seeing how his and Andra’s tale was going to turn out after their meeting in Knock on Wood and Ms. Snow did not disappoint. Touch Wood was fantastic and it might just be favorite out of The Ash Brothers books.
Liam and Andra have some wicked, powerful chemistry. They’re fire and passion and there’s never a dull moment between these two. They’re stubborn, confident, and strong. Liam is dominant and possessive and he loves to show Andra who’s in control. Andra doesn’t make it easy for him, but she can’t resist him. They’re just a great pair and I loved them.
As soon as I started reading Touch Wood, I immediately felt connected to the story and Liam and Andra as a whole. It was fun and full of tension, heat, and sweetness. I loved watching Liam and Andra’s banter and teasing and I loved when they came together. Touch Wood was truly a great read and I’m going to miss these Ashes, but hopefully Ms. Snow will visit the Ash World again in the future.
Touch Wood is the third book in The Ash Brothers series, but it can be read as a standalone, it’s told from Liam and Andra’s POV, and they do get their HEA.
~ A Hopeless Romantic’s Booklandia, 4 Stars
Touch Wood is the third book in the Ash Brothers series and brings us the third brother Ash. This was a good, quick sexy read and although I have read this one first I will go back and read the other two.
These Ash brothers are determined when they see something they want and Liam is certainly no different. Andra gets under his skin in all kinds of delicious tormenting ways. But he knows that he gets under hers as well. She likes having control of her life and her surroundings. In her job, it’s important to take charge and make things happen.
Both of these characters circle each other knowing there is more than their surface tension. When the opportunity arises, Liam makes a move and Andra is glad that he finally did so. However, she’s now struggling with that loss of control.
I’ve enjoyed every one of the books in this series. They’re just sweet little tidbits that are perfect for a quick read. Always filled with heat, always filled with goodness, and always filled with a sexy alpha hero that’s ready to claim his woman. No angst, no cheating and always a perfect happy ever after.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Carina Press. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I didn't enjoy the third Ash brother book quite as much as I liked the previous two - there was a bit too much inner monologue going on with the two characters and it was repetitive at times. I wish there had been more interaction between the two of them besides staring at each other intensely and longingly before they finally succumbed to their mutual desire and I also could've done with a little more back info on them (especially Andra since it seemed as if there was a deeper reason for her fierce need for independence, but that wasn't explained or explored). However, Touch Wood gave me everything Carina's "Dirty Bits" imprint promises: brevity, steam, and an HEA, so I look forward to more books from them, as well as from Jenika Snow. 3 out of 5 wine glasses.
