This book was very slow to get into but once you do your hooked. Franchesca is married to Robert but holds a secret that could destroy him. His mother is a manipulative woman whose only crime is loving her oldest son too much. Roberts brother John is trapped in a marriage to a woman just like his mother but has his own secret. Like i said this book took me awhile to get into but once I did i had to finish to find out the three secrets. Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture Publishing for the oppurtunity to read this book.

The one thing that I notice that I didn't like from the very beginning was each chapter was told from a different point of view. It was nice because it gave more insight into what was going on and it was very clearly marked however I just didn't like the jumping between characters to much. The story starts out with a huge movement and then the rest of the story is what lead up to the beginning. While everyone is close in the family each character has a huge secret that will rock the rest to the core if they are found out and possibly destroy their relationships. I liked how each one was very different but it kept them all tied together. Overall not a bad read I liked the concept I just didn't like the time jumps all over the place they made it hard to follow what was happening in the rest of the story. And considering the topic I didn't expect it to be as slow as it was. Not a bad read just not what I was expecting. And as far as thrillers go it didn't suck me in like most of them do because I spent a lot of time just trying to figure out what I was reading.

A great psychological thriller! It started off great, then slows down a little in the middle but the ending goes out with a bang! Will definitely recommend!

Wow! What an amazing story! From the very first page I was hooked. Packed with twists, this was a thrilling roller-coaster of a story that had me on tenterhooks. An absolutely brilliant story - I highly recommend it to everyone!

I got acopy of the book to read through Net Galley.
A very interesting resd although in some places it was too slow,sd going backwards and forwards was confusing, still can not work out therelationship between Robert anf John and whst Robert saw through the pool house window that saw him so tramasized, that he wanted to take his own life at nineteen, and difficult for the reader to understand, should have been made clearer.
The book was too rushed in the end instead of being psced out throughout the book, would have made a more interested read.
A page turner.

The first 80% of the book was very slow and repetitive but the last 20% of the book was a wild ride. All kinds of weird things happened at the end. A lot of loose ends and nothing was truly investigated by the police??? It left me with the feeling that it was highly illogical, like it was based off of a weird dream after eating to much spicy food.

I won't forget this book for a while because I am still scratching my head about this one. What did I just read??

The first chapter of this book starts with a bang ... no warning!
The rest of the book moves back to 16 years previously moving forward and the present with good pace and excellent descriptive prose:
''Wrong, wrong, wrong. Everything was wrong: the confined, low-ceilinged, damp, creaky cottage; the quietness of the village; the old ladies who stared at me; the dingy local shop with dusty greeting cards; the hairy chin of her next-door neighbour that made Alice gawp; the twee wooden 'Don't park on the grass' and 'Don't let your dog off the lead' and 'Make sure to clip your hedge with nail scissors' signs everywhere (well, not exactly as bad as the latter, but still); the twenty-minute motorway drive to the nearest town; the scuffling of field mice in the loft, and the huge spider in the bath. The list of small dislikes was endless, amounting to a great big dislike of everything about the country.''
Family secrets and parental control which is never relaxed leads to a final conclusion, The main characters are well portrayed whether likeable or not.
Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for this well written and gripping digital copy. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
