In Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas, firefighter Steve Springfield has moved back to his hometown with his four kids, and is working on his family's Christmas tree farm. Camille Brandt is a reclusive artist who barely leaves her home. When a fire at Camille's house leaves her needing a place to stay, Steve brings her to the ranch. When things start happening to Camille, it becomes clear that someone is after her.

I loved Steve's children. They're intelligent and curious, but I also liked that the author includes a child, Micah, who's a lot Camille. This allows her to be able to connect with him in a way she can't with the other children, and it allows her to sympathize and understand him when others can't.

Both Steve and the kids are able to help Camille come out of her shell a little bit, but they respect her enough not to push her too much. I found their relationship to develop at a believable pace, and nothing seems rushed.

I did not expect the culprit of the acts against Camille to be who it was. I didn't see that one coming, which I enjoyed.

Fans of Katie Ruggle and of romantic suspense will not want to miss one. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.

What an utterly charming story by Katie Ruggle. I was totally captivated by the characters and was signing over the happy but bitter sweet ending. Family is at the center of this story and get the romance was everything you could wish for. Don't miss out on the perfect story during the upcoming holidays. This one should be on everyone's wish list.

If you read one Christmas book this season, make it Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas. It has everyone a person needs - holiday spirit, moments that touch the heart, cute kids, a perfect Christmasy setting, and a relationship to make you sigh. Katie Ruggle wrote another winner!

I can't think of anything I would change about this book. In fact, it would make a perfect holiday movie. Steve and Camille would be perfect on the small screen (or the big one). I think many people can relate to her and the uncertainty she feels in her life. Steve is perfection. The mystery is interesting without making the book feel like it's really a suspense novel.

Love it! Definitely 5 stars!

A new series from Ruggle and it is off to a great start. I loved Camille Brandt and how she came out of her shell around Steve Springfield's children. It was great to see a character who had problems facing a lot of people and to watch her work out how and when she would be comfortable. It did not hurt that Steve had been her secret crush in high school and that he did not mind her quirky behavior. This was a great book about being different but still being able to be yourself around friends and family.

I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.

Steve the hero in this book is a cowboy, firefighter and a widower with 4 amazing kids and he now works on the family ranch selling Christmas Trees.
Camille the heroine is a bit of a hermit and is most happy when she is locked away making art out of scrap metal and other bits and pieces she can recycle.
Everything about this book has great feels, the kids are smart, funny and have some amazing one liners, the adults have chemistry but have a few mountains to climb before they can find their HEA and it’s set in a beautiful Christmas wonderland that will have you wishing you could spent the holiday season with the Springfield’s on their Colorado Christmas Tree Farm. This author has an amazing talent of painting pictures with words because she left me feeling like I had visited the farm and the Springfield’s had become my friends but I wanted more and I didn’t want this book to end so all I’m going to leave you with is please one click this must read Christmas romance.

In her new series, “Rocky Mountain Cowboys,” author Katie Ruggle brings her readers to a Christmas tree ranch where Christmas is part and parcel of everyday living and the home of single dad and volunteer fireman Steve Springfield.

For those who have read her two highly successful series, “Rocky Mountain K9 Unit” “Rocky Mountain Search & Rescue,” Steve Springfield is a familiar character having made cameo appearances in the books. “Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas” is his story where readers meet all his children, his siblings and a woman from his past, folk artist Camille Brandt whom Steve had known since high school.

A case of love interrupted, Camille has had a huge crush on Steve while they were still in high school. Steve had noticed Camille too, but forgot all about her when he moved away after graduation. Along the way, he got married, had kids and sadly became a widower.

A feel-good book, “Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas” is about family and finding love in a very familiar place. It’s about sibling rivalry and familial love. It is as much about romantic love and “ohana,” the Hawaiian word for family and extended family where it takes a village to raise children.

This book is not your usual adrenaline-pumping story from Katie Ruggle. With “Christmas” in the title, it should be expected. But, Ruggle still has surprises instore for the readers. In short, expect the unexpected!

“Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas” rated T for Teens. Parental guidance advised for some mature themes.

Loved this story and I'm so glad to see it's just the start of a new series from this author. This is a story of family, romance, and love with a bit of mystery and suspense thrown into the mix. If you read this author's K-9 Unit series you might recognize firefighter Steve Springfield. He and his four precocious kids have now returned to the family Christmas tree ranch. His kids and their antics really make this story. Couple that with Camille and all her fun quirkiness and you have a fun holiday read. I must say I didn't see the ending coming as the mystery of all the weird fires is solved. When you find out who is responsible I think you'll be shocked! I definitely think this one should be on everyone's must read list.

When I saw Katie Ruggle and cowboys, I said, “Yes please, sign me up for an advance copy of this one!” True to form, Ruggle delivers action packed suspense and steamy romance with a side of laugh-out-loud humor and a great deal of heartstring tugging, but this time with small-town charm, nosey neighbors and outlandish, but hilarious gossip. And cowboys. Ooo! And firemen.

Camille has lived in Borne all her life. For years is was just her and her grandma, but now it’s her, her artist's workshop and her cat Lucy. Camille has always been quiet, awkward and artistic, and her solitary life suits her. She gets along much better with her welding torch and her internal dialog than she does with other people. When her nosey but well-meaning neighbor thinks Camille has gotten lost, the search and rescue team sets out to look for her. And who should be the first to find her, not at all lost but scavenging parts for her sculptures, but her high school crush, Steve Springfield!

After the death of his wife and trying to make it alone raising his four kids, Steve and his children move back to his family's ranch in Borne to help out with the ranch business and have the support of his brothers. He's always been a little intrigued with Camille, and when she agrees to sell her sculptures at his family ranch’s Christmas store, Steve and his children get a chance to get to know her. It was entertaining watching Camille dodge Steve's brother, Ryan's, flirting and heartwarming to see her get to know and interact with Steve's kids.

First, let me tell you the one liiiittle critique I have and then we'll get to the good stuff. What I took exception to is who the bad guy turned out to be. There were plenty of red herrings pointing to someone else, but when the bad guy was revealed, there wasn’t much explanation for the other guy's misdirecting behavior. As to the bad guy, unless I wasn’t paying attention at all, there was nothing pointing to him. No off behavior, no strange looks, and no comments to give the reader any clue. That is, until right before the final conflict, and he tells Camille that he won’t let her get hurt. The statement came from so far out in left field it gave my brain whiplash, and the story's flow abruptly stopped for me as I questioned where the statement was coming from and why he would say that when no one expected him to keep Camille safe.

Aside from that, there is so much to love about this book. I adore Camille with her social awkwardness and tendency to babble when she’s nervous, and she was wonderful with Steve's kids. Steve wasn't an alpha hero or a bad boy, but an all-around great guy who genuinely cares about helping people and thinks he’s fumbling his way through adolescent parenthood. His kids are really great – bright, funny, compassionate and with very individual personalities. If anything, they were a little too perfect, with only a minor eye roll or grumble, but no tantrums, arguments or squabbles between them.

Along with a great plot and storyline, the characters were exceptionally well thought out and developed, including the four children. That’s a place where some authors cut corners, but each of these kids had their own distinctive personalities, were highly entertaining, and endearing in their own special way. This book is as sweet as it is steamy and as hilarious as it is heartfelt. It made me laugh, made my allergies act up (that has to be why my eyes were watering), and made my heart happy to see Camille, Steve and his kids get their forever together. If you like a story where the shy, awkward girl gets the regular but great-guy hero as well as his kids, you’ll love this fun, fantastic, heartfelt story. Just have a tissue handy for those allergies.

4.5⭐
Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas was a really enjoyable Christmas story. That pulled me in from the very start. Thanks to extremely engaging and endearing characters. And a storyline that had bags of sweetness and just a touch of drama and suspense. Not to mention a surprising twist. And as a new author to me, I can safely say I will be reading more from Katie Ruggle in the future; and I would happily recommend this delightful, charming story to others.

I love this book! While it's set in the month before Christmas, it's not a typical Christmas story. Steve, the hero, is a widower with 4 bright preteens and teens. He's moved back to the ranch he grew up on to provide the kids with closer ties uncles and a safer environment. Although he's been a professional firefighter for years, he is the newest volunteer firefighter in his hometown. On his first call, he is reacquainted with Camille, our heroine. I liked Camille - she is quirky, smart and just wants to be left alone to make her art. She developed a huge crush on Steve in high school after he rescued her art project from one of the high school bullies. While most of the townspeople believe she's the local eccentric hermit, she is an accomplished metal sculpturor. Steve and his kids befriend Camille, and bring her back into active participation in the town. A stalker targets Camille, causing some laugh out loud encounters with the nosy neighbor next door. To avoid any spoilers, I'll just say that multiple fires occurred, moving the story along into a final surprising confrontation.

This is a well written story, with good character development, a terrific plot and a surprise twist at the end. I read this in a single long day - I kept thinking I'd read just one more chapter until I actually finished it.

I have read a few books by Katie Ruggle over the years and after reading Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas, I have followed her on Good Reads and Amazon so that I don't miss future books.

Having read all of Katie Ruggle's books, this is my favorite. This one takes a slight step away from the suspense angle and gives us a pretty straight up romance with just a touch of suspense. The two lead characters Camille and Steve are delightful and charming. It is so nice to have a straight-up bad-ass guy be so kind and thoughtful. Camille is very uncomfortable around people and it is her relationship with Steve and his children that opens the world up to her.

We have met Steve and his 4 kids in previous novels so it was great that they finally got their HEA. The kids were so well written, their personalities shown and you wanted to know them. That is really hard to write. Camille's social anxiety was a large part of the story and it was never downplayed. Steve and Camille did not rush the relationship which to me makes it seem right for such a socially challenged woman. The main strength of this novel was the characters they were just a delight to read about.

This was a lovely read with a Christmas theme, but the true story was about two lonely people finding each other, and the interesting characters who surrounded them.

Received as an ARC from Netgalley.

Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas is the first book in Katie Ruggle’s new series called Rocky Mountain Cowboys.

Shy folk artist Camille Brandt lives a quiet life in the town of Borne, Colorado where she’s known for her quirky and eccentric nature. When her secret high school crush, Steve “freaking” Springfield moves back to town, her life is thrown on it’s ear.

Firefighter and single dad Steve Springfield has moved back to his family Christmas tree ranch in Colorado to create a safe haven for his four rambunctious children. There, he begins to build a new life with the help of his three brothers.

Circumstances bring Camille and Steve together and the connection that sparks between them is undeniable. But will personal worries, boisterous children, meddling brothers and mysterious fires keep Camille and Steve from building a life together? Read it and find out.

This is a great book for the start of another fantastic series from Katie Ruggle. This series has great characters, a sense of humour and even a little suspense. I can’t wait to learn more about the Springfield brothers and to see what shenanigans the children get themselves into!

All the books in Katie Ruggle’s series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself.

If you've ever read any of Katie Ruggle's other series, the hero of Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas will be very familiar. Fireman Steve has appeared in a couple of other books as a memorable secondary character. Suffice to say he finally gets his own story and romantic partner with the equally charming Camille Brandt. And these two appear so cute considering their both in their thirties!

When Steve moves back in his own hometown, it's for the sake of his four children. Both towns that they previously lived have become too dangerous. Moving back in his family's ranch seems right for everyone. Camille Brandt has stayed in the same town since she was six years old. She's becoming somewhat of a hermit and if she didn't really need things like groceries, food and scrap materials for her art she probably wouldn't really need to leave her workshop at all. But she has nosy but well meaning neighbors, so well meaning that she was reported as missing by one of them! Now, she's come face to face with Steve-freaking-Springfield! Her highschool crush is still as nice and as gorgeous as ever. Yes, good old search and rescue is a guaranteed meet cute for these two. As Steve and Camille navigate small town living, Camille's need to be a hermit and Steve's adorable children and their growing attraction to each other, they also have to contend with a danger that they couldn't even imagine.
Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas will have you googly eyed over Camille and Steve's equally adorable and sexy story. Ms. Ruggle has managed to give us another potential romantic suspense hit with this one. Plus, she her characters are just memorable and lovable. Camille will enchant you with her eccentricities and her frank distaste of social encounters and Steve will probably think he's a magnet for small town danger. I can't get enough of them!

5 star review of Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas (Rocky Mountain Cowboys #1) by Katie Ruggle
Katie Ruggle is a new author to me and I have no idea why that is. I loved her style of writing, her characters and the story line.
I loved this book. From the first to the last chapter I just loved everything about single dad Steve Springfield and Camille Brandt both separately and together.
This was a slow burn romance, that built throughout and had me cheering when Steve and the socially awkward Camille, finally got together .
Steve’ s children almost stole the book from Steve and Camille, they had some great lines which had me racking up. The love they had for each other and their siblings was heartfelt.
I love the Christmas season and this book certainly got me in the spirit. I will be looking at other books by Katie Ruggle ASAP and cannot wait to see what she has in store for this series.

I received a copy of this book through the publisher via Netgalley.

Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas by Katie Ruggle can be counted as the 5th book in the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit series, but it reads more like the first book in a related series. It can stand up fine all on its own regardless. It is currently scheduled for release on September 25 2018.

When firefighter and single dad Steve Springfield moved his four kids to a Colorado Christmas tree ranch, he intended for it to be a safe haven. But he never expected that he would come face-to-face with the one girl he could never forget. Folk artist Camille Brandt lives a quiet life. As the town's resident eccentric, she's used to being lonely, until Steve freaking Springfield changes everything. Brave and kind, he's always had a piece of her heart, and it doesn't take long before she's in danger of falling for him and his rambunctious kids. But as mysterious fires break out across the sleepy Colorado town, Steve and Camille will have to fight if they want their happy family to survive until Christmas.

Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas is a contemporary romance with the touch of suspense that I have come to expect from Ruggle. I adored Camille's character. She is not a fan of attention, and just wants to go about her day with as little small talk and conversation as possible- a trait that I share (to a smaller extent). Steve is trying to be a good father, and give his children a safe and happy home. Working with the fire department and at the family tree farm- as well as getting them involved- seems like the way to go. When Camille and Steve reconnect the attraction is there- but self doubt from both and parties and some interfering family make things more complicated. Then there are the nosy neighbors, fires, and personal quirks make things even more interesting. I greatly enjoyed watching the two dance around each other, and loved getting to know Steve's kids better. I found the suspense part to be well done, and had my suspicions as to who was behind the danger, and why. I will say I was partly right, but loved the ride to get to our happy ending. I love this story, and series, and will continue reading everything I can from the author.

Rocky Mountain Cowboy Christmas is another great romance from Ruggle. I like her character work and am always left wanting more, even though the story is complete.

Katie Ruggle has started a new series with a romantic suspense that will keep you wondering, a hero that is so fricken sweet and a heroine that really needs a keeper. Add in four kids you just want to hug and you have this terrific Christmas time tale. I will tell you I was totally surprised to find out who the bad guy was. I look forward to more Rocky Mountain Cowboys.

I requested this ARC after reading the chapters included in Ruggle's Through the Fire. It turned out to be a satisfying romance with unique characters and engaging setting.

Though the back cover blurb hints at this being a second chance romance, it's not. She thought he was cute and had a crush on him but they really didn't know each other at all. Camille and Steve haven't been pining, and what they know of each other before helps them take the first awkward steps towards each other in this book. It's really sweet.

Steve has moved back to raise his kids on the home farm, which is a Christmas tree farm with horses. He's a volunteer firefighter with the local fire station, and Camille is an artist who moved home and finished in college degree online to look after her grandmother. Her grandmother has passed on several years earlier, and Camille is very isolated.

One of the (many) elements I enjoyed of the story is that characters are accepted for who they are. Camille doesn't enjoy being around people - especially large groups - and she gets to do so on her terms. To be fair, the townspeople aren't that nice to her because they find her odd and they're nosy in that not-so-special small town way.

I'm always interested in single parent romances and this one was refreshing because the kids aren't threatened by their dad meeting someone new. They want him to have someone, and cheerfully mock him for how bad he is at flirting. I also liked that it showed how hard Steve worked for all his kids and didn't turn him into a overwhelmed single father who needs help stereotype. One of his first interactions with Camille is asking for her help buying tampons and pads because his oldest daughter is of an age where she could need them soon and he wants her to be prepared. He does ask Camille for help or advice because he trusts her and she gets to develop her own relationships with the children.

Forced proximity comes into play when Camille's house is burned down and she moves in with Steve. This helps their awkward flirting and they finally make a move towards each other. It also gets his brother Ryan to back off, because he got competitive with Steve when he realized Steve liked her. Ryan is pretty annoying and should've backed off sooner. Not sure if he's supposed to be sequel bait but he has a lot of work to do first.

The mystery of the fires is well-paced and connects well with the overall story. While I would not classify this as a cowboy romance, per se (it's a Christmas tree farm), it's recommended for viewers looking for unique rural romances.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story about Steve and Camille. The SLOW burn had me going a little crazy, but the kids stole the show. I loved Camille's shyness and eccentricities, and Steve was heartthrob material down to the minutest detail. I wished there had been more detail about his first wife, and I almost expected Camille to be a virgin based on her lack of social experiences all around. I felt like I was missing something about the kids since it was never discussed why they moved twice in a short amount of time. But the suspense part was just enough and the Christmastime feel was perfect. I'll read more from Katie Ruggle in the future.

Camille is as close to a hermit as you can be while still running your own errands. She works as a metal artist from the garage of her childhood home. Her biggest childhood crush has moved back to town and she has unexpectedly come face to face with Steve during a search and rescue.

Steve is the single dad of four genius level children. If they go a week without an explosion he would call it a win. Moving back to his hometown and back to his family's tree farm is becoming a great decision. There is never enough supervision for his active kids and now he is distracted by Camille. Did his brother really call dibs?

Quick, yet fun read about family and coming home.
