This book deserves a soundtrack composed by Ennio Morricone!
The first William W. Johnstone book I read, but surely not the last. An excellent Western, with a lot of action, twists and turns and even many moments full of humor, in a book with a very interesting plot and very well-designed characters that make the reader feel like he or she is living the story, not just reading it.

Title: Gunsmoke and Gold
series: Blood Bound #4
Author:s : William W,Johnstone & J.A.Johnstone
Pages: 270

Young Matt Bodine and Sam Two Wolves became blood bothers on the day the rancher's son saved the halfbreed's life, forging a bond no one could ever break. As years passed, a legend grew of the breed and the white man who rode together - and who could jerk killing iron with the best of them.

My thoughts
Rating :5
Even though this is book 4 of the series I had no problem getting lost in the story but then again I tend to do when ever I read one of their books, they have a way of being their characters to live, as well as their setting , it like watching a movie or tv show and the more you read the more you get lost in the story line, I especially love how the two main characters was like family and not just blood brothers ,once again a win for William W.Johnstone &J.A.Johnstone, with that said I want to thank Netgalley for letting read and review it .

You would think that with the many, many, many Johnstone books available; there would be no more good cowboy westerns out there. You would be wrong! 5 stars again for an original story with believable characters. I have read many westerns and have found no writers as good as these. As long as they keep writing, I'll keep reading and sharing with my Western loving friends and family.

William W. Johnstone writes a classy western novel, his men clean and wholesome and polite, and his ladies strong and brave and full of heart. Gunsmoke and Gold follows that general outline with just a little spice to liven up the mix.

Sam and Matt were raised in the west about as close as brothers - they consider themselves blood brothers. Sam Two Wolves, college educated back east, was the son of a Cheyenne warrior and a beautiful white woman. Matt Bodine, of European extraction, was home schooled by his school teacher mother on the ranch his father ran. Both men, mid-twenties, are running fairly large ranches in the far northwest. As their responsibilities allow, the boys occasionally like to wander a bit and find interesting things to do. In the small town of Dale, Colorado they find a community of good people being overrun by true bad guys, and decide to stay awhile.

This is a book that was difficult to put down. It is one I can happily recommend to family and friends, and will want to read again some cold winter day. William W. Johnstone is an author I follow and prefer to own his books rather than borrow, so that I may share and read again as I want.

I received a free electronic copy of this western historical novel from Netgalley, William W. Johnstone, and Pinnacle in exchange for an honest review. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with me.
