Lisa Jackson is a talented storyteller and this is classic for her. She knows how to build the suspense that makes the reader say "one more chapter and then I will go to bed" after each chapter that they read. Needless to say, I read this one in one sitting!

Liar, Liar
Lisa Jackson

An entertaining and fast-paced story of lies, deception, murder and betrayal.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

SUMMARY
Didi Storm worked the Las Vegas strip as a celebrity impersonator. She was ambitious and always way to busy to spare much time for her daughter, Remmi. Remmi was 15 when she last saw her mother. DiDi disappeared after a horrendous night in the Mojave Desert. Remmi had hidden away in DiDi’s car that night, and had witnessed DiDi handing over one of her newborn twins to a man in exchange for a briefcase. The next day DiDi disappeared as did Remmi’s other half sibling. The authorities have found no clue as to what happened to DiDi, or either of her twins.

Now at 35, Remmi is living in San Francisco, and a tell-all book has just been published about DiDI’s life. But no one talked to Remmi about it. Coincidentally, Remmi is on her way to talk to the publisher, when a woman leaps from the ledge of a balcony. Remmi’s first glimpse of the jumper shakes her to her core. The broken woman bore a strong resemblance to DiDi. She was dressed in DiDi costume and wig. But it wasn’t DiDi. So where was DiDi and where has she been for the past twenty years?

REVIEW
It’s Las Vegas, baby! Anything can happen in Las Vegas and it does in this book: a Marilyn Monroe impersonator, a fireball in the desert, a disappearing act, counterfeit money, and murder and mayhem. It’s a zany start to this entertaining plot-driven story!

You’ll want to hold on tight for this fast moving crime thriller as layer upon layer of the mystery is deftly peeled away. You’ll keep reading to figure out who wrote the book about DiDi; who was this woman who jumped to her death; Where are DiDi and the twins; What happened that night in the desert; and who is following Remmi. There’s a lot going on in LIAR, LIAR, and all the lies, deceptions, and murders don’t always make sense. There are a few to many coincidences in the story for me, but a well-developed cast of characters makes the story interesting.

So many threads to this plot were so far out there, yet it seemed completely plausible while I was reading it. The suspense and mystery kept me engaged, the small bit of romance seemed thrown in for kicks. I did not guess who the person "behind the curtain" was at all, which contributed to the enjoyment of the mystery plotline.

Have read several books by this author and have always enjoyed them. This book was no exception. I recommend this book.

An intriguing plot of mystery, fame, family relationships, and heartbreak. I always enjoy Lisa Jackson's books and I was not disappointed. This is the kind of book that you take on vacation, enjoy it and pass it on to a friend. Remmi is a very strong, resilient, likable character, Didi, not so much. I felt that Jackson did a good job of tying together all of the subplots, a couple of surprises, but satisfying at the end.

Not a favorite of mine

I usually am a fan of Lisa Jackson's books but I had a hard time making it to the end of this one.

Didi Storm is an impersonator working in Las Vegas with three children and is not a nice woman. Twenty years ago she disappeared and her oldest daughter, Remmi, fifteen years old at the time, has hoped she'd come back ever since.

Flash forward twenty years and the convoluted story just keeps on trying to unwind. Not much character development and too many coincidences made this a book I had a difficult time wanting to finish. I did like Remmi's landlady and there were pieces here and there I enjoyed but that wasn't enough to save the book.

Sorry but unless you're a Lisa Jackson fan that wants to read ALL of her books, I don't recommend this one.

I received this book from Kensington Books through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.

I received a free e-copy of Liar, Liar by Lisa Jackson from NetGalley for my honest review.

This is the first book I have ever read by Lisa Jackson. The very beginning of the book, A woman (Didi Storm), dressed to look like Marilyn Monroe, jumps to her death.

Who was this Marilyn Monroe look-alike and why did she jump? What went terribly wrong that went back 22 years?

Twenty two years ago Remmi, a teenager decides she is going to sneak out but when her mother comes in Remmi hides in her mom's old Cadillac in the garage. Remmi then watched as her mom take her newborn twins and loaded them into the Cadillac and take off while she was hiding in the trunk. When the vehicle finally stops, in the middle of nowhere, her mother takes the twins out of the car to meet a strange man.

Something was terribly wrong. Remmi confronts her mother but gets no answers from her. Was Remmi’s mom trying to sell one of her siblings to the stranger? Later, when her mother doesn't return home, Remmi finds herself with a baby and doesn't know where to go.

This book Keeps you guessing all the way through but it moved a bit slow for me.

This is the first novel that I've read by Lisa Jackson and I doubt it will be the last as this was great! It was fast paced and full of drama from the opening pages through to the end. I really felt for the main character and found myself hoping she would find the answers that she desperately needed. I was surprised at how many characters were involved in either the mystery itself or the unraveling of it. Recommended to anyone who likes a good mystery.

Full of lies, betrayal, and mystery, Liar,Liar is a return to the writing style of Lisa Jackson that has been missing from the last couple of books she's written. The mystery surrounding Didi's and the twins' disappearance is intriguing and keeps the reader guessing. The only thing that kept this book from being a great read for me was the epilogue. I found it to be an unsatisfying ending.

really liked it

Thanks to the publisher for a ARC to read and give my honest opinion. The cover was ok, but the blurb and author's notoriety is what had me claiming this book.

The book centers around a woman who impersonates Marilyn Monroe named Didi Storm. After trying to embezzle money from the father of her twin children, she disappears never to be heard from again. Twenty years pass by and a book about Didi Storm comes out. This makes more things surrounding the disappearance come to light, and the eldest daughter of Didi's is looking for answers.

This was a really great story with enough action to keep you guessing until the end. The author did a really great job of keeping me guessing until it was almost over which really made the book hold my attention. I gave it four stars of entertainment! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a great mystery.

Liar Liar is an engrossing study of a woman willing to do anything, regardless of the impact on her family, to achieve her dreams.

Didi Storm wants riches and fame. When her acting career is derailed with a teen pregnancy, she becomes a celebrity impersonator in Vegas. Realizing she'll never be rich, she attempts a long con by giving birth to a rich man's twins and trying to get paid for the male infant. Remmi, her teenage daughter, sees it end horribly with both Didi and the twins missing, possibly dead. Fast forward to the present, someone has published a true crime book about Didi's life when Didi is sighted in San Francisco.

Nice mystery with a few twists. Recommended for fans of mysteries more than than thrillers as the slow build of the family dynamics is what drives the plot. 4 stars!

Lisa Jackson is a skilled storyteller that provides characters I enjoy reading about who often find themselves in situations I would never wish to find myself in. This story is one that begins in the present, jumps to the past and then returns to the present day with a lead character 15 in the beginning who reappears twenty years later when her mother, Didi Storm, is front and center in the public eye…even though Didi has been missing for those twenty years already mentioned.

This is a story of greed, dysfunction families, jealousy, murder and more. There is a second chance at romance for Didi’s daughter, Remmi as she meets up with Noah Scott once again. The two had experiences they will never forget in the desert outside Las Vegas long ago and the mystery of what happened and why has stayed with them for decades. Their chemistry is still there and ready to be explored as they try to figure out what happened so many years before.

I really liked Remmi and her ability to overcome. I loved Noah and his ability to handle situations. I hated the bad guys…all of them. I was eager to find out what would happen and did enjoy the book though there were a few times I seemed to lose interest for a bit. I am not sure if that is because of the way the book was arranged with the leaps in time or if I had trouble relating to some of the characters. I still enjoyed the story and do look forward to reading more by this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I'm a fan of Lisa Jackson's books and glad to say I enjoyed this one too. It started out a bit slow for me but about halfway through, the story seemed to pick up and become more interesting. Lots of secrets, lots of twists, a bit of rather unrealistic romance thrown in, and a lot of killings! I didn't totally buy the killer - it seemed almost TOO unexpected; but I always read books with a willing suspension of disbelief! Overall, it was a very enjoyable read.

Liar Liar is another winning book from Lisa Jackson. I don’t know this for a fact but I am guessing that the reason for the title is that not only is Remmi being lied to but most of the other characters do nothing but even if it’s not even that important. The story is like a lot of books these before and after but not as annoying as switching every other chapter. We hear Remmi’s story from when she was 15 and then again 20 years later. The story centers on Remmi’s mother Didi a Marilyn Monroe impersonator. Didi had Remmi at a very early age and then twins several years later. She will not reveal who the fathers are but sets up a get rich quick scheme that has all kinds of dire consequences. One of them being that Remmi is now all alone and doesn’t know if her little family is alive or dead. Twenty years later it all comes to a head and the lies begin to crumble. I totally loved the book until it was revealed who the “bad guy” was. I thought that was very disappointing but not enough for me to change my mind about rating this book 4 stars. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this book in exchange for my unbiased review.

I felt that it started out a little slow, but the more I read, the more I got into the story. It has suspense and a good mystery. It took my quite a while to figure out the killer. Remmi's mother disappeared and so did her sister, brother, the nanny and a boy named Noah. Twenty years later, things start happening and makes Remmi wonder if her mother is really dead. She has to be after all this time, but no one has ever found her body. What happened to the twins? Are they still alive? She has been wondering about all of this for too many years. All of a sudden Noah comes back into her life. Where has he been? Can she trust him? She has tried to get on with her life, but there is so much holding her back. Too many old secrets.

This book just was not for me. It seemed so far fetched that I had trouble getting into it. I was disappointed as I was really looking forward to this one. Oh well, you out can't, love them all. There's a good mystery hidden somewhere in this book, but it was a trial to find it. The author could have used a good editor. Pages and pages of just thoughts in someone's head that did nothing to move the plot along. Characters that weren't completely likeable. A less than believable romance. The root of this book -- the mystery itself --could have been really good but everything needed tightening, from pacing to characters to the ending. It was long and drawn out in some points and too quick and tidy in others. I think this author has some potential for me, but this was not the book for me to try.

Thank you NetGalley, Lisa Jackson and Kensington Books for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

The novel begins with Remi Storms watching a lady jump out her hotel window, committing suicide. This woman is dressed like Marilyn Monroe and Remi is concerned that it could be her long lost mother. Her mother Didi was a celebrity impersonator and disappeared under mysterious circumstances twenty years ago, leaving Remi to care for herself. It isn’t her mother, but the rest of the novel focuses on who and why someone is impersonating Didi after twenty years.

The novel starts off with a bang, but I found that the first part of the novel seems very long and it does have information that you need for further in the book, but it just wasn’t portrayed in a way that made me interested. The second part of the novel, the now portion was a lot more interesting to me and I enjoyed the Remi character a lot more. I also really enjoyed Dani Settler, the detective in this novel, I was interested in her life and liked that she believed Remi.

I really got into the novel about half way through, when Remi and the detective start finding out little tidbits about how Didi lived and who wrote the book about her. I loved the ending, because who isn’t a sucker for a happy ending! I also liked the way the whole novel was brought to a close and how everything was all wrapped up. But I did find that unlike some thrillers, there was no urgency in me needing to find out the ending. Also, the chapters were fairly long and I found it hard to find a good place to stop without having to read what felt like fifty pages first. I did love the Remi and Noah characters and how they were portrayed, I did really care about what happened to them. Overall, it was a good Lisa Jackson novel, but definitely not her best.

Pick it up June 26th!
