This cozy mystery’s storyline kept my attention all the way through the book. The mystery was not an easy one to solve, and I wasn’t sure about the identity of the murderer until the end of the book. The characters at the restaurant were great and I loved that the main setting for the story was the restaurant. I have not read any other book in this series, but I had no trouble at all reading this book as a stand-alone. This is a clean cozy mystery with no bad language or embarrassing scenes. I’ll be looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

The second book in the Farm-to-Fork Mystery series by Lynn Cahoon is Killer Green Tomatoes. Angie's restaurant, County Seat, is turning into a success. Her sous chef introduces her to a new produce supplier, his cousin Javier. Shortly after their meeting, Javier's former love interest in found murdered, and he is the only suspect. Angie believes that Javier is being framed even after he disappears. She has her hands full taking care of her neighbor's grandmother for the week but is lured into investigating. I finished this book in just over a day. One clue near the end helped me solve the mystery. The family setting of the restaurant and the farm theme make this a delightful series.

This is the second book in the Farm-to-Table mystery series by Lynn Cahoon. I thought this was a great book. Angie Taylor has just opened her restaurant, the County Seat in her tiny Idaho town. Things are working like clockwork, and her sous chef Estebe introduces her to his cousin, who is a local farmer who can supply locally grown fresh produce.

Just as arrangements are made, Javier, Estebe's cousin, is accused of murder. Worse yet, Javier then goes missing! Angie is asked to look into the murder and the disappearance by Estebe and his family.

I found this book really interesting because I love the idea of a farm to table restaurant with local growers and love to read about Angie, the lead chef, experimenting with recipes to try to replicate her grandmother's recipe for Fried Green Tomatoes. I love that Angie is using recipes of her grandmother's in the restaurant and trying out new things, as well. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a great cozy mystery.

Normally I have some time in between books in a series but that was not the case here. As soon as I finished the first book I dove into this one and I really enjoyed staying in Angie's world. I forgot to mention when talking about the first book how much I enjoyed the giant puppy, Dom. I love a big goofy dog in a book and Dom is the biggest and goofiest which is a lot of fun. There are some scenes that aren't related to the mystery but more to Angie's life in general. I really enjoy this in a cozy because what pulls me to a series is the characters and the setting so I like getting to know both. The mystery was good and the pacing kept me entertained which is expected in a Lynn Cahoon mystery. This doesn't replace the South Cove series as my absolute favorite but I am excited to see where it goes and the first two mysteries have been very solid and enjoyable.

Killer Green Tomatoes is the second installment of the Farm to Fork series by Lynn Cahoon. There is a lot going on in this s tory! Not only is there is a murder and a missing person, but to top it off, Annie has a house guest. So not only does this story have murder,but thanks to Mrs Potter, mayhem as well!

This is a fun, fast paced book. The author does a wonderful job penning a story that is so believable, you will think you are sitting at The County Seat, eating a meal prepared by Angie and Estebe.
This story revolves around Estebe and his cousin Javier, who is a suspect in his girlfriend's murder.
There are many twists and turns in the story as well as the background stories.
I found myself reading well into the night because I couldn't put Killer Green Tomatoes down.

My rating: 2 of 5 stars, it was just okay.

Book 2 in the series.

I thought I had read everything by this author, but somehow the first book in this series slipped past me. But I honestly didn't realize that until I came to write this review. This book felt like it could have been the first. The characters still felt a bit flat to me, which was a surprise, because I like Ms. Cahoon's other two cozy series quite a lot.

I had a very hard time getting in to this book. It started off pretty slow, with only a brief glimpse of the farm-to-table restaurant the series is named for. After that we get a lot about the main character's personal life and, "is she cheating on her boyfriend with her sous chef?" speculation from small town busy-bodies.

In the end, the mystery surprised me a bit, so it ended up with an okay rating, but I don't feel like it's up to par yet with the other books by this author and I don't really have much incentive to go back and read the first book.

I absolutely love this series! The characters are unique and the setting in Idaho is near and dear to my heart. The plot of this book was interesting, multi-layered and fun to untwist to get to the end. I am absolutely going to read the next book in this series!

Second in Lynn Cahoon’s new Farm-To-Fork series, this cozy mystery rocks! I really like this new series, and Killer Green Tomatoes is even better than Who Moved My Goat Cheese? Angie compares good food to family for many reasons, including how memories are made through the combination of family and food. It is one of the first premises of the County Seat. I wasn’t familiar with the farm-to-table restaurant concept, and have a new appreciation for the work that goes into it and how a restaurant of this caliber to keep fresh, exciting new dishes to highlight the season’s best produce. I am kitchen-challenged, but can better understand the process of hiring professionals who become a work family, using more than adequate vendors and farms, and through creativity and hard work, “wow” the residents of River Vista, Idaho.

Angie Turner is head chef and co-owner of the County Seat Restaurant, and best friend Felicia is co-owner and in charge of the front of the restaurant, including the bar and waitstaff. Estebe is Angie’s sous chef who invites her to consider his cousins’ Pamplona Farms as a possible provider of locally-grown produce. They meet with his cousin Javier, and Angie is sufficiently impressed with their vegetables to place her first order with them. In the meantime, she and her counterparts are challenged to create the very best fried green tomato recipe to serve as a seasonal appetizer. Angie simply cannot her Nona’s recipe, and can’t quite replicate it.

Angie lives in what had been her Nona’s home and misses her terribly. She has a gorgeous Saint Bernard puppy, Dom, and a baby goat, Precious. And some of the best neighbors in the world. At least some of the more interesting. Take Mrs. Potter, for instance. For a week, please, so her live-in granddaughter, a student and family caregiver, can take a trip to Mexico with classmates. As an introvert, having a houseguest can be challenging, but add in some of the truly funny situations they encounter when this dear lady tries to help…

Estebe calls with a family emergency. His cousin Javier, whose farm they have just begun to buy produce from, has been arrested for the murder of his girlfriend, Heather, found dead in the alley behind the Red Eye, just a parking lot away from the County Seat. He is helping his cousin and family, and they ask Angie for her help due to the murder she recently helped solve. Javier is released, but then he disappears – kidnapped or in hiding.

The characters are so likable and well-defined, one could expect them to step out of the pages and into the County Seat. I couldn’t create a new dish to save my life, but I still like Angie best. She has such a great family home and an instinct to help solve mysteries! Felicia is a delight, and her personality balances out Angie, especially when she goes through the gamut of stressors in the kitchen. Her boyfriend, Ian, who is the nephew of the police chief, is a keeper, and not just for his lively accent. I do love Dom, the sweet pup gracing the cover!

The author drew me in from the start, reacquainting me with those who already seem like friends, and dialing in on some of the small-town gossips. One problem with the life of a playboy, such as Javier, is that there is no shortage of suspects who might want to kill his current lady. Or maybe the handsome stranger who consoles Heather after Javier left with another blonde. The author has planned and executed the plot with care, expertly adding plot twists and even a red herring or two that heighten the suspense. The real killer’s identity, however, is as elusive as Nona’s fried green tomatoes recipe. I had a couple ideas who it might be, based on clues the author left throughout, but was not prepared for who it really was! Everything was wrapped up without loose ends, and I was very satisfied with it. I highly recommend Killer Green Tomatoes to the author’s fans, to those who enjoy delicious cozy mysteries with humor, breathtaking suspense, and food bringing families – and readers – together to make good memories.

Killer Green Tomatoes by Lynn Cahoon is the second story in A Farm-to-Fork Mystery series. Angie Turner is the co-owner as well as the head chef at County Seat. She has been trying to recreate her Nona’s fried green tomato recipe for the restaurant, but she has yet to get it exactly right. Estebe Blackstone, Angie’s sous chef, knowing that Angie is looking for good produce suppliers recommends Pamplona Farms which is run by his cousin, Javier Easterly. Javier is quite the flirt and is known for his rotating girlfriends. The produce, though, is exceptional and Angie is excited to create new dishes for the County Seat with the fresh veggies. One day Estebe gets a call at work from an agitated Javier. His latest girlfriend, Heather was found murdered behind the Red Eye Saloon after a very public disagreement. Javier is accused of the crime and Estebe asks Angie for her assistance. Angie will need to work in her investigating in between managing the restaurant, filling in for Estebe, making sure her farm animals get fed and taking care of her temporary roommate. Erica, Mrs. Potter’s granddaughter, has the chance to take a vacation in Cabo, but she needs someone to take care of Mrs. Potter. Angie agrees to watch out of for her elderly neighbor despite her misgivings. Angie is in for a busy and entertaining week. Things are heating up and Angie needs to be careful or she will get burned.

I enjoyed reading Killer Green Tomatoes. I like the author’s conversational writing style and the engaging characters that she created. Angie is a smart, hardworking woman who is getting her new business off the ground. I find Angie to be a likeable and relatable main character with her unusual pets of Mabel, the chicken and Precious, the goat as well as the lovable, Dom (her St. Bernard puppy). Mrs. Harriet Potter is a delightful addition to the series. I am glad that she had a more prominent role in Killer Green Tomatoes. Mrs. Potter provided levity with her well-meaning antics (you will have to read the book to find out what I mean). Angie’s romance with Ian is progressing. I appreciate that the author is not rushing their relationship. They are taking the time to get to know each other. Working in time for dates is difficult, though, with their busy schedules and the pesky murders. The mystery was well-plotted and is woven throughout the story. The author manages to combine the cozy and mystery elements, so they are balanced. If you are an avid reader of cozy mysteries (like me), then you will not have a problem arriving at the solution. There are many cozy moments in Killer Green Tomatoes with friendship, animals, cooking, romance, mishaps, creating new recipes and, of course, eating. I like how everyone who works at the restaurant comes together for a meal each week. It gives all the workers a chance to try the food and get to know each other. Killer Green Tomatoes can be read as a standalone. Personally, I would read Who Moved My Goat Cheese? prior to Killer Green Tomatoes. It will allow you to see the development of the characters and the restaurant. My rating for Killer Green Tomatoes is 4 out of 5 stars (I liked it). There is a recipe for fried green tomatoes at the end of the book.

Killer Green Tomatoes is the second book in the Farm to Table series by Lynn Cahoon. I enjoyed this instalment much more than book one, which felt more like an introduction to the farm to table movement and dragged on a bit. This book had a lot more mystery, action and character development. It held my interest and the plot moved much faster. I still felt that Lynn was just scratching the surface of the characters and I don't really have any attachments to them. Those relationships you feel for the characters are what makes me love a cozy! I feel like I know Precious the goat and Dom, Angie's dog better than most human characters in the books.
The mystery itself wasn't obvious and I got to have a reveal at the end that wasn't completely expected. This is always something I look for in a "good" cozy, a lot of times the killer is screaming at you from page 30. I was really happy with the ending/reveal.
I enjoy Lynn's other two series a lot more though and I feel like those two were captivating from book one. The farm to table series is not quite fully realized in my opinion, and I hope that it continues to build on the improvements in this book to get to the same level as the Cat Latimer and Tourist Trap series I know and love.

The time seems ripe for success as Angie Turner opens her farm-to-table restaurant The County Seat , in her Idaho hometown until her new tomato supplier is accused of murder and Angie has to pick the real killer . To Angie, nothing tastes more like summer than her Nona's fried green tomatoes. Eager to add the recipe to the menu at the County Seat, she's found the perfect produce supplier her sous chef Estebe’s cousin, Javier. Just one problem: ladies’ man Javier’s current hot tomato Heather has turned up dead, and he’s the prime suspect. Somehow, between managing her restaurant and navigating a romantic triangle between Estebe and Ian, the owner/manager of the farmer's market, Angie needs to produce evidence to clear Javier—before this green tomato farmer gets fried .<br /><br />The characters are well developed, well written, strong, and lifelike. The mystery is complex and has lots of twists, turns, and red herrings before the surprising conclusion where we get the reveal of not just one guilty party. The author shows us how when you live in a small town everyone thinks that they know everyone else's business even if they have all the facts or even the correct facts. The story also has a few nice subplots that weave themselves into the main plot very nicely and they all come together and get concluded at the end without anything being left without a conclusion.<br /><br />I liked the sub plot of Angie having her elderly neighbor Mrs. Potter stay with her for a week while her granddaughter Erica goes to Cabo with some friends from her college study group, it lets Angie have a change in her otherwise quiet home life routine where she comes up with new recipes and taking care of her three animals. I'm also glad that Angie's relationship with Ian McNeal is still going strong and there is room for some more development in the relationship in the next book. I didn't like the introduction of Angie's high school nemesis Katie who it turns out to be involved in Heather's murder though she is not the killer which Angie would have liked so she could see her old nemesis get her just desserts. Even though Mrs. Potter and Angie had a disagreement at the end of her stay, it was nice to see that they are still friends even though Angie felt guilty about being one of the causes of the disagreement. I can't wait to read book number three so I can see what kind of situations Angie gets herself and her friends into.<br /><br />I got an ARC of this book from Netgalley and Kensington for my honest opinion of the book.

Its great fun to return to the Farm to Fork restaurant in small town Idaho ! This is the 2nd in series of the Farm To Form Cozy Mystery Series by Lynn Cahoon. The author is very talented with many former published books. I always enjoy returning to her work as her books are the definitive cozy mysteries .

In this 2nd in series our protagonist Angie owns and manages The County Seat, a farm to fork hometown comfort food restaurant which is proving successful in small town Idaho. She lovingly prepares many of her Grandmother's old recipes from the original recipe cards. This makes her food a stand out to the town as her food is delicious and all prepared from local farmers. I love this aspect of this series and enjoy reading about the old recipes. She is looking at new local vendors to add recipes to the menu and busy managing the kitchen when her sous chef's cousin is accused of murdering his girlfriend. Angie has proven to be a good investigator and steps up to help . She soon has a list of suspects and is on the case . She is surprised to find out the suspect was quite a ladies man so she has many people to interview and clues abound as she delves further into the murder.

What makes this series unique is Angie and her friendly compassionate nature. She is wonderful to everyone, from her employees who she considers friends , to her neighbors and her adorable St. Bernard dog. I love this aspect of this series where the protagonist fits the small town life and is kind. She is someone we would all benefit from having as a friend.

The sleuth was very well crafted and I found the twist and turns of multiple clues fascinating to the end. I love the supporting small town neighbors and friends, the dog and reading about a picturesque small town life . This series is idyllic in every way for a enjoyable read and a great sleuth for every avid mystery lover.

I look forward to the next in series. Well done to the author with a successful 2nd in series. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the ARC.

Killer Green Tomatoes by Lynn Cahoon is the 2nd book in the Farm to Fork Mystery series, and another great book. Angie Turner is searching for the perfect fried green tomato recipe to serve at her restaurant Farm to Fork in Idaho. Angie's sous chef, Estebe, introduces her to his cousin, Javier, as a possible tomato supplier. When Javier latest girlfriend is found dead, and Javier is the prime suspect, Angie starts sleuthing. There are twists and turns around every corner. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. I can not wait for the next book in the series. If you love cozy mysteries, I strongly recommend this book.

Surprisingly I have only just now discovered this talented author who has written dozens of cozy mysteries. How’d that happen? Perhaps not enough kitties on the covers? If it wasn’t for the big, goofy St. Bernard gracing the cover, I don’t think I would’ve even noticed this new farm-to-table series. Also, I’m a big fan of comfort food, so the restaurant setting was most enjoyable. A word to the wise: You must not read this on an empty stomach. Otherwise all the sumptuous entrees in Angie’s kitchen will drive you bonkers!

Come to think of it, I could go for some fried green tomatoes right about now…but I digress. This is a fun little whodunnit with an interesting cast of characters—from the womanizing tomato vendor (and No. 1 murder suspect!) to the serial-dater best friend to the gossipy townies. For the most part, Angie’s a likeable gal with a good heart. It just irks me that she’s a workaholic and clearly has no time for her incredibly sweet boyfriend. There’s zero fireworks between the two—especially on Angie’s end. And it just seems like it’s only fair for her to let the poor man go so another lucky single lady can cash in on that action.

Don’t get me wrong, Angie’s a great gal. She looks after her neighbors and makes her team of restaurant workers feel like family. I just wish she could let loose a little and maybe partake in a hobby that doesn’t involve work. Perhaps a mystery cruise is in order for the next installment!

Aside from those minor gripes, this is a solid mystery series that left me guessing until the final chapters. And—spoiler alert!—there’s a yummy fried zucchini recipe included in the back pages! This was such a fun cozy. First, because it is set in Idaho and I am from that area. It was fun trying to determine where River Vista was supposed to be. I knew the different towns and sights that were mentioned. I also liked Angie and her friends. They are an interesting mix of characters. The murder was odd. Why would someone murder such a young, innocent girl. So I was was surprised with the ending.

I would definitely read another in this series.

Killer Green Tomatoes is a great addition to the Farm-to-Fork Mystery series. In fact, I think it is better than the first one. Lynn always does a great job creating a cast of recurring characters in her small town cozies. This one is especially fun to read with all the good food prepared by Chef Angie Turner and her kitchen staff at the County Seat in small town River Vista, Idaho where she purchases local produce and dairy products. Her best friend and business partner, Felicia, runs the front of the restaurant and helps make the running of everything go smoothly. Angie has a new boyfriend in Ian, who works with the local farmers and their co-op. Everything is going smoothly until Javier, a cousin of her sous chef, Estebe, is accused of murdering his girlfriend. Estebe is out of the restaurant this week working with the Basque Festival going on in Boise. Even though, she doesn't want to get involved with the investigation, especially with Ian's uncle, Sheriff Brown warning her to stay away from it, it seems that she does anyway. Throughout dealing with that situation, she is torn between the restaurant duties and her guest for the week. Mrs. Potter from across the street is visiting while her granddaughter, Erica is on a vacation. An old friend of Angie's Nona, she is quite a character.
This is another winner by Lynn Cahoon where you can expect a pool of suspects, twists and turns, fun repeat characters with some mean girls thrown in, great storyline, danger and an ending that I didn't see coming.

Killer Green Tomatoes brings us back to the Country Seat a new and upcoming restaurant in rural Idaho. Where Angie Turner and her friend and business partner, have moved to make Angie’s dream of owning a restaurant that highlights and emphasizes farm fresh ingredients come true. The restaurant is doing great and the kitchen team is working together seamlessly. When the girlfriend of her Basque Sous Chefs cousin is discovered murdered near the Country Seat, Angie must run the restaurant and solve a murder.
What I love about this series is the family and friendships that are front and center, Lynn Cahoon has created characters that you cannot help but fall in love with and want to visit. Angie is a great sleuth and I love her sidekick Precious, her goat she adopted in the first book and her puppy Dom. They add laughter and give the story an even more down home on the farm feel. The way that Lynn Cahoon describes the farms, fresh produce, and food served at the Country Seat make your mouth water. This is the kind of book, which you cannot put down. I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish this book. I did not want this book to end. If you are a fan of cozies with a farm theme then you will love this series, as much as I do.

Angie Turner is finally ready to open her new hometown restaurant the County Seat, but she is till trying to find a few more suppliers for her all natural recipes so when her sous chef recommends his cousin's farm, she's willing to give it a try. The cousin, Javier, is somewhat of a ladies man, so when his current girlfriend is found murdered, he is the natural suspect.

Angie has a strong sense of family that drives her to assist trying to clear Javier of suspicion, but when he disappears the investigation gets trickier. I love the way that the food images and descriptions are easily woven into thew story as well as well-hidden clues.
