I thought this was a well-written, hot and steamy, sexy romance. I really enjoyed Sage and Shawn. Two completely different people who together bring out the best in each other. Along with a ton of steamy sexy scenes, there is some fun and humor, some previous hurts and demons, a little drama and soul-searching - all tied together to form a really good romance. I was intrigued with the characters from the beginning and had a hard time putting the book down. I look forward to reading more in the Lightning Series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Random House - Loveswept.

I didn’t read Down & Dirty, book one of this series and I do not feel I missed anything. Sage and Shawn both had some emotional baggage to work through, but everything turned out in the end. Great chemistry between the characters.

I really, really enjoyed this one!!! What do you get when you combine a football linebacker who is an adrenaline junkie and breaks all the rules of his contract by his risky behavior and an accountant/yoga instructor who has issues with rule breakers and unsafe behavior? So much chemistry it explodes off the kindle it nearly smoked with how fast the pages turned as I read this one. Shawn sees Sage across the bar and is immediately intrigued and who knew their tryst at the end of the hallway which was totally out of character for Sage would then turn into something more when Shawn is sent to her yoga studio for treatment. This one is definitely one you have to read!

Wow, what a start to this book! I found it humorous that our heroine, Sage, broke out of her "conservative" persona during a bachelorette party, but in the back hallway where none of the other party-goers could see her! Our Hero, Shawn, spots Sage in the bar where the party is being held. His ego takes a bruising when she doesn't fawn all over him, the way most women do. Surprisingly, he and his fellow teammate, Clay, are not approached by either football fans who must recognize them, or other women, so Shawn is able to continue making eyes at Sage.

After their hallway fling, Shawn has no way of tracking down Sage since she refused to give him her number. By happenstance, he ends up at her yoga studio for some help with his nagging shoulder injury. She initially runs from him, but he convinces her to take him on as a client. Both feel the electricity between them...Sage wants to deny it, and Shawn wants to explore it.

This was a quick, fun read, but I wish it could have been a little longer in time duration. I would be curious to see how Sage would react living in Shawn's very public life.

I've been looking forward to more from this group of characters ever since I read Down & Dirty - which I really enjoyed! These two characters were not who I was expecting next but enjoyed the story very much all the same! 4.5 star read for me. Tons of hot chemistry, interesting side story lines but also a lot of heart and soul and feels in the books in this series. Eagerly waiting for more books in this series!!!

They both have their demons and based on how they deal with them you would think that they should run the other way and avoid each other. But the attraction is there and is intense. It's a pull that forces Sage to get out of her comfort zone and risk getting attached, and forces Shawn to be patient and humble. To look for different ways to deal with grief and to think of others before himself. Both are stubborn but they end up pulling out the best from each other. Because in the end they just need someone to love them first and make them feel that they matter. I consider this a fast and easy read but sweet and hot along the way.

Quick and easy read. For me a little too easy. Although both main characters had major issues to deal with, all realizations and resolutions were miraculously simple. This book was heavy on the steam and light on the substance. It might be good for an afternoon by the pool, but it's not one that will stick with me.

Shawn and Sage - a red hot start! It was nice watching these two try to keep it professional ;o)
It was a simple, but well fleshed out plot that moved along at a good pace. Lot of fun, lots of laugh, lots of drama, and some steamy sex. They make an interesting couple, and strangely suited for one another. Most important, there's a HEA!

Hot & Heavy is an insta-lust situation on crack. She isn't that kind of girl. Sage is far from the freak flag flying, hornball she appeared to be. it's him! He does this to her in a way that terrifies her. He doesn't know anything about her but...he wants to know it all! It definitely isn't his usual response but ....her. She makes Shawn want things he has never wanted before.

Hot & Heavy has chemistry, enough concerns to add drama, and a sexual content that will either make you jealous or needy.

Enjoy!

3.75 stars--HOT AND HEAVY is the second instalment in Tracy Wolff’s contemporary, adult LIGHTNING erotic, romance series focusing on the NFL’s San Diego Lightning. This is professional football player Shawn Wilson, and yoga instructor/accountant Sage Kaufmann’s story line. HOT AND HEAVY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person points of view (Sage and Shawn) HOT AND HEAVY follows the building relationship between professional football player Shawn Wilson, and yoga instructor/accountant Sage Kaufmann. Shawn Wilson is an adrenaline junkie, trying to keep the demons at bay. A bar quickie with a mysterious stranger finds our hero pining for a woman he knows nothing about until his teammate’s fiancé recommends therapeutic yoga for all of his ailments. Enter Sage Kaufmann, Shawn’s one-night stand, and the woman with whom Shawn will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Shawn and Sage, and the potential fall-out as Shawn’s selfishness and his need for adrenaline forces Sage to walk away to save her sanity and a possible broken heart.

Twenty years earlier Shawn Wilson’s life spiralled out of control, and in the ensuing time, to bury his grief, Shawn embarks on dangerous and life-threatening endeavors to destroy the memories that claw at his soul. Sage Kaufmann has struggled throughout most of her life, following her hippie mother around the globe, in her attempts to find the next, best thing. On the verge of bankruptcy due to one of her mother’s ill-gotten schemes Sage accepts Shawn into her yoga studio in an effort to regain control of what was, and what could have been.

The relationship between Shawn and Sage begins as a one-night stand; essentially a hit it and run in the back of a bar but an encounter that remains at the forefront of our couple’s minds. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The colorful and dynamic secondary and supporting characters include Shawn’s teammates: star quarterback Hunter Browning and realtor Emerson Day; Tanner Green, and Clay Bruce; Hunter’s niece Lucy and nephew Brent; and Sage’s free-wheeling and impulsive yoga teaching mother.

HOT AND HEAVY is a fast paced and sexy story line of insta-lust, betrayal, memories and love. The premise is captivating and edgy ; the characters are flirty and sassy; the romance is provocative and arousing. HOT AND HEAVY is a delightful and engaging entry into Tracy Wolff’s LIGHTNING series.

Although this is the second in a series, I hadn't read the first before reading this and I didn't feel as though I had missed out on anything too important. However, I am planning on going back and reading the first book when I get a chance.

Ah, Sage and Shawn. I don't know if I can think of a book that I've read recently where both main characters came into the relationship with so much baggage. While it's common for character's history/background to cause issues with their relationships in books, I felt that poor Sage really got dealt a crappy hand when it came to parents. Ultimately, she worked it out and moved past her issues, but honestly, I kind of wish that she had "had it out" more with her mother in the end. That woman needs a slap upside the head. And poor Shawn – although he seemed to recognize where his urge for adrenaline-junky activities came from, he didn't seem inclined to do anything about it until push came to shove. He was a bit of an idiot about it all, but ultimately got his head on straight. Since both characters seemed totally aware of their "issues" I did feel like shaking them and saying "JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER!" (but I guess that wouldn’t make for a very interesting story...).

My only other issue was that I felt like they moved from lust to love a little unrealistically. Listen, I "knew" pretty quickly when I met my husband, and my parents eloped after knowing each other for three months and have been married for 54 years so I obviously don't have an issue with moving quickly. I just felt like there wasn't quite the basis for some of their quick progression. But it wasn't really a deal breaker.

Hot & Heavy lives up it’s title with the characters heating up the pages and the bedroom. Sage and Shawn are opposites in every way. Sage is all about responsibility and not taking any risks in her life because her mother moved them around a lot. She never had stability in her life, so she takes great measures to ensure her life is full of rules and no risks. Shawn has his demons which makes him take risks with his life and career. He plays football player, but when he is not playing he is an adrenaline junkie set on taking risks. When the two of them meet sparks fly and they embark on one-night of passion. When their night gets interrupted Sage runs like she does when she gets out of her comfort zone. They meet again when Shawn comes to her yoga studio for rehab on his shoulder and Shawn makes it his mission to get her to drop her walls and give him a chance.

I love the story and it’s a quick read filled with intensity, passion and fighting the battles within to find true happiness. Both characters are lost souls doing anything to not confront their past but when they meet how can they fight what they truly need. You will love reading about Sage and Shawn just from their first interaction and hoping for them to find their way. Their chemistry is intense, and they can turn any moment they share into a great buildup of passion. Can Shawn get Sage to take a risk with her heart to give them a real chance or will her rules get in the way? To find out you must read “Hot & Heavy” which will leave you wanting more of the two of them once you do.

This is book 2 in a series and easily stands alone. The characters in the previous book make an appearance a few times but not enough that you would be lost. I liked the first book better because I think it had more heart. This book is hotter because there are no kids involved like the first book.

In this story Shawn, our hero is a daredevil. He meets Sage at a bar and they have sex. But she thinks he is way out of her league and so she refuses to give him her number. Until her friend decides to fix Shawn up with Sage and recommends her Yoga studio. And that is how they get to know the other.

I felt like Sage that Shawn is a little insane with the risks he took. So it was hard to really love and connect to him. But I really loved Sage's struggle with her mom and dealing with Shawn. This was a funs tory and the writing was pretty great. The author crafted some great characters and gave them some very serious issues to face.

I really enjoyed this well titled book. It is definitely hot and heavy. Shawn meets Sage and it's instant attraction. Shawn is a football player and Sage an accountant who also runs her mom's yoga studio. Opposites attract big time in this fun romance. Loved it!

The last thing Sage was looking for was a man. Or so she thought she does something so out of character. When she has hot crazy sex with a man at a bar in the hallway. He was so sexy so big because at 6 feet herself finding a man to look up to so to say is hard. But Shawn is big everywhere because he is a football player. And not just any football player but the teammate of her best friends fiance. He gets injured doing extreme sports which is against his contract. So he goes to her for help. Hoping being she's a yoga instructor and the business owner she can help. From here it only stars to sizzle the pages faster. Can they both let go and enjoy what's happening? Or will their hang-ups keep them from the one thing they both crave, each other?

Hot & Heavy's title certainly delivers just that, oodles of hot and heavy not to mention uber sexy interactions between Sage & Shawn. I really like this couple and feel they were perfect for each other. Their chemistry was so off the charts that Sage finds herself doing something completely out of character the very first night she meets him, that is she does him in the back hallway of the bar. But it turns out to be the beginning of something great!
Really good story to go along with all the hotness though, which I do like in a romance.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC of this book!

Opposites attract!

Accountant/yoga teacher Sage Kaufmann is forced to go to a bachelorette party for one of yoga teachers at the yoga studio that she was managing for her mother because her mother was finding herself in India when she meets this really cute guy named Shawn at the bar and has a one night stand with him. When Shawn wanted her phone number she left quickly because she normally didn’t sleep with a guy right away.

Football star Shawn Wilson had hurt his shoulder cliff diving in Mexico against his contract when he needed help to getting it to heal when he was given the name of a yoga teacher by a friend. Sage was surprised it was the guy she had met but the studio needed the money after her mother had given the money away to the guy in India to help his program.

Sage and Shawn were very different in how they behaved. Sage wanted to be totally different than her mother that she felt wandered through life and Shawn who did every extreme sport against his contract because he felt that it made him closer to his deceased mother.
